Early WR Rankings Part 2, Alphabet Soup

The highest. He's too high. I got to move him down. Okay. So you're, I'm panicking over here. He's a wide receiver too, to you. Tooish. Tooish. It's just been a while. I mean, 2015, he finished six in the league. But since then, it's been a rough ride injuries. Last year, he played 13 games, 754 yards, four touchdowns. It's not the season you wanted from him, especially when they had a pretty good offense. Yeah, I mean, Mitchell Trubisky did a lot more than certainly I thought he would do.

and you still weren't very happy with him. I'm still not a believer in Mitchell Trubisky being a true, you know, top-end franchise type quarterback yet. And so Alan Robinson is someone that, I mean, the range is very wide.

Very, very white. Alan Robinson could absolutely be a wide receiver one this season. If he ends up being like they click, it's year two in the system, year two with Trubisky and, you know, the offense takes a step forward. I could see that. But I could also see him being, I mean, his contract situation. Being the wider receiver 41. Yeah, being the wider receiver 41. His contract situation is dead, no dead money after this year. Cut him move on to Anthony Miller. And then all of a sudden you're Alan Robinson love because he's.

And your dynasty shares of him are just destroyed. How old is Alan Robinson? Oh, goodness. Oh, no. I bet he's 25. Come on. Oh, drum roll. He's 25 years old. This is why we love him. Not all 25s are 25. No. Some 25s are more like 35. So, I mean, yeah, I'm not a huge fan of Alan Robinson. On my dynasty roster, my three and my four are Alan Robinson and Chris Godwin.

And I'm like, well, is that really three and four? Or is that the other way around? Because I'm in love with Chris God. Are you talking about Rod God God? His first name is Rod God. Did you know that? Rod Christopher Godwin. Yeah, his middle name is Christopher. His first name is Rod. And then, duh, of course he didn't want to go by Rod God. How do you not? I know. I'm like, what? I am in completely agreement with you. I am moving him down my rankings. For not going by. For this information. He could have been living as Rod God his whole life.

Rod Godwin. Rod Godwin. If he goes by Rod Goddard, I feel like he should just be on the Raiders. I mean, just trade him to the Raiders. Rod Godwin. What? Rod Godwin. Chris Godwin. Hold on. Hold on. Are you guys pulling my leg over here? No. Are you sending me up? Rod Christopher Godwin. I was told this and I had to Wikipedia to confirm and it's 100% true. So Chris. His parents tried to hand him the gift of Rod God. Rod God.

Well, no, I'm not. I'm talking to Chris because this is the name he has chosen to go with when he could have been Rod Godwin. Upsetting. This is the kind of thing that really gets under Mike's skin. To the football side, here's, let me share a little bit. Oh, he's already prefaced it. You want the soapbox? I, uh, I, uh, soapbox is not high enough. It is not tall enough. I'm standing on a, uh, a tall column.

year last year was the wide receiver 29 in his second year. He is a 95th percentile athlete coming out of college. Matt Harmon was in love with Chris Godwin because of his contested catchability, his routes. He is a really good wide receiver who is more athletic than most NFL wide receivers who now gets moved into a role where the head coach coming in, Bruce Ariens, who is an offensive guy.

has come out and said, I think he could have 100 plus receptions, which I think he could have 100 plus receptions. Chris Godwin, to me, is one of those guys that after this year, could he, let me ask this question to you to. Is there any chance that he could become the one next year? Or is that just impossible because Mike Evans. Impossible. Yeah, 100% impossible. Mike Evans is a 1,500-yard receiver.

Mike Evans is probably 25 years old. I bet you anything he is. Mike Evans has never had fewer than a thousand yards. Actually, I know Mike Evans is 25. We just talked about. Mike Evans is 25 years old. No, here's what you got to realize is you can love a player, but your love can only take him so far. Your love on this show cannot stop them from drafting another wide receiver. And your love on this show...

cannot manifest itself in a consistent season for Chris Godwin alone. He can do it because he's physically capable of doing it. What I really don't know, and here's what I think, Chris Godwin, we have him as Consensus 23. He's made the top 24. He should get a pat on the back. But what's the difference between Chris Godwin and Calvin Ridley, Mike? What's the real difference between those players? Because when you look at opportunity,

You're coming into a season with new opportunity. And I have been one that just organically naturally says Chris Gobbin's a better fantasy player than Calvin Ridley. But I've started to question that because Chris Godman still has to deal with James Winston. Right. I'd rather have that Ryan. Calvin Ridley gets an out of Ryan. Calvin Ridley was a high draft capital pick. Calvin Ridley had monster breakout games. In fact, Chris Godwin only had one out of his...

16 games last year that was considered a great performance, and it was week 17. This is why I have Chris Godwin at 27. I don't think, I, he won't get drafted at 27. That's the problem. He'll get drafted higher than that. If you could draft Godwin at 27, I'm all in. Right now, just so you know, Chris Godwin is drum roll, please, the wide receiver 27 off the board, ADP. Apparently Andy's all in. Yeah, I'll take him at 27. Sure. Yes, I will take the upside of him around there, but.

I like him. As of right now, as of right now, they lost Adam Humphreys, a lot of targets. They lost Sean Jackson, a lot of targets. I mean, there are. I think he's a locked and loaded top 24. I completely agree. And I think he's a locked and loaded wide receiver two. The problem is that there's zero percent chance that that team rests on Justin Watson on the outside. Agreed. None. So they're drafting a whiteout. That's a done deal. So I'm looking at the average draft position. Who's going there?

I assume you would take Mike Williams over Chris Godwin. I would. They're right next to each other. Doug Baldwin and Tyler Lockett are on the outside of those two guys. I would take Chris Godwin over both of those guys. I would put Godwin right around Lockett. I'd probably take Godwin for the upside. I don't like the kind of hyper-efficiency of Lockett. He's not in our top 24. I have Godwin ranked higher for sure. And over Baldwin for sure because right now Baldwin has sneaky upside if he's healthy. That's a big if. Yeah.

It's an if that's disappearing. But you guys are willing to give so much injury credit to all these other guys, not factor it in. Just AJ Green. Just guys who are elite. Well said. Thank you. And Julian Edelman, of course. He was suspended. He's also been banged up. You just said he hadn't played 16 games in five years.

He was suspended for five straight years? He was suspended. I didn't know that. A lot of steroids. Julian Edelman is a bad boy. All right. We don't have to linger here very long, but Mike Williams comes in at 24. I have him at 22, Mike 25, Jason 27. He is, to me, what Godwin is to Jason. Mike Williams hit the 10 touchdown mark last year. I saw things on the field from Williams that just made me think he is an alpha in this league.

He was dominant at times. He was irrelevant at times. This is all about ascension. And I think that he has to come out and obviously be healthy and perform all season long. But I think we can pencil him for eight plus touchdowns. Yeah, you probably can. I didn't like the landing spot for Mike Williams when he was drafted just because I knew it would take time to get Tyrell out of the way. And I think that Williams is a good wide receiver and played a great role for that team.

So now I'm far more on board. With no Tyrell involved and with another season. With Mike Williams coming in being the two. And not necessarily just the two, but he might be the actual dominant outside wide receiver. I like him. Yeah, that is your guy. You've talked them up for a while. You predicted last year that he would be able to get 10 touchdowns. You got 10 touchdowns. Well done. All right. We'll wrap it up with this.
