Megalodon hides a hashtag behind three Thanksgiving shows

The special Thanksgiving Megalodon combines the Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday shows into the longest, biggest, most-listened episode. The hosts recall Dinner Butter nearly trending with Thanksgiving, promise a new tweet-to-enter hashtag, ask Brooks about the prizes, and announce two signed jerseys plus an A.J. Brown mini helmet before declaring themselves broke.

moment

Monday Punday repairs Garrett Willstocks on air

Monday Punday processes Week 11 through Perfect Passer, Jalen Soren, Tank Delicious, Breece Hallelujah, Scam LaPorta, Devon I.R. Chan, Hollywood Brown Pants, Quentin Dropston, and Jared Gawful. Garrett Willstocks fails because of an accidental T and extra S, so another host interprets it as Garrett Will Suck for the week and Will Stuck for his managers.

moment

Mike can forecast injuries by reading his roster

After Mike is directly asked about his weekend injuries, his reply lists Mark Andrews as the loss that likely tanked the League of Record, Joe Burrow as the dynasty loss that also removes Jamar Chase, and Kenneth Walker as another casualty. Asked whether he can predict the next injuries, Mike offers to read off his roster.

moment

Jason's emotional progress reverses before facing Andy

Jason anticipates a Week 12 matchup against Andy's Dak-CeeDee stack by projecting 150 combined points and a difficult emotional week for the company. The hosts say they thought Jason had improved but that he proved them wrong and is going backward; Jason says he genuinely may not be able to remain in the studio and hopes only for a fun, playful rivalry that he wins.

moment

Andy fakes a Ferguson touchdown from the studio

An unlabeled host says Andy did him dirty while that host was in the kitchen: Andy yelled 'Ferg touchdown' from the studio, causing the unnamed host to celebrate Jake Ferguson. The actual score belonged to Luke Schoonmaker, whose number 86 sits beside Ferguson's 87.

moment

The Lions jersey petition merges two Reynolds players

The hosts launch a petition because Detroit's 9, 6, and 8 forms connect too close to the bottom, making Jameson and Josh Reynolds in adjacent numbers hard to distinguish. Solutions include treating them as one fantasy player and crediting both, adding long dreads, putting an orange headband over a helmet, or inventing a helmet-sized sweatband that likely does not exist.

moment

Papa Josh tanks and hugs away his Thanksgiving invitation

Brooks answers a direct Broxie question from Deucer's Alley and says he beat Josh in dynasty while Josh is happy to tank. A nearby unlabeled reply says Achane's injury helped the tank. The hosts then say Papa Josh had nearly regained a Thanksgiving invitation, but he ran up that morning, hugged an unlabeled host against his will, and thanked that host for the Burrow-to-Justin-Fields-and-DJ-Moore trade that won his week; Mike tests whether hugging his own family would also earn disinvitation.

moment

Kyle disputes his own man-beater quote

Kyle asks the desk to make clear that he was not quoted as saying 'man-beater.' The hosts immediately insist that those were exactly Kyle's words and answer the attempted correction with 'Check the tape.'

summary

Episode notes

The show previews its largest annual episode: Megalodon combines the Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday shows into a single Thanksgiving marathon, hides a completion hashtag, recalls Dinner Butter nearly trending with Thanksgiving, and promises a DK Metcalf jersey, Javonte Williams jersey, and A.J. Brown mini helmet while joking that the prizes will leave the company broke. Monday Punday turns the weekend into Perfect Passer, Jalen Soren, Tank Delicious, Breece Hallelujah, Devon I.R. Chan, Hollywood Brown Pants, Quentin Dropston, Jared Gawful, and a failed Garrett Willstocks construction that another host repairs into Garrett Will Suck/Will Stuck. Mike's weekend is summarized by his own roster: Mark Andrews tanks the League of Record, Joe Burrow's dynasty injury takes Jamar Chase with him, and Kenneth Walker also falls. Jason then anticipates facing Andy's Dak-CeeDee stack with such intensity that the hosts say his emotional state is going backward; Jason says he genuinely may not be able to remain in the studio and only hopes for a playful rivalry that he wins. An unnamed Fantasy Faceoff participant separately celebrates avoiding a turkey Wheel-of-Shame punishment for a third straight week. Near the close, an unlabeled host says Andy did him dirty by shouting 'Ferg touchdown' from the studio while that host was in the kitchen; the score actually belonged to Luke Schoonmaker, whose number sits beside Ferguson's. That launches a petition against Detroit's similarly ambiguous 8, 9, and 6 typography: the Reynolds players should merge for fantasy scoring or wear dreads, an orange helmet headband, or an impossible giant sweatband. Kyle then asks to be cleared of the phrase 'man-beater'; the hosts say that was exactly his wording and order the tape checked. Finally, Brooks speaks from Deucer's Alley and says he beat Josh in dynasty while Josh is hardcore tanking; a nearby unlabeled reply says the Achane injury helped the tank. Papa Josh later hugs an unlabeled host against his will and thanks that host for the trade that moved him from Burrow into Justin Fields and DJ Moore, which appears to revoke a tentative Thanksgiving invitation. Mike asks whether hugging his own family will get him uninvited too.

thrown into the fire on a road game against Washington, didn't really know the offense yet, but then it was one target two, two, zero in the, in the injury game. But, I mean, this could just be the, this is how they want to run the offense. Seems like a weird way to run the offense ignoring Connor and the, like going heavy Dorch and leaving Hollywood and Connor off. I don't know. Dorch was a real man on that catch. Yeah, he did have one nice. Naji Harris, Dudd game. Yeah. At wide receiver, Gabe Davis, zero target, zero catches. Jason, you were wrong that this would have been the surprise. He'll be great against the Jets. Yeah, I mean, that was mostly a joke. Well, it would have been a surprise. It would have been a shock because the Jets don't give up points to anyone. I think everybody benched Gabe Davis. Any chance to Stefan Diggs isn't 100% right now. Four for 27. The matchups tough, but Diggs kind of, he overcomes those things traditionally. Two consecutive weeks for Stefan Diggs, where he was the wider series of 56 and 54.

56:09 ↗

And he had the whole back scare going into weeks. Is he 100%? I don't know. I think he will be okay. I mean, he's out there. You don't expect your best game against the Jets. Sauce Gardner helping to shut him down. You know, next week against the Philadelphia Eagles should be an awesome performance. Yeah, that'll be telling. Yeah. Right into the buy after that. And then on the road against Kansas City the week after. Garrett Wilson, eight targets. He's also banged up. Two for nine. He's banged up and you are really playing the scratchers when you play him. I mean, if you don't score except for every 40 possessions and you just take touchdowns off the table for Garrett Wilson, you can't get in the top 10. You just can't. I don't want top 10. Well, I would love top 10. But I want just like the whole month before that, it was he averaged what, essentially 11.

57:07 ↗

12ish points and a half point scoring format. It was to go from that to negative points. That's a work of art. Jalen Waddle, four for 55. I'm not that worried about Jalen Waddle, but I am this week against the Jets. Man, I wish I had C.D. Liam. Liam. Are you here? Yeah. Yeah, I'm here. I mean, what's on your screen? Are you just staring at me? I'm looking at Jalen Waddle's stretch run, and he's just not been very good. He's the wide receiver 31 on the course of the season. He did miss a game in week three. Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh. Oh, you didn't understand my reference. No, I look, I have C.D. Lamb, and I just assume everything in your life has revolved around beating me this week. This was because you made the bad decision to trade.

58:05 ↗

Seedy Lamb away in a dynasty a couple years ago for Jalen Waddle when he was on a quote unquote heater. This is because I was on the show and I turned down that trade of I had Citi and I was off for Jalen Waddle and I turned it down and you two made me feel so dumb and said I was a dummy and so I went and I took that trade. Did we Mike? Oh yeah. Yeah. Oh yeah. Yeah. Oh yeah. I got your best interest at heart at all time. Thank you. Christian Kirk, Dudd. Terry McLaren, another dud. Jordan Addison, dud, Hollywood Brown. What, I mean, what were you saying that Kyle keeps bringing up on the Dynasty show? Yeah, I mean, Kyle has been saying for a couple weeks here that, like, the NFL has moved past Hollywood Brown's skill set, that he's a man-beater, and the NFL's kind of moved to a zone coverage. And specifically, I will say that Houston is really aggressive in that.

59:04 ↗

it might have been a bad matchup for Hollywood, but the majority of the NFL now is playing a style. Kyle would like it known he was not quoted as saying the word man-beater. That was exactly what Kyle said. Check the tape. So, I mean, Hollywood over his last 17 games, 29% of those games over 10.5 points, the targets are what bothers me. The targets say that, like, I think we all assumed Hollywood would be force-fed targets from his buddy. I mean, I think that at the end of the day, you expect. that to happen and that hasn't happened. That's most concerning. I don't care about does he catch the deep ball this week or the other week. I wanted to see double-digit targets from Hollywood. Yeah, 9, 10, 11 targets every single week is what Hollywood should be getting. It's kind of what he was getting earlier in the season. He's got a ton of games with 10 or more targets. Catch percentage is 52% this year. Yeah, and it's a real shame because like you said, there are deep balls that are just not connecting. You know, he had his man.

60:04 ↗

toasted, and Kyler underthrew him. Beating. What's that? Yeah, his man beaten. Yeah, see? And Kyler underthrew him. You know, they connect on that play. All of a sudden, you're happy. You know, the way that when Kyler connected with Rondale, it was like, oh, that was a great ball. So maybe it gets better, but you're right. What are you going to do this week? What are you going to do this week? What are you going to do? I'm going to toil. Going to go back? I'm going to toil and make the wrong decision. One can hope. Deante Johnson, this has been two disappearing acts for Deontay. Was that the other part of your trade, Josh? Did you get Deontay? Yeah, all right. So Papa Josh got Deonti and him. How does Deontay Johnson have eight targets in 16 yards? I mean, you play Cleveland. Two of the eight and the Cleveland defense is very, very good. Deontay is not an auto start if you can put up numbers like this. I mean, it's been.

61:00 ↗

But this is not Deonti. One for 17, two for 16 on all those snaps. See, they're winning games by just like running the football with their two running backs and snake and late game field goal victories. They did not last. No, they didn't. But it was 1310. So I don't know, man. I don't know what's going on with the Yonte. Come on. I mean, this is this. If you asked me what the storyline of the NFL is this year, what is kind of. permeated the fantasy football landscape more than anything else. It has been a massive amount of quarterback injuries and backup quarterbacks that you feel like you're coin flipping on whether they can get the ball to the players that you care about. From Garrett Wilson to, you know, this situation with Deonté Johnson to Joshua Dobbs with Hollywood Brown and Addison to, I mean, Gardner Minshew and whether, you know.

61:54 ↗

Every single time, Amari Cooper, four for 34 on eight targets with Dorian Thompson, because, hey, welcome another backup. Some teams they have more than one backup that get the opportunity. Desmond Ritter. Oh, Drake London's good. No, he's bad. No, he's not. No, now Tiny Key. This is what's happened. There are over 330 million people in the United States. How are there not 30 people who can play great at the quarterback position? I'm ready. I mean, You're ready. Like genuinely, with the amount, the hundreds of thousands of people that grow up, play football, they all the colleges, all the programs, all the high schools that care about football, I just can't believe that there, you know, there are 15 of these guys that can do it in the NFL. Why aren't there 30 or 40 or 50 of these humans that can do it?

62:47 ↗

It's just kind of crazy. It's the most important position in all of sports. It's the most difficult by a mile. And, I mean, half of them are in a hospital bed right now. That's fair. I just feel like you could go throw a dart at an arena league quarterback and get better performances than some of these guys. And I know that's false. Trust me, I'm not, don't take that out of context as a little sound bite. I know that's a lie. But my goodness. It's been rough. And so we're going to look dumb on some players. All of us. And I just mean the community because. And the NFL. Look, if you have Deonti Johnson, just so you are aware, had three consecutive weeks of playing great football, same quarterback, same team disappears for two weeks. Calvin Ridley disappeared for six weeks. It is, um, Jason says that like wide receivers are always inconsistent. Like unless you're being, unless you're a superstar.

63:48 ↗

and even those guys have bad games. But it is multiplied by these other situations this year where, look, you're playing with fire a little bit. Yeah. If you are new to fantasy football, it's not usually like this. We normally have quarterback. Yeah. At least some. But at least, like, now we're moving to Jake Browning. Now we get to do Jake Browning and Jamar Chase this week, everybody. Hooray. Fun. Sam Laporta had a big dud game. He's actually been pretty bad. lately, porta potty kind of stuff. Evan Ingram, down game, Ferguson, the schoon man, had a touchdown. Oh, man. Andy did me dirty. I did. I was in the kitchen getting a, getting a drink while Andy was in the studio watching football, and he yells out, Ferg touchdown. Yeah. And I was like, yes, Fergie got a touchdown. They're like one number different. They are, 8786. Yeah. Yeah. And then I, and then it.

64:45 ↗

But he did not get a touchdown. That was a schoon man. We also want to start a petition, Mike, to fix. I'm signing. You're just signing it. Yeah. I can make jokes. We want a petition to change the number format for the Detroit Lions. Yes. Because the nines and the sixes, the number, like the. And the eights. Well, the connection point on the nines and sixes, it comes so close to the bottom. So it could be mistaken as an eight. So when you watch James and Josh Reynolds, and they're eight and nine. You can't ever tell who's who. I think you should give fancy points. It should cross. They should be one player. It just goes to both? Yeah, they go to both. Or one of them needs like super long dreads or something. If you're going to be that close in numbers, there's got to be. Or yeah, where some like. We're an orange headband over the helmet. Why haven't we done this? Why haven't we put sweatbands on the helmet? Why do you think, Jay? Honestly, I think it's because they don't make sweatbands that big.

65:41 ↗

Yeah, and the helmets don't sweat, really. It's just for looks. Maybe some bright shoes. Yeah. I don't know. I'm going to sweat. James did deliver. Yeah, he had his touchdown on it. What was his snap count this week? Because it had been rising. Let me take a little, a little looksie over there. He was at, yeah, they keep going up. 40 then 52, now 65%. Okay. Jameson Williams, you know. Closeout schedule looks like maybe there's some opportunity. There's Chicago, Denver, Miami. I'm sorry, Chicago, Denver, Minnesota. Who knows? Maybe he's a surprise guy. Tank Dale and Jameson Williams win in titles. Tank Dell, yeah. Hawkinson, it wasn't up to his standards, but he was the leader on the team. Four for 55. I can't watch Hawkinson get up anymore because nobody goes down and looks like he is.

66:37 ↗

Maybe the hair flying around doesn't help, but he gets up slow. He looks like he's hurt on every play. To be fair, I think he is very hurt. Like he has toughed through some really hard hits over the last couple of weeks. But he has courage. He does. He's the king of the forest, man. I mean, that final drive for Minnesota, those Joshua Dobbs out passes to Hawkinson. Why? Why were they doing that? That ball was... When he dropped... That took a walker over to Hawkinson on the side, and it was so easy to defend. Yeah, and when he dropped the second one, it was like, thank goodness. Yeah. Because it saves you a timeout. Turned McBride, five for 43. Yeah, it's not... It wasn't what people hoped for in the Houston game, especially when Hawkinson... Sorry, Hollywood didn't get a lot of targets. But McBride will still be involved. Few!

67:35 ↗

Do you win your games this week, Broxie? Yeah, I beat this guy next to me in Duce's Alley, beat Josh in Dynasty, but he's happy about that. He's tanking. He is hardcore tanking. In fact, you must have been, I mean, you must have been thrilled about the A-chan injury. I'd never be thrilled about an injury, but it did help me tank. Yeah, I don't know. You're kind of a bad person. We haven't moved on yet. I think it'll be a couple years, Mike. You know, we had, we had much, we had gotten to the point where maybe he could come to Thanksgiving. But then I walk in this morning and Papa Josh runs up and hugs me. Yeah. Against my will. He does that. And thanks me for the trade that got him out of Burrow and into Justin Fields. And.

68:27 ↗

DJ Moore. He said I wouldn't have won the week without your train. That's the kind of stuff I am fighting through on a daily basis here. But just to be clear, because that he doesn't have to go to Thanksgiving now? And on that note, wait. So I just got to go hug my family and I'll get uninvited? Yeah, give it a go, Mike. Waivers show tomorrow. I'm on it. Good luck if you have a Philly Chiefs player tonight. Goodbye. Goodbye. Thank you for listening to another episode of the Fantasy Footballers podcast.
