Week 5 Waivers & Streamers + THE Mark Andrews Discussion - Fantasy Football Podcast for 10/1

Amazing, but nobody is on this waiver wire. I mean, he played more than 50% of snaps the first two weeks. I like that. He is pretty widely available. The roster percent we have is 28%. If you're looking at taking a gamble on a guy who can be a weekly flex play, I would be looking more at Chase Brown. Chase Brown's heavier. It's a higher roster percentage than Justice Hill. But I would take the chance on Chase Brown. The, he has cut into the, the opportunities. What's going on, giggles? I'm sorry. Listen, when I'm in the middle of breaking down Justice Hill and I receive a dynasty trade offer from two of the producers in the office that includes Justice Hill, I just found that to be quite comedic. So, like, between those two guys, if Chase Brown were there, I would, it would be easily on the Chase Brown side for me. And so give me your top three names right now. Is it?

Is it Brown over Hunt? It depends on what you need. I think Kareem would be at the top of the names we've talked about so far. The next two matchups for Rico Dattle are bad. It's Pittsburgh and Detroit, but the guy is. And then a by week. And then a buy week. But he is, he's the starting running back for the Dallas Cowboys. The workload has been increasing. I know I'm the only one over here calling for Rico Dato, but. he is like long term he'll be the starter long term he will be the starter and when i looked at him when i looked at him for where i'm ranking him in my in my waiver wire rankings i certainly thought okay his opportunity has come he is the starter he is getting the majority of the work but because it's solely because of those matchups like when i try to pick these when i try to pick these guys up and rank them i'm literally thinking who am i actually going to put in my lineup

And Rico Dowdell's not getting in my lineup this week against Pittsburgh. He's not getting in my lineup the next week against Detroit. And then he's on bye week. So I'm fine letting the next basically month go by with someone else having them. For me, my number two running back behind Hunt is actually Trey Sermon, who's completely available. He's available in 96% of leagues. Obviously, that is a little bit of a risk. Maybe Jonathan Taylor is fine. And his ankle is, you know, he plays this week. It was said to be mild. But if he is out, now you're talking about a complete starting running back. That's the Thursday night game? Who is widely available. And that's going to be against the Jacksonville Jaguars who haven't looked great so far this year. Yeah. So Sermon is fully available. If you're looking for a one week start, you're saying. Yeah. And he's a great start this week. What about Tyler Al Jir? Because he could end up being.

So he's very interesting. We'll know more by the time you need to make your waiver claims based on today's practice. Bejohn, Mike and I were looking through the box score to see when was his last carry because we saw a lot of Alger at the end of the game. But you can't really tell how injured he was because what happened to the game script at the end of the game was a little weird. But it was a chunk of time. at the end of that game where Bijan was not playing. So Algiers is very interesting because if Bijan misses, that just catapults him up to, you know, a workhorse. Going back to Taylor for a second, just to remember that, you know, no matter how good you think you feel after an ankle sprain, these players generally, if you miss a game, you might miss more than one. Yes. So, you know, if he ends up missing in Trey Sermon,

You think you're getting a one week rental, but maybe you get him against Tennessee and Miami the following two weeks. It's possible. And if you are the Jonathan Taylor manager, you need to spend up on getting Trey Sermon this week because he's going to be available and where everybody else is running after maybe a bigger performance by somebody else like Justice Hill or Chase Brown, you probably need to spend your money on Trey Sermon. Fair? Yeah, I think that's fair. I mean, you always have to take it into consideration your team needs. There's going to be, and look at your opponent and look at your league as well. If I don't need a start this week, I don't need Trey Sermon, Justice Hill looks like he is going to be a role player who is involved every single week going on the rest of the season. Yeah, we would just throw out Tank Biggsby's name in the sense that he is widely available and he looked awesome 90 yards last week on seven carries. I feel like we're going to.

bring his name up every other week on this show in the Waver Wire segment because I think every other week will have a big game. Well, to me it's not about the big game. It's about the potential injury. This is just when you see a guy who looks good behind a workhorse. He's really only played two games. The opening week, which he was 12 for 73, gets hurt the next week and he's still recovering after that. And then he was 7 for 90. I'm with Jason of... He's not really high in my priority list, but Travis ETN missed, what, the whole first quarter, got a little bit shook up. It's just about what, what Tink Bigsby would become would be. He's just a stash. He would be, yes, yeah, yeah, he's not even a flex play at this point. But contingent upside is, is humongous. I am looking at wide receiver drop candidates before I get into the names that we should pick up. And it is.

It's very difficult to read these names. But let's talk about who we like this week. I have my under the radar will cost you the least to get the best return name. Hmm. I think the big... I've got one as well. The big spender is going to be Dantavian Wicks. Yes. And I think he's worth that. I think Dondavian Wicks is well worth it with Christian Watson missing time. Now, Watson's injury originally looked like you might not see him for a long time. You know, if he's back on the field soon, you're back into the roll the dice beyond Jaden Reed, is it Dobbs, is it Wix, as it Wix, as it Wicks, as it Wants in situation. But against the Rams this week. In Arizona, the following week in Houston the week after that. Wix looks real. I mean, he was so good last week. That's what's going to cost you a lot. Because with feeling gone, it was very obvious that Legate was going to be heavily involved beyond Deonté Johnson, who's dealing with a groin injury. But 10 targets for Legate, he dropped two passes. He really should have caught. He was still six for 66 and a touchdown. Oh, Mark of the Beast. There it is. That took a while. It took a while. I was writing something down while you said that. I only looked at one man when that happened. Okay. Thank you. But. I think Xavier Legat, especially even with like this matchup with the Bears, where they have an elite corner that will be covering Deonté Johnson, I think Xavier Leggett will cost you nothing. And he's a great start. I think he is, he will be much cheaper than Wix. And he's, he's a rookie. He's going to improve as the season goes along. And as long as Andy Dalton remains the quarterback for the Panthers, Leggett is a.

he's my number two wide receiver right behind wicks wow yeah that i mean it's exciting we love the talent of legate he had a couple of bad drops but that that makes sense um for me there's a couple of guys that i have up in that same tier at least josh downs for sure he's a good player he um even like the the latest report on anthony richards that i saw this morning was he might he might be playing this weekend Yeah, no, I think, I mean, they said he will miss a little time or none. So this weekend is in play. Obviously, if Joe Flacco plays Josh Downs, I think is a really, really good play this week. You saw what was on display in preseason. You saw what was on display in camp. Like Josh Downs was the talk of camp. Yeah. And you finally got to see him on the field with a trustworthy pass. And with Flacko, if he does have Flacco again, nine targets last week turned into eight for 82 in a touchdown. And when.

They interviewed Flacco afterwards. He just brought up Josh Downs as like that type of player that is always where you need him to be. So I think he's a good pickup. And this guy's mostly rostered. But Darnell Mooney's been, he's been very good. So he is a weekly flex option right now who is still available on a lot of waivers. I'm going to be flexing him this week with Gibbs out. So that's happening. Did you see, Andy, I don't know if you know this, Bo, Bo Nix through for 60 yards? Last week. I did. I did see that. Do you know how many receiving yards Cortland Sutton had last week? He's a name here on our waiver list. I believe all of them. He had 60 yards. He had 60 yards. He had 60 of the 53 passers. Oh, my God. I believe. I'm just going to confirm it. But Troy Franklin, the rookie wide receiver for the Denver Broncos. Do you want that? Oh, yeah, we want that. Okay.

He did catch two passes. My man. He had negative two yards. Oh, darn. Hope it's full PPR. You know what one name we did not bring up in the waiver list that we should have at running back that I'm going to circle back to? Which then? Because you've been sharing stuff about him for weeks. But we didn't talk about Emmanuel Wilson. Oh, yes. No, that's a great thing to bring up. In Green Bay. What was some of the things that you were looking at over the weekend? Because the snap counts. had kind of changed a lot, and I think if Jacobs got hurt, he'd be very valuable. It's not even just Jacobs, like, changing everything. Emmanuel Wilson, it's been back to a time share. You had the week to Josh Jacobs. We have no idea what else to do with this offense, and Malik Willis is the quarterback, so we're going to give Jacobs the ball 30 times and hope that it works. And it did. The next two weeks, it's been back to the Green Bay.

time share that we saw for years when you would get frustrated like, hey, give Aaron Jones the ball more. Stop giving it to A.J. Dillon. They did not. They just kept on giving it to A.J. Dylan. And right now through two weeks, the past two weeks, it's Jacobs and Emmanuel Wilson. Wilson might be, it's a sketchy flex at best. Is it a priority out for the Jacobs manager? Or not really? No, I don't think this is a, I think if Jacobs went down, right this second, you might be forced into what you saw with Jacobs at the beginning of the year where they just don't have a choice to have a timeshare because every other running back was injured. But I do think that when Marshaun Lloyd is back here in a couple weeks, if Jacobs were to get injured, it would just be a time shirt. This is a coaching staff that wants a time share. Wilson would be the leader of the timeshare. If Lloyd is back?

Yes, I think he'll play over Lloyd. The rookie has done nothing. Well, sure. He's better. I'm sorry. Yeah, he's, no, that's what he's done. He's gotten hurt over and over and over. And Wilson has performed for this team. So circling back Wix, Mooney, Downs, Legate, Cortland Sutton is going to get the best of the worst passing offense. Yeah, but boys. Juan Dale Robinson. Yeah. Don't watch it. Don't watch it. You don't have to watch it. I will not make you watch it. But he goes on the road to play the Seattle Seahawks. It's a great pick. They are a very competent offense over there. The defense is still TBD, honestly, for Seattle. I need to see some more. But with neighbors in concussion protocol, don't know if he'll be back. But even if neighbors is back, three of the four weeks, Wondale Robinson has just been an absolute target vacuum. If you're in a PPR of any kind, look, he's not a top 20 play.

But week one, wide receiver 36. Then the wide receiver 30 because he got the touchdown. And then a bad game, but then wide receiver 29. 12 targets, week one, 14 targets this past week. The offense, when they're throwing the ball, it's neighbors or it's check it down to Wondale. He's a full PPR type of player. But if you're in a full PPR league, Wondale Robinson, I mean, they're going to throw him the ball a lot and they throw him guaranteed catches. Do you want to know the target's leaders in the NFL right now? Oh, yeah, let's hear them. I always like doing this after three or four weeks. Neighbors is up there. Malik is number one by nine. By the way, I know Ridley's not working out, but like neighbors is doing, neighbors doing okay and Jane Daniels is number one fantasy quarterback. So give me a break, man. I'm trying here. It's tough. Malik Neighbors, 52 targets. Nico Collins, 43. Oh, Nico. Amunrae St. Brown with 39. Tied with Deonté Johnson at 39.

And number five. Is this Wondale? Is Wondale Robinson? So it's rare when the fifth highest target leader is on waivers. Beyond that, it is Cooper Metcalf. Sutton at number eight. So kind of wild. Yeah. Another name, I think, that is worthy of bringing up. I have been playing to Marcus Robinson because he's always on the field and the injuries to the other guys. And, you know, maybe it's two, too. There's other players that are involved. But. Jordan Whittington should be rostered. I think he is the right play if you want to put someone out there. Oh, really? I would play Tutu. Is that stupid? I don't think it is stupid because Tutu has designed.

plays for him where they put him in motion and he goes down, deep down the field. It's like when they want an explosive play, that is two, two. But if you're looking for like the replacement of the normal first read type targets, you saw Jordan Whittington get a ton of buzz through camp. He's a rookie, lowly drafted rookie, but everyone was talking about how he was so good in camp, so good. And if he gets an opportunity, he'll be great. The opportunity has come. And this week, he went from like two weeks ago, he's 38% of snaps. He wasn't the replacement. But they decided this past week. It's not working with Tyler Johnson. Exactly. Tyler Johnson, it's not working. So we're going to give it to Jordan Whittington, who played 97% of the snaps. He had eight targets with six for 62. That's a 28% target share. Yeah. So he is. It's a breakout week for you. Yes. He is a guy. And I think the matchup against Green Bay at home.

That's a good name. I hadn't realized his contribution snapwise. I am 100% with this. And you should be, if you're looking like, well, his production wasn't what I had hoped for. You know what? Six for 62. You should be grateful. Because if he had, if he was six for 62 with a touchdown, he would be the number one or number two wide receiver pickup. And right now you can sneak him in. for a little bit cheap on the radar. Are you dropping any of these names that these are the top drop candidates coming in from angry people. Oh, man. Roma Dunzei and Keenan Allen. I would drop Keenan Allen personally, but I would not drop Roma Dunseye. I'd rather have Wix than both of those guys. Zay Flowers. No. I'd rather have Wix. Really? You would drop Zay Flowers for Wix? Yeah. Wow. I know he.

I know last week. It's not just last, it's the whole offense. It's like what is going on with the Ravens? I don't know. I don't know. But I know that the Green Bay, the Green Bay schedule is the Rams, Arizona the next two weeks. It's hard for teams that are one in three or oh and four to keep in mind to keep on keeping on, right? Like Ridley's going into a buy. Are you willing, who would you drop? Ridley 4 if you had to. I know it would be easy to say, well, you shouldn't drop Ridley, drop somebody else. You shouldn't make that move, trade him. Yeah, do those things first. But if you had to, are you dropping Ridley for some of these guys when you are starting 1 and 3 and 0 and 4? I don't feel like you have a choice. When I look at this list, the only one that would even be questionable would be Dantavian Wix. Wix to me has the potential to be a breakout player to be a difference maker for fantasy. None of these other guys.

Maybe, maybe they get. But, you know, outside of that, the other guys have a decent play, and you can start them. But I'm dropping Ridley for that feels very, very difficult. Unless you're out of roster spots, I would not do that. Oh, rumor mill. The rumor mill is buzzing. Breaking news. Breaking rumors, but. Breaking rumors. The Las Vegas Raiders have begun reaching out to teams to gauge interests in Devante Adams. Did you see, did you guys mention the comment yesterday or the, uh, the like? Oh, I, I didn't, we didn't mention it, but I saw it. Sorry, but like, no, did he just, did he social? So somebody, somebody posted. Somebody posted that Devante Adams may have played his last down.

But Garrett Wilson's name being here tells you everything you need to know about the season right now. Brain and I, you know, you don't do that. But this is where people are at. They've played Garrett for three weeks, four weeks. They've played Ayyuk for four weeks, and they've played Ridley for four weeks, and they've gotten one good game out of 12 opportunities. Yeah, I'm not, I would not drop those players. But that means that Jacoby Myers and Trey Tucker need to be pickups. Because, you know, Trey Tucker is young, explosive, talented. This week, he had a bunch of fantasy points because he got into the end zone. He also had six targets.

The problem I have with those guys, and you're right, Trey Tucker looks really good. Jacoby Myers is a solid NFL wide receiver, but Denver on the road this week, that defense looks really, really, really tough. Then Pittsburgh the following week. So if Devante Adams is a raider and he misses a couple weeks with a hamstring, they're bad matchups. They're bad matchups, but you've got four. I'm still playing my guys against the Steelers. You got four quarters. I mean, Josh Downs had a nice game against the Steelers, didn't he? Yeah, so did Pittman. So, I mean, I don't know. I looked for target leaders on these teams. Michael Pittman was the wide receiver 13 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. And Downs must have been right behind him, or if not ahead of it. And Joe Flacco, we trust, man. Yeah, let me check. Josh Downs was wide receiver nine. Joe Flacco needs. Two top 12 wide receivers against. I'm not scared of the Steelers. Blacko needs to be a full-time starter.

in the NFL because it's absurd the Cleveland Browns letting Joe Flacco walk was absurd you also saw you saw the warts though too well yeah but but look at the NFL like like I don't think the I don't think the cults are going to win a ton of games with Joe Flacco I think it's like it's like Dalton it's like Dalton and Carolina you're going to win some you're going to lose some you're right I mean he could be a starter It's probably going to be one this week. I think the Browns will be better if they had Flacko. The Browns would be better if they had anybody else, pretty much. Well, I've seen some quarterback. Not Tyler Huntley. Yeah. I don't know what the rule change was with tight ends, but we have to have this segment on the show and you might have to give some names that you don't want to right now. Yeah, I don't want to, but we will. I think Kobe Parkinson, Colby Jack Cheese, we've, we've thrown his name out there a couple of times and it can work okay. He had seven targets for, you know, four for 33. Just the way you're talking about it, you almost don't want, you're, you would rather like an AI. Yeah. Bring these names up so it's not you. Uh, you know, the, you had a big performance of Taysam Hill, but he got.

injured again. So I don't know if you're going to have him. Zach Ertz. That's number one for me. Yeah, Zachertz is fine. I mean, he was three for 22 this last week. Like there's he had a two point conversion. He's on the field. You take Hertz over Tucker Kraft? I think I'd go, I'm going Kraft over. You have some actual upside with Tucker Kraft. He's taken over. We talked about him yesterday. But the team said they didn't want that to happen. They said that, but then they did it. But both Jordan love games. Tucker Kraft has been, he's been decent. Yeah, I mean, Musgraves going down. Yes. And with the injury to Watson, maybe that's a play this week. Yeah. All right, let's do it. Okay. So, Kraft cheese over Colby Jack cheese? Yes. Okay. So the other guy. Cheese based waiver show. Yeah, I would say Monterey Otten. Oh my.

The guy had a surgery that took him out basically right, Kyle, if you remember better where it was, but it was like right before training camp. On his body. No, I'm saying the timing. It was right before training camp. He was out and resting. And he is, his arrow was going up. Foster Morrow's arrow is going down. And I think that this, maybe not this week.

Although it could be. And then by next week, Joanne Johnson will be back to being the guy at the tight end position, not including Tayson. Yeah, I don't mind. I don't mind you mentioned it. But Taysom is a Swiss Army knife. But Joanne Johnson has had. You dropping Mark Andrews this week, Mike and picking up John Johnson? Are you going to do that? That's good. I said we would save the Mark Andrews discussion. But just Juan Johnson, just to finish it off, like last year, he ended of. Three of the, in the playoffs, tight in nine, tight in four, tied in number one. And in 2020, he also had some games. So he's like, he's a good player. Thank you, Kyle. here with mark andrew so i'm going to pass it to jason boy um yeah so he has fewer fantasy points in standard scoring leagues fewer receiving then jared goff you were receiving fantasy points yeah off got a touchdown i mean what are we doing in standard in standard scores so it's it's a really really tough situation because you've got a player who's gused back to back weeks um both of those were wins for their franchise it's not just the goose it's The routes are low. The snaps are low. The utilization sucks. And it's one target a week. If Mark Andrews had four targets and things were just wild and wacky in a game like happens every once in a while, I'd say, that's fine. I'll play Mark Andrews again. But two targets over two weeks is just devastating. Isaiah likely is not startable at tight end. No. The answer is not likely took over. So the truth is that the addition of Derek Henry.

has transformed the identity of the offensive side of the football for the Baltimore Ravens. And they are willing and able to Tennessee tighten this. And now you're left with the Chica Conquos of the world. And right now on any given day, Mark Andrews can score a touchdown. Isaiah likely can score a touchdown. But like if you were going into the week to start one of them, you're probably starting likely. And then if you, and you shouldn't start either of them. Yeah, I watched a post-game press conference with John Harbaugh where he was really asked about like Andrew's utilization. And his answer was thoughtful and true in the sense that, you know, it's a team sport. And, you know, Andrews is out there playing very, very well, making big plays for them. It's just, you know, sometimes it's not going to work in the receiving game. He says he's going to, you know, he's positive. There's going to be games this season where he has.
