Of course. Jason's wearing his classic plaid ensemble. You know it. And that means we're ready to go. So let's jump into a quick question from at Steve O. Middleton. How much do you look to the preseason as valuable for team and player information? Ooh, love it. So in the preseason, here is what.

I am personally looking for. I'm looking for a usage situation for a particular player. Let's say the one that's jumping out to me is in Denver. Virgil Green, tight end, kind of a darling of the fantasy community because his metrics are unbelievable as an athlete. We kind of thought, hey, maybe last year he'll do something, but he did not. However, Mark Sanchez was looking for him in the passing game. I'm going to track that situation. If Virgil Green continues to get targets,

He's moving up in my draft board. It's funny that you say that because last year we talked about...

One of the positions that it seems every year is a little bit more telling in preseason is the tight end because you can see whether or not they're going to be, you know, first of all, who it's going to be. And second, are they running routes or blocking, you know, you can get a little bit of clues. And this year we've seen that, right? Clyde Walker comes to mine. Advance McDonald. You know, there were, there were reports like, is he going to be the starting tight end? Is he going to be the third string? And he was clearly the guy in that first preseason game.

That's definitely something I look for is I think more about the team and less about the players. Like what is the team doing? And of course, they're masking what their in-season plans are going to be to the best they can. And I also look for if someone is getting particular hype in training camp, does that person actually seem faster or more acclimated to the game? Like Mark Ingram last year, Doug Martin last year.

uh in like i'm thinking of you know the terence west where i don't know if he looks incredible he looks better than terence west has ever looked underre williams andre williams another great name of so these are guys if they're getting the hype check it out with your own eyeballs see if they're if they're passing the test or not yeah that's what it comes down to for me you guys summed it up well i i pay attention to the individual players and how they actually run routes and perform you know sterling shepherd caught one pass

but he was blocking. He looked every bit apart in game one athletically. And so I like watching the player, not the stat line. So that hopefully answers your question there. However, we do have a few bits of news, and then we're going to get into the wide receivers. Washington Post still expects Matt Jones to be the workhorse back in Washington.

I and Jason, Jason has said that he's fading on Matt Jones. I have no reason to fade on Matt Jones at this point. So Jason maybe explain why you are? Sure. The reason that I'm fading is because here's the reality. Does anybody in this room think Matt Jones is a good running back that we've seen on film that you look and say he really excites me as a player? No. I know you want to say yes, Andy.

Yeah, I would say that I consider him to be an NFL running back, yes. Yeah, okay. Okay, I can say that. There are plenty of players that are not in that category. But the real, you know, good appeal of Matt Jones this year is the opportunity. It's the fact that he's going to be the workhorse, just like this post says. I'm starting to doubt that. And the fact that this post comes out, right, nothing has changed. Absolutely nothing has changed there. Why do they need to?

come out and say, hey, I still expect Matt Jones to be the workhorse back. Because the GM talked about Keith Marshall in an interview and everybody freaked out. Yeah, I mean, what I saw and what I think is going to happen is if Matt Jones doesn't perform well, Chris Thompson is going to be heavily involved. I think he's going to be involved regardless. And Keith Marshall.

will get his opportunity the same way Matt Jones got the opportunity when Alfred Morris wasn't doing well. And so I'm just a little bit reluctant to believe that Matt Jones is a lock for the 250 plus carries. That's the only reason I'm fading him is that if he goes out and gets 215 carries, I don't think he's going to be all that super valuable for you and where you're drafting him. There are a few guys that I think I like a little bit better. Yeah, I'll just for...

For his ADP sake, on Fantasy Football Calculator, right now Matt Jones is 505. That is two spots behind Jeremy Langford and Jonathan Stewart. So you are... Give me Jonathan Stewart. You would be taking Jones over those guys. And the guys directly behind Matt Jones, Aryan Foster, Ryan Matthews, and Melvin Gordon. I would take every name that you said.

over Matt Jones, I think. But not because, I mean, I'm not fading Matt Jones. I agree with you. Nobody's ever said he's a lock for that volume. I mean, if any player starts, you know, any player that isn't tenured starts to struggle, the guy behind them is going to get an opportunity, whether it's Latavius Murray and the volume we like for him or anybody else. I mean, Matt Jones had a fumbling issue, so that maybe makes him a little riskier. Yep. But to me, there hasn't been like...

production. It's not like Keith Marshall set the world on fire in preseason game one. I mean, to me, they've come out, they spent the whole camp saying they like Matt Jones. Matt Jones, you know, he said, I think he said it himself that ball security is job security for him. He knows that the job, it comes down to being able to protect it, but I don't think you hand it to a rookie necessarily right off the bat. So I like his odds of being the workhorse. But there you go.

NFL networks Mike Garofalo reports Brandon LaFell is a torn ligament in his hand and Jason weeps. You know, back a couple months ago when you... Wait, you weep and rejoice because you love Tyler Boyd. Yeah, Tyler Boyd is the true guy that I like there. The only reason I'm not crazy high on Boyd because I think he has a lot of talent and he's got good opportunity has been the fact that, you know, Marvin Lewis doesn't use rookies. But...

He's going to pretty much have to at this point. Tyler Boyd is, you know, he's pretty much the second wide receiver there now with this hand injury. And if there's one thing, one thing that Brandon LaFeld does not need. Is it disadvantage at the hand? Is it the disadvantage at the hand? John Harbaugh came out and said no update on Brashad Perryman. Yep. On the partially torn ACL. And we needed to clarify, Marvin Lewis does not expect Lafell to miss week one.

Right. That's a good point. So don't go crazy for Boyd yet. There was some, uh, Joe Flacco talking about Mike Wallace this morning and the impact he's making on that offense. Mike Wallace or Kamar Aiken. Kamar Aiken. It's still Aiken for me. Is it getting closer? No. I think it should. I've seen plenty of Mike Wallace to know that it's, I'm not moving them up until I, until I really see it. Okay. Well, I, I will say this. You want to give me.

uh, Mike Wallace or Brashad Perriman. It's not even close because I, you know, I have zero trust. Mike Wallace or Steve Smith? Mike Wallace. Wallace. Yeah, I think, I think that's the order I go. Aiken, Wallace, uh, price. That's it. Then Smith after that's it. And then, uh, and then, and then Perriman, I'm, I'm never drafting Perriman. If it was a dynasty, I might take him. He shaved his hair.

That's true. He got a lot younger. He does look very good. He lost a lot of age. Hey, before we get into what is really important, I mean, you're talking second half wide receivers. These are the guys here that are going to help you win leagues. Everyone knows the first round, but a couple rounds in, that's where you're going to find the gyms at wide receiver and make a difference over your competition. But before we get to that, we want to tell everybody about one of the best friends of this show.
