John Brown has not returned to practice from his concussion. That's two weeks running, and that's not a good sign at all. Usually, you know, with concussions, you are able to be back in a couple of days, or it's a problem. If it lasts for weeks, you know, it's a problem. And here's why it's a little bit scary is now if you draft the guy and he gets a hard hit in week six, if you've got a history.

of those concussions that linger, it's just, it's a little bit more difficult to get back out. The, you know, the repeatability of brain trauma goes, goes up and gets worse. So that is a little bit scary. And that stinks because I'm so high on John Brown this year. So I just want him to get back on the, on the practice field immediately. Okay. We also, Bruce Ariens is okay.

Oh, great. He was released or supposed to be released from the hospital today. They said he's fine. Okay. So that was another bit of breaking news from yesterday. We didn't cover. A lot of people watch Bruce Ariens on All or Nothing and got to see behind the scenes there. And glad he's doing okay. All right. Jeremy Macklin's the next. The dirty cake himself. Jason, I remember vaguely we made some sort of wager or bet. I don't remember exactly who won those things. Could you elaborate on?

Oh, I can elaborate. Yeah, what was the bet exactly? The bet was that Jeremy Maclin would not go over 1,000 yards. I bet that he would not. Right. You bet that he would. And he squeaked his way over. Oh, come on. He got 1,088 yards. That's not a squeak. I wouldn't, I wouldn't say it was a squeak either. Yeah, exactly. But the way he did it, you might call a bit of a squeak.

So, so Macklin, like we said, 87 catches, almost 1100 yards and eight touchdowns. Beautiful. The eight touchdowns was very surprising for me. But here's why he's the dirty cake, right? He had monster games. So he played 15 games. He had three humongous games of 141, 148, 160, where he was just, he looked like Jeremy Macklin from the Eagles. However.

If you average out the other 12 games he had, he was averaging 53 yards a game. Welcome to life as a wide receiver in Kansas City. Exactly. That's the reality. And the targets were just so erratic of your, oh, he's going to get 13 targets here. Now he's going to get three. There was no consistency from the dirty cake. I am still firmly in the camp that I would adore Jeremy Maclin. Jeremy Maclin. Marklin as my wide receiver. I love.

Jeremy Marklin. As you sip your LaCroix. I am firmly in the camp that I adore him as a wide receiver too. If you look at his prolific upper tier in the Chip Kelly offense season in 2014, you're talking about 143 targets, 85 catches, 1,300 yards, and 10 touchdowns. You put him in the opposite offense of sorts, you know, a defensive oriented team that likes to run the ball, likes to be saved with Alex Smith.

87 receptions, 124 targets, almost 1,100 yards, and 8 touchdowns. I can dig it. That's my... Give me a wide receiver 2 that gets me a good baseline and gives me some boom games from here to there. I'm just fine with it. He'll probably be on a lot of my team. I will say this. I actually...

I feel like my wide receiver, too, I have the different approach than you on this. And maybe that's just a different strategy. I would prefer the Julian Edelman or the Golden Tate, the guys. And those are the two guys going right next to Jeremy Macklin right now. Those three guys are, you're going to pick between one of those guys and you're not going to get them in the next round. And for me, if I grabbed a big guy.

early on in the draft and got an AJ Green or someone like that, then I want that consistency for my wide receiver 2 as opposed to the boom. The guy that's going to get 10 targets a game versus the guy that could get 13 targets or 4. Whoa.

Yeah, I mean, I guess I don't think we're talking about the same thing here because Macklin, to me, is that consistency. Just because he had, yeah, I mean, I'm looking at his games. He was extremely consistent. He was the 15th best wide receiver and it wasn't just because of boom games. I mean, he had double digits in three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine of his 16 games. His targets, 11, 13, 12, those are great. Then four, five, six, six, then 11, 10. I mean, it's like.

You're going to have those stretches where he gets double-digit targets if they're passing the ball that game. But you've got runs where he's just getting five targets a game, six. I mean, I think when I look at Jeremy Macklin, he is the number one for his team. He will produce on the season, but I don't think you're going to have the consistency week to week that you would have with an Edelman or a tape. It's funny because.

We are just diametrically opposed on this. Fair enough. I mean, last year, we need another waterbed. You already did one. Wide receiver consistency ratings last year. Jeremy Macklin was 13th in the NFL where Golden Tate and Julian Edelman were in the 20s. So from a week to week perspective, we just disagree on Jeremy Macklin what he brings to the table. I mean, getting, he didn't have duds through the board. Yeah, and a lot of that was very lucky in the sense of two of those games where he had four targets.

He got a touchdown in those games. Which is what we like from Brandon Marshall. No, no. I'm just saying it just worked. That's not lucky, though. It worked. Well, it's a quarter. Because you only got four targets the game. One of them was a touchdown. That's great. You're saying it's luck. I'm not going to say the word luck, but to score on four targets is, uh, it's great. You're arguing against statistics to me.

No, because the stats say he's more consistent. Because of the touch. If you're talking about a guy like Marshall. Because he can do that. That's what he can do. He's a red zone target. He also gets the ball. You're looking at just his target numbers? No. He gets the ball on end-arounds. He runs the ball. They run it with him. So to me, I think Jeremy Mackley needs to be the center of some sort of very ferocious bet. Okay. We'll have to come up with that. We need some kind of a cake. A full-on cake in the face bet.

For Jeremy Macklin. Yeah. I mean, to me, a guy that finished 15th last year that you can get now, we're ranking him 19? All right. Here's a good bet. We've got to find the area where we don't, where we disagree on Macklin. A thousand yards receiving. Well, no. I'm joking. But we'll find that area. And whoever wins the bet, the loser has to eat cake off the ground.

I mean, that just makes sense with this one. This is the dirty cake. I have no problem with that. All right. So we'll get back. I will saddle up and ride Jeremy Macon. Well, after the show, we'll figure out what that threshold is going to do. The dirty cake bed. And that's it for the show. It's the Jeremy Maclin show. No, Michael Floyd coming in behind Jeremy Maclin and our rankings for whatever reason, Mike, you have no numbers beside these guys. So this would be 16, 17, 18, 19. This is our 20th ranked wide receiver.

Look, we just talked about John Brown. If these things linger, this could be a separator for Michael Floyd and John Brown. Floyd looked really good in the preseason. He had, what was it, six out of eight games with 100 yards towards the end of the season? Yeah, in the final eight games, he had five of eight. Okay, there you go. He went over 100. He was averaging 80 yards a game in those. And so week eight through 17, once Floyd was really back and the hand was fully healthy, he was the wide receiver 20 and that he missed a game.

in that time period. So once he was back, he was very dominant. Yeah, you're in a high power offense. He is a first round talent. And this year, he's in a contract year. So, you know, those things are helpful for pushing through injuries or, you know, really laying everything on the line because he wants to get paid. He's a favorite of mine in standard leagues, not as much in full point leagues. And that's very fair. And

60 you can you can bet that um but he is a he's a big play threat he's somebody that uh was very very good towards the end of the year and i i think i was very high on him in the beginning of the off season and kind of like jason with john brown we've all realized that game to game fitzgerald brown floyd are going to be the focal point at times and so it's hard to just jump all in on a guy you know in the beginning of the off season i was saying floyd

to me has top 12 potential. He still does. Yeah, it's just really, it's one of those tough mouse clicks if you're drafting him. You're just like, am I really going to bet on Michael Floyd? 65 is your answer. He's 65. Okay. In 2013, that's when he was 65 for over 1,000. Do you remember when, you know who that reminds me of? Vincent Jackson. Sure. For years and years, Vincent Jackson was this mythical creature in fantasy football that.

Look like he could always be a superstar, but only caught 60 balls. So let me ask you this. Are you willing to bet on Michael Floyd in your draft? Are you willing to, you know, you talk about other players you're willing to draft and lose with? Are you willing to take the chance of Michael Floyd? Michael Floyd is currently going at the top of the fifth round. So behind him is Eric Decker and Moncrief with my passionate and romantic feelings for Dante Moncrief.

I would take Moncrief at the top of the fifth. What about you, Jason? Yeah, I would take both Decker and Moncrief over Floyd. I think Floyd has a higher ceiling than Eric Decker, for sure. And I think probably just as high a ceiling as Dante Moncrief. But my expectations coming into this year are that you're going to end up with those games where Larry Fitzgerald and John Brown just...

They had the right coverage that game. And the ball went that way with any of the Arizona, I think I'm starting to realize that I think the safest Arizona Cardinal might be Larry Fitzgerald. Yeah. He's definitely the safest. I mean, look at the target totals last year and the reception totals.

Yeah, so for me, I do like Michael Floyd. I think he's a guy that despite his ADP being ahead of Decker and Moncrief, I've seen drafts where he falls because, you know, he's the type of guy where you either have someone that really believes in him or everyone kind of is like, eh. And so he can fall and become a value in your draft, but he's not going to be bad. None of the Arizona Cardinal and wide receivers with that offense are going to be bad on the season. So when you grab one, you're grabbing a player that you can put in your lineup and play. You just got to make sure you get the right value on.

three gets injured off the field do you feel the same way about j j nelson coming into the the third wide receiver role i think personally as this i'm i this might surprise both of you i don't know what kind of take i'm going to get on this but i think geron brown is the player that i'm more excited about in that in that fourth wide receiver role he has flashed all training camp uh he he's looked good in replacement of john brown

So that's the guy that I would actually be a little higher. I think that Geron would be the replacement. Jordan Matthews and Eric Decker are the next two names on our list, 21 and 22. I think we've talked at length about Decker. Consistency is his middle name. It actually, I looked on the birth certificate. It's a weird middle name. It's probably why he falls in fantasy drafts. It's very, very forward. Forward thinking, yeah. So I'd rather talk mostly about.

Jordan Matthews here. Boy, I don't like Jordan Matthews. Jordan Matthews, I don't know what to do with him as well. Last year, 85 catches almost 1,000 yards on 127 targets. You're talking to a completely different offense. He, to me, he's still the best wide receiver on the team. But is he going to play? If Jeremy Macon is the dirty cake, Jordan Matthews is the shiny poop. Oh, come on. That's what?

I mean, there's nothing more defining of him because you have this. He was the winner, right? In our postseason awards. I would stick with calling him the garbage man. The garbage man. Yeah. Okay, he's the shiny garbage. That's fine. All right. That's more appropriate. Much more appropriate. So Jordan Matthews, you want to talk about a garbage man. 50% of his yards came in four games. I like how on our show notes you write 50% of yards in four games. And then you have the.

The sad diagonal face. The diagonal face. Just saying, that's tough. Because that's not a situation that you want to count of. He's a perfect example of the end of season numbers did not match how you felt about playing him every single week. But like I said, in my opinion, best wide receiver on the team.
