Good morning, everybody. This is the Fantasy Footballers podcast. It is Saturday. Surprise. July 11th. And we have a bonus show. What? Yeah, the, I'm sitting in my house, mine in my own business. I look in the sky and the foot signal. I saw it go off. Uh-huh, uh-huh. So I grabbed my gear and I headed over to the studio. You really don't have any other choice.
No, that bookier is in the air. The people have questions, and we wanted to answer himself. Well, you think Batman could be like, uh, the signals up. Maybe tomorrow. Not today. I'm on a date. Uh, not today. I'm on with Kim Basinger. Oh, I was going, Michael, Michael Keaton. Yeah. Uh, we are the fantasy footballers, and this is the fantasy footballers podcast. We got a bonus episode today where.
We are mostly going to be answering listener questions across the fantasy football spectrum. So everything that's been sent into us via the website, the fantasyfootballers.com, there is a submit a question button in the upper right corner. You can send in your question. Tell us a little bit about your league. Everybody's doing it.

Yeah. Anything going on? Oh, I've got great news. I showered today. That is seriously the best news. Breaking news. Yeah, I was without hot water for a couple of days.
And that is not fun to have an ice water available anywhere at any time you want in your house, but no hot water. So I finally was able to take a shower today with hot water fixed. You didn't just cold shower? I thought about it. Like a beast? No, I cold did my hair. And I stunked up. I'm glad that this didn't coincide with like flag football night in some fashion. That would have been awful. I stink enough after that. Yeah, that's true. Let's go ahead and read a review.
Review Osaurus Rags. This one comes in from Juiced Machine. This is big time. Was this Antonio Gates? Yeah. Oh. Lo blow. Oh, that was too fun. Well, Juiced Machine. Antonio Gates says, normally I don't review things, but I had to give you guys props. Honestly,
You are second to none and provide both entertaining and intriguing insight into the world of fantasy football. I look forward to the next episode each time. Keep up the good work and hopefully pain will be a beast. Yeah. Major pain. Major pain. Camera nerdist. Those reviews are definitely performance enhancing to me. Yeah. Thank you for that. If you want to leave us a review, you can do so on iTunes.
Just search for fantasy football on iTunes. We'll come up. Leave us a five-star review. If you listen on Android or those devices, we always appreciate reviews there as well on Stitcher. If you can figure it out. Yeah, if you can figure it out. It's a little harder to figure out on those places. You can also find us on Facebook. I want to remind people, everyone's on Facebook, so we are as well. Facebook.com slash the fantasy footballers. And, yeah, we're here. Let's just get into some news. Yeah, let's do it. We've got a little bit of news and knows to talk about, and then we'll just do mailbag.
News and Notes from Around the League. I do actually want to talk about this first note, and this is Doug Martin, because we actually haven't talked about this enough. I know, I know, I know. We just did our review of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the running back situation. But if he's a starting running back, eighth round value? Yeah. Dude.
You gotta come off of that, man. The weight. The sour, bitter mouth face that you get with, Doug Martin is not worth missing out on value if he's a starter. What did you say you love about running backs? When they lose weight. Thank you. And he's 225 to 210. And, you know, if he's impressing the coaches in camp over their guy, Charles Sims, then maybe we need to pay attention. And they've got an easy run schedule and, in theory, a quarterback that...
You just don't know. I mean, it's not like Doug Martin wasn't an elite fantasy option. That's true. He was an elite fantasy option because of volume. Okay. And one monster game. He had that great game and some other good games, but he just was volume. That's what it was. Go ahead, Jay. I think Doug Martin has a place to be picked, and I certainly think that Doug Martin has potential, like a lot of late guys to have a higher ceiling.
But right now I look at his ADP, and I still think he's probably going a little too early. Too early? Where's he going? Eighth round? In the last month? No, seventh. He's going ahead of some of these guys. Let me give you some running backs. He's going ahead of Isaiah Crowell. No. I wouldn't do that. Trey Mason. I would rather have the first half of the year on Trey Mason. Probably. Darren McFadden, Danny Woodhead.
Okay. No. Reggie Bush? Point made. Chris Ivory? I guess the point I made. Oh, come on. The only point I would make about it, yeah, and all those guys are being underdrafted then in that situation. Yeah. Is that three weeks into the season, if Doug Martin, the starting running back for the Buccaneers is out on waivers, everybody's running after a start. I mean, look how people treat running backs during the season on the waiver wire. That's why it's worth talking about a little bit. Are you really excited about the starting running back for the Tennessee Titans? No.
No, but a similar argument could be made that you could accidentally give value for either of those guys if they're getting the majority of the carries. Yes. Because like you said, volume, do I want them as my RB1 or two or three? Probably not, but spot start, that type of thing. Yeah, fair. I don't know. My starter goes down. I'd rather have Doug Martin starting for the bucks than, you know, some backup somewhere. The fact that he got the first team reps and the vast majority of them, that was the only piece of news that I actually cared about. I think that that's important.
Yeah, so what else do we got on the news from? We got Greg Hardy had a suspension cut from 10 games to four games in a bewildering turn of events to me. I mean, I just... What is going on with the NFL? Like, we're going to ban you from playing football, and then not, and then they kick someone out, and then they give Brady a four game, and then they reduce Greg Hardy's. They're just all over the map. The argument for Greg Hardy's suspension being reduced is that he already missed 15 games. I mean, he missed the whole season. And I kind of agree with that. It kind of makes sense, but...
It is an easy Twitter sphere comparison to say, oh my goodness, the flake guy got four games and then the guy who dragged his girl down the stairs or allegedly or whatever it is. No, allegedly. Yeah. You got to say that. Allegedly. Yeah. So what does this mean for the Dallas defense? It means really good things, probably. It's a lot better than it was. Yeah. With McLean being suspended now for four games as well. Anything else of fantasy relevance to talk about?
Not really? Okay. Not since the show. Let's go ahead and answer some listener questions. Get to the heart of the show. Mail. Saturday. Thank you. I was hoping you throw something in. Oh, it's special. Because this show is all about the Foot Clan. It's all about you, the listener. Why we do what we do. We appreciate every single one of you that is...
engaging us on Twitter that is sending in questions that is calling us out on our voice mailbox which anybody anybody can do we welcome that because then that then we just our blood starts we welcome it if you're willing to poke the bear that's right that's right we actually uh i want to say this real quick before we answer some of these the guy who did who called in with the auto drafting that we kind of like were marveling at he actually emailed back in
Oh, I didn't know that. And he explained a strategy a little bit, which wasn't blind auto-drafting. He did say he's the most active in the waiver wire, and he said he does, like, a lot of work on building his list for the auto-draft. So... That makes a lot more sense. It helps the situation. That you don't have three kickers auto-drafted to your team. Yeah, so...
I still think the waiver work he's doing is the most important. You do not win a championship in a draft alone. You win championships with trades and waivers. Yeah, it's the whole game, right? Yes. I've seen a lot of people with great drafts fall apart. We have that happen in our dynasty league all the time. People with piles and piles of great picks, make an okay draft, and then...
You know, you got to be active. I think that's a mistake, since we're talking about it, I think that that's a mistake that a lot of players make. They listen before the fantasy football season. They listen before the draft. They read information. They go read the blogs. And then after the draft, they kind of stop accumulating new stuff.
And during the season, you know, that's an unfair advantage. During the season, keep after it, keep going and listen to these things because that is really the difference of who makes the playoffs, who gets to the championship, are those during season weeks. So don't let that down. You've really convinced me. I think we should record shows during the season. Okay. To help players as well. All right. Man, we're going to do it. Yeah. So let's go ahead and answer some listener questions. The first question here comes in.
from Alec in Delaware. He says he was able to acquire the seventh and eighth overall picks at a cheap price through trading of picks, which I like. For those two picks, he's stuck between Antonio Brown, Arian Foster. I'm guessing that is Levy on Bell and Jeremy Hill. Brown Foster. Yeah. Antonio Brown. Aaron Foster. Yeah. Antonio Brown. Aaron Foster.
Lev Bell and Jeremy Hill. Okay. Which two guys would you take if you were me? And this is a 10-team standard league. If I am in a 10-team standard, I am taking Arian Foster and I am taking Levi-on-Bel if it's me. That is exactly mine. Easy-peasy. What do we got? I'm going Jeremy Hill and Levi-on-Bel. Wow. And that makes sense with the way our rankings break down.
Yeah, plain and simple. I knew Hill would be in yours. Especially standard. Yep. So hopefully that helps you out there. Alec. Next question comes in from Brad from Burlington. Coat Factory. He's been in there a while. I wonder where Burlington is. Somebody should... It's in Vermont. Is it really? I was there for my good friend's wedding. I was going to have you effort that and you already knew. You got it. Well, done. Well done. I actually answered this question on YouTube as well.
You can go check it out on YouTube. You did? Yeah. Well, let me read it. Double stone. Yeah, it's a true double stop. Is it better to draft four to five average running backs such as Joe Bernard, Gordon, Ellington, and then grab grade A receivers? Or would it be better to draft high on running backs, such as AP, Marshawn Lynch, and get average receivers? Well, maybe I should answer. I was just going to say, I want you guys to answer. I've already done it. So I want to see if I'm different. I've got the answer. All right.
