This episode is brought to you by State Farm. Every football fan is different. Some won't wash their lucky mustard-stained jersey until the season's over. Some insist they can't sit down on third downs and some pick their favorite team because, I don't know, just like football fandom, nobody's life is exactly the same. And that's why State Farm gets to know you, not as a policy number, but as an actual person.

Tuesday, November night, the fantasy footballers welcoming you into another episode of the podcast. Welcome in. I mean, I guess thank you. I got your back, Andy. Welcome in, everybody.
Oh, we're not doing that? No, no, no, we are. I mean, now we've all done it. And it's done. We did it. I think this is the most welcome our listeners have ever felt. I hope so. Triple welcomed. More welcoming than the waiver wire this week. Oh, gross. And that word no longer makes sense to me. Welcome. Oh, because you've said it too many times. Too many times. Yeah. Welcome into the show, Foot Clan. Oh, no. The Quadro. Welcome, Footland. Yeah, there we go. All right.
Yeah, that's enough. Way to beat a dead horse there, owl. Owl. You guys were pausing and looking at me. I felt obligated. Too much, owl. I would never, I didn't look at you. No one to quit. I'll see myself out. I can't believe you're still here. I mean, didn't you, we fired this guy after the whole, after the Green Bay thing. Yeah. Then he dunked on us. Dumped on us. Dumped on us. We had a Monday night football game.
And I had a unique experience and we'll reflect on this game for a moment, some takeaways. We have waivers on the show today. We have where there's smoke, there's fire. Lots to talk about. Lots to get you ready for week 10 coming up. How are we in week 10? I mean, this is. It's got to be better than week 9. Time travel. Yeah, I know the bears should have won the game just to fulfill the week 9 prophecy. Yeah, but the refs made sure that that didn't happen. Well, that's what I was going to say. It was funny because I, you know, I'm a young hip guy. You know what I mean? Oh, extremely.
And so I was at a concert last night. Oh. And I didn't know Creed was in town. Dang it. Yeah, they're going, they're touring again. They're back. Yeah. So anyway. But I'm, look, I'm committed to my, to my craft. And so I watched the whole football game. But I watched it without any sound. So I had no commentary. Oh. Which was unique, right? Like the sound, the sounds off. I've got it on, it's on dim.
A buddy and mine were watching it. This is on a phone, right? He's on a phone in the middle of a concert. Nice. Which, by the way, way too loud. I'm very old. Well, hooty knows how to party. It was hooty open for Creed. That was the concert. Thank you. Sweet mercy. But I didn't have any commentary. You know, I didn't hear the announcers. I didn't hear. So I had just my assumptions about what took place, which were one,
The refs seem to have it out for one team. Okay? And this was even before that ridiculous taunting call that I assume the commentary was like, that's a ridiculous taunting call. So it seemed like the refs had it out for the Bears, lots of ridiculous calls. And then correct me if I'm wrong, but that timeout by Matt Nagy, what was that?
Uh, trash at the very end of the game? It seemed like you could have used it to come back and win the game. That was the old. So you could throw to the middle of the field one time. It was the ultimate budget magician move of, oh. That was to ice him, right? I'm going to ice him. Oh my gosh. Not factoring in that that's just a bunch of hocus pocus. And you have enough time that with a single time out, you have a puncher's chance.
to go down and kick your own field goal. And instead, he self-sabotaged the entire team. Well, sometimes people are idiots. And that would be one such example. You saw Tomlin had a timeout left and did not ice the kicker. Can we talk for a second about that last kick? How the first angle. I mean, that thing hit the crossbar. Yeah, I was with.
the viewers that saw it be just short. It was so short. And apparently it was just an optical illusion. He didn't get it anywhere near the goalpost. Again, look, it was straight. I may pile on to Matt and Aggie from time to time. You dressed up as him for Halloween. No, that wasn't me. That was him. He was here. You have to know your personnel.
You have to know if your kicker has the leg to even physically make that kick. And one time out would have won him in the game. And the answer to that, but I'm saying, how do you not throw the, 100% had to throw the Hail Mary? Yes, your percentage of hitting the Hail Mary, I understand. It's like whatever, one to two percent. But if your kicker can't physically make it, then the percentage chance that they make it.
is in fact zero. Yeah, his career long was 55, and they're like, well, watch this. We could. Fifty-five! Was there a wind? Was he hoping for a gust? No, it's a difficult stadium to kick in as well. Obviously, the very late penalty, the egregious awful, trash, taunting. Taunting.
penalty. This taunting stuff reminds me of when they banned celebrating in the end zone for multiple years. No one asked for this NFL. Nobody. And then who's going to flag the ref? Because that was some, that was some taunting he did on the flag toss. And we'll get to the actual game. But the final thing I'll say about it is the ref was asked, did the bump have anything to do with it? Because if you watch the replay, the player is trying to get around. The referee steps back into him.
and then immediately throws the flag. The ref says that had absolutely nothing to do with the taunting call. He's saying what he saw was the player staring into the opposition's bench. Except when you Zapruder film this thing, he is reaching for his flag before he, the player even makes it around him where the ref can't see what a supposed taunt has taken place. It was.
unbelievably egregious and disgusting. And that poor guy who was just activated had made, like, perhaps the play of his career. And now everyone on the side is mad at him for something he didn't even do. Yeah, it was ridiculous. Justin Fields, in my opinion, best game he's played. I was going to ask, like, where are you after? Was that enough for you? Yes, there's hope.
There, yeah, okay. There's hope because there's hope as long as he doesn't get multiple years of Nagy to destroy him like Sam Darnold. Right. He needs to get, naggy needs to go. But Justin Fields last night was, it was a redeeming performance, making good plays down the field. You know, the throw to Alan Robinson was a good throw. I mean, he missed a lot of throws too. Sure. Yes. But the throw to Mooney is the best throw he's ever made in the NFL this far. Rolling left, crossed his body, pinpoint accuracy in the corner of the end zone.
This was a really impressive performance by Justin Fields. David Montgomery, clearly the lead back alone. Yeah, it went fully back. Jason, you were 100% correct. It went fully back to David Montgomery. And you had, you know, he looked good. I mean, David Montgomery looked good. Oh, yeah. For 4.8 to carry on the Pittsburgh Steelers. And so I think you have confidence going forward. Obviously, the Chicago Bears are on by now.
So it'll be one more week until you get to really enjoy David. Do you drop Chase Claypool? I think you. To move forward towards the end of the year. He's not like one of those players that you have to drop. He will never do anything again. And looking at the waiver, we'll go into it. I can't imagine any of these names that we're going to bring up on today's show. I'd rather have over Claypool, but I understand that it is like he just keeps getting hurt.
Big Ben. Oh, my goodness. It looks so bad. The single play, the play that he completed the long bomb at the end to James Washington, I have never seen a worse throw. He had four seconds to.
Cock, lock, and rip that thing. He does the two-step jump javelin throw. Watch how far I can throw this. And he under threw the ball by 10 yards. And I don't think he was going to James Washington. I think he was going to Deontay Johnson and just can't throw the ball far. And then James Washington runs back, dives for the ball, and catches it. It's like when you throw a frisbee up in the air and it just happens to coast and then start somehow coming back to you.
mental picture I have of the Steelers right now. It's like the car that's got a bunch of broken parts. And every week is like getting one more mile further down the road before it breaks down. It's like you just survive. It's like the car's on empty. It's below E. But you got another mile on the freeway. And you're just waiting for the shoe to drop. Well, sometimes you put that like enhancer in the gas tank. And that's...
That's the friar muth, baby. I was going to say, let's get to the important part of this. Luth. Oh, man. He got so loose on prime times. Yeah, baby, the number one best rookie tied in dominating out here. Double touchdowns. You love to see it. Yeah, I mean, great place. He's, yeah, he's a solid player, six targets, five for 43 with two scores here. And he was Luth. So Luth. Luth. Luth.
It's really great when stuff like this happens. It really is. The Twitter was just filled. Oh, yeah. There was so much joy in the world. I'm shocked. For a moment in time, everyone was happy. That the stadium didn't in unisome say, mute is loose. Did you say in unisome? Well, they're sleepy. That's a new audio processing. Let's move on. Where there's smoke, there's fire. Presented by Trigger Grills.
Carson wins. Three straight top 12 weeks. Four out of the last five. Number five overall finish against the Jets. He has been taking shots downfield and he's been avoiding interceptions for the most part other than the whirling end zone left-handed. I mean, right-handed interceptions are down. That's all I'm saying. So he's playing well despite having, you know, Paris Campbell go out and having.
