Coming to you from the Playdraft Studios with your host, Andy Holloway, Jason Moore, and Mike Wright. Yeah, it's Tuesday. Waver Day! It's Tuesday, September 19th. It should really be a weekly holiday for all businesses. Oh, you get the day off? Yeah, it's Waver Day. Or at least the morning. Just to handle the bids? Yeah, I mean, if you're in a lot of leagues, it takes some time.
Set all these waivers. Take some time to do it right. Let's see some people want to wave goodbye to last week. But we'll be getting into the waivers on today's show, the fantasy footballers podcast. Mike can't contain the music. Never. It's in my heart. All right. Hey, look. Last night there was some football. Kind of. Seven straight. One team had some football. Seven straight games for the Giants now without 20 points. Seven consecutive games for eight, quote unquote.
Great and a magnificent offense with all the weapons in the world. Odell Beckham Jr. and Marshall and Angram. And no running backs. Well, no offensive line. I mean, smash Jackson. I'm not going to completely give him a pass on this one, but he has, for what his ability is, he has no chance. Levion Bell could not succeed if he was the running back for the New York Giants. I mean, when they snap the ball.
I feel so bad for Eli Manning, who's just like, please someone get open quick because there's like three guys smashing my face every single play. When he took the hit, I know he got the ball off, but the hit where the defender just landed on his face. Yeah. I mean, for all the things you can say about Eli Manning, the man is indestructible. I mean, he's like Super Dave Osborne. You just, you beat him up, but he keeps on playing.
Keeps on playing. Matthew Stafford looking great once again. Well, yeah, I thought he was. He is much more of a quarterback than he's ever been. Okay. I thought you were talking about like for fantasy purposes. Who's fine for fantasy purposes? Yeah. Fine to. Two touchdowns. Two touchdowns. Yeah. The yardage wasn't there. No, the yardage wasn't there at all. But you didn't need it. And as a quarterback, they're two and no. They took out the Cardinals and the Giants.
And Marvin Jones, once again, this is one of the reasons we said, look, Marvin Jones is probably still the guy to own if you need reliable fantasy production versus Kenny Gulliday, despite the smooth rounds. Oh, they're so smooth, but they were... One catch. Heard some miscues, some bad notes, and he couldn't smooth them into the jazz. Oh, man, I watched the movie Whiplash last night. Have you seen that yet? It's not my tempo. Yeah, it's not my tempo. Goodness gracious. Yeah, you bring up the music, and that's...
That is a very anxiety-inducing movie. I have some very hot takes on that movie, but that's for another show. Really? Dipper podcast. All right. I think the tight-ins were a highlight from last night. Absolutely. If you were initialed EE, you had a great game. Both of these guys, I mean, this is a waiver day. Both these guys are worthy of picking up off the way that waivers, the way that they were used, and the talent that each of them have. Man, I feel so good about.
my Eric Ebron and Kobe Fleener. I've gotten so much grief from last year, the love I gave them. Be very careful. What comes out of your mouth right now. It's going to be a brief moment in the sun. It's like I'm, where is that? When you're in Alaska and you get, you get a little bit of the sun for the year. For an hour a day. That was fun. Yeah, enjoy week two on those two. But look, you're right so far.
Yeah, so far. Follow us on Twitter at the FFBallers. Look, we invite you to come check out, join thefoot.com or fantasy football community. There are over 4,000 fantasy football players who love to play fantasy football. They're in leagues together. They answer waiver questions, trade questions. They're good people's, too. Yeah, they're very good people. If they listen to the show, that makes them good peoples. Is that how it works? Yeah, for sure.
Is that, can you actually, in a court of law, if you've committed a crime, can you show your subscriptions? Your honor, you're on. I'm a member of the foot. It's basically like fight club, though, because there's a good chance at the judge. I'll say the judge is going to wink and be like, I don't know what you're talking about. Case dismissed. Case dismissed. All right, let's go ahead and get into the news. News and notes from around the league. Andrew Luck has been ruled out of week three against the Browns. What are you doing with Andrew Luck, Andy?
You're the resident Andrew Luck guy on the show this year. You ever heard the term pot committed? I have. Is that where we are? Sure. I think that is where you are. I mean, pot committed is actually a really good analogy. You invested in him. You've waited this long. I think you have, I mean, you're pot committed to waiting for him to come back. Yeah, I don't think much has changed. I mean, because he's still out. Yeah. Just saying, I mean, to already be ruled out for week three, which.
He's got to practice. For fantasy players, that's nice. But, yeah, when is Andrew Luck coming back? Is there any like? Carson Wentz is in the corner winking at you, just saying, hey. They said. I'll give you your Andrew Luck right here. Yeah. They said a couple weeks ago, he was probably not going to play until October. So I think, you know, they're just, they're going to stick to that. And that's why they're able to rule them out early right now. They're saying October's is, October is the new September. That's what they're saying. There you go.
Sam Bradford's believed to have a bone bruise. Vikings will reevaluate after seeing how he responds to an injection. So Dr. Fieldgood's coming in there. Do you think he'll play this week? Man, I've seen things all over the place. And I'm talking like not just not just people pretending to be doctors, actual doctors on Twitter weighing in on this thing. I mean, this could be potentially really bad, like a multiple week.
type of situation. So if you are, if you were depending on Sam Bradford, you need to position yourself, uh, in an aggressive manner to be without him. Like if you're in a two quarterback league, hopefully you grab that third quarterback and he can fill in for you. It's in the meantime, it's going to be a downgrade for Diggs. It's going to be a downgrade for Thielen for Rudolph. If Case Keenham continues, I mean, it,
Just from what I have read from actual trusted doctors on Twitter, I mean, if we get into a situation a month from now and they're saying, hey, we think that Teddy Bridgewater is going to be our starting quarterback, that won't shock me if that happens. It's crazy. Yes, it is. But I'm glad you brought up the two quarterback situation because there are a lot of people in those league formats that are trying to make decisions on the waiver wire this week. You need to help your situation. Okay. Randall Cobb's MRI came back negative on his shoulder.
Jordan Nelson is 50-50 for week three. So you've got to monitor both of those players. If both missed the game, is there an advantageous pickup this week? Is it Martellus Bennett? Is it Geronimo? I mean, probably not. I mean, 11 targets last week for Bennett when these two missed some time. I say Bennett gets the target upgrade. I mean, he was forcing the ball to, and even Richard Rogers. Yeah, they were out of options.
on Sunday night. Terrence West, dealing with a soft tissue injury day to day. Basically, Terrence West, this could have been why the snap count was so incredibly disproportionate. I would say it is why. Yeah. Right. Which is good news for West in the sense that he's not losing the role and, you know, Buck Allen isn't just taking over. All right. Jimmy Graham's now questionable for week three ankle injury. Ugh.
Yeah, it was weird because on that play, it seemed like he hurt his knee. And then afterwards, it was an ankle. The earliest reports on it have not looked good, already talking about him missing week three. Here's the problem with Jimmy Graham. You had two terrible weeks. Now you have a potential questionable situation. He hasn't produced. The offense has been bad. The offensive line has been bad. He's banged up. And you have a number of names, Ebron, Ingram. Fleener. The nice thing is that.
Let's say you lost Olson. Do you drop it? That's the point. Okay. That's my question is do you drop Jimmy Graham to go get one of these other players? I was asking. Yeah, I was talking to Mike about this yesterday in the office just as a man, do you drop Jimmy Graham? And I realize if someone else dropped Jimmy Graham, I would pick him up. So that means I wouldn't drop him, but.
it's a completely team-dependent thing because if you're in a situation where you know you have another injury or you need to pick a guy up there's someone valuable on waivers you don't have a great player to cut then yes absolutely you can cut jimmy graham but i would in this situation probably be rostering two tight ends i want to give you some of the day-to-day injury news demarko murray terence west rob grankowski jordan reed
Rob Kelly, Randall Cobb, Corey Davis. Circling back to Rob Kelly, I have not seen a bit of an update. The last time Gruden talked about it, they said that they believed he had a fractured rib. Do we have any update as to his timetable? I've heard that the rib is not fractured. This is a cartilage issue. So it's feasible that he suits up and plays for week three.
Like Jordy Nelson, I mean, I would put this at about 50-50. You need to be prepared for him to not play for you. I saw Gruden come out and talk about Chris Thompson and how they have to be careful with Chris Thompson. They don't want to give him very many reps. They'd like to increase his role a little bit. It seemed like that was in the context of not having Rob Kelly. Yeah. Because they were asking basically, look, if you don't have them, what are you going to do with Chris Thompson? So. That's why P. Ryan's on the waivers or in the waiver show. Yeah, and we're moving on. We're talking waivers right now.
Put me in, coach. All right, let's start at the wide receiver position. John Brown, likely to miss this week. Basically, I think Bruce Ariens said, quote, it'd have to be a miracle for him to play. J.J. Nelson, barely owned in either ESPN or Yahoo Leagues. Five for 120 and a touchdown on seven targets has Dallas, San Francisco, Philly, the next three games. Not very intimidating. Certainly the next two. Another great. Great pickup.
Great pickup, great play. I mean, you know, sometimes you're picking these guys up because there's reason to believe they can develop into something. But at the wide receiver position, I don't want to hold developmental players. I want to pick a guy up and put him in my lineup if I'm grabbing a wide receiver. That's what you have here in J.J. Nelson. He will be a good starting option, whether it's in a flex or even in the wide receiver position. I mean, you're talking a guy with.
The upside to finish is a wide receiver 1 in a given week, and the likelihood is that he'll be above that wide receiver 3 range. So J.J. Nelson is, I think, a really good pickup. By the way, we will have our streaming quarterback picks on today's show after the waivers section, so pay attention for that. Here's a name that you might not even know. He is basically unowned everywhere, and yet went 7 for 95 on 11 targets last week, and that is Richard.
