This episode is brought to you by State Farm. Every football fan is different. Some won't wash their lucky mustard-stained jersey until the season's over. Some insist they can't sit down on third downs and some pick their favorite team because, I don't know, just like football fandom, nobody's life is exactly the same. And that's why State Farm gets to know you, not as a policy number, but as an actual person.

to the fantasy footballers podcast with your host, Andy Holloway, Jason Moore, and Mike Wright. Oh, welcome in. Tuesday, May 17th. The fantasy footballers back with you, Mike Wright, Jason Moore, Andy Holloway, and the Ducers. Yeah. The three squirliest.
producers in all the land. I look back. I saw several of them deciding if they were going to jump in on the microphones and no one did. No, that's fine. No, that's better. Well done. Good decision making. But it's the, so it's fellas is the middle of May. Very excited about football, fully focused. Oh, yeah. It's only football around here. Laser focused on the NFL. Yeah, I mean, what else would we be focused on? I don't know. Family? I'm just reminding people.
That we are locked in. We are a one sport team here, and it is football. Yeah, we can't be diverted from football for other fandom. Locked in. And we're fine. We're super fine. Yeah, we're good, man. Nothing. None of us wearing any paraphernalia. Being an Arizona sports fan sucks. Yeah, I mean.
So we're going to talk about it. People want to hear us talk about it. Do they? Yes, they do. They want to revel in our tears. The sons were humiliated. It was the worst, most disappointing loss in the history of the organization because they had the best year they've ever had. It is a disappointment the likes I never want to live again. And it was like the basketball parallel of what Kyler did out in the field.
Yes. Against Aaron Donald and company. It very much felt like that. It was terrible. I'm not going to apologize for being a fan because that's how you, you know, I saw a lot of people Duncan. They were dunking on us. And look, that's fine. That's fine. That's what being a fan is. Being a fan of a team, the whole spirit of this show is an unadulterated passion for a team, a player. It's what makes sports great. If you want me to be unbiased,
sorry. I'm not going to be unbiased. I am very biased for the teams that I like and the players that I like. That's what being a fan is. Yeah, I mean, especially for basketball where it's not, you know, the industry, you know, that we live in. But for dunking on, I would just remind, I would just remind people. Sure. You respect the debt. Like, that's not the time. Right. And the sons were, I mean, they were six feet under man. Zombies. That's not a loss.
That was not a loss. That was a loss of life. They were gone. I, whenever you're Googling, what's the largest comeback ever at halftime to figure out if you should stay in your chair and then deciding probably should leave. Mike, you went to the game. I was there. You witnessed a murder. Yes, I was there. The question I have for you is very simple. When did you leave? I was there with the boy, so we soldiered through.
enjoyed oh no well it was actually like you paid for that i did we paid a lot of money to go to that game um air quotes for the word game of course right right uh but no like actually being there was i was able to you know work through some things so that by by the end of the game it was simply me laughing at the my team being
completely inept and then the other team making every three-pointer that they shot. You know how these are great opportunities, teaching moments for us as parents to, you know, not over-emphasize one thing. And, you know, I'm just tired of having so many teaching moments as Arizona sports. Yeah, I've learned enough. I mean, they have been taught every lesson about disappointment in the last two years. But Jason, you, you were doing well. I, the nice thing is I gave up early.
So I was screaming at the TV early, but halftime came and I knew it was over. I didn't have one glimmer of hope. It was all gone. For the 30-point comeback. Oh, yeah. I mean, I told, I think someone was saying, oh, I'm going to bet on the suns at the halftime just to cover this.
spread. It's only going to get worse. It is only going to get worse after I'm done. My Google was different than yours, Andy. My Google was what is the lowest points that it was ever scored in the playoffs. Yeah. And if I remember right, it was like the Utah Jazz had 54 or something in a finals game. That would be what we did in the first half. Yeah. But yeah, football. Okay. Football. It's way better. We want to remind you because it is two weeks away.
Two weeks away from the Ultimate Draft Kit being released. I wanted to highlight one of the mini upgrades for the Ultimate Draft Kit this year. A fully rebuilt from the ground up cheat sheet creator. It is so much more robust. It allows you to highlight...
a variety of things. Choose what you want to show, not show on the cheat sheet. A lot of people like myself, like bringing a physical cheat sheet to a draft, but now you can show what the sleepers breakouts, busts and values are, which will be in the UDK. You can hide the keepers. You can see what their rank was last year. There's a lot of different features now, including, you know, all the variables, age, those type of things. So that's just part of the reworked and upgraded ultimate draft kit. You can check that out.
right now at ultimate draft kit.com. Make sure you get in there before June 1st. I know, I know, I know how this works. We've been doing this for a long time. And I know that me saying that will mean very little because I know, I see the people scrambling at the end. Oh, May 31st is the day to get it. But if you get it now while I'm talking.
You will get it at the lowest possible price, and you won't write in and say, oh, man, I just missed it. Can you give me my $5 back? And then, of course, I have to tell Papa Josh, slam that door shut. Yeah, right in their face. You had six months. All right? That's a good amount of time. But no, Ultimate DriveKit.com, check that out. Quick question of the day. We have been, we've made our first pass each individually through every single player in the NFL for fantasy purposes, projecting their stat lines.
And this show has always been, that's how we build out our rankings. That's how we build out everything for your draft is we go meticulously through each and every team. And sometimes by doing that, we are surprised. Players that we thought before we did the process, we wouldn't like, we love. Or players that we thought we were going to love end up much lower on our rankings. And so today, now that we've all been through our initial 20, 22 rankings,
The question is, what's a player ranking that you discovered after statting these players out that completely surprised you? I had one that really made my jaw drop. D.K. Metcalf is a superstar, unbelievable, young, talented wide receiver who should be great and will.
be, you know, relevant for fantasy. When I finished statting the Seattle Seahawks with Drew Locking Company, D.K. Metcalfe was not in my top 24. And that was like, whoa. And I went back. I looked at it. I, you know, I made sure that the numbers are something I.
Believe in, but the reality is I don't think Drew Locke is a good quarterback. He has Noah Fant now and Tyler Locke and D.K. Metcalfe. If you are splitting that pie in three major ways and the pie is rotten, you don't want to eat it. And so it was just one of those really... You're saying Drew cooks a rotten pie. Drew left the pie out. I mean, it should have been refrigerated. He knows better, but he got distracted, very irresponsible.
It's going to be a run first team. That's another huge part of it. And I can't argue with it because he ended up in that place for me too. So, you know, it wasn't trying to bury him. It was trying to be realistic. So I'm, that's a shocker, but Mike, I don't know where you have Metcalf. I have him.
very low as well. All right. So what was one of the shocking discoveries from your first pass? It has to do with the inverse of Seattle. They made a move. They traded away a franchise quarterback. I mean, Russ will probably make it into the Hall of Fame as long as he keeps playing the way that he has played. And Russell Wilson historically has, like especially the last five years, has been incredible. He's been.
A quarterback won every year of his career except this last one because he tore a ligament in his hand and he came back too early. But along the way, while he's putting up huge fantasy numbers, he is also supporting two top fantasy options. And he's got talent on this team with Cortland Sutton, Judy, and Tim Patrick. Now, at this point, we're making the projection of who do I think becomes that the number 1A?
of the group. And I'm going with Cortland Sutton. And he's just, he's going to put up yards. Like Russell Wilson, by the end of the year, will be a 35 plus 100 yard guy and a 30 plus touchdown thrower. And one of these guys is going to have an absolute monster season. I don't think that the Broncos weapons are, combined with Russell Wilson skills, are going to be, well, it's just going to be so split up that people will just be okay. No, I think that we will have.
True superstardom from this wide receiver core. And I've got it being Cortland Sutton, who is in my top 10 wide receivers as of this moment with our rough draft from the stats. It's really not crazy. One of the things that we try to remember, or at least I try to remember after every season, we always have our things to remember. And it's too obvious. I don't always talk about it, but I always say it to myself is just how important the quarterback is to the wide receivers. Like it's such a duh statement. Yeah. But it.
It really is true. And so this switch of Russell Wilson affects these wide receivers tremendously. When you stat them out, you see how impactful it can be. And I do have Russ. I mean, I have Russ pretty high. I haven't met seven. I haven't met six. I was going to stay. Like, when Peyton Manning came over, like immediately, and I'm not saying Russ is Peyton Manning, but their stats really are not all that different when you look at what they've been averaging. As soon as Manning came over, the Broncos had hot wide receivers. And why is that?
They were already good, but they just didn't have the quarterback play, and Peyton Manning solved that problem. How dare you, Tim. Tebow. Well, and I think the difference that I had on that wide receiver crew is I did spread it out more. Okay. And I think the only thing that could go, I mean, this is the fifth year for Cortland Sutton. Sure. And so I think we've seen some kind of incredible play from him, and then we've seen some disappearing. We've dealt with injuries. And so it's more, I think.
it's saying, hey, I believe he will be the one to step up. I mean, there's a lot of talk. Jerry Judy, Tim Patrick, KJ Hamler, Giovante out of the backfield, Aguabanam. So it's saying, hey, the target, I saw your target totals for Sutton and they were much higher than I had for 150 you gave him. I gave him 26% of the target of the attempts. That's not much off of what I have. I haven't at 25%.
