Yeah, we're going to go to the mailbag today, ask a few keeper questions. I want to get you guys' takes on these. I think they're good questions. Fort Lauderdale as a keeper question.

Help me choose two keepers. In this situation, he has to exchange the draft pick. This is common for most keeper leagues, right? Yes. Where you have to exchange the draft pick where you drafted the guy. So his options are these. I think I already know your guys' answer, but DeMarco Murray. Well, maybe. DeMarco Murray for a one. We don't know his end situation yet. Julio Jones for a three or Jeremy Maclin for a five. Mike. Oh, it's Julio Jones.

That's a lock and load, Julio? At three? Oh, my goodness. That's a steel, huge steel. He's a late round. Jeremy Maclin is, uh, is, uh, he might, do you take Macklin for a five? No. Okay, so you're going. If I, if like, I have to keep two keepers. Yeah. I'm still, I'm going to take Murray. Okay. If I have complete control, I'm taking that Julio Jones for a three and then I will draft, um,

a running back with my first pick i'm going to get your take but i'm going to let everyone know that it's done go or to the colts oh three years 7.5 million i think so go ahead um i would i would definitely go 7 5 guaranteed that is sorry go ahead so so the same amount of money that was reportedly guaranteed from philly exactly yeah he used that as a template

before he. I would definitely take DeMarco and Julio. I'm assuming this question came in before the news on Jeremy Macklin broke. Yeah, you would have. And I would rather keep DeMarco for the first rather than draft the running back in the first because in a keeper league, you're probably not drafting guys that actually go in the first. So I would hold on to him. Yeah, I have to agree with you guys. Julio and DeMarco, I think wherever DeMarco lands, he's going to be smart about his chance to win.

Yeah, he's a, is he in your first round grade? Is he a late round? I haven't done the rankings. But he, it's very possible. Julio Jones is my top receiver. I'm going to play with Fire with Julio because he is who I think, I think he's top two. And he's super high for me, but his ADP is a little lower. So he's not going to be in my first round draft wise, but he is going to be, I want him early in the second round. Grab him on the turn. I love it. Yeah. Lava.

All right, this question comes in. Another keeper question. A 10-team league, this is Todd from Dallas. He said he cannot keep any player drafted in the first three rounds, and so he needs to pick between, I guess just one, between these guys. Drew Breeze, Ryan Matthews, Frank Gore, and Torrey Smith. Not the best. I think Hitman would say no Drew Breeze. You can draft the quarterback late. That is correct. Ryan Matthews, we don't know where you're going, so that's tough. Tori Smith's.

reportedly going to be signing with 49ers. And I like Frank Gore. I think you need running backs. I would go Frank Gore on this list. Yeah, right now it's Frank Gore. With a little caveat for Ryan Matthews. Right. I still like Ryan Matthews. I made a prediction off air, which I will now publicly proclaim. I think Ryan Matthews ends up in Philadelphia. I think they're going to get scorned by everyone and they will settle for the glass man. And if Ryan Matthews ends up,

in Philadelphia, uh, that's a really, that'd be a really, really hard call between those two, because I think they'll both have, uh, good years, but I'm, I might, I'd probably have to lean Frank Gore. Yeah, as of right now, I think that that's the right pick. I don't think it, I think it comes down to those two guys anyway, both, obviously this guy, uh, got them outside the top three rounds last year. So I agree with you guys. I think Gore is interesting in Indianapolis. I really do.

Never keep a quarterback. Never. No, and that's something I was going to bring up. Well, as we get closer to the draft, we're going to spend a lot of time talking philosophy of draft. What you'll notice in a lot of leagues with less, I guess, experienced fantasy players, is you see quarterbacks flying off the board. And you're going to be tempted because they're the big names that you know. If you're a new player...

Listen to our show. We're going to break down exactly what you need to know. That's something I get asked a lot. New players will ask me every year. Hey, what do I? You know, Mike, you do this for a couple people, too. They'll be like, oh, I'm going to play in a league for the first time this year. I draft like Aaron Rogers, right? I draft Peyton Manning, right? That's my first guy off the board. Because that's the assumption, right? The most relevant big name. Those are the guys that are the reason why it is Mike actually okay in a keeper league to keep a quarterback sometimes knowing your league because...

If the rest of your league values them, then their trade value might be far higher. I know, you know, you don't have great options and you want to hold on to a guy that you know someone is going to be foolish enough to trade you for a first. And you, you know, I would keep that in mind is the fact that you might grab him because of his value to other people and keep him there. But generally, I agree with what you're saying. Yeah, I suppose if you are in a draft pick trading league,

a possibility. I still prefer to go with not relying on a trade having to be made instead of taking the player that I value more. All right. One more question, guys, from the listeners. This is from Kurt in San Diego. He has, I guess, just a general question. Do you prefer 10 or 12 team leagues, keeper or redraft leagues? Jason? 12, not even close.

12 is so much better than 10 to me, more strategic. And as far as keeper or redraft, love them both. I say get in one keeper league. Are you into fantasy football? You like it. Get in one keeper league. That way you can have that team and then be in a couple different redrafts. I prefer 12 just because of the skill level of 10 teams here. The rosters tend to get pretty stacked with superstars with a 12. I mean, it doesn't seem like.

that many more players. We're only adding two teams, but you're taking an extra... 15, 30 players total maybe? Yeah, off of the waiver wire, off of the, out of the draft. I prefer a keeper. I like two keepers. That's just kind of my... Two total keepers for trading draft picks for them? Yeah. The trading of draft picks is...

hard because all I mean for a keeper league where you have to give up oh yeah yeah I prefer uh you have to you have to pay for your keepers which brings the strategy of of who do I keep because of their their cost and not just oh I have I have the best players so it's a I keep them

Yeah, another idea, too, is some leagues we're in limit the amount of times you can keep a player. Yeah. And so that's an idea. And the only other thing I'll say, I like 12-team leagues too, but I'd rather play in a 10-team league with active players than a 12-team league within active players. Yeah, that's true. So if you are...

Starting a league, make sure you get guys that are committed to it because there's nothing worse than playing in a league. And this is what happens a lot of times if you join a league through the major services, ESPN or CBS, and it's a random league. You'll have three or four guys that are really playing and competing with one another, and the rest are inactive. So find active friends to play with. And if you can't get to 12 teams, because that seems like the right number. It does. I think we both agree or we all agree on that. And James and Todd and Kurt.
