Fantasy Football Podcast 2017 - Early PPR Mock Draft

Between you two. Oh, okay. I thought you were playing with me. I'm playing matchmaker here. So wait, PPR, Dalvin Cook, Latavius Murray, give it to me. Water bet. When you said I'd take Latavius Murray, I was almost certain you were talking about getting somebody to help you, like, load a moving truck. I was almost positive. That's what you made. I, we, my thoughts. Because I would go Latavius if that was the case. My thoughts on Latvius. Or taking him to a country buffet or something. As a running back or well documented on this show.

I just think people are going to get out of control with a similar to Marco Murray Derek Henry situation. Oh, wow. Good thing I just traded Latavis Murray away in our Dynasty League. Here's what I'm staring down here, guys. We've got Larry Fitzgerald on the board. He's our consensus. I don't see any reason. Now, you have Jameson Crowder there. You want to go Doug? But you already have Jordan Reed. And to be honest with you, as much as I love Jameson Crowder, he's got a slot receiver cap on him.

He's not going to put up nine touchdowns. To me, the pick is far and away a stabilizing force of Larry Fitzgerald on this roster. I think we can find some more upside receivers later in this draft. But if you pair AJ Green and Larry Fitzgerald in a PPR and you've already snagged two PPR running backs, I think it changes the outlook of this team. It makes me very, very excited about it. I have him 15. Jason has him 14. Andy has him 11. In full point PPR. I mean, there's no reason.

There is no reason to think that Larry Fitzgerald has lost something. He literally, as you said, led the league in receptions last year. He's needed this year. This is his swan song year. And so I'm not, you know, he's not going to be a top five wide receiver because, you know, he doesn't have that deep ball anymore. But he's a ten of catch guy. He will produce for fantasy and getting that guy in, I mean, is there any chance in a PPR barring injury that he's not a wide receiver too?

No, I don't think so. Not in a PBRC. Right, and we're getting him in the fifth round. So, yes, sign me up. I was going to fight for that. Now, I want to tell you, I'm very excited here because this is our quick turn, right? We took Larry Fitzgerald to 508. Dante Moncrief, Somaget, P. Ryan, Andrew Luck, and Pierre Garcin followed that up. By the way, Pierre Garcin could be a very, very sneaky PPR pickup. It's one of the guys that I'm very excited about. He had a very good year last year.

Some of the metrics on him where you saw him averaging 10, 11 yards per catch, he went up to 14 last year. I still think he's going to be an 11 catch type of guy. But very much like Larry Fitzgerald can make a big impact, high volume guy on that team. And I really like his potential for 85 plus catches in San Francisco. Yeah, I do too. I'm just surprised to see him go this early. One of the things I love about Pierre Garsohn is he's in a bad situation. He's older, and I would expect people to just not want him.

foolishly, but here, I mean, this is, you know, this is about what I would consider him. He went ahead of James and Crowder. Which that's, I love Jameson Crowder this coming season. And I'm just going to, I'm backtracking a little bit here, but Larry Fitzgerald, if they can get him over 1,000 yards, he will be number three in all-time yardage for wide receivers. And you think they're not going to try and get him that record? I.

I actually do think they're not going to try to get him that record. But I think it will easily get that record. He's just, he's too good. He's too good. And you don't have competition there. There's not, they didn't draft. I mean, they spent third round on Chad Williams, but that's a developmental wide receiver. Their wide receiver cord is intact. I mean, it's Larry Fitzgerald. It's John Brown. It's J.J. Nelson. It's now Andre Ellington. Right. So here's what I'm excited about, guys. And I want to talk to you about this. We're in the middle of the sixth round.

and Tyler Eifert started the round, Emmanuel Sanders, Drew Brees, and Greg Olson. Now, we had two running backs, and there's no way I could consider Isaiah Crowell in the last round. But now you are staring Isaiah Crowell down at the fifth pick of the sixth round, a guy who not only was very good, but has an improved offensive line and caught 40 passes last year. Has not signed his tender yet. Yeah, but he's on that roster. Yeah, he's on the roster either way. He just, it's just a matter of if he doesn't sign that tender.

He could be shipping out next year. Is that correct? I don't know. I believe that is the situation. Yeah, Crowell will be the Brown starting running back. And I agree. I mean, the fact that he caught 40 passes last season, he showed that he's got that. And he did that a lot with Cody Kessler. And so to me, that is a great value. Who's the starting running back? Or who's the starting quarterback for the Browns? Kessler. Would it concern for all year?

Or you're just saying week one, it will be Kessler? I think. And not Kaiser? Yeah, I certainly. Kaiser's not getting in until, you know, week 10. You're discounting the injury risk there. Well, no, sure. In Cleveland, week two, baby. Yeah, Kessler has not. Here's the thing is they've got that offensive line to, you know, be able to protect him hopefully from some injuries. Crowell, by the way, he hasn't signed or reported yet.

So he's a potential holdout situation. But I don't think sitting here in May, you're necessarily. I'm not worried about that. When? What's that? Oh. When are we? Well, you're welcome, Mike. It's going to be May. Man. We almost made it through 10 days, Brooks. 10 days without. 11. 11 is the 11th. All right. Well, look, Isaiah Crowell, Spencer Ware on the board. Eddie Lacey. Jameson Crowder, Brandon Marshall, Calvin Benjamin. I certainly could go.

I'd almost say we should go another wide receiver here. Tyreek Hill, Eric Decker, Willie Sneed, 80 reception potential there in New Orleans. Corey Coleman, Randall Cobb. By the way, I projected Randall Cobb for a nice, stable. Bounce back? Yeah, I wouldn't go as far as bounce back. Like, bounce three quarters of the way back. That's fair. Like, I don't think he can get all the way back up to that echelon, but I really do like him.

What are you guys thinking here? What would you rather go? I lean the wide receiver direction, but I love Isaiah Crowell. I like Brandon Marshall. Oh, man. It stinks at this point to pass on a guy like Crowell. I mean, you've got Latavis Murray on the board for at least the next two rounds. We certainly do. But, man, I feel like Crowder. To me, the pick would be Crowder or Willie Sneed. Willie Sneed is going to get.

120 plus targets, but will he make it back if we pass on him right here? Are we going in or out? For what round are we at? We are on the way back out. Okay. Do either of those guys give you the upside that you'd want from that flex pick here? Jameson Crowder, I mean, Willie Sneed, as opposed to a guy like maybe Brandon Marshall, who could be a double-digit touchdowns, or I know you love him, I do not, Martavis Bryant. Oh, yeah.

I love Martavis Bryant's. Where does he rank? In PBR, he has to go down for you. I mean, he's probably a 50 catch guy. At the best case scenario. That's a fair point. And this is a, you know, it's one of those tips of if you're drafting online, make sure you are using the displayed rankings to your advantage.

And not using them as your rankings, but letting other people be coerced into drafting people they probably shouldn't be drafting. Where is Martavis Bryant in this top list? He's got to be. He's got to be about 15 players down. He's behind Thielen and Macklin and Brick. I wouldn't be reaching for him at this point. Other considerations here? I'm not, you know, Doug Martin. Doug Martin's on the board. I think you can wait on him. Three-game suspension. Theoretic?

Oh, yes. Absolutely. Theoretic would be in contention for me. I think I have an RB as an RB1 in PPR. Well, they'd be, they'd be blowing the horn at us at a live draft right now. So we've got to make a pick. Jason, I'm going to hand it over to you, and we're going to start flying through these rounds here. Right now, as you make your pick, I'll read back our roster. J. Ajai, Christian McCaffrey, AJ Green, Larry Fitzgerald, and Jordan Reed. Jason, let's make it happen, Captain. All right. My pick is going to be.

Jameson Crowder. He's my number 18 wide receiver in a PPR. I think he's used around the goal line. I realize we have Jordan Reed. And so, you know, that was the, to me, that's a tiebreaker situation where if there's someone else I like just as much, then I will go away from him. But I believe in him. I think it's a good point to make that when it's overwhelming for you, take the guy.

Take the guy. You have an opportunity here. How many targets just left in Pierre Gar's son and Sean Jackson? Yeah. And on 2,000 yard receivers. And there's offenses that can sustain multiple pieces for fantasy production. Kirk Cousins nearly had 5,000 yards last year. I don't know if he'll get up there again, but 4,500 should be no problem. Yeah. And if you, you know, the two pieces that are sticking around there that already have that rapport.

Those are the two we grabbed. I like those. All right. Now we've got to wait until the back half of the seventh round. And the question is this, Mike. And if you're following this on YouTube, you're seeing the players that are going off the board. Russell Wilson, Matt Ryan, James Winston, Big Ben, Cam Newton. They're all flying off, Mike. Oh, my goodness, panic and draft a quarterback. Nope, not at all. I'm looking at the quarterback list here. And Andy Dalton's sitting there at number 18. I'm perfectly fine taking him with my...

I'm spending the season at his house. I'm just moving in. That's how much I like Andy Dalton this year. I'm going to fluff his pillows. That's how much I love Andy Dalton. Dak, Carr, Cousins, Mariotto, Rivers, Stafford. Oh, Rivers to me is... And look, you have your parachute. This is my... You have a parachute quarterback? I have a parachute quarterback. We all do. And Blake Bortles, who will be...

It will be free. Look, and I know he sounds like the parachute. What do we call him the other day? He's the secondary parachute. Like you're following, but when the first one doesn't come, and you're still trying to get that one to work, but now the little alarm has gone off like, dude, you've got to pull. You're going to die. You're going to pull your Blake Bortals. Portals, Borders! Portals!

Bortles is like the parachute that your friend packed and you pull the chute and then silverware and plates just come flying out and you go, oh, crap. But then you remember, oh, yeah, Blake Bortles. He can be a quarterback one easily. Does he get a new, he gets a new metaphor or nickname on every single show? All right, well, you're right. I'm not considering quarterback whatsoever, but right now we're sitting on the board here. We filled out most of our starting roster outside of quarterback, so we're looking at depth. Amir Abdullah jumps off.

And Theoretic jumps off right now. I think Theoretic would be my pick right here. You know, a guy who, yes, he was injured last year, but he's coming off of two years ago an 80-plus reception season. Riddick was still very good last year. He was very good. And you also have a team that still, look, you brought in a rookie-wide receiver. You've got Golden Tate. You want Golden Tate to do what Golden Tate does, but you need more targets in that system. Love Theoretic.

On the other side, you got Tyree Kill. I think a lot of people surprised Tyree Kill would be here in the seventh round. Brandon Marshall's still there. Willie Sneed, who you liked. I think I need to hedge against Christian McCaffrey here a little bit. And that's going to force me to take a running back in the situation because if things don't go as I hope and plan for Christian McCaffrey, having some insurance at the running back position would make me more comfortable. And so I'm going to take...

Theoretic, and we'll toss this next pick to you, Mike. We're coming around real quick here. Amir Abdullah, his counterpart goes off the board at the top of the eighth. You saw Kyle Rudolph go off the board as well, and Brandon Marshall finally leaves in the middle of the eighth round. I think that's a potential great value for somebody. But here we are with Theoretic, first play on our bench, Derek Henry off the board at 804, and Mike, lay the land out for us. So at wide receiver, which is where I'm going to be looking here, Tyreek Hill, Eric Decker, Willie Sneed.

D. Jacks is there, and I think we're to the point of Deshaun Jackson becoming a value. He's not a PPR guy. We all know that, but he still is a thousand yard seven plus touchdown type of player. Jordan Matthews is, I know that you're not a huge fan. He's somewhat interesting to me. He is interesting to me returning back. That's just how I feel when I hear his name. And I get it. I feel like Jordan Matthews is going to be that type of guy for,

nearly everybody just you don't feel good about it uh but we've seen two years two of his three years he's been highly productive and i know those were a different offense but he gets to return to where he is he's a natural fit for offense having said that he's not in my consideration for this pick i'm just laying him out for you know that situation where like you know if you put a couple ugly guys next to you you can look you can look really good

Like, I feel like it's Jordan Matthews with Green Beckham and Aguilar next to him. All of a sudden, you look at Jordan Matthews and you're going, well, I like what I see. Oh, but Jordan Matthews was brought down by those guys. I know, I know. He's a cameoia. Make the pick, sir. It's Willie Sneed. So you're taking Willie Sneed over Tyreek Hill? He's got a fear? I just...
