Uh, the fantasy footballers are back. I, I have to be honest with you gentlemen. It feels strange when we don't have five shows a week. Yeah, it feels like we've not done this in a long time. Feels like I might live longer. Uh, the year of health has begun. We're all trying to get in shape. Trying to get the new studio in shape. Oh. So lots going on. Of being a fool. Eh, yeah. I mean, we all get rid of our demons in different ways. So what do we got on the show today? It's the truth. The truth. All these episodes were great last year. I hope we can live up to it. We're looking back on the year that was 2016. This is, we're starting with the wide receivers, part one of the wide receivers of, you know, like, hey, Devante Adams finished as the number eight wide receiver and half point PPR.

But does he deserve to be the number eight wide receiver? What happens, and one of the reasons we encourage you to stay with us all offseason, is a lot of the times the first step for somebody coming back to fantasy football in the new year is to go and look at the statistics for last year and see the rankings and see how people finished, running backs, wide receivers, quarterbacks, and then evaluate that as their, you know, how they build out the draft board. And...

It's a piece of the puzzle, but what you don't realize is sometimes the final ranking is not representative of consistency from a position, from a player, and that's what we're breaking down here. There are a lot of different ways you can look at consistency. The way that we're looking at it is based on Tristan Cockcroft at ESPN. He has a really good consistency article that comes out, and it basically just highlights how often are these players finishing within the top five, the top 25 at their position, and how many times are they giving you...

performances on a week-to-week basis that are worse than the waiver wire. Right. So a player can finish very high in the rankings, but their consistency can be all over the map, and that can really affect the way you perform in the playoffs. Yeah, you're not going to win with those players. They end the season, and you go, oh, I had a top 12 wide receiver, and it's like, but I finish out of the playoffs because he cost me six games when he didn't show up. You know how to value these guys properly because you know that, well, if this is, there's some risk when I, if I spend a,

a high pick on this guy because yeah they can have huge games but i also know that they can fail me yep absolutely so that's the day today we have news and notes and then we have the truth the first uh i think we'll get through about 1012 wide receivers today and then we'll break down some more on thursday i'm going to start us off though with a quick question guys because this this is going to feed right into what we're talking about oh so it's a who am i and you guys have to guess this i i finished as the wide receiver 17

Okay, I will not look at the list. Wide receiver 17 and half point per reception. Okay. Okay. Clue number two. I am third in targets, but 12th in receiving yards. Ooh. Okay. Okay. Third in targets. 12th in receiving yards. Third in targets. Okay. Standard scoring, I'm the wide receiver 22 and full point per reception. I'm wide receiver 15. Okay. All right.

You guys have, you got a guess? I have a guess. I don't think he's that high on yards. I feel like my guy would be higher. Well, I'll give you one more clue. He's 30 years old. Ooh, okay. That rules. That broke it. That ruined all the years. I was thinking it was Pro Bowl, Larry. Yeah, that's where I was leaning to. See, Brooks puts these together, and I actually got this one. I guessed it before. Okay. Hold on. Hold on. We have one more clue. I finished. Okay, you got all the other clues. The last one is he's in the playoffs right now. Ooh.

Still in the playoffs. Dang it. Does that eliminate another guess? So finished as wide receiver, 17 and a half point, third in targets, but 12th and receiving yards, 30 years old, still in the playoffs. Third. Edelman? It's Julian O'Don. Yeah. Julian Edelman finally got there. I'm proud of you, Jason. Thank you. Deserving of that Foot Clan title. So yeah, Julian Edelman, what do you think of Julian Edelman's season based on that? Well, to be fair. How would you evaluate it, Mike? Because you owned them all year. Yeah, it was.

It was weird, man. It was a really weird season for Julian Edelman. You have, of course, those first four games, Sands Tommy touchdown throwing him the ball. I mean, you had, Garoppolo was actually pretty solid, but then you had the beef brisket, Jacoby coming in there and replacements of, and you could see it. You could see Julian Edelman. It's going to be great as soon as Tom Brady gets back in those first four games. He.

There was concerns about Edelman in the offseason, his foot, some surgeries missing time last year. But everything looked good to go. And then Tom Brady came in and it was trash. Julian Edelman was bad for fantasy football for a stretch. And then he started to heat up and Gronk went out and then he was sensational after that. So it's hard to get a really complete picture or what is Julian Edelman moving forward.

You have to assume that he's bad, that he will continue to be that PPR stud. But have you adjusted maybe next year what his ceiling will be? Yeah, it's possible. I mean, you had, because two years ago, right, he had, I believe it was seven touchdowns. Does that sound right? In the first, yeah, in the, in the beginning part of the year before the injury. Before he went down with the foot. I mean, he was just crushing. And then this past year.

It was, I believe, before week 17, he had two touchdowns. Oh, and you have Malcolm Mitchell ascending now? That's not, that wasn't there before. So Edelman is great. He's just not a one. Okay. I think Edelman is a great mid to low, too. And you just, I assume that he is, or I guess not this year, but generally speaking, he's great for when you talk about consistency. You know what you're going to get. Well, he went out and had a monster week 17 just to confuse us for next year. Michael Floyd had.

I just want to update the Foot Clan on, we have a footballer's bracket, a playoff bracket. We filled everything out before the kickoff of game one. And the losers will have their lunches selected for an entire week. The standings as follows. I am in first place as I got all four games correctly picked.

Jason and Andy are tied. They both have three points each because Andy did a last minute pivot to Connor Cook's Raiders. I, you know, I'll tell you exactly what happened. You went for the glory. I was so, yeah, basically Mike and I have very similar brackets. So I said to myself right before the game, I'm watching the warmups. I'm just meditating on how bad Brock Osweiler is. And I'm watching Khalil Mack warm up. And literally.

I just said, I'm going to change. I'm just going to go. Brock Oswald is going to throw some ugly screen pass. Max is going to take it back, and that's all it's going to take. And I was so wrong. And so much regret. You had it. You had it nailed. But instead of focusing on how good clowny is and how bad Connor Cook is, you just had an inverse. The screen pass, you called that. Just wrong team. So.

Yeah, that matters. That matters for the bracket. And then Jason lost his Giants. His Super Bowl champion is. That's a far bigger loss. Yeah, that is because I had the Giants rolling through the playoffs. This was the game that scared me was the Packers. Man, it was crazy, though, because the first half, like 90% of the first half, I think it was. Their defense was dominant. I think it was halfway into the second quarter where Green Bay had seven total yards. Yeah.

Seven total yards of offense. And that Hail Mary just put them in full tilt mode. And then they got blown out. Jason, do you think that your pick of the Giants had anything to do with the fact you spent last weekend on a yacht down in Florida? It's not even a yacht. A sailboat. A little speed boat. Jason was on a yacht. You know that. Did that have any. Did that affect your judgment the way you performed? Did you drop the ball because of it?

Absolutely not. That would be ridiculous. Okay. All right. Here we go. News and notes from around the league. Poor Jordy Nelson suffered two fractured ribs in the wildcard win over the Giants. That was brutal. I had him in the playoff challenge and I switched him out this morning because I can't imagine even if he played that I'd want to be playing him over Des Bryant. So that, you know, Randall Cobb stepped up. Geronimo Allison's going to have to step up. Time Montgomery had to be.

carried off the field with an ankle injury. He returned to later on. It was so bizarre. They were blowing them out. Kristen Michael had provided them a spark coming into the second half, getting the run game going. The injury looked nasty when it happened on the, it's just like, why bring him back? What do you have to gain? Yeah, even if you don't, even if you don't want to give it to Michael, just give it to Ripkowski. Yep. Spencer Ware and Justin Houston will play on Sunday. That's a big deal.

Yeah, that's huge for the Chiefs. CJ Procise is now practicing, so he could be back involved. Yeah, I think he's probably still good. Thomas Rawls looked great. He did. 160 plus yards. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Oh, I had so many of those on Twitter. Osweiler's going to start again because, I mean, he's just great. He's just a great quarterback. But doesn't matter. Doesn't matter. No, it doesn't matter. Look, the line in Vegas on that game opened 16. I said it should have been 32.
