three wide receiver. I view a player that I know all three of us like as such an incredibly powerful commodity. You just know you're getting a bunch of targets, bunch of receptions, and quality season throughout. If the touchdowns come, you're going to have a guaranteed wide receiver. One, if not, you have a really good asset. That's Robert Woods in a full PPR. I really like him. I know you guys like him. So a couple minutes ago, I was worried he won't get to me. But.

He did. So he is going to be my pick, and we'll see what happens on the turn. So Jason has Miles Sanders, Kenyon Drake, and Robert Woods. He only has to wait two picks for his next selection. Leonard Fournett and Zach Ertz went next. I don't think that did any damage to Jason's board with Leonard Fornett and Zach Ertz there. So you get your pick of the litter again. Some running backs available if you wanted to go that direction. Melvin Gordon, Lev Bell, James Connor, David Johnson.

Montgomery, you have Cooper Cups still on the board, but you're staring down what I stared down to mock drafts ago. How many running backs do you have, Jay? I've got two. Okay. Miles Sanders, Kenyon Drake. So when I'm looking here, I am fine going running back or wide receiver in a three wide receiver PPR. If there's a real PPR machine that I believe in at running back, then I would take him here. To me, I don't know that that's the case. Lev Bell could be that to some people. You know, I just, I have a hard time believing in.

the Jets offense right now and in what we saw with Lev Bell last year. Melvin Gordon could be that for some people. I just don't believe that one of these guys is an absolutely great guaranteed pass catching guy. I'm going to go upside here. I went safe with Robert Woods, and I think this will surprise some, but in my rankings full PPR, my highest wide receiver on the board is a guy I love, Mike, I know you love him. I don't know if Andy is in, but I'm taking DJ Chark here.

in a three-wide receiver full PPR league. I believe that the Jaguar's defense is going to be terrible and that they're going to throw the ball to DJ Chark early and often and long and short and he's going to be on my fantasy team. I dislike that. Thank you. I mean, I guess it's for the best since DJ Chark ends up on all my mock draft teams. So now I have to do something else. All right. So after DJ Chark, Cooper Cup.

Went next. So I'm not having to stare that decision down anymore. I have a long wait after this pick till I get to my fifth round selection. So that's putting me in the position where I'm looking at running back here. Melvin Gordon, Lev Bell, James Connor, David Johnson, Mark Ingram, David Montgomery, those names. I mean, Calvin Ridley and A.J. Brown are still on the board. And that means I get one of them. If I think about...

wide receiver here, then, you know, it's probably A.J. Brown. Full PPR. Godwin and Cooper already on my roster. It's just a matter of do I have a differentiator at the running back position? And I think I'm going to take Levy on Bell. Would you have taken Chris Carson? Yes. Excellent. Excellent news, everyone. I made the right decision. And that's an example for the listeners out there of manufacturing ways to love your pick.

Well, not just, but knowing your league. Knowing, you know. Oh, you're saying it from the perspective of like, who wouldn't have made it back to you? Yes. You were making the gamble. Not just that you stole him from me. No, no, no, no. No, no. It's the fact that I would have been the most upset if Chris Carson had not come back to me. And if, like, if I had played that game and then one pick away and then I'm taking Levy on Bell instead of Carson, that would have, that's one of those things where it's.

Look, it's the momentum of the draft, man. It's an emotional place. You got to keep the spirits high. Absolutely. And it's, you know, it's one pick here or one pick there. It's interesting that Fournette and Bell, the two players that have the best statistical argument for positive aggression, right? Leonard Fornett. In the touchdown category, yes. Both Lev Bell, Leonard Fornett, I think they combine for, you know, what, five touchdowns on the ground or something. Both players have a great opportunity. Leonard Fornett, yeah, maybe he doesn't catch 76 passes. Does he catch 50?

Probably. I mean, unless you really believe Chris Thompson is going to come steal them all and no one else is there. And then Lev Bell. He's a pass catching running back. I like the upside there for Lev Bell. The point per reception is very important. Yes. Because the yards, not so much there. But the reception is least the point. That's right. In the offensive line, some optimism there. Also, it's been a while since we have.

said this, and a lot of people play in PPR leagues, that's the new standard. Our normal, you know, is half PPR. But if you're in a full PPR league and you're watching the game, it's very important whenever your guy catches the ball. Yes. Mike, you want to give it? Point. That's right. Every time someone catches the ball. It's more important when you're watching with someone else. Well, right, yes. But it's still enjoyable. If you're by yourself. Point. Just yelling point every time that your team gets one.

It needs to be loud enough to where your wife looks over. Absolutely. She's, you know, doing whatever. Your kids look, you have to look up from what they're doing. And then they'll learn how to say it with you. Back to the draft. All right. Back to the draft. All right. I've got Josh Jacobs, Lev Bell, Chris Godwin, Amari Cooper. Mike has Devante Adams, Austin, Echler, and Chris Carson so far. And I believe he's going to select either Calvin Ridley or AJ Brown. That is definitely where I am looking. And it is tough of...

You know, the factoring in the PPR, Calvin Ridley, I would presume, will have more receptions than A.J. Brown. Does he have? Is that reception total enough to overcome the difference in what A.J. Brown could bring for my team? You know, because he's what, like a 60, 70 reception guy at the most for A.J. Brown. Meanwhile, Calvin Ridley could be up in the 90s. It is possible. I mean, he has to hit a ceiling, of course. So it is.

Man, that's very tough. If both players hit their ceiling, if both players do the max of their potential, A.J. Brown's ceiling is higher. I don't think so. You don't think. In a PPR. I feel like A.J. Brown could be the wide receiver one. Yeah. Wow. I mean, then if you think that, then that makes sense with what you said. I don't. You don't see that world? Well, I mean, Calvin Ridley's shown the, I mean, he's a double-digit touchdown type of player. Didn't he have 10 as rookie year? Yeah, he had 10 his rookie year and then like.

I don't remember. Eight, I think. Yeah. So, I mean, you talk about a ceiling. It's 10 to 12 touchdowns. I don't think that A.J. Brown is surpassing that touchdown total. Then it comes down to receptions. I think they're similar. I think they're pretty similar players from a ceiling standpoint. And it's tough of trusting in the quarterback. I trust Matt Ryan. Like, I know what he will be. Ryan Tannenhill was incredible. But was that just he got the magic. He was covered in the pixie dust. And now he's going to.

kind of regressed to the player, more like a player that he's been for his career. Oh, man, this is a really tough one. I'm going to take Calvin Ridley as my wide receiver too. So Adams, Calvin Ridley, I think that's a pretty solid start. Well, I think this draft's interesting because Mike, every time it comes around to you at the front of the round, you have to make decisions. You know Jason and I are going to pick four players before you pick again. Yeah. So this is that situation. Jason's saying of like, we say, no, your league.

This show has always been about going beyond stats, analytics, and projections. Those are foundational, but you have to understand who you're playing against. You have to understand your league context. You have to understand all those pieces. So after Ridley, Diggs, A.J. Brown. So Diggs went ahead of A.J. Brown in this draft. I think that Diggs has an interesting PPR stealing, to be honest. He's going to be the focal point of that passing offense.

David Johnson went next, Dak and Deshawn Watson, James Connor, Mark Andrews, who I was going to bring up around your pick, Mike. I knew you weren't going to consider him there, but Andrews is the next tight-in kind of on the board, maybe more PPR-friendly tight-ins like Darren Waller, Evan Ingram later on. Corlin Sutton, D.K. Metcalfe, Melvin Gordon, Canaan.

Tyler Lockett, Terry McClorn, and T.Y. Hill. That was a triple whammy right in front of me. Yeah, Jason is kind of grimacing. Well, I was grimacing because I had a dream. You know, and when you're near a turn, that's usually what happens. When you're near a turn, it's so many players. I dreamed a dream. It's so many players until it comes back. Your dreams are crushed every single time. The guy that you hope. There is no chance. Yet I wonder. But I really did hope.

that Tyler Lockett could drop to me. I think he's being criminally undervalued right now. I agree. And here, to get Tyler Lockett in this format in the fifth round, I think is a great pick by Team 5. All right. McLaurin, Hilton, Mike back on the board. Now, you're in a full PPR, three wide receiver starts instead of two. You have Adams, Eckler, Carson, Ridley. So you're split.

Two wide receivers. I'm very balanced currently. The roster's a little bit bigger. I know that in the fifth round, you kind of, you've gone Kyler a couple times. I have. And yet this roster's bigger. You've got to flex. You've got to get out there too. How are you making this decision? This is a tough one. So I'm looking at my rankings. And you know that. Step one. Step one. And we talk about it. You don't win at the draft. But when you leave the draft saying, and you can.

look in the mirror and say, I made it out with two of my top 10 wide receivers or three of my top 20 wide receivers in a three wide receiver league. And knowing my league, they are at a mesh point where everything is harmonized. Jupiter is aligned with Mars. I'm going to take AJ Green. Well, you probably made the right call there.

I was going to think about it long and hard. I have, I have AJ Green right in between Calvin Ridley and AJ Brown as my wide receiver 17. I know this. I'm with Jason that there is, there is downside here. I could be setting a pick on fire, but the franchise tag, they're giving him so much money, had a full season off to heal up if AJ Green returns. That's a big if.

But if that happens, as my third wide receiver, that will be an unbelievable advantage for my team. It's risky business. Risky business. Let me ask you one question. Should he have gone T. Higgins?

Or odd and tape. Do you want the future or do you want the past? No, I mean, of course, A.J. Green is going to, you know, be the main guy for the team. You brought up Andy on the last episode, which was fire or two episodes ago. You know, he's being paid $17.5 million. So he is part of their plans. And that's fine. If you want to know how much pain, we almost brought Jason yesterday. We're in an industry draft right now. I just wanted to bring this up. Sure. You.

You know, we were, we had taken a couple of running backs and we're staring down. And my, my suggestion was to pick, I think both of ours. It was. Was to pick T.Y. Hilton and A.J. Green together. And all your bones broke. I mean, if you want the old busted great wide receivers of yesteryear, then those were phenomenal picks. Yeah. But I was outvoted. I was outvoted. But then eventually we did not do that. We did actually go, Kyler. But you just brought up with Mike on the clock.

Mike has taken Kyler here before, which is a little bit early for our usual taste. But in leagues, if you're in a league where it is full PPR, three wide receiver, that devalues the quarterback position even more. It makes the gap between wide receivers matter more and the depth you need. So I'm certainly not going mid-round quarterback in a three-wide receiver, full PPR league.

Yeah, and so I'm on the clock. I am in the same situation that Mike was in. I have two running backs, Josh Jacobs, Love Bell, two wide receivers, Chris Godwin and Amari Cooper. And I have to make a decision here as well. I am not considering quarterback for the exact reasons that you just mentioned. I'm looking at running backs. And there are players I like and one that I know won't get back to me. I still have to start a flex position in this league in a PPR. And running back depth is hard to come by. So I am leaning that direction.

going Devante Parker or Tyler Boyd going, you know, into that category of wide receiver. I have some guys I like a little bit later. So I'm actually going to take a player that I think is being undervalued and is David Montgomery. I'm going to take him right here right now in the fifth round. I think it's a solid pick right there. And in spite of the format, I have three running backs. And I feel good. And Kyler Murray went next. Yeah. So I'm on the clock and I'm close to the turn.

So I, you know, I'm going to take a look at the team and what, you know, the team that is picking between my two picks, see what they have so that I can know right now they've got two wide receivers, one running back, one tight end. So I would presume they might lean towards a running back here. So if I want one, I should take it here as opposed to in three more picks so that I could get the pick of my litter. And.
