Week 2 in the books. Week 2 is done. We are the fantasy footballers, and this is the fantasy footballers podcast. My name is Mike Wright with me, my good buddy. Andy Holloway, right here. We are correspondence for Fantasypros.com. Andy is a correspondent for the Baltimore Ravens. I mostly cover the Saints, but I am also the NFC South Divisional Leader.

So I make sure that everything's going smooth with the write-ups for that division. Yeah, big week. Big week. The blood bath that was week two. Major injury. How did you come up unscathed? How were your teams with the injuries?

I was mostly unscathed, but I'm still suffering from last week when that rock of a player, Ben Tate, got hurt on the third play of the game. But watching the players in our league, some of the big names that are not helping players people right now. Yeah, it was, I don't, at least in recent memory, but I mean, when you're playing fantasy football, your memory seems to be erased every single week, just the nature of the game.

Thinking back, I can't really remember when so many key early round draft picks went down in a heap or at least suffered some kind of multi-week injury. Yeah, I mean, the big name is Jamal Charles. Jamal Charles is hurting, and we don't know how long. High ankle sprain is the report. No Sean Moreno right after a great week. Oh, man.

Dislocated? I heard two months. Yeah. A.J. Green, who knows? Yeah. And these were, you know what the worst part was? These were players who started. Oh, yeah. They started. And they weren't late game injuries. This was like AJ Green, his toe. He goes out early. Jamal Charles, ankle sprained on the third or second or third run. And you had Robert Griffin the third.

Well, if you started him, you deserved that. Yes, probably. But still, still, we'll not get a chance to get acclimated to that Jay Gruden system because he will be on the bench. Well, Kirk Cousins, a potential waiver wire pickup there. Yeah, which we will get to. And, well, I'll save the Kirk Cousin for when we get to the waivers. Was there anything that you wanted to, what had stood out in week one, anything you wanted to? Well, I think it would be.

remiss to not mention the obvious number one running back that we all saw before the season began. He was in my top five. Darren Sproles, the forgotten man, how many teams have to get rid of this guy? What did they get to? It was like a fourth round pick? What a, oh yeah, to get him, to acquire him for, yeah, I mean, it was nothing. It's the same thing, San Diego got rid of him, and then New Orleans, it was like, you don't prioritize this guy enough, and look, New Orleans is on too. Yeah.

You know, and that's not all Darren Sproles, but his value to these teams, I mean, without Darren Sproes, the Eagles don't come close to winning the game last night. No. Sproles was a beast. Yeah, so didn't see those kind of fantasy numbers coming. No. But, yeah, and obviously, you don't want to show some caution. He probably won't say the number one running back all year, but impressive through two weeks. Would you be looking to sell high on Sproles, or would you be keeping him? I think I'd be selling.

But that's my nature in these types of things. You're a seller? I'm a seller. I like to sell high, win the opportunity is there. I do think he will be fantasy relevant. I'm not going to say he's going to drop off the map, but I think he'll return to the mean. I think LaShawn McCoy will probably, you know, ascend a little bit. What's crazy is they both produced. Right. McCoy had a good game. Sprouls happened to outproducing, but. Right. They both catch passes?

They both are high-octane offense. Yeah, more plays. So who knows? That guy could be an RB2. That's going to be a team where outside of Shady, I think you're going to see burst weeks from Macklin, from Erds, from Cooper, from Sproles. And they can't all go off week-to-week. But, yeah, they could not stop Darren Sproles yesterday. And incredible performance. I think the surprise of the week, I don't know if it's the surprise of his play.

But the opportunity, I should say, for DeMarco Murray. He looks really good. They're just feeding it. I mean, we've all been saying this forever. It's both. It's opportunity and he's. Feed Murray. But, yeah. He's playing so well. And just getting tons and tons of carries. 29? Not just touches, but carries. Yeah. In the old regime, I don't think that would have ever happened. He passes, you know.

I watch all these games. You watch all these games. You see certain guys that are hyped. They don't pass the eye test sometimes. They come out. An example of that would be Monte Ball, right? Like, Monte Ball is actually, he's going to be fantasy relevant on a year because of the offense. Right. He looks pretty pedestrian as a talent to me. Break some tackles, but he doesn't look. I can agree with that. But a couple guys that have looked amazing this year past the eye test is Levi-on-Bell.

Oh, big time. And DeMarco Murray. They both, to me, look amazing. Yeah, Levyon Bell with his... And I like watching him a lot because his style of running is different. Maybe it's just the way I interpret it, but he seems to move almost... He's fast slow. Yeah. Which, what I mean by that is he is very patient when he gets into that scrum, and then he'll hit the jump cut and...

and spring out for six yards. So those doubting Levi-on-Bell or DeMarco-Murie, are those in leagues where guys, they're probably not selling DeMarco-Murie right now. No. But I think he's as advertised. I think DeMarco-Murie's are pretty locked in, top three, top five, aside from injury. Levy-on-Bell looks really good. Guys that, you know, the Lynch and Lacey owners this week were hurting. Yes. They were hurting. Lacey's...

Man, I don't even know what to think about Lacey anymore. You know, they got down 21-3 to start that game and was in the shotgun for the whole game. But he's only had 12 and 13 carries. And then you look back at last year when he was really producing, it was not Rodgers. I mean, Rogers came back at the end, and Lacey still put up good numbers.

He's a by-low candidate, I think. I would absolutely buy low. I haven't given up on him, but I... You worry about what it's going to look like with Rogers, yeah. I mean, because he faced Seattle, he faced the Jets, and now he's going to face Detroit, probably the top three-run defenses in the league. So if you want to buy low on Lacey, I'd do it. One other guys wanted to touch on real quick, who was just, was a big surprise for me, is the senior Steve Smith. Not to me.

I guess, yeah, the Baltimore years, you did. I told you. I told you he was the camp MVP, and man, that dude can play. There was lots and lots of talk of the X receiver and Kubex system gets targets. And we are also, a lot of people were talking Tori Smith up, but is Steve Smith the X?

I think what I liked out of Steve Smith beyond just his play is Flacco looked to him. One of those drives, he looked four consecutive times for him in the Red Zone, four straight when he was already tearing it up. I don't know what the fantasy relevance of a Raven receiver is all year long. That's tough with the inconsistency from Joe Flacco, but you're right. He was impressive in week number two. So let's move on and let's help out our brethren who are...

hurting from those injuries. Let's talk a little bit of a waiver news. We'll start with the quarterbacks. I have three guys who I would look to add if I was hurting or even if, let's say I'm a Roma owner. I'm very disappointed at what's going on. Brady owner maybe? Maybe even a Brady owner. A guy who I'm not going to cut Roma or Brady. Absolutely not. Do not do that. But maybe if I have an extra receiver who I don't really care.

I just was stashing and hoping. Maybe I'll add a QB just in case, but we have Kirk Cousins, the aforementioned Kirk Cousins, and we have to cool it, I think, on him. He was playing the Jaguars. Jaguars, and, I mean, he did look great, but I feel like there's a lot of times when a team schemes for a quarterback and then the backup comes in.

The backup looks great. And dominates during the time they come in. Imagine you're playing Robert Griffin, and then all of a sudden you're playing Kurt Cousins. What you have prepared for is out the window. You got a pocket passer back there slinging it around. And last year when he came in for Griffin's injury benching or whatever that was, Cousins had one great game and then two garbogged games.

Well, the nice thing for him is coming up on the schedule, he's got Philadelphia, then the Giants, then Tennessee, and then Dallas. So some possibly juicy matchups, if you are hurting at the quarterback position and you want to wait and see on a guy like Romo, see what that offense looks like, depending on the matchups. Again, please do not drop Romo. No. If somebody has dropped Romo, you need to pick one. Please sign Romo. My number two guy is Tanahill.

I think he has shown some stuff. He, and he has, I don't have in front of me, but he has a favorable matchup, at least the next two games, I believe. Yeah, he's got Kansas City, and then he's got Oakland. Yeah, exactly. And then he's got Green Bay after that. Green Bay's defenses look terrible. That's three great games for, if you need a guy. Maybe you're the Palmer owner. Who knows what's going on the Palmer's shoulder. Or maybe you're the quarterback. Peyton Manning, he's on a week four by. You need a guy? There's a good chance. Or maybe you are scared.

of Richard Sherman. I don't think you're benching Peyton next week. Not after what Rivers did to them. That is the courageous call of the week. I don't think you should do that. If you bench Peyton and you play Ryan Tanahill, you need to let us know immediately. I was going to say, yeah, write us. We will tell your story to the world. Yes, we will publicly sing the praises of your courage. So any other quarterbacks? Gino. Gino Smith.

Okay. I think, remember at the beginning of the year when he said his goal was by next year he's going to be a top five quarterback, and we all thought that was the stupidest thing we'd ever heard, he looks okay. What makes him valuable? Where's his potential? Where's his ceiling? Because he's still a mistake-prone guy. That first half was so different than the second half. Yeah, and I agree. And if Decker misses some time, that definitely hurts him. Right.

I don't know, he just, he looks. He did have that touchdown stolen from him. Yeah. He looks, he looks like some things are starting to come alive. So Gino's a consideration. I don't think there's anybody outside those three. Those are the only guys that I'm looking at there. You know, Bortles is going to get a start. He's not a relative fantasy play. And Bridgewater, too, with that castle abomination of a game. So let's move on to running backs. What are the obvious?
