This episode is brought to you by State Farm. Every football fan is different. Some won't wash their lucky mustard-stained jersey until the season's over. Some insist they can't sit down on third downs and some pick their favorite team because, I don't know, just like football fandom, nobody's life is exactly the same. And that's why State Farm gets to know you, not as a policy number, but as an actual person.

Look, everybody knows in April 2017, news broke that football star Aaron Hernandez had killed himself in his jail cell. But what exactly happened to Aaron Hernandez to turn him into a killer? Did his football career play a part in it?
From the Boston Globe Spotlight Team and Wondery comes an in-depth investigation of the life, legal troubles, and death of Aaron Hernandez. Go and subscribe to Gladiator, Aaron Hernandez, and Football Inc. on Apple Podcasts today. To the Fantasy Footballers podcast. Coming to you from Draft.com Studios with your host, Andy Holloway, Jason Moore, and Mike Wright. Oh, I need a new team.
Mike doesn't. What are you guys talking about, man? Everything's coming up roses over here. Not Rosens. No, no, no, no, no, Rosens. Cousins. I don't even know where to begin. Welcome into the Fantasy Footballers podcast. Mike is wearing a Minnesota Vikings jersey. I don't blame him. Last night I tweeted, I said, what are the rules about abandoning the team you love your entire life? Because 34 years I've been alive.
this way because I tweeted out the picture I was at the game it was my boy's first game and there were I mean hundreds of condolence tweets coming in for that like my son I've ruined football for my son and just I want all the listeners to know my boy is a Broncos fan so that was a great opening night and one of the hardest things of the night is expressing to my son over and over
He said, why are we not getting up on the screen? I said, boy, I've never been on the Jumbotron in my entire life. The end of the fourth quarter, a giant camera rolls up to us and says, hey, guys, do you want to go on the Jumbotron? Well, first it was, if you take your Broncos hat off, we could put you on the Jumbo Tron. True story. To your son? Yeah. So you got on? Yeah, so we got on the Jumbotron. I've never been on in my life. That was the highlight of the game. For you.
So it was a great. It was a very successful first NFL game for my son. He enjoyed it thoroughly. He was screaming. He was insulting me. I was very proud. Oh, that's fantastic. I went to bed right after that game. I was so upset. As a David Johnson owner, as a Cardinals fan, I tucked the kids in and I said, good night day. As a Cardinal fan, that game was the equivalent of being buried alive one scoop.
from the shovel at a time. It was just... We got dump trucked in about the first two minutes. Yeah, but then after that, yes. It was slow. It was a slow. Yeah, we were up to our neck in a second and then a little teaspoon. Look, it was bad. And luckily, we don't have to talk about the Cardinals all day to day. Fantasy forecast part two on the show today, news in and out, Foot Clan Friday, and the Daily Dose to finish it up. So if we want...
Let's temporarily distract ourselves. Put Clan Friday. It's Friday, which means we give away a $55 gift card to a Foot Clan supporter from Join the Foot.com. The community is join thefoot.com and the website's the fantasy footballers.com to further reflect on Thursday night on some of the good aspects and some of the changes that are taking place. We did get word just before the show began that a Mayan sacrifice had taken place. Mike McCoy has been relieved of all of his duties. He will no longer be the offensive coordinator for the Arizona Cardinals. Byron left, which will be.
upgraded into the offensive coordinator position. So the very first question everyone is going to have, I'm going to pose it to Jason because he has David Johnson in the league of record. Byron moving up, is this, David Johnson is freed. You need to go and get him on your team right now while the values are incredibly low. Are you selling on the hype? What this means, what this means is that you hold him. If you're a David Johnson owner, it gives you hope. It gives you the idea that maybe they'll
Throw the ball to him. So you're not going to sell that on that hope? Right. I'm not going to sell on that hope because I believe it is there. But I'm also not going to go purchase because you're still dealing with, I mean, despite the fact that they ran up the middle over and over again or tried to, they didn't have a left guard or a right guard starter and a rookie center. Yes, they might run David Johnson to the outside a little bit more. Thank goodness. But it's still bad when your offensive line.
is completely banged up and injured. Your quarterback is a rookie. These are not good things for David Johnson. I always hesitate to give any rosy outlook for a cardinal because we'll be accused of being somehow, you know, Rosen colored glasses here. But I'm very optimistic. I would purchase David Johnson because the owners are frustrated beyond belief. They watched a nationally televised disaster movie.
last night. He scored very few points. And the thing I love about Byron Lefich is that this is an Aryan's guy. This is a guy who was there. It's not a new play, a new offensive coordinator coming in that is unfamiliar with David Johnson, is unfamiliar with a vertical passing game. This was a hand-picked Aryan's recruit that has been around when David Johnson's had success, and it can't be worse than it was.
I agree with Jason. Look, you're not going to buy him for a high price, but you can maybe buy him as cheap as you'll ever get him right now. Yeah, I mean, would you rather have, I mean, I'm trying to pick a name out that you could go get him for. Yeah, give me. Carlos Hyde.
Sure. If I could trade Carlos Hyde for David Johnson, I would absolutely do that. Would you rather have Philip Lindsay, rest of season, or David Johnson? I would still much rather have David Johnson, despite the injury to Royce Freeman. Some reports saying it's a high ankle spray might be a few weeks. Lindsay looks great, but I would still, of course, rather have David Johnson. So there is a... I'm saying poke around. Sure. Poke around with a needle.
and see if someone can make a mistake. I agree with that because you do bring up valid points of the continuity that Leftwich has with the Aryan system. I do like that. With Mike McCoy being out of the way, look, he can't hurt you anymore. He can't hurt you. Yeah. So the Broncos, obviously, their defense showed up in a huge way. Made Josh Rosen look silly. Three interceptions, multiple fumbles. David Johnson, just 2.8 to carry.
Christian Kirk, 3 for 57, the leading receiver for the Cardinals again, but it seemed like they forgot about him for long parts of the game. On the other side of the ball, Philip Lindsay, 14 for 90, 6.4 a carry, one touchdown, caught a pass, and they were out in front in this game. The big news was Royce Freeman. Royce Freeman, at the end of the game, left with an ankle injury. It's been reported by multiple sources now that he's expected to miss time. Adam Schaefter said, likely to miss time.
Another Denver B reporter said it looks like a high ankle sprain. I would pick up Devata Booker. They're never going to have this be a one running back show. Agreed. And so he'll get enough work to be relevant if you're in a deeper league or next week is the bypocalypse. So, you know, people are going to be bidden on Booker. Great opportunity for Lindsay. Absolutely. Emmanuel Sanders also went down with an ankle injury. Reports are that he says he could have come back in the game.
We'll see. He had a monster game again. I mean, six for 102 and a touchdown, a 64-yard bomb, seven targets, and threw a touchdown. Yeah, he did his best, O'Dell Beckham, the trick play, throwing the touchdown to Cortland Sutton. You know what's crazy is there have been three wide receivers this season who have thrown a touchdown, and all three have also caught a touchdown in the same game.
Wow. You got to balance the scales. Albert Wilson, Odell Beckham, and Emmanuel Sanders, who's next? So we know who's probably not next. Deshaun Hamilton, not that he was really on the fantasy radar, but he is on the longer term fantasy radar. And idiot on the Cardinals just ran into him after he had waived for a fair catch. He went down with a knee injury. It looked like one of those, oh, crap, knee injuries was immediately ruled out. We don't have further news.
about him, but a very, very unfortunate situation. I believe video evidence from pro football doc believes it was going to be an ACO. Yeah, that's what I thought when I saw it. The Saints have placed wide receiver Ted Ginn on injured reserve. Guys, are you leaning the Cameron Meredith or Trey Kwan Smith direction when it comes to FAB waiver pickup? Obviously, Ginn was a pretty integrated part of that offense. I lean the Treyquan Smith.
By a mile. Wow. By a mile? Now, Cam Meredith gets a boost here, right? But he's already been on the field. He's not going to replace that role. They brought in Trey Kwan Smith to replace Ted Ginn when he, I mean, he's old. He's the, he is going to play the Ted Ginn role, is my point. So the guy that gets the bigger boost is Trey Kwan Smith, who in one game that we've seen without.
Ted Ginn. Now there's a difference between getting a bigger boost though and being the target, right? Yes. So I'm asking you who do you want to target on waivers between Treyquant and Meredith? Because both are out there. Yes. And I lean the Cam Meredith side. I get that Treyquon's going to take over the Ginn roll, but he's still a rookie. Cam Meredith is a seasoned wide receiver who was, I mean, he was getting targets.
right before the buy week. And I know Smith came through with the huge fantasy game, but I think he had three targets. So it was just, it was two really long receptions, not taking that away from Smith. But I'm going to take just the more experienced player. I think that the target volume will go up for Cam Meredith. Smith will have his explosive plays. But of the two, I'm going to take the, I'm going to go after.
the target. Yeah, I totally get the argument. I'm usually a volume over big play guy, but in this situation, and this isn't hypothetical, right? In our listener league, I have Ted Ginn, and both guys are on waivers, and I've put my bids in, and my bid was fully on Treyquan. That's the way I lean, not because I don't like the targets, but because you're talking about adding to the bottom of your bench, and I'd rather see if I'm discovering something new and special than something...
In the middle of the pack. Something okay. Yeah, let's get into the N&O. What's it going to be in or out? All right. We're projecting whether some of these players are going to be out there on Sunday. Be sure to follow along with us. Game Day alerts on Sunday morning for those that join the Foot.com. Mike will also be on his live stream one hour before game time. So we'll catch you up. Obviously more news is going to break. Leonard Fernette. Yeah, he's not going to be in. No way. Yeah. What about T.J. Eldon is replacement.
He's not been practicing, but I still believe he will play. Well, he had limited practice on Thursday. I think he's going to play. All right. Why don't we talk about Dalvin Cook? What is happening with Delvin Cook? What was weird is I... Why don't we fill people in on the latest that is going on? Yeah, so a report came out saying he practiced in full again. On Wednesday. Yeah, and then it was corrected to, did not participate at all. So they got that opposite. That's right. Just to clarify, he did practice in full on Wednesday.
Yes. It was Thursday that he was reported, practiced in full, and then by head coach Mike Zimmer, then they came back and said he got a DNP. But Zimmer's still saying he's fine. So people asked yesterday, why would you start yelled in over Dalvin Cook? It's because you don't, Cook was fine last week, wink, wink. So until he's fine on the field, on a Sunday from first quarter through fourth, I'm waiting. Certainly. Matt Brita.
