To the Fantasy Footballers Podcast with your host.
Andy Holloway, Jason Moore, and Mike Wright. Oh, my goodness. We're back again. The draft is behind us. The fantasy football draft is before us. And that was quite the introduction. I don't know what to make of it. I have no idea what's going on. It's going to be the best show of all time. We are after the draft. We have everybody's...
Favorite NFL player, David Johnson. This is going to be the best show of all time. Wait, is he on the show? He is on the show. The show. What show? Our show? Our show right now. David Johnson is here talking to the fantasy footballers, Andy Mike and Jason, back again, May 3rd, 2016. I am excited beyond measure for this show today. We are...
talking about the draft, what has transpired, and we are talking to David Johnson running back of the Arizona Cardinals, the hometown team for us, the host, but I think in a way for fantasy owners, kind of your best friend as well, because he helped so many owners to an exciting, fun, winning end of the season. He was somebody that, you know, when we're talking about the draft, we liked him a lot coming out of Northern Iowa.
as that flyer pick. We didn't know he'd go to Arizona. We didn't know where he'd end up, but we liked the talent and that turned into talent on the field. And so we will be talking to him shortly on the show. I got a good quick question for you guys, but let's go here. Jason, you were gone, right, on Thursday our last time we recorded. How are you feeling? I was a little under the weather still feeling, you know, a little sick, but I think it was important to be here today.
You look nice. That is a new shirt. Thank you. You dressed up for an audio interview. It is my birthday as we report. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Happy birthday. That's what you were trying to say. Yeah, no. Wow. That's cool. Happy birthday, Jason. Thank you. Thank you. And so let's see here. What do we got going on before we get to the quick question? I want to let you know about our Twitter.
At the FF Ballers, you can follow Jason, the birthday boy, at Jason FFL. He was tweeting rapidly during the draft and beyond. Oh, yeah. Lots of good insight there. You can follow me at Andy Holloway, follow Mike, at FFHitman. You can find us on the web, the fantasy footballers.com. Quick announcement there. Our rankings are on the website. We're going to be overhauling those rankings or updating them is a much better way to put it.
updating those rankings. We're tearing them down. We're destroying them. Building them back up. Yeah, all the rookie, all the draft picks. Today's show is a lot about the winners and losers from the draft, whether it's the players that were actually drafted or the ones they impact, which is kind of, you know, Mike and I talked about that on Thursday. So all the rookies will get their rankings. You'll see guys move up and down. DeMarco Murray. And so you'll see guys change. I was actually concerned for your health over there. I thought you were.
Well, I'm interested to see, you know, what happens to, like, Jay Ajay. Mike and I were just talking about him. I had rated him kind of where he was without, you know, losing the job. Mike had originally rated him as though somebody else would be brought in there. And obviously. And Jason might say someone was brought in. Yeah, and there was. They drafted a running back. And so we'll talk about that. We'll adjust our rankings. They'll be updated this week on the website. The draft kit is up on the website as well. Our 2016 Ultimate Draft Kit, it is May.
And so there is one month left. It's going to be my... Yeah. You guys don't know that joke? Oh, yeah. I got... It's good. I just didn't give you anything in return. That's fine, because we'll leave the humor to the funny guys over here. Okay, that's fine. I was focusing on the draft kit that's available until June 1st at a discount on the website. All right, guys, let's just jump into this. Quick question. Sadly...
My favorite job moment was not Derek Henry magically going to Detroit, which, by the way, the second that episode was over, I knew my odds were 0.01%, but I still hoped. That's somehow they traded back. Well, that's the thing. I got so much hate on Twitter. As if that was like... As if that was a real, like, a high odds projection because I built it up. That was supposed to be bold, crazy moves, and then I got so many... Not a genius.
Missed on that one, didn't you? However, however, you were the only one that really truly believed the Cowboys would take Ezekiel Elliott. I did not think they would. I gave them a little bit more respect and thought that they would do the wise thing from a football standpoint. However, that is just so phenomenal for fantasy that Ezekiel Elliott goes to the Cowboys behind that offensive line. Was that your favorite moment? That was by far.
My favorite moment. Is that the question today? Yeah, the question today is, what was your favorite draft moment? Mine was not, obviously, my dream come true of Henry going to Detroit. But Ezekiel, it was a big moment. There were many. I mean, I'm going to step away from Tunzel and the gas mask as a possible draft moment because that was so terrible for the individual himself. Yeah, that was incredible. I mean, it's like, just to speak to that for a split second. It's sad for him.
It is also a lesson to any and all future athletes, human beings. Let's just put it out there as human beings. What you do on social media will be found. And someday it will matter. In life, right? Because that wasn't him doing something on social media. That was him doing something that somebody else put on social media. But these things come back. He allowed it to be recorded. I heard that so the talk was that the Ravens had said,
Tunsel will not get biased at number six. And then the mask gate happened. They passed on Tunsel. And he ended up falling, I believe, 13 or so for the dolphins. Correct. A difference of seven. I've heard it was $7 million. So whoever leaked that photo or leaked the video, $7 million. I hope you're proud of yourself. They're saying maybe an ex-financial advisor did that.
That's the last report that I heard. Wow. It's unconfirmed, but it was possibly an ex-financial advice. Bad financial advice. So favorite draft moment, are you going with Ezekiel Elliott? Yeah, I will go with Ezekiel Elliott. The reason is because going into the draft, right, from a fantasy football perspective, he was the domino of dominoes. He was going to change those middle picks presumably of that eight to 14 range. Where's he go? And when he went number four, there were two incredible things that happened.
One was just the fun of realizing that you have a top five running back probably for fantasy next year already in the draft. And the second is really, you know, we give a shout out to our man Brooks, who's a big part of what we do here at the fantasy footballers. And he is in our rookie draft for our Dynasty League. He has the first round first pick.
And so we know who's going there. And he's a huge Cowboys fan. And he's a Cowboys fan. So I was happy for him. And it was just a great moment for this year. What a way to kick off the draft. Because you already knew the first two picks. So really, Ezekiel Elliott, that was just a lot of fun. And not pictured. I wish we had camera of David Caldwell, the Jacksonville Jaguars general manager. Because I feel like he probably rocketed. Levitated out of his chair with shock. He's like.
I get to take Ramsey's on the board? Well, okay. You know, phone it in. So my favorite part of the draft, if you did not follow me on Twitter, you would have seen it because it was in all capital letters. I could not contain myself. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers moved up. They moved up into the second round to draft a kicker. Wow. You got to trade up for that? That was...
I lost all control of my bodily functions on the couch. I started writhing around. I could not believe what I was really regretted coming over when that. But it was just tremendous that somebody would do something like that. And it's, it reminds you of, it was definitely like a fantasy football draft when someone takes the kicker. But Mike, he's the best kicker in the history of college football.
Football, isn't that worth it? No, it's not worth the second round pick. No, you could have sat at the third and he would have... That's the problem I have with it, is that you didn't need to trade up for him. You thought so. You don't know how hot that kicker market gets in the second round. Now that the extra point has been permanently moved back, Jason. Roberto Aguio was a must-have kick. I like that they moved right ahead of the Patriots, who clearly...
uh have a big kicker need because remember that kick oxkowski missed he's out the door he's gone aguarial bell is what was your favorite move andy i'm going to go with zeke as well uh i don't i don't have another one that sticks out as one significant moment from that first round so i think zeke going for and just seeing you know i went back and listened to mike and i debating that in the beginning of the show and mike gave way too much credit to jerry jones i did you know snider's going to snider jones is going to jones
after a while, and he did. And so that being said, it's hard to really justify picking a running back at four in the NFL anymore. First round. First round. It's hard to justify that at all. Yeah. And then in the second round, they took a chance on the backer from Notre Dame that they think, you know, maybe he's going to come back, maybe he's not going to come back. Smith? Yeah. And so high risk, high reward type of picks for Dallas, but for fantasy owners.
You got to enjoy the hype that will surround Elliot. And we'll have to discuss kind of where we think Elliot will end up in fantasy drafts because there'll be a lot of reaction. Yep. And what we do here on the show is try to bring that into focus. Bring that reaction into focus. And then, yeah, yeah. So lots to go over, lots of winners and losers. And so let's not forget. Also on board of the show.
