Welcome to the show. Our meeting. We are back again. All healthy, happy, and dressed up. The fantasy pirate is here for you. Oh, my goodness. That's right. I forgot all about that. That was a situation when you were the real fantasy pirate. That was on a Join the Foot show.
uh one of our our footcast one of our thursday footcast shows someone asked me to do a uh whole question as a pirate well then you also had the the flag football injury where you were a pirate for quite some time that was the that was the cause of the question where you lost your eye so you can hear me through the beard we can hear you loud and clear i was trying to decide what to go as tonight with the kids you know we're going out trick-or-treating and i thought about trying to figure out a way to use this beard to be like elderly
Fantasy Hitman in some way. But I didn't have any undersized cutoff jeans. Yeah. So your clothing apparel, I don't know. I don't know if you have the cool. It would be a struggle to find the proper amount of tie-dye and cut-off jeans. Tie-dye. Yeah, I get that. I get that. A faded tie-dye. I mean, not flamboyant tie-dye. Okay. You've got tie-dye. No. I'll bet you have tie-dye underwear. No. Yes.
I know it's... What about just colorful camouflage? Is that what you wear? I'll take that, but I don't own a single piece of tie-dye. Oh, well, okay. Yet. Beg to differ. By the time you're the hitman grandpa. Agree to disagree. Welcome to the podcast. The fantasy footballers back again. Oh, my goodness. All right. We're coming off of week eight. We've got a game tonight, and there's nothing more spooky than the bear's offense right now. Woo!
So we'll get into that a little bit. Have a great quick question. Fantasy Rewind. All the news notes, injuries, stud muffins, and the poopers. What a week it was. The guys who laid eggs for you, all the injuries, just a, I mean, I'll share this. I've done it again. I traded for another loss. I, you know, fantasy owner out there, you may not be a quote unquote fantasy expert, but we share the same.
Toils. I will tell you right now. I mean, I already did it. You heard the story earlier this year when I traded for Oda Beckham Jr. so that my opponent had to play Victor Cruz, and then I would have won had I not done it. This week, I made a trade. Traded Derek Carr. Got Andrew Luck. Upgrade. Both of these two hooligans right next to me.
praised me. I believe they bowed down to me and said, what a trade. In my defense, I praised you as a long-term keeper option. I liked the move for you. It wasn't this week. I believe Andrew Luck was Mike's number one quarterback this week. Is that correct? He didn't finish there? No, he had half the points Derek Carr had. I know who did finish there, Mike. Who finished? Derek Carr. Oh, yes. Yes. And then I made the decision to start Chris Thompson over Theo Riddick. Of course, I made that decision.
before I knew Dwayne Washington was out, but I couldn't go back because of the London game. So I am here to complain on Halloween. So if you are in my shoes, which many of you are because so much... This week was just not... Just so many crazy things. Not chalk. When the news came out that Ty Montgomery was out with an illness, that was the one that just really like... To me, that was indicative of how this week went.
Just things that you couldn't have seen coming that, I mean, I guess he was missing, right, a practice because of illness. It was very rare for someone to miss a game because of illness. And nobody, nobody out there expected time Montgomery to miss. And all of a sudden, Randall Cobb, time Montgomery, you're not playing. Yeah. Welcome to football starts in five minutes. Now, I forget that people are not all watching on YouTube right now. So they probably don't know that Jason looks like a pirate. Mike looks like.
Frankenstein? Frankenstein's monster. Ah, yes, thanks. That's a good point. Not a scientist. No. We all know that. And I am dressed up as Gandalf. Yes. And I look great. I just look great. Ironically, this is the exact same outfit my son wore to school a few days ago. So we are sharing a costume this week. Quick question of the day, guys, from Gucci Mainz lawyer. That's his name. Okay.
Based solely on the first eight weeks of the season, who would you take with your first pick next year? That's an easy one for me. That would be Levion Bell. Not much has changed, but he has shown that he is still the player who we all thought he would be or hoped he would be. I assume Big Ben will be healthy to start the season next year. Levion Bell would be my number one. When you have those Levion Bells, David Johnson, the running backs that are truly a cut above the others.
They are worth more than the wide receivers who are a cut above others. And Andy is celebrating. We have two hands in the air, two fists. I just realized my almost subset of the week was another one point loss. Oh, you did it. 32, 33. Oh, did I pick Green Bay to win or lose? I don't remember. No, Atlanta was favored by three and a half. And I picked Green Bay as the almost upset of the week. So now Mike will give you credit. Yeah. Yeah. No, that's how you win. One point loss. That's how you win. So what do you think? Is it Lev Bell? Is there any temptation for Ezekiel Elliott?
I would say this. Levy on Bell, we are not 100% sure that he's going to be back in Pittsburgh. There is the possibility of him moving on. He is in a contract year. I expect he's going to demand a lot of money. I don't know if Pittsburgh's willing to pay up for the asking price. I expect he's going to get it. Yeah, I think he'll be back in Pittsburgh. I'm just saying that we don't know. That's not a concrete. Sure. So is it not left for you? Is it Antonio Brown? It's, it would be either Antonio Brown or.
or David Johnson. So let me ask you this. I'm going to change the question for a second. Well, you've got to answer it too. It would be Lev Bell for me. Okay. But based on the first eight weeks of the season, if you could go back to the beginning of this year and change the number one pick, based on how it's gone and how it should go for the next eight weeks, who would you pick? Would it be Lev Bell still? No. For me, it probably wouldn't be. No, you don't need those couple weeks. Exactly. You don't need to sacrifice first three weeks of the season when you got David Johnson out there who's been every bit as good, every bit is reliable.
I would take David Johnson. All right. Let's move it on. Weekly rewind. Also, don't forget we have Raising Cains Rising Stars on the show today. I have a very, very wet beard. I tried to drink some of this. I was watching it dribble down your beard. Yeah, I tried to drink some of my water and through the beard. That was a very wet whiskers at the moment. I don't know if they're...
The real Gandalf struggle with the same things, but we'll see. Jerry Jones said Dak Prescott will start Sunday versus the Browns. Alert. Yeah. Tony's not ready to play. Tony will not be, I think, physically healthy until Dak is really struggling. This is how it goes every year. It's like the guy that's injured who got kind of surplanted. For some reason, he's not even active. Surplanted? Yes. It was the beard.
Sir, sir, plent. He was the part of the Knights of the Round. Okay, go on. But we see it all the time. I mean, think about Jay Cutler, right? Surplanted. Jay Cutler. Good to see you. I'm a pirate. Ar. Surplanted. You know, with Jay Cutler. Pirate grammar fits good. That offhand, you know, kept him from being able to be active, even in a backup role. And then all of a sudden,
Very healthy. When Hoyer broke his arms, he's like, oh, he's completely ready to go. And that's what you're going to see with Tony Romo. They're going to say he's not healthy until DAC is struggling, which might not happen. Early reports from Jason Lockham for is that Big Ben is expected to play in week nine against the Ravens. And this is a complete opposite. I believe it was Adam Schaefter reported that Big Ben is still going to miss a few weeks. Fight. Fight. So we have inside source fighting going on. But.
It's a check out the practice reports this week. If it's trending the right direction, I would expect them to play. All right. Let's talk Kansas City concussions. Oh, my goodness. Alex Smith and Spencer Ware are both out with a concussion. Now you've also got reports that Jamal Charles will visit Dr. James Andrews to have his knee checked out. Never a good, never a good sign. That's Halloween right there. Two concussions in one game is especially frightening. That's what happened with Alex Smith. It's not two. He cleared.
He cleared the concussion protocol. He came back in. He had the scare. I agree with you, though, that if you leave and you come back, I mean, it pretty much feels like you got two concussions, which is, that's got to be dangerous. All right, Jaquiz Rogers left with a foot injury. By the way, Char West is the guy to own and start next week if Spencer Ware is out. Which, uh, and then back to that. Apparently Nick, Nick Foles. All Nick Foles needs is Andy Reed.
I mean, I guess he was good with Chip Kelly, but that was still on the team that Andy Reid had set up. I would argue that's all Alex Smith needed. That's all a lot of guys need. I mean, Alex, look, he's a great coach. Yeah. And this team, I think I read something like, what are they, 14 and 2 in their last 16 games? Yes. I mean, end of the year with 10 straight wins and then lost a couple, and now they haven't lost. Yeah, Jock Whiz, I'm hearing the rumors from the bushes. We're looking at a multi-week absence. So this is a...
problem. They are on Thursday. I cannot imagine that Doug Martin will be active. Is it Peyton Barber or is it Anton Smith? Anton Smith out snapped Peyton Barber by a wide, wide margin, which means, I don't know. Well, you have to keep in mind, like, they brought in Jaquiz Rogers from the past when he was with it. He knew Cutter System. He knew Cutter System from Atlanta. They used him. He trusted him. Guess who else was with him in Atlanta was Anton Smith. Yeah. So.
I think it would be. They'll both have their reps, but it's. Yeah, you're going to want to pick up both guys. You'll probably get Anton Smith cheaper. Maybe it. Yeah, that's, this is. Peyton Barber Flash with that 44-yard run a couple weeks ago. We'll see if we get some more news. DeMarco Murray's MRI came back negative. He obviously played really well this past week. They said he might miss some practice time, but he shouldn't be in trouble. However, still a reminder. Go get Derek Henry. I post, I tweeted, go trade for him, grab him. He's the, he's the handcuff. And not just handcuff, but the backup.
to own because how do you do it with a pirate well done yeah well done um all right will fuller left to the leg injury we have to monitor that but that kind of uh stunk for start of the week predictions yeah i'll tell you man brock brock had a great opportunity and he's just not good yeah i mean dandre hopkins will fuller those are guys that we expected to get it done this week but
Are you ready to give up on Hopkins? I had my soapbox moment last week where I told you he's entering into that Larry Fitzgerald in his prime zone where you've got a quarterback who's afraid to stretch the field. They have a situation. They have a situation, don't they? Yes. I would trade Brock Osweiler for Brian Hoyer. That's for sure. I think you're going to have, you know, three or four weeks as the season goes on where you've got a guy like Mohammed Sunu who's going to outscore DeAndre Hopkins. And that's just.
Yucky. Yes, I agree. You had the time Montgomery News and Cobb missed an injury. Montgomery is dealing with a kidney-related ailment, and his deactivation was deemed precautionary. So... The one thing you saw, though, while basically those two players were both filling in at running back, what you saw as far as the Packers game plan was they didn't really have a true...
quality replacement. Aaron Rogers led them in rushing yards. And so I expect that when Ty is back, if James Starks is not, which I don't think he's back this week, Ty's going to move right back into that role he had. Yeah, Nile Davis and Don Jackson did very, very, very little. Did you guys see Wade Phillips go down? I did. Oh, man. Yeah, he got, he took a pretty big shot.
