The football week of last week is over. I don't know what week was the week six. It is October 14th. Welcome to the fantasy footballers podcast. Your regular co-host, Andy Holloway, is on a much-deserved vacation with his family. So I searched and scoured the podcast Waverwire. And unluckily, I was very low in the priority list. So we came up with my good friend.
Nicholas Vance. Thank you. Thank you. Your fab bid wasn't enough. You could have gotten so much better. But Nick, Nick is in the league with Andy and I, and he fills in occasionally when we do these podcasts, and he gives his ideas. And he's really here to fill in the void. Fill the void and talk about how great.
I am. And how much he agrees with everything I say. You're the best. So I'll start this. I had an idea. And since Andy's here, too, he can't say no. So we're locking this in. I came up with a new name for myself. Let's hear it. I'm Mike Wright, the fantasy hitman. The fantasy hitman. That's right. Because I looked around, you know, like a lot of guys have some cool nicknames. Right. It's not usually the coolest thing to nickname yourself, but I just did.
Yeah, I think that takes away all street cred from the set. It doesn't matter. People will never know. That's true. It is fantasy. Fantasy hitman. All right. So, and like I said, Andy is not here to stop it. So, how did your week go? How'd your fantasy week go? It's been a lot like the way the whole year has been for me, a downward spiral of terrible, bad choices, injuries.
I have never had a year this bad. I'm currently 1 in 4. 1 in 5. Yeah, 1 in 5. We always say week 6. Yeah, 1 in 5. It's not going great. We're, of course, in a Keeper League. I'm not ready to sell the farm yet, but it's one loss away. We are a keeper league and also a draft pick can be traded. It went well for me. I ended up winning. I got to do the magical I was up.
four or five points with, I had San Francisco's defense going into Monday. That's right. And we've had some debacles in our league with people getting negative points, so I pulled them. I said, I'm taking no chances. Of course, I should have left them in and got all those delicious points that they put up. So let's move around to, let's move to some news and notes. News and notes from around the league. Let's hit the injury report. The blood bath continued this week.
It's brutal. It was pretty bad. Victor Cruz out for the season, Torne Patelter, is what they're saying. He might miss two weeks. And I'm not sure if that two weeks means his bye week, which is coming up and then another week. Right. I don't know. They did not clarify. I wouldn't be surprised to see him in after the buy, but I guess it depends on what. He is a tough man, Darren Sprouls. Have they done an MRI on that yet?
Yeah, I think that's where we came up with the slight NCL terror. I'm not positive yet. Stephen Ridley, he's gone, ACL. Eddie Royal left the game with a rib injury that we need to monitor that. Theo Riddick aggravated his hamstring, which Detroit, I think Reggie Bush is scheduled to play this week, but if not, I mean, Joach Bell, load him up again. Yeah. Cordill Patterson claims.
He's not playing healthy, aka I'm doing terrible because I'm hurt. I've heard that before. I've used that before. His hips don't lie, man. Or do they? Fossey Whitaker injured his quad. Jonathan Stewart, I think, is back. Marvin Jones puts on the IR. That just kept...
getting worse and worse throughout the week, and now he's gone. Yep. Compounded by AJ Green's mysterious toe, who AJ Green himself said, I don't think I'm playing this week. And then Coach Lewis, oh, yeah, he might play. What did, does this really work? Like, when coaches say, hey, you know, he might play, then because they want the other team to.
have to prepare but yeah i mean you're forcing somebody to prepare for a scenario that they would have prepared for regardless yeah i don't know i just think you sound stupid i agree and it hurts us all in the fantasy world yeah it sure does marvin lewis think of the think of the fans think of the children think of who pays your check i mean i guess technically the owner does but right we give money to the owner uh is annoying and marino yep another i r what happened
You know what? I'm a huge... Mr. Dolphins fan. Yeah, I'm a huge Miami Dolphins fan. He didn't look hurt. I didn't think anything of it. Yeah, he's done for it. For the year, ACL. That was a big blow for me. Yes. And apparently, he tore the ACL on a play. He waved for Lamar Miller to come in, and then waved him out and proceeded to play the next snap with the...
with a torn ACL. Yeah. So, No Sean Marino, his man card has increased in size. Yep. That is a tough person. It's a beastly thing. So what do we got next on our docket? Oh, let's move to some stud muffins. This week's fantasy stud muffins. So this week, you heard it here first, folks, on the fantasy footballers. Joe Flecoe.
My goodness, Joe Flacco, five touchdowns in the first quarter. Bonkers. That is some stunning analysis. Yes. I was floored. I did not expect that to happen out of that game. I was completely stunned. Because you did not buy into the fantasy footballers. I did not. You guys know. Start of the week. Yep. And he went, so he went nuts. Five touchdowns in the first quarter. I think.
He can actually continue this. So, because what we do with the stud muffins is we try and think, couldn't this player continue this? And I think Joe Flacco is going to have a, he's set up for another decent week. I can't remember his math. I was going to say, I don't have his schedule in front of you. I have it in front. He's playing the Falcons. Okay. Gross. So, yeah. And he, I believe it's at home. So Flacco could possibly have another game. It was very disappointing that they,
Why would you not go for the record? I've never, I always would. I always would. I don't get, I don't, it's, you've got five touchdowns. You just have to get to seven to tie it. You got three quarters. I would, I would pour it on. I mean, I get that there's a respect and not, you know, running up the score, but. I, to me, and I, I understand that the angle of that, but to me, these are, these are, these aren't, it's not college. Right, these are.
grown men who are being paid lots of money to do this. True. So maybe play some defense if you don't want to people to embarrass you by throwing five touchdowns in the first quarter. Welcome. I wish I had the welcome back button. Cameron Newton. No joke. Back at his prime. Or looking like his prime. Vintage. Yeah, vintage Newton. And as we.
or if you're in the fantasy community, you know that Vintage Newton, that's a top five quarterback. Absolutely. The problem with him all year has been his ankle. He ran, I think, over 10 times for over 100 yards and a score, which is what elevates him beyond other quarterbacks who can't do that. Exactly. Because you can throw for 50 yards and get two points.
Or he can run for 50 yards and get five points. Right. Which he still throws and he runs. So I think he, I'm not completely convinced that he's back, but I'm... I don't know how long of a run this is going to be. I would like to see him back completely like this next week and week after, but... Wow, do you have his schedule? Yeah, the Panthers are playing... Why don't I know this one? Panthers...
They're playing the Packers. Oh, okay. Yeah. So it's a good matchup, and I think that he might be back. Also, welcome back. Thomas Brady. We buried him. Yep. I buried him. And then... I mean, as... I have to respect the guy. Obviously, as a Dolphins fan, I'm not going to like the guy, but I didn't think that he wasn't going to come back. And...
I don't know. Now that's two games in a row where he is produced and Gronk is getting healthier, although Gronk did have a little scare in the game, but he seemed just fine. I have, I still have a hard time buying completely back into Brady where, I mean, if he's on the waiver wire, you got to pick him up. Right. And, yeah, man, I don't know. I think he's maybe back, but.
They're a tricky offense, and they lost Ridley. That is true. Maybe they're going to throw. Brandon Oliver continued. He delivered on the Waverwire hype, and he had over 100 yards of touchdown. Darren McFadden. Yeah. Yeah. Run DMC. My bench warmer. That was a good choice. Should you start Steven Jackson? Yeah, I think I will. Spirano. He said, I'm going to run the ball.
And they ran decent. They did. It also helps when Derek Carr is throwing four touchdown. That is true. But I, Darren McFadden, I don't know, he's back. I don't think he really left my radar, but he was pretty low on the list. Yeah. But he's increased. I want to say he didn't have a great week before the buy. I just can't remember the exact points. But the, was MJD has been.
complete letdown. Right. And it's McFadden's job. I think maybe he's on the rise, because I like Derek Carr. I like what's happening for that team. I like Andre Holmes a lot. Yeah. So I move on. Mohammed Sanoo. Yeah. That guy, if you go back and look at Sanoo's numbers, he has been a fantasy monster. Yeah. I think he has one dud this year.
All arrows pointing up for Sunu, no AJ Green this week, unless you're Marvin Lewis and you think your guy with a torn ligament or whatever since his toe. And so Sunu is, hopefully you picked him up because I'm sure he's long gone. And then, this is one's unfortunate for me because I just, I don't like him. And not like not, I don't like him as a person, but, well, I don't like his stupid.
Touchdown dance. Yeah, I agree with that. But the volcano finally erupted, and T.Y. Hilton destroyed for 223 yards and a touchdown. And probably should have had another one, except he got swiped. He got grazed. And I don't know. I was not high on him. I'm still not. I'm not convinced that that's going to be a long-term thing. There's a lot of targets still on the Colts.
