Fantasy Football 2017 - Standard Mock Draft + Rising Stars

Yeah, I told you. Went off the board. You got to analyze it. When you're looking at the mountains, you got to analyze for the avalanche. So lay that out again. What did you do before you made that decision? I just looked back at the last 20 picks or so and saw that. Quite a few. That six quarterbacks have been taken. So you didn't have fear, maybe a few. I expected, you know, one or two to come off the board. But you just, you have to read your draft room to know when the run's going to happen. Do you want to start the run now?

What do you want to wait? Run through the quarterbacks who we would be looking at. So Derek Carr is still on the board, the back of the ninth round. Big Ben, Matthew Stafford, Dalton, Rivers, Tyrod. Love Tyrod. So many good. Dalton, Palmer. I mean, there's so many. Yeah, that's the problem with trying to take a quarterback at this point. And we need to grab another wide receiver. Yeah, that's what I would do as well. So Jeremy Macklin comes to mind. Yeah, he's far and away.

The guy I would want here. Did Decker get drafted? Eric Decker is gone. Other highlights from the recent round. Karim Hunt, off the board, Robert Kelly, off the board. Brandon Marshall, he almost came all the way back around to us, which would have been amazing. Let's go ahead and take Jeremy Macklin here. Sound good? I think that's a good plan. And we get another pick right away. So Jeremy Macklin off the board, Richard Matthews and C.J. Pro Seis. You know, one piece of news we didn't mention Brooks is the Corey Davis news. It's true.

We forgot that one. Corey Davis was injured. He is week to week right now. He hopes to be ready for week one. That is not good for a rookie. Wow, I didn't hear. It is not good for a rookie wide receiver to miss that much time in the offense. It really moves Richard Matthews stock up for me. It obviously makes Decker look safer. So that's breaking news there for you. Yeah, he's going to find himself in a position if he doesn't get there by week one where he has to.

fight his way back in the lineup, you know, with all the other time on Taylor and Delaney Walker and Decker. I think that, and I just want to point out at this part of the draft, we are in the 10th round. This is where I'm looking at Jaquiz Rogers a lot of the time to fill in because I know that, or at least we're projecting that he'll be the starter for three weeks. But with our running back depth.

I don't think I would actually take him here. I just wanted to bring his name up. It seems like an impossible situation where we would play him. I can't imagine playing him over the four kind of guaranteed starters that we have. So, yeah, it's a good point. Kenny Britt's sitting there. Should be the number one guy in Cleveland. Kenny Britt. Last year over 1,000 yards. Who else is in your thought process now? Jeremy Hill. I mean, we're getting down to slim pickings at running back. There's not a lot of guys there that, you know, Rex Burkhead.

Could take a flyer on him. Good. Jeremy Hill. I think this is actually a point where Randall Cobb in a standard league, you want touchdowns, you want a guy who can get touchdowns. Devante Adams was a wide receiver won last year. Why? Because the touchdowns went his way. Aaron Rogers is still going to throw the touchdowns and whether they go to. He'll throw all of the touchdowns. We also have. He puts him in a bag and he throws the bag. We have Jordy.

And so this is one of those situations where once you're in double-digit rounds, you're much less, I'm not worried about, we're not trying to start Randall Cobb necessarily unless there's a great matchup where we just think there's, you know, a ton of touchdowns to go around. Or when week four comes around and he's trending as that number two wide receiver, you can easily, just like last year, if you started Jordy and Devante Adams, you would have been fine. But the touchdown upside in the standard league to get Cobb in double-digit rounds, I like it.

All right, let's take Randolpho. So our bench has Peterson, Moncrief, Macklin, and Cobb. Our starters are Freeman, Miller, Jordy Nelson, Terrell Pryor, Tyler Eifert, and Frank Gore. Seems like a really well-rounded team. I like it. We're sitting here. We need one more bench spot. We need a quarterback and the defense and a kicker. So these two picks right now, this is going to be a bench spot and a quarterback. So it might as well take our cream of the crop picket quarterback right now.

with this 11th round pick, the 11th pick of the 11th round. And I'll jump in here because you guys probably aren't going to agree with me, but the fact that Ben Rothesberger has fallen this far in the draft with the news of Martavis coming back. And do not forget, when Martavis is on the field, Big Ben and the Steelers are essentially a touchdown batter per game. So.

I have Big Ben, I think, as my number six quarterback, I have a ton of faith in him. Granted, you have the Home Away splits, which can be very nasty. But I would take Big Ben. I actually love that pick for where we're at. And if there is a chance that one of the Stafford Rivers, Tyrod Taylor, gets back to us. Yeah, they will. I don't usually go to.

quarterbacks on a roster, but I feel like our depth is good at running back at wide receiver. And if one of those caliber of quarterbacks can be our second to play those matchups with Big Ben, I think you've got a rock star team. It would be the first time we've ever done that. So I think we might need to do that just for the sake of experimentation. Took Big Ben. By the way, I have to admit, I mean, Big Ben can have those monstrous games and having a healthy love bell to start the year with Martavis.

You know, the weapons are there. I mean, Antonio Brown, you don't even talk about him because you just know. You just know what he provides. But he's been talking at length about Justin Hunter, which, look, in fantasy, I'm not excited about Justin Hunter. But if Big Ben likes somebody like that, we saw Darius Hayward Bay make plays that benefited Big Ben's fantasy stats, it didn't mean you went and signed Darius Hayward Bay. But he likes Justin Hunter. We talk about Juju Smith-Juster.

You still have Rogers. Sammy, I mean, the weapons are still there. I mean, they're unbelievably high-powered, probably more than anyone in the NFL. Now, here's something, though, we did draft Big Ben, Gio and Derek Carr went. When I see Rex Burkhead on the board, I see him being offered goal line opportunities. You see somebody that's more worth, you know, you still have Dalton, Rivers, Stafford, Taylor, Palmer. Some of these guys are going to fall to the waiver wire.

I would probably lean taking the fly around Burkhead and just see what happens in the backfield in New England in week one. Yeah, I'm okay with that strategy. But I will give you the picture. You can take it. Yeah, with those guys, with how many there are left and being able to play the waiver wire, that would be good. If this were, if we had, you know, more time, I would probably look at really quick. I'd pull up and see if any of these guys.

have an opposite home road pattern. Could go Darren McFadden in case there's a suspension, but I doubt we'd ever start him over our existing guys either. Yeah. So for me, does keep him away from everybody else though. I would probably take Matthew Stafford here. All right. We'll do it. We'll take Matthew Stafford. And I'm going to go ahead and draft us a D and a kicker as we conclude this. Mike, you want to run the team back real quick before we close out the show? So our starting roster is Big Ben Rothersberger, Devante Freeman, Lamar Miller.

Jordan Nelson, Terrell, Pryor, Tyler Eifford, Frank Gore, some D, some kicker. Who cares? Who cares? Am I right? Who cares? Am I right? Our bench, Adrian Peterson, Dante Moncrief, Jeremy Macklin, Randall Cobb, and someone else. Matthew's cut it off. Matthew, thank you. Okay. That's pretty good team. I like that team. And our draft grade is ridiculously high. We actually got an A. That means it's, it's.

That means it's a terrible team. That means that team failed. Do not pay attention to draft grades. Yeah, give them that disclaimer real quick. Yeah. It's almost impossible for the human mind to not give a care about that, the validation that comes with it. It feels good. It feels good. But when you have a great team and you get a C-minus, just don't worry about it. You know more than the computer. Look, the way that you can draft an A-plus every time is to just take the best available player on the board. So that's not the goal. You want an actual Foot Clan title.

And we talked a lot about it on this show. It's roster construction. That's very important. It's not just, well, he's the best guy. Highest on the rankings. I should take him. No, you have to think about lots of, lots of different factors. All right, guys, any concluding thoughts? Any final words about the team? We just won the championship. Yeah, the best team ever, yeah, best team of all time. That was a long show. I wonder how many people know the Crossfire reference there.
