Fantasy Football 2017 - Standard Mock Draft + Rising Stars

I think Shanahan can do that with Carlos Hyde. Now, all of that being said, he's my rising star. I've raised him in my rankings twice this past week because everything has changed. And look, you have to stay water in fantasy football. I do the listeners no good if I just say I hate Carlos Hyde three months ago and I hold fast to it with new information. It's ridiculous if I do that. So if I get new information, I'm going to change my opinion. That's what's happened with Carlos Hyde. None of that changes the fact he has to stay healthy to perform.

Yes, that's very true. I mean, it's one thing to say Carlos Hyde looks like he's on a roster bubble and he can't stay healthy to now he's locked and loaded as the starter, but he can't stay healthy. So he still has to do that. Where he's going in draft right now is where he should go with the built-in risk. He's a good value there. But if he rises back up the draft board. Where is he right now? Unlike.

I don't know average draft, but I know when I have got it for you. When I have been drafting him, it's been. It's the fourth round, early fourth. Right around Dalvin Cook, Gillisley, Spencer, where, look, I like him. He's rising up my draft boards. Unlike Gurley, though, in Los Angeles, he's not going to catch the ball very much. coming back into the fold for fantasy football. But here's the thing. He's a big dude. He's got the college production. He has the draft pedigree that this was someone you needed to pay attention to, especially in, he's a guy we've talked about for Dynasty. I love him for your Dynasty team. But everything coming out of Detroit has been very positive on Kenny Galladay to the fact that, to move him up that he could be worth now a flyer in redraft leagues.

If the news continues to trend the way it has been, then he certainly becomes worth picking up late in your team or for your team talking about a devastating performance during red zone drills on Sunday. And Anquam Bolden was devastating in the red zone last year. And he's gone. And they need someone to replace that. And we, you know, people hope it's Ebron, but that's never been Ebron's.

He hasn't shown that to us yet. He hasn't stayed healthy either. Yeah, but he's never shown us that he's a touchdown scoring machine. If Kenny Galladay is going to come in and be a red zone threat, then he's going to give us some smooth routes. Oh, now you want me to hit the draw. There we go. Sorry about that. All right, it's time to mock. 12-team standard mock from the 11 spot. Very excited to jump in here. Give you some insight into our thinking as we walk through. Another mock draft. Players, they're moving around the board, a lot of news, a lot of different thought processes that go into being in this number 11 spot in your draft. So let's go ahead and kick this thing off. And David Johnson climbs right off the board. I'm shocked. Yeah, number one.

Number one, David Johnson, Lev Bell, Zeke goes number three. Okay, so Zeke's still going. Maybe some of the fear is going away for some people, maybe just the weight for a suspension or, you know. Is there supposed to be news this week? Is that correct? In fairness, there was all supposed to be news last week. The past two weeks. And the week before. Yeah. All right. Antonio Brown goes for Julio Beckham. So that's a very normal top six. And then Melvin Gordon went number seven. Ooh. LaShawn McCoy number eight.

A.J. Green 9 and J. Ajai 10. So here we are on the board. And this is a standard league. In a standard league. Old standard. Number 11. You have running backs to Marco Murray, Todd Gurley, Jordan Howard, Devonta Freeman. You have Mike Evans. You have Jordy Nelson.

in consideration. Who else are you guys thinking about here? Or is it? There's four players that I really love that are on the board. For me personally, two running backs and two wide receivers. I might be higher than both of you are on DeMarco Murray, but I put him right there with Devonthe Freeman. I would as well. He's very close. DeVontza Freeman, DeMarco Murray, love them. Then at the wide receivers, Jordy Nelson and Michael Thomas, who, you know, I still have above Mike Evans, which might be blasphemous to some.

Those are the four guys I really like, but it doesn't really push us towards which direction. So, Mike, where do you lean? Who do you want to take here? Now, I wanted to draft in the 11th spot because you have to look at, you know, let's say we have two guys we love here. We don't get to take them back to back. We have to wait and hope that one slips past the team in the 12 in the turn. So who's the best bet to get back through to us? I like Evans, Nelson, and Thomas a wide receiver. So I would take the running back here.

And to be honest with you, I lean Jordan Howard. Wow. Yeah. Really? Yeah, in a standard league, I just think the volume is going to be massive for him. Freeman's going to have far more touchdown opportunities than Jordan Howard. I lean Jordan Howard right now. Yeah, Jordan Howard to me is the next, like he's a tier down from the Freeman Murray.

I mean, totally yardage last year. What? He was second behind Ezekielia. Yeah, and he didn't start the first three games. This is not a bass Jordan Howard. No. He doesn't need to catch. In the nonstandard Freeman and Murray, some of their gloss and their glitz comes off. It's nice that they catch the ball. I'm just saying it's not as high a priority. That's just my vote. Obviously, we're not going that way based on that reaction. Even touchdowns the past two years, Freeman has been double digit touchdown. So I go Freeman or.

Jordy at this pick. But I'm with you, Andy, that there are three wide receivers that I wouldn't mind taking. So I would take Freeman. All right. Let's take Devon to Freeman. He's off the board. Evans and Howard went next. Perfect. So I think a lot of people might have been surprised we didn't just jump all over Mike Evans there at the 11. If he drops in a 12-team standard league all the way to 11. And I would not blame anybody for taking Mike Evans there. He's obviously a standard league monster.

The yardage should be there. The touchdown should be there. But I like grabbing that running back. Devonta Freeman off the board. Evans and Howard are now gone. So you still have the opportunity to go running back, running back here with DeMarco Murray. This is a perfect situation for people when they're at the 11. They're going to be in this second spot in the second round going, okay, now Jordy, DeMarco, and Michael Thomas are both.

are all three there. So let's say you're between Jordi and DeMarco. Do you prefer to start one strong running back, one strong wide receiver, allow yourself flexibility later? Or do you want to like try to really nail down one position so you can shotgun the rest? I know my preference, which I could say. I mean, I would take Jordy Nelson. I think that's where I'm leaning right now. And I do like DeMarco Murray and I like going.

I often go running back, running back. But I think I'm going to take Jordy Nelson in this by just because I have him ranked so high and early second round. I'm okay with it. I want to hear what Jason was. Who you would take? I would take Jordy here as well. I like unanimous. I like the flexibility of having a, if you can get a stud at each position, it allows me to in future rounds not feel like, man.

This running back dropped here who's so good, but I feel like I have to get a wide receiver because I already went to double running back. It allows me to take the value on the board. I don't have any problem going running back, running back, if Jordy had left or something like that. But this is my preference. I think we're off to the races here. No, that's a great start to the draft. And I'm going to add to what you just said. The flexibility is more important, in my opinion, when you're at a turn like this and have a long wait. Because if we box ourselves in and.

We roll around 18 picks, and we're up, and we have. And a wide receiver run happens between. Yeah, and there's a really nice running back. We just can't take that running back. You're stuck entirely, and you have to take the next wide receiver on the board. So I like that decision. Very interesting here now. DeMarco Murray does Bryant March on Lynch. Went next. Michael Thomas fell to the six pick of the second round. Sammy Watkins, Leonard Fournette, T.Y. Hilton, Todd Gurley, Doug Baldwin, and Isaiah Crowell.

Oh, that is so early for Doug Baldwin. I don't like Doug Baldwin in the second round there. Way too early. Went ahead of Amari Cooper in this mock. Amari led off the third round. Then Brandon Cook, Devante Adams, and Grancowski fell to the fourth pick of the third round. Aaron Rogers, Dalvin Cook, Ty Montgomery, Gillisley, and then Brady off the board, Demarius Thomas. And now we need to make a couple of picks, gentlemen. Man, Cook, Monty, and Gillisley.

Third round. I mean, you think that's the situation people are going to be looking at in their home leagues? Yeah, I do. I think Dalvin Cook's rising quite a bit. Yeah. Cook, yes. I mean, for me, we've talked a lot about Gillisley lately redraft. I love them. Regular home leagues. I'm afraid of taking that gamble, especially in the third. And Ty Montgomery is a guy I've risen on, but there's still a lot of question marks there. Jamal Williams could be a factor.

came out of Green Bay this past week that Aaron Jones was running with the third team. So that depth chart is starting to, you're starting to figure that out. I think the surprising thing about Cook in the third round here is not so much that he went in the third, but that he went ahead of Joe Mixon. I think, you know, Joe Mixon had been going ahead of Cook in just about every draft, but news lately with Geo being healthy, with Jeremy Hill may being, you know, he may be a threat on the goal line, and then Cook.

he's impressing coaches. Latavis Murray can't get on the field. I think you're going to see more of this. Yeah. As of right now, I agree with this. I would take Cook over Mix. I had that question from a Footclam member this morning. And I pretty much said that if I was in a larger Keeper League or Dynasty, I'm still taking Mixon. Yes. But in a redraft format, I would take Cook as of today. Would you take McCaffrey in a redraft or Mixing? Mixing.

Because I lean McCaffrey. I think I would take McCaffrey. Especially if we're talking in a standard league. Oh, well, yeah, you're right about that. In a standard league, I probably would go mixing. That's another thing that's weird to me of Ty Montgomery being in the third round in a standard. You know, he gets a real bump up as a quality pass catching back. And you don't get to take advantage of that in a standard. All right. Let's talk now. Options for us on the board. Lamar Miller, Carlos Hyde, the aforementioned Mixing and McCaffrey.

You also have DeAndre Hopkins, Alan Robinson, Al-Shon Jeffrey, and. Oh, we got some. Oh, breaking news. Uh-oh. Anquan Bolden has signed. Oh, good day. Positive news. Depend, depending. Carlos Hyde in the late third here, I think we're probably in a position where we're taking running back wide receiver again.

To stay balanced? To stay balanced. So if all things are. Now, I mean, Miller and Hyde, you could put both of those guys on your roster and then wait on wide receiver. I know in my rankings, obviously, I'm a Lamar Miller truther to get him as a second running back who's a consistent volume guy in a standard league. I do worry his touchdown opportunities. You know.
