Mike misses the Cardinals collapse at a punk festival

Mike says he spent the weekend at a punk music festival, where spotty service spared him the live Cardinals collapse while messages from the hosts, school friends, and his father exploded his phone.

moment

Level-headed hosts threaten the Chase statue

The hosts sarcastically claim to be above early-season emotion, immediately followed by one wanting to knock down the Chase statue in front of him. Published frames show several desk football figures, but the exact Chase object is identified by dialogue rather than safely resolved visually.

moment

Useful players serve punishment as team butlers

Rather than benching a player and hurting the team, the hosts propose discipline through carrying luggage, taking out garbage, serving as a butler, doing socks, and washing laundry. Direct video confirms no punishment is performed on the show.

moment

Cardinals staff boards Chick-fil-A on the Titanic to the sun

The Cardinals collapse sends everyone—including Kyler and Marv—into the sun. A play that no coach or quarterback can change makes the staff qualified to run a whole Chick-fil-A, while the fandom debate says Arizona natives were born on the Titanic: Jason's side must go down with the ship, and Mike is accused of cowardly future bandwagoning before Tampa Bay is selected as a second team.

moment

Rippin' Farts and Beef Brisket return to the menu

The sight of Brett Rypien on a depth chart immediately revives Brett Rippin' Farts. Minutes later Jacoby Brissett becomes Jacoby Beef Brisket after the hosts ask where the beef is.

moment

Skattebo finds the crayon-eater sport

After Cam Skattebo pancakes a lineman, the hosts say something is wrong with him in the best way, call him a crayon eater who found his sport, and add that he definitely ate paint chips as a child.

moment

Papa Josh answers the trade audit and Kyle fills the document

Papa Josh audibly confirms trading Ja'Marr Chase for Quentin Johnston while the camera stays on the hosts. Later Kyle performs a ten-year day-two-running-back lookup and puts the statistic in the shared show document without a producer cutaway.

moment

Mason Taylor travels as a cowardly kitty cat

Mason Taylor's twelve targets trigger meows and 'disgusting, cowardly kitty cat points.' Because the Jets play in London, the hosts imagine his pet-transport requirements: certificates, rabies proof, Benadryl, quarantine, and the climate-controlled luggage compartment.

moment

Full Stream Ahead arrives by published train

The waiver block ends with the recurring Full Stream Ahead cue. Direct video audit confirms animated tracks, the hosts riding a train through smoke, and a Full Stream Ahead monitor graphic when the desk returns.

summary

Episode notes

All three hosts are at the desk. Mike reports missing the Cardinals game while attending a weekend punk festival with unreliable service and an exploding phone. The show's claim to emotional level-headedness immediately collapses when a host wants to knock down the Chase statue in front of him; direct published frames show several football figures on the desk but do not safely isolate which one is Chase, so that identification remains dialogue-based. The hosts reject benching useful players as discipline and instead imagine luggage duty, garbage, butler service, socks, and laundry; direct video shows this is talk at the desk, not an enacted punishment. Arizona's loss sends everyone into the sun, turns the Cardinals staff into a Chick-fil-A crew that cannot change a doomed play, and revives the hosts' fandom as a Titanic: Jason and another loyalist insist they must go down with the ship while Mike is accused of cowardly future bandwagoning and nominates Tampa Bay as a second team. Brett Rippin' Farts returns, Jacoby Brissett becomes Jacoby Beef Brisket, and Cam Skattebo's crayon-eater persona is reinforced. Papa Josh audibly confirms trading Ja'Marr Chase for Quentin Johnston; direct frames remain on the three hosts, so he is an off-camera producer voice. Kyle supplies a day-two-running-back lookup through the show document without a visible cutaway. Mason Taylor becomes a meowing cowardly kitty cat who needs rabies papers, Benadryl, quarantine, and luggage-compartment travel for London. Full Stream Ahead closes under its confirmed published train animation.

The Fantasy Footballers Studio is sponsored by Walmart. Welcome to the Fantasy Footballers Podcast with your hosts Andy Holloway, Jason Moore and Mike Wright. Welcome in. Tuesday, October 7th. Mike Wright, Jason Moore, Andy Holloway. Did I miss anything? When do I get a day off? Dude, I am so happy for you. I feel like I need a day off of this stupid, ridiculous sport.

0:53 ↗

Yeah. So you missed the Cardinals game? You are so lucky. I was at, if you didn't see my tweet, I was at a weekend punk festival, punk music festival. We got punked as well. Yeah. I mean, Sunday, I was able to take in like, you know, on Red Zone most of the morning games. And then we get to the afternoon and my phone is just exploding. I mean, it's you guys. It's my school buddies. It's my father. And I'm like, what is going on? And the service is real spotty. Out where the, so I'm checking in, trying to figure out what's going on.

1:29 ↗

And I'm like, oh, oh, I see this, see this. But then I got to really see it. Yeah. Oh, man. It would have been awesome if like you had seen like 21 to three in the fourth quarter. And then you like just refreshed your phone. It says 22, 21. It was. It was not having to live through it, having a great time while it's going on. The juxtaposition was, guys, I felt great. Welcome back. What a weekend. Yeah. It was good. Happy Tuesday, everybody. Happy Tuesday. We've got a pretty exciting Monday night football game to recap. We got a waiver wire show today.

2:05 ↗

Going to get you up to date on who you need to pick up if there's some big names that, you know, interest these gentlemen in front of me. I will say this. I looked at it this morning. We are five weeks in. There are nine weeks of regular season fantasy football left. That's nearly two thirds of the season. So before you get to playoffs, like most leagues playoffs start in week 15. Yeah. And we're only five weeks in. Yeah. We're one third of the regular season along and people start quitting people. People in leagues, they, you know, they're two and three, let alone, you know, the O and

2:39 ↗

fives. And they're like, oh, well, my season is over. It's done. And that is just not true. We have done this so long and we get so many messages. If I was O and four, O and three, O and five, one and four, and then they make the playoffs and win a championship. Yeah. I mean, you've seen it from just the injuries that have taken place in the first five weeks of the season. Powerhouse teams suddenly aren't powerhouse teams. Mike went into our dynasty league with darn well, a super team. Oh yeah. Beatable burrow and chase stack. Mm-hmm. CD lamb.

3:12 ↗

CD lamb has got no. Oh, goodbye. Derek, Derek Henry. Yeah. Derek Henry. Who's I mean, what is the rest of the season? If you had to set a line on him rest of season finishing inside the top, what? Yeah. What's the line? Tomorrow's show, we are doing a fantasy draft redo of the first two rounds. Oh, so we'll, uh. So we will find out if Derek Henry's in the first two rounds or not. Yeah. I'm guessing probably not. Yeah, he probably, yeah, we'll see. I'll bet he squeaks in there. Does he? Yeah, I mean, we'll find out. Yeah. It'll be exciting.

3:41 ↗

But it is, it's just a good time. There's so much weight put into the first part of the season in terms of the emotional impact. Not that you'd ever witnessed that from this show where we're very level-headed and we kind of just, we're above it. Yeah. We're above it all. As I want to knock down the chase statue in front of me. But yeah, we're not, we're not that far into the season. There's a lot of football left to be played. And really the ability to make the best decisions is more enabled by the data we have now than we had ever, you know, earlier in the season.

4:14 ↗

We have a stream finder tool. We have consistency charts. We have ideas about defenses and kickers and offenses. And, you know, there's just so much more information we have now on how teams are using players. Good and bad, right? Yeah. Emeka Abuka, pretty good. Travion Henderson, lots of questions. Yeah. Maybe better now. Maybe. But. But also maybe just a better laid trap. Could be. You know, that's where we're at. It does feel like every week something happens or it's like. It should be. I see how this is the week. Yeah. I mean, if I told you that Antonio Gibson would tear his ACL and Ramondre would fumble

4:49 ↗

three times, including a goal line fumble, you'd be like Travion scoring 37 points a week. Now, the most recent comments are that they'd like to involve him in the return game. Did you see that? No. Ramondre? No, no, no. No, not Ramondre. Oh, yeah. Hendo was. Yeah. Well, the comments after the entry was like, what do you think about getting Travion Henderson more involved? And he said, yeah, I'd love to get him returned getting in the kick return game. I mean, it was it was there was more cool. Just a second round kick returner. Well, it was the fact that he said they had just had three kick returns that were like

5:23 ↗

one block away from being a huge one. He wants one of those to to to break. He wants to get that going in the return game more. But obviously, that is a big part of the team to them. And it's so important. We it does not matter what we think, what we feel. It really matters what the coaches believe. You know, we might think Ramondre Stevenson is not that guy and has a an issue that will upset Mike Vrabel with fumbling. And clearly he has an issue with fumbling. And clearly it's not upsetting Mike Vrabel. Mike Vrabel gets to decide.

5:54 ↗

I will say this to Mike Vrabel's credit. I think it is astonishingly stupid. When head coaches punish players in a disciplinary fashion to the detriment of your team. Yeah, this happened like Jordan Addison missing the first quarter. Yes, they pulled the game out barely with 25 seconds left to go. How? With Jordan Addison. But you take him off the field for a quarter. That doesn't help your that doesn't help your ball club. I thought this was actually quite ridiculous with Indianapolis. It's an inexcusable mistake. You can say with Adonai Mitchell. Also, the play Addonai Mitchell made was unbelievable. It was such an outrageously good play.

6:33 ↗

If you think this player can help you win. Yeah. Discipline them some other way. Make them carry your luggage. I don't care. Fine them. Dude, that would be great. If they can help you win. It's just labor. Like your punishment. We're not fining you. We're not sitting you. We're not benching you. But you take out the garbage now. Yeah, you're my butler for a week. Yeah, you literally around the team facility, you're doing the socks. You do the laundry now. Because where do you draw the line? Like Jordan Addison, him not being out on the field in the first quarter almost cost him a ball game in my opinion.

7:05 ↗

So it's like. It didn't help. It certainly didn't help. And then he won the game for him. It's just kind of ridiculous to me when you're punishing all the other players. That's my opinion. You're punishing everybody else on the team. And I understand. So Amari DiMarcato. Do you help the team or hurt the team? It's that. I want him. I just feel like Chick-fil-A is a better place when he works there. Right. Do you know what I mean? He's a good dude. He's a great personality for Chick-fil-A. No, I mean, even DiMarcato. If you thought that he was a difference maker on your team, figure out a different way.

7:38 ↗

I don't know. So players feel like they could be accountable. And Ramondre Stevenson, back to the point, really, really helps the ball club. He just does. He's a much bigger back. He's a better goal line back. He helps. I mean, he helps everybody. Helps the other team sometimes. Did you say everybody? Everybody. Did I say everybody? Everybody. I'm thinking about Chick-fil-A. All right. Rant over. 31 Jacksonville. 28 Kansas City. And one, proud of Jacksonville. Two, would have been really upset if they had lost this game after that. That egregious pass interference call that was a free touchdown for Kansas City.

8:13 ↗

That was the worst call I've seen so far this year. Because it was in, I mean, it was so plainly visible and right leading to an interception. You don't agree? No, no, no. I'm just laughing. And now, which one are you talking about? I'm enjoying it. Are you talking about the one that Trevor Lawrence threw or the one where there was the pick play on the Kansas City touchdown? No. I'm talking about when Trevor Lawrence was at his own 20. Yes. Okay. And then the route he's running and the guy literally truck sticks the receiver. Yeah. And it goes directly to Kansas City.

8:43 ↗

It was just the most... To me, that was like, oh, great. Kansas City's doing it again. Yeah. Now they have lost. You know they're 0-3 in one-score games now. The one-score games. After 11-0 last year. Them and the Cardinals, you know? Both 2-3. One-score games, man. It gets you. Because it overinflates your confidence of how great your team is. Now, I don't know if you were aware, Mike, because you missed, you lucky dog. The Cardinals are the only team in the history of the National Football League to lose on three consecutive game-winning field goals. Good. Nobody's ever seen it. Excellent.

9:16 ↗

The plan is working, guys. The plan is... What is the plan? Yeah. Misery? Everyone into the sun. Kyler, too? Everyone. Marv? Everyone! We didn't get any Mike on yesterday's show. Here's an interesting thing from this game. One, like I said, shout out to Jacksonville. The 4-1. Did you hear the clip of Jonathan Gannon saying that no one liked a particular play call? Yes. Yeah. And they were like, yeah, we just didn't call timeout. Also, I would have just let the play happen. Into the sun, man. I mean, Jonathan Gannon was like... It's crazy. He's like, I didn't like the play call.

9:57 ↗

And then they're like, well, would you ever overwrite him? He goes, no, I don't overwrite him. He's my play caller. It's like, we don't know who's doing this. Yeah. And they also said... We're all trying to find the guy. So, Jason, you were criticizing Kyler yesterday about not checking out. You said other quarterbacks would have checked out. They came out and said verbatim, he had no ability to check out of that play. Yeah. Well, that's smart. No, that's great. There's... Okay. We were all stuck with the play. The quarterback, the play caller, and the head coach. So, we let the defense know what we were doing.

10:27 ↗

We said, hey, guys, we're going to run up the middle. And then we were like, but we can't do anything about it. Nothing could be done. You could run a whole Chick-fil-A with the staff from the Cardinals. That's what you could do. Nothing could be done, guys. All right. Trevor Lawrence threw for a touchdown, ran for two. The last one was the most... The last one was... Hilarious touchdown ever. A double fall down? A double fall down. It was like his shoes were tied together and he still scored. He got stepped on on the snap and then fell down, got up, fell down, got up, and then scored a touchdown.

10:56 ↗

You guys see Chris Jones on that play? Yeah. I don't know if he was hurt or cramped or something. You got to hope so. Chris Jones is standing there doing nothing. He thought the play was over from the jump. I think he really did. I think he thought when Trevor Lawrence fell down, the guys that were near him were going to tackle him. So he didn't do anything. He's just standing straight up. And then it's like as the play happened, like if he had stayed involved, he could have absolutely stopped that play from happening. But he did not. Jason won in our matchup between he and I exclusively by a 44-yard catch by Travis Hunter.

11:30 ↗

That 44-yard catch was the differential in our victory. How do you feel now about the Travis Hunter for Woody Marks trade that we did last week? Bad. I believe if we didn't make that trade. Oh, I win by so many points. Not because I played Travis Hunter. He would have been on my bench. But because I would have played Ja'Cory Kraske-Meritt. Right. In which case, yeah, I would have. I mean, we can't have a show anymore. All right. Patrick Mahomes, though. Like is Mahomes? Mahomes and Matthew Stafford are the two quarterbacks that I'm interested in talking about in terms of like everyone thought they had something with Justin Herbert after one week.

12:11 ↗

He's been actually quite terrible since then. I think yesterday I said on the show, Mike, he's on pace for like 3,600 yards and 21 touchdowns and 17 picks. The offensive line being the culprit there. Yeah, it's a problem. But Mahomes has been very good for fantasy. Matthew Stafford has become very good for fantasy. Both of those guys are really on the radar for me on a waiver show. Yeah, for sure. Or on trade candidates. Yeah, I don't know that Mahomes would be out on waivers. Stafford, we'll talk about him later on this episode. But the secret sauce with Mahomes is the rushing.

12:44 ↗

I mean, he has been he has three games this year where he basically has 60 rushing yards. That is an outrageous number. And I worry that when Rushy Rice comes back, like that goes away a little bit because right now it's like he doesn't really have anyone to throw the ball to. I feel like it's more a result of the running game being so bad. Maybe. I mean, I feel like he's their leading rusher on the season. You know this? Yeah, he's on pace for 650 rushing yards, something right around there. Taequann Thornton, three for 90. Travis Kelsey, seven for 61 and a touchdown.

13:18 ↗

Xavier Worthy, six for 42. He did play. Brian Thomas, junior, four for 80. Not into the end zone. Travis Hunter, three for 64. It was nice to see. And the touchdown pass was caught by Parker Washington. Britton Strange got hurt in this game. So we got Munt. Johnny. Johnny Munt took over. But that was your Monday night football game. And it was a good one. It was. It was a fun one. All right. Moving on. News and notes from around the league. Presented by Progressive Insurance. All right. Amari and Hampton. This was the big news yesterday. Not good. Placed on IR with an ankle injury.

13:59 ↗

Out at least four weeks. It's a waiver show. Welcome to our weekly backup running back discussion. Mm-hmm. Based on history. You should play all of them. Hampton is quite the roller coaster of the season. You know, came out, looked like he was going to be great. The Najee injury with the eye. And then it was like, okay, so Amari is going to be the guy. And then Najee was active and got really involved. It was like, okay, so Amari is going to really be split. And then Najee got injured. It's like, hey, I've got Amari. And then Amari got injured.

14:31 ↗

It's a wild ride. Well, and they lost two straight games. They don't look great right now. Their offensive line is gone. So Hampton's on IR for at least four weeks. Commander's head coach Dan Quinn said he's optimistic about Terry McLaurin for week six. Okay. So that's good news for the commanders who really, I mean, they just buckled down in that game and shut down the Chargers. It was 10-0. And then all of a sudden it was 27-10. And it was just, it was over. Christian Watson returning or designated to return from injured reserves. Packers. He'll have 21 days to be activated.

15:05 ↗

Honestly, I feel like they really could use him. You know, whether you pick him up now or not, you might, you might have to, because I think people in a lot of leagues will be picking him up. But I would imagine the expectation is he's not going to play for two weeks. Yeah. I would think they'll use more of the 21-day window. It's, I mean, that's, I think that's more interesting for Jordan Love, who has. Yeah, definitely. It's been okay, you know, over the season. But if you put Watson on that team and he can really stretch the field, it becomes very

15:41 ↗

intriguing down the, down the stretch here. I mentioned yesterday, Zach Taylor said they are going to evaluate Jake Browning and whether he's going to start in week six. Jason said he thought he'd start. I, they may not have another choice. It's just the turnovers have been outrageous. I think that there is a line of thinking here at this juncture to sell high on Jamar Chase after last week. It's not that you can't get those games, it's that they won't be reliable. And if Jake Browning stays the quarterback, they won't be reliable. If they change quarterbacks, it could actually get worse.

16:15 ↗

So I think that there is an opportunity potentially to trade Chase away. Yeah, I'm perfectly fine with it. On a double touchdown garbage time game. Starting Jamar, every conversation this year of Jamar Chase is like, well, who would you play over him? And it'll be risky because it's either you'll get just nothingness or you do have the potential for, for like what happens this week because he's Jamar Chase. Yeah. Jake Browning is, this might sound ridiculous, but Jake Browning is awesome for Jamar Chase. I mean, obviously he's not Joe Burrow, but by comparison of if, if they keep losing, which they probably will, they've got a tough schedule the next couple of weeks still.

16:54 ↗

If they make that change, you guys realize who the current backup is on the depth chart? I see it. Oh man. What's Brett ripping farts? Yeah. That will not go well. I don't know what, they're stuck. I mean, Jamar Chase has two weeks this season where he was absolutely dominant, but his three games with Jake Browning, you know, five for 50, five for 23, and then last week six for 110. But the first three quarters of the game were awful. Would you trade Jamar Chase for Devante Adams? Like I said, I would consider trading Jamar Chase. I think I would do it.
