Shady. So coming into our second round, you'll see there is a wide receiver run. In fact, no running backs drafted between the 11th pick all the way down to the 19th pick. So Jake took Antonio Brown with the last pick of the first round, and then he comes right back on the turn and doesn't go running back. He goes, O'Dell Beckham Jr. Antonio Brown and ODB, it's pretty good, pretty good tandem. Okay, but ODB ahead of Des Bryant, ahead of Demarius Thomas, Calvin Johnson.

148 passagesWell, I mean, if he can keep up his pace from last year, there's arguments to be made that he should be the first wide receiver off the board without a doubt. But, you know, I think that that's unrealistic as far as the second half pace. I think he's going to be good. But there's so many more questions over those guys that came behind him. I would definitely not be drafting Odell Beckham ahead of those guys. But this group of guys, this group of, you know, seven...
top end wide receivers. If you have two of any of them, it doesn't matter who. Just get two of those guys and you have an advantage, a positional advantage on your team. So it'll be interesting. We should take a look at how his team finished out and see whether or not it hurt him or helped him at the end. Are we doing that right now? Oh, oh, at the end, okay. Yeah, I completely agree with, there's nothing else for me to say. Are you, uh,
If you end up with those two guys, do you feel okay piecing running back together? No. You're going to have to get lucky on some gold. You're going to have to hit on a rookie. You're going to have to get lucky on that Dallas situation. I mean, you're really going to have to find a handcuff who takes the job and still have them on your roster when it happens. That's what the strategy is. That's the dance that you do when you go.
No running back. Well, Jake, yeah, Jake went zero-rb theory, right? Yep. So that's a strategy out there. A modified version of it. Because his next pick was Mike Evans. Yeah, followed by T.Y. Hilton. So he started with, so I don't mind the first two. I don't like the zero-r-b theory personally. All right, so David ended up with McCoy in the first round. He comes back here after the turn. He ends up at number 14. He takes Des Bryant. It's a solid pick. Yeah, it's a great pick. Then pairing him with Sean McCoy, that's a...
That's a good way to start a team. It's a good start to the draft. The second quarterback comes off the board at number 15 overall. Charles took Andrew Luck. Again, this just pairs Andrew Luck with Marshawn Lynch from the first round. I'll take Andrew Luck at 15 over Aaron Rogers at three. Completely agree. Yeah, I want my quarterback later. Yeah, I agree with the value there, but.
In normal drafts when I'm looking, Aaron Rogers is somebody I'm looking for because I think he's a point separator over everyone else. And I'm talking not keeper or dynasty because otherwise clearly Andrew Luck is the same. But to me, it's pretty much Aaron Rogers to grab that guy or wait on a quarterback for a while. All right, Demarius, Thomas, and Calvin Johnson come off the board next at number 16 and number 17 overall.
fourth and fifth pick of the second round. Both really good values. Calvin Johnson that late is historically is a crazy thing. I don't think it's... It's probably not going to happen in many leagues. No. He'll probably still go in the back of the first round because people want the athletic freak. But he's, for where I have him, that's an appropriate price. So let me ask you this, because I'll compare these two teams. Does Garrett with C.J. Anderson and Demarius Thomas?
Do you like that better than Ben with Calvin Johnson and Forte? Matt Forte.
I would rather have Demarius Thomas and C.J. Even though they're on the same team. That's the one part I don't like, but I'd rather have those guys as far as in my draft because I don't, I mean, we're traders here, you know, not like. I like Benedict Arnold. I like Benedict Arnold. We are trade doors. We love to trade. And I think that that's, you know, how you win championships is the draft and trading and the wire, those three put together. And I think the value of these two guys, I like better than the value of those.
two guys, so I would take them. And how did that theory work out for Antonio Brown and Lev Bell last year? It worked out good. Unless that, the problem I have with that, because we should talk about that, because we talked about that a little bit last week with even, what, like wide receiver tandem? Yeah, stacking receivers. So the math tends to add up, right? Like this happened with New England a long time ago. You could have, you know, the Brady Moss and a running back.
combo. You could have the Aaron Rogers and right now. Would you like a team that has Eddie Lacey, Randall Cobb, Jordy Nelson, and Aaron Rogers? Yes. Would you like the Green Bay Packers? Yes. And that's fine. And the math adds up overall total fantasy points, right? But you get a little bit of what we talk about with quarterbacks sometimes. You know, those quarterbacks that end up at the top of the fantasy list but aren't your best week to week value because when the Packers go to Seattle,
and they don't have the productive offensive game that you're expecting. Or, you know, the Falcons have an off game. Right. And they, or they get two defensive touchdowns to start the game and then they're running the ball the whole game. You know, you have those, you just don't get to mitigate your risk. Yeah, I do. That's the part that scares me on those. I just tend to, I tend to stay away from that unless it's like a motor of an offense that I just know will never let me down. Yeah, I definitely agree with that. If there's a, if there's.
you know, an option that you can go with where they're not on the same teams and you, you know, replacing like player for like player, that's a definite tiebreaker for me. Because I like to spread out the chips a little bit more and be able to win week in week out. But I would still at a draft level, I would take them. Yeah, and I've, you know, made a lot of hay with the Peyton Manning D. Thomas or...
Back in the day. I love pairing a quarterback with wide receiver. Personally, I just like that because it allows you to have those games that you can always come back. If you've got a top quarterback with the top wide receiver, not just generally. Chunks of points coming across. Well, it's a historical known fact. The best kind of Oreo cookies are the double stuff. That's undeniable. And going with the double stuff quarterback to receiver.
is what I like to do. That's how I live my life. You've been a Romo Des guy. Yes. And then Mike will be losing by like what seems like an insurmountable amount of points and then you get that. You get two touchdowns. Yeah, two touchdowns and all of a sudden it's 50 points. Mike did it again. Yeah, I've been a huge Romo Des guy and also Ryan Julio. Who's Ryan Julio? It worked out except for when he broke his foot. Yeah.
In Nick's case, he's the guy who took Julio in the first round. He comes back and takes another wide receiver. In the second round, A.J. Green goes off the board to keep this wide receiver run going. He's the last guy. He's the guy we've said has been a little bit forgotten due to injury last year. I think it's a little bit, it's ironic that Calvin Johnson and A.J. Green ended up back to back here in the second round.
Because they both have some of the mental perception issue. Ah, you know, elite but wasn't elite last year, are they going to bounce back? I'd rather take the sexy guy like ODB or Julio Jones. But AJ Green has every, you know, Jason, you made this point. He's always had Andy Dalton. Yeah. People now, if you're... All of a sudden people are sour. If you're making that argument now... Well, you saw their big signing, right? The Bengals. Oh, yeah. TP. Who? Troll Prior. Oh. Signed.
So upgrade for Mr. A.J. Green? Yeah, big time. Oh, yeah. I read this article or what do they say, prior came out and said, I want to play quarterback or nothing. I'm like, dude. Nothing it is. Yeah, I mean, dude, you're in the NFL. If someone wants you to go run around, go run around. Tebow did the same thing.
And they're both signed right now. People aren't crapping on Tebow for it. Oh, yeah, they did. Julian Edelman came out as a quarterback to be converted. Right. And you know what? He's a world champion. Yeah, I agree. I mean, if you have a chance to be in the NFL and they're saying this isn't going to work, eventually you've got to make the switch. So 1920 and 21 are three absolute steals in this draft. Three running backs off the board. 19. I took Arian Foster, who's my...
What, my list, my last check on my rankings was number two? Two. Number two overall. It might be number one now after the Love Bell suspension. Oh my goodness. Can you believe that? Arian Foster number one, wow. It's like it's 2012. Yeah, or last year, you know, when he was healthy. Jeremy Hill went number 20 to Coobbs. Yeah, Coobes stole him from right out from underneath. I saw him falling. My mouth was elevated. That's insane. There's no way he was getting back to you. Well, I...
You understand when that happens, the leg starts shaking, the hair starts standing up. You're like, this is happening. And then you just wilt. No. That's one of the worst things, too, about kind of getting ahead of it in the offseason is you see guys' values start to creep up in everybody else. It's the lag. You know what I mean? You got your eyes on him, and you're like, no one else pay attention to him now because I'm going to get him. And then, you know, the Jeremy Hill thing, we talked to Adam Azer from CBS, and he's got him up high too.
But if he's a top five guy and he goes number 20 overall, wow. Jeremy Hill. Jason, you've got so much to say on Jeremy Hill. Well, I mean, are you falling asleep? I'm here. Good. Thank you. DeMarco Murray. DeMarco Murray goes next. He's the forgotten running back. Yeah. Is it fear? Fear of the unknown? Well, fear of the workload, fear of the workload catching up with him and then splitting time with Ryan Matthews.
I'm still extremely high on DeMarco Murray in that offense, him going that low in the second. It's like old school Murray, where he would always drop and be super productive.
Until he got hurt. Yeah, I was going to say, wouldn't finish the year or that great because he's not finishing the year. DeMarco Murray is a guy that you're not going to be able to trust his ADP. Because if you look at his ADP, people are really high on him or really low on him. He'll go really late in drafts and really early in drafts. If you pull up his ADP and it says, okay, he goes, you know, the second pick of the second round. That's not where he's going in your draft.
You know, wherever he is, there you need to look at his range and see how early people are taking him or how late. Yes. Because for, yeah, you got your one this episode. No, that's a great point because if you want to Marco Murray, what that means is don't bet on the value slot, go get him. You want him, go get him. You were asking about the LaShawn McCoy pick, pick 11. I would have taken to Marco Murray there.
I'm very... He belongs in the first round. He belongs in the first round. I would take him there, absolutely. Okay, so Mark Ingram, Alshan, Jeffrey, and Lamar Miller finish out the round. I guess we'll talk about Ingram and Jeffrey first, and then Mike... Oh, Jeffrey is Jason's pick, so... Yeah. Mark Ingram goes at 22. Probably the right spot for him. This is right around where I think he belongs. He should have a good year. My interest in Ingram just keeps going on. Growing. Yeah.
The Max Unger effect, the Saints completely selling out to be a run team. Didn't draft another wide receiver. Yeah. Crazy. They got Breezes backup. It's so weird what is happening in New Orleans. But all signs point to Mark Ingram being just a beast. If he can hit, his body holds up. That's what I was going to ask. Do you worry about his health? Do you think that he can handle? He'll be spelled. I mean, he's not getting 400 carries.
He never has. I mean, he's never, they've always worked in all three backs there. You're right, you're right. But I'm taking the opportunity, so him at that late in the second is fabulous. So Jason, you hadn't drafted since Lev Bell, you grab Alshan Jeffrey at 23, happy with yourself?
Yeah, yeah, I think it's good. As far as the running backs that were left, I didn't see any other running back ones that I would be willing to draft this high. Justin Fawcett, I like him. I think he could be a running back one, but value-wise, I just think it's a little too high for where he normally goes. And I would say normally I would take Jordy Nelson ahead of Alshan Jeffrey, but I think right before that I was reading about the hip surgery, which is, you know, no big deal, but I was like, what?
