So we talked about handcuffs, which was ironic because I think our philosophy on handcuffs is, well, I was in line with what we talked about, but we aren't really handcuffed guys, are we? Well, I like, it always depends on the strength of the handcuff, and does that person actually provide you standalone flex value, like a Charles Sims, a Carlos Williams, and there's...

What? Well, no, I was just thinking, I mean, like, you're explaining it very well, but I think we might have somebody that can explain it even better. Oh, did we, did we get him? Yeah, I think, I think maybe this will clear things up for everybody. Let me. Hey, folks, listen, we all know things can get pretty hairy out there in the real world. When my top running back goes down, well, I like to know there's someone that I can count on. That's why I'm diligent in my backup decisions.

I don't want a handcuff. No, sir, folks. I want a handcuff. You won't catch a Ronnie Hillman resting his keister on the end of my bench. Nope. Only the best of the best, like a DeAngelo Williams. So remember, folks, keep your bench right. Keep your bench tight. And only roster the best handcuffs. Keel. So do you understand now?

Is it clear? No, Ronnie Hillman. The mirror, the fog has jumped off of the mirror, and I see what is happening. Pretend Sam Elliott has something to say. And he says, DeAngelo Williams is a handcuff. Ronnie Hillman, handcuff. So our own philosophy, you can continue your thought there. But I just wanted to let people understand the difference. Right. So I like the high value guys. Now, the difference is you have to.

expend a higher pick in your draft. However, when it comes to locking up a backfield situation that I like, like the Tampa Bay backfield or the Buffalo backfield, I don't mind so much that I have to spend a kind of a higher equity draft pick on it because I know that I have a solid backfield then locked up. Do you think that what would you say about the Green Bay situation? Because to me,

James Stark seems like the perfect... Well, first of all, what is he? He's just a handcuff. He's just a handcuff? Yeah. What I like about him, though, is that you do get him later... Right. In the draft. Like, he's that perfect mix where you're not drafting him super early, but you do know. But would you draft, Starks? I would consider it. Or do you wait to spend Fab on him? If I'm the Eddie Lace owner, I would consider it. The problem with him, I think, is... We saw it last year. He was given the chance, man. If it was ever going to happen,

for Starks last year was it, and he just didn't get it done in that starting role. So I think he'll, he's nice in the handcuffed way that if Lacey goes down, at least you have a guy to plug in that you know will get you points. But I don't think he becomes that weak to weak guy that I can throw him in and I'm good to go. Like if I have Charles Sims, my confidence level in Sims, if Martin goes down,

Great. Not great that he went down, but great that I have Charles Sims, who I throw in there, I got a running back too. No problem. Yeah, you be careful what you say about Doug Martin, because he's sitting right next to you now. We've got the fresh Doug Martin. What is the Dreamcicle? Right, the Dreamcicle jerseys. Yeah. Yeah. Look, the waters are rough out here sometimes. Where is Dave Campbell? Is he with the Saints? I believe he is with the Saints, yeah. Bringing those guns to New Orleans. Yeah, the seas are rough sometimes. You can hop on board. We'll take you across. We'll make you understand the difference between a handcuff and a handcuff. All right, let's jump into the news. News and notes from around the league. All right, we don't have a lot. You got to write that time.

What did I do? The drop. Oh, yeah. Well, you know. I was worried for you. We've done over 200 shows. I'm going to miss from time to time. So I got it that time. Not a lot of news. I don't have a number of mediocre wide receiver signings for you, but I do have two bigger pieces of news. Which one do you want to start with, Mike? Let's start with Melvin. I think that's the bigger concrete news.

Melvin Gordon, we knew he had off, or he had surgery. That's why I was going to say off-season, but he had surgery on his knee, and he missed the last couple games. Mysterious surgery. Turns out that was micro fracture surgery, and in my opinion, that is not good. You're talking a guy who relies on agility, who relies on burst, already has issues in front of him when you talk about the offensive line.

And so this still career, zero touchdown. Yeah, there is that. It's just, Melvin Gordon was a guy who I had some faith in, you know, he could bounce back. He was drafted in the first round because the charges really saw something in him. However, you throw in this knee injury. I know he has plenty of time to recover, but that causes even more concerns for me for Gordon.

Jason, I know you have a different take on it, and I'll let you speak to it, but I want to get a couple of the facts out there. The surgery took place in January, and it was microfaxor surgery, and the team has come out and said a four to six month timetable for recovery, which obviously puts him in line to be ready for the season. Jason, how concerned are you with Gordon, and where do you think he drops, or does he drop at all in drafts, and is he somebody you're targeting? He will definitely drop in drafts because of this news. I think...

To an extent rightly so, I am not so much worried about the micro fracture. There's a lot of very bad statistics. If you go out and you just look at the raw numbers, you know, you could see that people under 25 in the last, you know, however many years in the NFL, 80% of them never returned back to the game. But then when you take a look at who those players were and the reason why they were so young is they were not established players in the NFL. And so, yeah, they...

They didn't come back. Their teams didn't need to give them a chance. But mysteriously, come back from micro fracture? Yeah, but mysteriously, older players come back fine. Well, that's just because they have a job and they've established their role. Melvin Gordon was invested with a first round pick last year. They didn't go out and get any running back help this year. So my worry in Melvin Gordon is his talent and the offensive line for the Chargers.

I would not have had Melvin Gordon on my team this year. This news might drop him to me. I would take him, you know, if he's dropping, let's say, to the seventh round, I would be very hard to not take him there. Right now, I think he's going at the very back of the fifth, so that's almost six round. He could end up becoming a value, but I'm not too worried. He's already running right now.

I think that they would have, if they were concerned, if their team doctors were concerned, you wouldn't have seen the offseason you had this off season. Now, ESPN has hinted that the Chargers are now a location of destination locale for Arian Foster. Never mind. There's a San Diego beat writer who's saying that he doesn't expect that to happen, but that's now in the Twitter sphere.
