This episode is brought to you by State Farm. Every football fan is different. Some won't wash their lucky mustard-stained jersey until the season's over. Some insist they can't sit down on third downs and some pick their favorite team because, I don't know, just like football fandom, nobody's life is exactly the same. And that's why State Farm gets to know you, not as a policy number, but as an actual person.

updates, visit loz.com slash footballers. Loz is the new home of Craftsman. Hi, this is Eric Dickinson, NFL Hall of Famer, and you listen to the Fantasy Footballers Podcast. To the Fantasy Footballers Podcast. Coming to you from pristineauction.com studios with your host, Andy Holloway, Jason Moore, and Mike Wright. Welcome in. It's great to be back.

2:07 ↗

Well, two-thirds of us, we're back. Mike and I are here today. Yeah. I'm sorry, all you Jason Truthers out there. He'll be back soon. Hit the bricks! He's actually out of town with the family this week, so Mike and I got it on lockdown. Today we have a dynasty this or that episode. Going to be very scintillating. Who and tantalizing. That right. Something that I'm not sure if people realize what we are doing.

2:37 ↗

For them. Okay. We just explained that the grammatical entrepreneur. Jason Moore. Jason Moore himself is gone. That means that Jay Gris is filling in. I don't know if you guys watched football this past weekend. Ew. So we are literally risking our lives being around a full grown, a full grown cardboard extraordinaire.

3:06 ↗

grizzly bear when his team just pulled the double doink as apparently is being now called. When Collinsworth said that, it's outstanding. Was it, was it Michaels? I thought it was Michaels who called it was double doink. I don't remember. I'm pretty sure it was Michaels. I'm pretty sure it was Collinsworth. We'll have to get to the bottom of this. Yeah. But no, a weekend of Michael's from, do you believe?

3:34 ↗

Miracles to the double doink. The double doink from Cody Parky, a little parting after the fat gift for his former team. Yikes. That's just hard. I mean, losing on a field goal, not easy. Not easy to swallow. And Mitch Trubisky, to his credit. I mean, that was his first 300-yard game since week 10. Makes a humongous throw to Alan Robinson, who balled out, by the way, in this game.

4:03 ↗

Trisky did everything he needed to do to win. Yes. And I will say... Not saying he's perfect or anything. No. But it was awesome to see growth from the player that Jason had proclaimed will never be anything remotely resembling a starting quarterback. But the timeout rule before field goals... Yeah, you want to get this off your chest, huh? I hate it so much. I'm all about...

4:31 ↗

icing the kick or freeze him make him think about what he's got to do but this BS where you can wait until literally right before they snap the ball and then call it I know there's people on both sides of the argument like oh well you get to you get the practice kick like Parky he drilled the the practice kick with no problem at all I just think it's it's Bush League and there needs to be how do you change it do you make a rule exclusive to

5:00 ↗

Field goals then? Because on all other plays, you can call a timeout right up to the time the ball snapped. I think that there needs to be just a ref, similar to the way they stop a play from happening, you know, like until all the refs are set up. Right. You can't snap the ball yet, even though everyone's ready to go, you cannot snap it. So the back judge or somebody just needs to have a hand up.

5:22 ↗

And then put it down when you can't call a time out anymore. As soon as the hand is down, you can no longer call a timeout. This play is going to happen. I think that's a pretty good way to do it. It's just, it's a hokey rule. It's gross. It doesn't work better one way or the other. Sometimes it works for you. Sometimes it works against you. I'm with you. But at the end of the day, Nick Foll's got it done. So we'll review some of that in the news and notes today. You can find us on Twitter at the FF Ballers. Make sure you follow us over on Instagram. Instagram.com slash fantasy footballers. And then we're on YouTube.

5:52 ↗

The website is the fantasy footballers.com. Lots going on. And then on Thursday this week, we're doing something kind of special, kind of unique. It's end of the season. Into the season. Your fantasy leagues are over unless you're playing DFS in the playoffs or some sort of playoff league. And obviously we spend a lot of our time talking through the truth of what happened over the course of the season, helping you remember the things maybe you forgot, put some things in your mind as we head into the draft season and get you ready for next year.

6:19 ↗

But on Thursday, we're going to do something kind of special. We'll take care of any news that's going on and we'll talk through some things on the quick question. But we're going to do an AMA. That's an ask me anything. So we're going to ask the Foot Clan to send in any question they have at all. I mean, as personal as you want to get. Okay? You ready for that, Mike? Sure. Are they ready? Are they ready for the end? That's what I tell my wife, don't ask a question.

6:48 ↗

That you don't want to hear the answer to. That's right. So anything about the show, anything about us, anything about the history of the show, pretty much, I mean, literally. Waste size? Where are you at? Where are you out right now, Mike? Honestly, I don't know. You don't know your waist? Probably, I'm not going to answer now. Maybe that's one of the questions for the AMA. You don't want to spoil it? No. What an incredible teaser. Show up Thursday and find out Mike's waist size. 36? 36, man. Probably. Yeah.

7:18 ↗

Probably, Mr. Four Baskets of fries. Yeah, that's a whole other. I took the reins from Jason at lunch today. I went, you know, devil on your shoulder. Yeah. Angel on your shoulder. Went to Red Robin. Got this. The problem is Angel love French fries. The low calorie salmon surrounded by four baskets of French fries with ranch. The old Mitch Hedberg joke about how you should be able to eat junk food with a carrot.

7:47 ↗

Oh, and have it cancel out. When it gets in your stomach the carrot, it's like, hey, it's cool. He's with me. Yes, I agree. All right, let's go ahead and jump into the news. News and notes from around the league. Presented my sleeper. All right. What are some general thoughts, Mike, that you have on Wild Card Weekend? We've got some stats for you, okay? Of the eight starting quarterbacks. These are all, the three of these are actually gnarly for Wild Card Weekend.

8:21 ↗

Of the eight starting quarterbacks, Mitch Trubisky, was the only one to top 300 passing yard with 303. There were 10 total passing touchdowns on Wildcard Weekend, and nobody threw more than two. And here's the big one. No team scored more than 24 points. Props to the Dallas Cowboys for leading the way. The Dallas Cowboys.

8:46 ↗

One, congratulations for winning a playoff game too. Yes. The highest scoring team of the weekend. So let me ask you a question. It's amazing. Because we love offense as fans, right? Chiefs, Rams, Saints. This is exciting. And then there were these two teams, the Ravens and the Bears, that won with defense. And those teams went home on a weekend in which only 24 points.

9:14 ↗

was scored by the highest scoring team in which it was a defensive weekend, but the Colts defense showed up, right? The Chargers defense showed up. The Eagles defense showed up. Well, here's the problem. It goes back to the old ad is that defense travels, right? Right. But apparently it doesn't. Well, the Ravens and the Bears, I mean, they were at home. So their defense was out. Defense travels in the playoffs. I like that. The Colts, congratulations.

9:43 ↗

Cowboys, Chargers, and Eagles with the Wild Card Weekend victories. Cody Parky, as we said, with the double doink on the 43-yarder, the Bears' great season, 12 and 4. By the way, bright future, if you are a Bears fan. You hear that, Jay? He doesn't care. Certainly the future is bright. The ball was tipped. Yeah, it was. It was. Just in case people had not actually heard that. Properly tipped into two uprights. Yes.

10:13 ↗

Trey Burton was a surprise add to the injury report on Saturday. Came out of nowhere. My groin. The groin. The groin will get you. Not, you know, whatever the opposite of Allen Robinson is, that's what Josh Adams was. One rush, two yards. They didn't really get the running game going. We'll see what happens next week. Only four offensive touches for Tariq Cohen. Yeah, that doesn't make a lot of sense. That was absolutely bananas, considering how.

10:39 ↗

ineffective Jordan Howard was, and you knew going into the game, Fletcher Cox is back for the Philadelphia Eagles, and since he had been back, they had been absolutely just wiping out and shutting down the run. How do you not get more touches for Tareke Cohen? It was absolutely ridiculous. Hot Lockett had himself a monster game, and then a mild bit of news from that Cowboys game. Alan Hearns, if you saw it,

11:07 ↗

gnarly rough injury yeah absolutely rough for alan hernes he is expected to be ready by the return of football in august so that's great news for the man hernes uh but that injury man hey no it's not good hey and if you're playing along with us over at the foot clan challenge so that that would be the NFL playoff challenge well by the way we did it we are the second largest group

11:35 ↗

Over at the NFL playoffs. The only one larger would be the default NFL. I think they put everybody in. Yeah. So good work. And a shout out to the listener who's currently winning, who's Carryon Bonson. All right. That's their name. And here's who they have. Carry on Bonds. I don't know why that's so funny to me, but it is. It's funny. Andrew Luck, Jordan, Ezekiela, Alan Robinson, Tyler Lockett, Eric Ebron, Mike Badgeley, Chicago Bears.

12:06 ↗

So this is... Carryon Bonson is not going to win this thing. Probably not. So I'm sorry, Carion. How's your team doing? My team is... My team has zero points. Well, so you took all by week guys? I took all by week guys. My team was 100% chiefs, but I also had two Chicago bears. Oh, that's unfortunate. So Alan Robinson got me a lot of points, but now I'd get no 2x multiplier. No, I have Mahomes, Gurley, Camara, Thomas, Tyreek.

12:33 ↗

Kelsey, Lutz, and the Saints. If the Saints or the Chiefs go out, I don't have a shot. Big news. As a Cardinal fan, I'm kind of sad. But Bruce Ariens is likely to be named the next head coach of the Buccaneers could be today when this is being released because we did this the day before. And Bruce Ariens were turning to coaching from the booth. Look, in Arizona, we loved him. He was a great coach. We need that instant fantasy reaction. Bruce Ariens.

13:03 ↗

Goes deep. James Winston and Mike Evans. It's great news for Chris Godwin. Look, you could paint 100 pictures of what James Winston's offseason looks like. It's as good as it gets. Sorry, Jack Nicholson. Isn't that the Helen Hunt movie, too? Is that? Brooks, can you confirm that? Is that correct? Yeah, I know you're a big Helen Hunt guy. Yeah, I think that's right, guys. Fair enough. Look, the big question for me is,

13:31 ↗

Look, James. Chris Godwin. James Evans and Chris Godwin, that's very exciting. O.J. Howard. O.J. Howard is the biggest question mark because he was ascending. I was ready to have him. Hasn't Aaron has traditionally been a non-tight-in guy? Yes. And that's, that's the problem. That's the problem is, will the offensive scheme overcome James Winston's propensity to target the tight end position heavily? O.J. Howard.

13:59 ↗

was on the direct precipice of a massive breakout this year before he went on to the IR. You would hope that Ariens will not get in the way, but it is worth monitoring. Yeah, certainly. It's exciting for James Winston's future, though. Ariens is just, he's a vertical passing guy. He's not going, he's going to be a players coach, which is what we said three or four episodes ago about Winston. You need somebody in his corner. You know, you need somebody in his corner. So ESPN's Chris Mortensen reporting that.
