Starts of the Week, Wk 2 Matchups, Boils + Beasles

Lions, I talked about how they were destroyed by the Jets rookie cornerback, Sam Darnold, who we have been, we've been advised that we may need to refer to him as Darnold Schwarzenegger. It's under consideration. So I'm throwing that out. Yeah. Fookland, let me know. Do we latch onto that one? Stay strong, Sam. Do we latch on it or not? Catch the ball. It's a bomb. Get down.

Why would you get to? You don't want him to get down. I'll go deep down. It's the bomb you in the end. Jimmy Garoppolo is a fantastic start this week. Okay. Jimmy Hansom. Jason, who's your start of the week at the quarterback position? Yeah. Is it Darnold Schwarzenegger? It's not Donald Schwarzenegger. I'm going to wait.

several, several weeks. Who's your daddy? Maybe a season before it's, it's Darnold as a start of the week. He's, he's more of a streamer. My start of the week this week is very safe. I'm going safe with Alex Smith. I think that the floor of Alex Smith this week. He is the, he is the fire extinguisher for your building. He is, uh, don't stick me with Alex. He's a quarterback one this week. I mean, I agree with you. There's just, he is rushing.

floor is high. And the matchups, the thing is with this specific matchup, it's so perfect for what Alex Smith does, his tools, his weapons. I'm stacking him with another player. We'll talk about in a second. So I'll get into more specifics on the stats. Jordan Reed is going to be fantastic. The weapons, the Colts defense is not going to be able to stop this offense at all. And it's going to be.

Alex Smith going out there rushing for 30 yards, passing for 250, two touchdowns. And at the end of the week, you're going to go, man, I should have just started Alex Smith. He's so safe. This other guy looked like a great big blow-up opportunity, but he was risky. Alex Smith or Pat Mahomes? Yeah, that's a perfect matchup. And that, my answer to that would be dependent upon the team I'm playing. If I'm playing a juggernaut, then I would go Pat Mahomes because I think there's a chance Pat Mahomes has 350 yards.

Three touchdowns and two interceptions. But if I have a good roster, I look like I'm, you know, near even or favored in my matchup. I'd much rather have Alex Smith in that situation. It's a good context for that decision. I've also made a decision. Oh, there's, there's no way we're possibly dropping Darnel Schwarzenegger getting to do all the.

ridiculous impressions. It's not really up for debate. No end. No need to weigh in. Just to make pictures. We are adding it to the... Adding it to the lexicon. All right. Jason, why don't you just start up with your running back? Awesome. You're going to tie him together. I love... If you have Chris Thompson, don't be an idiot. Start him.

Okay. Because Chris Thompson is one of those players that is very often searched. Who should I start? Chris Thompson or Blank. Chris Thompson or Blank. Because it never feels. Yeah, I mean. It never feels cozy. 11 touches doesn't feel cozy. Right. But those touches go for a lot of yards. Exactly. Chris Thompson leads the league in both yards per reception and yards after contact on reception. Guess who's. And yards poured out.

Guess who is the worst at those two categories since the beginning of last season? Defensively. It's the Colts. Oh, you don't say. This is a matchup made in heaven. How Chris Thompson, when they get around the 20s, doesn't have a little 15-yard dump off screen pass touchdown to this specific defense. It's just a guy, I mean. Let's make room for two in that heaven. I've got Adrian Peterson against the same Colts as my start of the week. Mixing just destroyed them.

I'm going to stay in the flames because the defense is getting burned. And Peterson's rejuvenated. The line is great. It's early in the season. I'm going to combo him with Chris Thompson. Jason, would you start either one? Not only would I start either one. Would you start both together? If I had these two guys, I'd be fine. This is, you know, sometimes when you had the Tevin Coleman-Devanta Freeman situation, we would recommend, hey, you can, even on one roster, you can start both. You can start both these guys. Yeah, I'm with you. All right. I'm taking a risk here.

I can see that. I'm taking a risk because this man is firmly entrenched in an RBBC, a heavy RBBC. But I firmly believe in Royce Freeman. Denver Bronco is running back this week. He gets, he's at home. It projects to be a very positive game script for what he can do because they are taking on the Oakland Raiders who were just gobbled alive by Todd Gurley. Granted Gurley does that to a lot of teams, but.

It was a very strong performance for Gurley, very poor on the rushing defensive side of the ball. This game in Denver? Yes. Yeah, I like that. So in Brad Evans, good friend of the show, he tweeted out this past week, Royce Freeman was against eight plus man fronts over 66% of the time. That is an outrageous number. An outrageous number to face a stacked box. And yet...

He still ran 15 times for 71 carries. I talked about on Monday how Seattle knew what they were going to do at the end of the game. And they couldn't stop Royce Freeman. Strong opportunity for a touchdown because we were disappointed in week one, but 15 for 71 with a touchdown, you're extremely happy with that fantasy performance. Not to hijack the start of the week, but do you feel because of those reasons that you can also flex to Philip Lindsay in this game or no? Yeah, I'd be willing to.

But you feel real confident in Royce Freeman. Yes. You know, one of the interesting things about Philip Lindsay, you talk about the game is at home. I am curious to see if the utilization changes home and road. As stupid as this sounds, when I went back and watched all the replays and was researching Lindsay more from this last week, I realized what a Denver. Like I did not really have an intimate knowledge of Philip Lindsay's background until this week. And he is a Denver guy.

He grew up there. He was... Oh, he got that hometown boost. From eighth grade, he got in the Denver Broncos Future Star program and was played college in Colorado. I mean... Well, he's undrafted, too, right? Undrafted. He's just a local guy that... He just decided, I'm only going to play for one team. I'm not going to get drafted. I'm going to go be a undrafted free agent. And so it was one of those things where it's like, you know, hometown crowd, hometown get up. I want to see...

How do they use him and how does he perform when he's out of time? It will be a very interesting week, too, for Philip Lindsay. Yes, it will. And his potential. At the tight-in, I'm going with Ricky Seals Jones. Oh, I'm going part two here. Look, I know people were disappointed last week, but you've heard us talk all week about how bad the tight-in situation was, and I don't think you need to get pushed away. 92% of snaps. The Rams got absolutely cooked last week.

180 yards at the tight-in position. Pun intended. Jason pumped the brakes on Larry Fitzgerald. And the, you know, Sam Bradford, I listened to an interview him this morning, an interview with him this morning. And he was talking about his inaccuracy last week. And it was all built around the fact that he said, look, you're inaccurate when you don't know where to go with the ball. And he didn't know where to go with the ball all the time. There's a lack of confidence in his receiving core. Chad Williams, Christian Kirk, the youngsters. The one person that you saw him have a rapport with in preseason was Ricky Seals Jones.

And the opportunity for them, look, this is a 12-and-half point game. You might be throwing the ball from the second quarter on. Yeah. I think there's just a volume, like even the dump-off game in the second half of the season or in the second half of the game. I think Ricky Seals-Jones is a guaranteed tight-in four through six this week. Ooh, I do. That's hot. So the start of the week. That's fire. There you go. All right. I'm coming with two. Oh, no. I'm coming with a rhyme.

Oh, no. Because I felt like... If they rhyme, you can have two. That's the rule. Well, and I want to give a real actionable start of the week. And this is a player that some people have and they want confidence in him. And that is Jack Doyle. Baby hands. Baby hands. I still have confidence in Jack Doyle, especially if you're talking, the Doyle-Ebron split. He was out there far.

far more running way more routes than Eric Ebron. I know Ebron got the touchdown because the defender completely fell asleep. But he was still 10 targets this past weekend. Seven for 60. It could have been more except for his little bitty baby hands where he fumbled on the possible game winning drive. They're just so small. They are. I mean, this is the problem. They're like baby Josh's. Yeah, a little, little bitty baby hands. But I actually like him. The matchup is great. Taking on Washington, the reason.

We liked RSJ last week because Washington is porous against the tight end position. But I wanted to call my shot here. I'm bringing this stack. Doyle and Boyle. Wow. Because I'm just calling the shot on Nick Boyle, tied in for the Baltimore Ravens. The Bengals just gave up over 100 yards. Tonight's game. Yeah, to Jack Doyle and company. Boyle was three for 40 this past week. I think he has a great chance of a touchdown. So Boyle goes off tonight.

And the commentators are going, who thought Nick Boyle would be this involved? You want to be, you want credit. You could scream at the TV and go, Mike Wright. And if he fades into the, into the distance, just don't, don't remember that this happened. Just start Jack Doyle. Can I ask you a quick question, by the way? Is it better to have the Boyles or the Beasles? Ooh.

I would rather have beasels than boils. If you have boils all over your body. They're bigger, right? Yeah, boils have to be bigger. They have to be pop. Just think about the player. Oh, man. You have to pop a boil. Beasles are tiny. Boils are big. Just to be clear. Just to be absolutely perfectly clear. Yeah. You think Boyle might pop tonight. Yes. Okay. Jason, finish up our starts of the week. Look, I'm going with George Kittle. And it's going to be gross if he does. We all saw. Yeah.

Yeah, the kiddle. Get down. This one's got the Kittles pox from. Oh, goodness. Yeah, I mean, we're going to need a ruling from the judge on that one. No, just move on. All right. George Kittle was everybody's favorite waiver wire pickup this week for good reason. Certainly mine. Yes, certainly yours for good reason. His involvement down the field, the routes that he was running. Not every route is created equal. You can have.

10 targets and have a ton of routes and be Ryan Grant where you're basically not going down the field. Or you can be George Kittle, which were gronky and level routes super far down the field. He missed a couple catches that he should have had. The matchup is great. The second most yards after the catch for tight ends this year. That's what I love. He's a yak man. He's also on air yards, man, which is fantastic.

He's a beast. I mean, he was drafted to be this. He's on an offense at home now that should do well. If Goodwin is out, it only bodes heavier in the favor of needing to target Kittle. So I think anybody that picked up George Kittle this week, and maybe they picked them up as a stash because they thought he was good enough, but they've got a good tight-in. I think you can start Kittle. Yeah.

Look, the Lions are the second worst team in the NFL in giving up yards after the catch of the tight-in position, and Kittle does it well. I'm all about it. But more importantly. Jason Moore's Ironclad, locked and loaded, 100% guaranteed boom, boom kicker of the week. Last week's boom boom was a kick in the nuts.
