Fantasy Football 2017 - Week 4 Waivers, QB Streams, Stay Calm

briefly exited within wrist injury last week, limited in practice on Monday. Any concern about time Montgomery? Not for me. Not, no. Enough to sign Jamal Williams. Yeah. I mean, we're getting to the point of the year now. We're three games in with the way that Green Bay has handled things. You can pretty confidently at this point say that Jamal Williams would get the bulk of the work if Montgomery went down. So if you want to start putting your handcuffs on your bench, I'm okay with it.

Somaget P. Ryan diagnosed with a bruised hand, bruised ego, and day-to-day. And bad outlook for, I mean, if you didn't hear or you didn't watch, he fumbled the ball. This is terrible news for his stock. I mean, you know, they don't forget fumbles in Washington. And so definitely need to monitor what's going on with Rob Kelly. The thing that was weird about that is he practiced most of last week.

and it did not play because it's a pain tolerance issue. So he's able to practice. And you could see that same thing happen this week where he practices and you just go, oh, he's practiced two weeks in a row. He's going. But if the pain tolerance still isn't there, he could still miss this coming week. So we'll talk about some deep sleepers there if maybe they move past Samajai as well. And how much will it hurt every day when Gruden walks up to Samaj and he looks him in the eyes like, how's your bruise? Yeah.

I thought you broke your hand. Samaj is going home and he's putting his hand on the workbench and he's taking a hammer and he's going, I need to redo those x-rays. Derek Henry. Come on, Pete Ryan. I believe in you. Derek Henry had a thigh injury in week three. I think he disappointed some owners that week. He should be okay. He'll be able to play in week four. Corey Davis not been ruled out yet for week four. Pay attention to that. I don't know if you'd be starting him anyways. He's another good waiver pickup. He is available on...

you know, probably 25% of leagues. It's always nice. Sometimes those injuries where a guy gets dropped and you forget about him because he's not the one that performed the last week. Those are people to pay attention to on the waiver wire for sure. So let's go ahead and get into the waivers. Put me in, coach. Hello, pop quiz for you. Oh, pop quiz hot shot. What wide receiver rank is Amari Cooper right now? Oh.

Oh, man. I'm going to go. I tried to tell you. 51. Mike? He was okay week one, so I don't think he's down in the 50s. I'm going to go in the 40s. I'm going to 43. 57. Oh. What do I win? Sadness. So here's the real question. We just talked yesterday about always starting your studs, Stefan Diggs, T.Y. Hilton.

What does that say about Amari Cooper? Does that mean he's not a stud? Or does that, I mean, by draft capital, he's 100% supposed to be a stud that you start every week. Now he plays Denver, and he's currently the wide receiver 57, and people are going, uh, the problem with the draft capital is they were drafting the wrong stud from the Oakland Raiders, even though both of them failed miserably on, uh, on Sunday night. A lot of that was Derek Carr and the offensive line related. I would.

still, I was still trying by Amari Cooper low. The schedule is rough coming up though. People aren't going to want to start him this week. I won't blame you. If you take him off of an owner's hand with, you know, just a startable asset. And even if you're not going to start Amari this week, just to hold on to him, you do continue to start him. This is no different than what you've seen from Amari Cooper his career so far. He has giant explosive games and disappears. And what you can't do with guys like that is you can't bench them.

based on what they did last week. Now, obviously the matchup can help determine some of that, but you're going to miss these giant blow-up games if you are reactionary like that. Blackjack's calling him out, though. Yeah, I love that. He's calling him out on the drops. Well, I was going to say his rookie season, he struggled with drops tremendously. Seemed to fix it in a sophomore year and then six so far this year. So it's like it's in his head again. Six so far, including, I mean, just a brutal one right in the middle of the field. You cannot be a number one receiver and do stuff like that.

And so I don't usually worry about drops because it means a guy got open. It means he was targeted. But it's in his head at this point. It's at such a rate that it's affecting his fantasy production clearly. And you worry, he's the next time he gets a wide open. No, he's not. But he's concerned about whether he's going to catch the next ball coming to him. And it's getting in the way of him catching that ball. I got to be honest with you, this week's waiver wire seems like a B movie. There's just no.

There's not a headliner to me. There are many guys to talk about, and you're in a position now where, look, tomorrow's show, we're going to do Keep Trade Cut with a number of players and talk through some of that. But I don't know, like Devin Funches. It's Depth Week. It's Depth Week. Devin Funches, Alan Hearns? But here's the thing. Marquis Lee, how do you decide between those Jags? Next week, Falcons, Broncos, Saints, Washington, they're on by. So you got to start looking at the by weeks because they are coming, and that's.

So a depth chart or a depth week, it's a little bit of medicine for that bench. And Jason, what were you saying about waivers earlier? Right before the show you were talking about something. Yeah, so we're to the point now where you're going to hear a lot of names. Maybe you've heard last week or the week before because they're still out there and there's still the guys to grab. But as we come further into the season, more guys are grabbed. We also will go a little deeper and name some guys that.

There's going to have to be a whole range here because sometimes people are like, why are you talking about him? He's owned in most leagues. But there's a lot of leagues where people grab these guys and they win championships because of it. We have to make sure we mention that. But we're also going to talk about some of the deeper guys like a Mac Brown that will be available everywhere and is really sneaky. Might not work out. But if you are in a deeper league where there's more competition, you got to dig deep on those waivers. I'm going to.

I think we're doing it this way today. I'm going to read off some of the names in consideration. I want to know who you think the best. Each of you, who's the best guy to start this upcoming week? And then who's the best guy to pick up for more of a long-term outlook? So Devin Funches, Alan Hearns, Marquis Lee. You got Geron-Moyalison with the big week. You had Bruce Ellington come through for 459 and 1. And then you had Josh Doxon, Paul Richardson, Tyler Lockett, Sterling Shepard. That's a lot of names, man. Kenny Britt. No, I understand. I'm throwing those names out there, but...

I'm not sure every single one of them is worthy of a long discussion. So I want to know who your kind of headliners are. My headliner right now is Marquis Lee. Really? Between him and Alan Hearns. I would much rather have Hurons. I'm much rather have Marquis Lee. Yeah, I'm I have shifted. I was 50-50 and I'm definitely on the Marquis Lee side. His utilization, the way that he's targeted, the way he's looked at, he was used in the red zone. You know, I would rather have that volume play where...

He's not going to crap my team or have to have a touchdown to get it done. He still can't get the touchdowns. I agree Alan Hearns is probably a better red zone threat for sure. But Marquis Lee is going to be their number one wide receiver. That's what it showed to me in the first game without Alan Robinson. I want a number one wide receiver. He would be my wide receiver, Dejure. Okay. Mike, who's your wide receiver du jour? I'll throw out Sterling Shepherd as the dejure.

I mean, the guy is seeing pretty solid volume, 10 targets. I know he had the big play that really put him over the top for this week's fantasy production. But he's an excellent player. I'm getting two fingers pointed at me from Andrew Rollaway. One name not on this list is Brandon Marshall. But if somebody gave up a brand of Marshall is worth picking up as well. If he gave up, people gave up on Marshall after the first couple weeks, had eight receptions this week for 66 yards. So it was a limited depth per target. But.

Shepard or Marshall, who would you rather roster right now? I would rather have Shepard at this point, but Brandon Marshall is, he's a fine pickup and people have thrown him away. I mean, the touchdown upside. The reason I want Alan Hearns over Marquise Lee is the number one receiver for the Jaguars does not excite me at all. But a guy who can give you big plays from that offense, that's the player I would want.

All right. Kenny Britt, I think, is at the top of my list, embarrassingly. It's a good point. A ton of targets this past week. First touchdown is a brown. Their situation necessitates not only the utilization of Kenny Britt, but Kaiser is still, I believe, second or third in the league in terms of downfield throws. Look, if you've got to take a shot with somebody there, give me targets and big play capability down the field on a bigger body receiver. And I'm not signing Geronimo Allison.

Not doing it. Oh, I think. If Randall Cobb is going to miss time, then Geronimo is absolutely worth a pickup to me. Yeah, I agree with that. If Randall's out, I would, I think Geronimo is a fine start. All right. Is there anybody else at the wide receiver position before we move on? Paul Richardson, to me, you've got to monitor what's going on with Doug Baldwin. Yeah, and they say he's day to day. He could be all right. But if he sits this week, I think Paul Richardson's going to be a really strong play. He's looked good so far.

he would be in consideration. Richardson or Lockett? I think I would go, Paul. I would take Lockett just because he's not dealing with a hand injury. Okay. If you can force feed a guy, it would seem like Lockett would be the guy. And then I'll just throw out Josh Doxon again. This is an absolute speculation ad. But let's say you're 3 and O. You're cruising. Your team is super strong. You don't want one of these lower level guys. Just clogging up your bench. Josh Doxon is elevating. I mean, his.

Elevent and catching touchdowns too, but his snaps are going up. Terrell Pryor has been a pretty big bust for them, and Jameson Crowder is who he is. So I think that Doxon's worth picking up.
