For the second time in my life, I'm guilty of committing a crime, being horrifically ill-prepared for my fantasy football draft. Because I doubt my leaguemates mind in my team finishing 3 and 10, her name the ridicule of not just my friends and family, but of every man, woman, and child I've ever encountered. But this season, I find I'm so excited I can barely still hold a thought in my head.
I think it's the excitement. Only a future hashtag foot clan champion can feel. A future champ at the start of a long journey, whose conclusion is dispersing a wide range of insults upon my commitments. Things like, you're one pathetic loser. Or you must be a major disappointment to your parents. Or my personal favorite, you suck.
You know who's going to be the toilet ball champion this year? Not me. Not me. To join me on this journey, hit to www.Otrapkid.com. I hope to see you there. To the Fantasy Footballers Podcast with your host, Andy Holloway, Jason Moore, and Mike Wright. Welcome in.
Welcome into the show, one and all. It's the fantasy footballers. Jason Moore is here. Howdy. Or as I call him, bald Jason. Bald Jason. Mike, the fantasy hitman in the building as well. Giving you the finger guns. Yeah, baby. It's a Friday. I'm Andy Holloway. We've got the deucers in the house. And, well, we've got a lot more than that. We have a mock draft on this show today. Not just any mock draft.
a mayhem mock draft on today's episode. It's going to get you. And we got a new mayhem for the draft today. So if you've never been a part of one of these or watched one of these, you're going to have a good time. We have the writing staff and the deucers in the draft as well. We will get into that soon. But first.
A lot's going on. We've got one week away until our Megalus show. So shout out to the Foot Clan and all the people attending our live Megalus show in Phoenix at the Van Buren. It will be next Friday. Here's something cool. It will be a bonus episode of the show that will go live on Saturday. Bonus. So you will get an extra episode next week. Not just five days a week. That was not enough for us.
We've got the Megalus show, which will go out on Saturday, so you'll be able to watch it if you're not there. The Fantasy Footballers Live Megalus show presented by Series XM and sponsored by GMC and PetSmart at the Van Buren. Ballers Live.com, if you're in the Phoenix area, I believe there are a handful of tickets available for you to jump in there. I think a couple mezzanine seats might be there for you to come and watch the show. Yeah, I saw there were like five new mezzanine seats opened up.
that we must have released. So, cool. Were we hiding those tickets somewhere? I don't know. I was, the paper tickets someplace. The Mez was also sold out and then a couple popped up. Okay. So we don't even know why. No idea. But ballerslive.com. This was yesterday. I don't know. Ultimately, this is just so fun to, you know, whether you're going to be there or are you going to watch it on Saturday. This is like the launching of the season. This is like a huge event. We've got bold predictions on that show.
We've got some special stuff for people in attendance. A lot of free swag we're going to give away. And so we're just super excited to see you there. I think we're up over 6,000, 7,000 so far for the Megalobole. Oh, there's so much mega going on. It's getting more mega by the minute. Oh, mega minute. Well, yeah, that's like from the Megala show to the Megalabole. Yeah. If you want to compete with us and with 20,000 plus fantasy football freaks.
Is that like complimentary? I think it is. Yeah, that's complimentary. Yeah. Yeah. Megalobole.com. That's what you used to see at the circus. The megalabole? No, the freaks. Oh, well, see now. But now it's, I don't think they take. Yeah, that's no. You're like, hey, I'm a fantasy football freak. That's fine. You're like, hey, you're a nerd. That's fine. I mean, that was a weird thing because they like opted, they got paid to be the freak. I do believe you would call it exploit it.
But, but, I mean. Work was also hard to come by. Yeah. I mean, unless they were like not, like, did they have to do it no matter what? Some of them probably. I don't know enough circus lore. And I really wish I hadn't gone down that rabbit hole in particular. Look, I mean, if you trust the greatest showman, everything's super cool. Don't even worry about it. We cannot start that conversation because nobody hates that more than you. Um.
We do have a winner for our Bijan Robinson giveaway. The signed jersey, Sean Jackson will be in touch, sending out that autographed jersey. That's heading your way. I think that's where I'll cut it off for the start of the show. We got so much to get to. I mean, I don't want to just talk about every, I mean, there's just so much going on. We also had preseason, by the way, but we'll talk about that in the news, I guess.
Our quick question of the day, let's jump in here. Matt writing in, do you have time limits per pick when you do a live draft? I prefer to take my time and enjoy the day, says Matt. What say you? We in our League of Record do not have time limits. There's live, you know, we get together and there's always trading happening nonstop. And so when people are working trades and doing deals, sometimes it gets annoying. I mean, there's certainly moments where it's like,
Okay, already go. And I know back in the day, I remember when we were doing a dynasty start-up draft, again, no time limit. But what we did do is once you hit about two minutes, everyone would just start booing whoever was on the clock until they made their pick. It kind of worked pretty well. But yeah, I mean, these are to have fun. And I think if everybody that's in the league is like cool and trying to do their best,
You know, it's, and you're there and you're live. Like, you're not going to just. Yeah. Take forever. Yeah, I mean, I think we get a small window every year where we get to draft. And we love it. And we might as well savor it. Yep. Sometimes it goes a little long and then then you look, public pressure. You just start applying it. That's it. News and notes from around the league.
All right, did you guys have some takeaways real quick? Maybe a thought or two from the two preseason games yesterday. I mean... I had a couple of things that stood out. It's hard to really know, but it's like Woody Marks looked all right. That which... Oh, he looked better than all right. Well, number one, he changed up the number. And I was like, what? Who's number four? Woody! Oh. And then... Did it make it seem like you lost weight?
Of course. To not be double-digit number. This is the aesthetics of the number. But he looked good so that maybe that's like another like red flag for the David Montgomery pick if Woody Marks actually gets on the field more than you're anticipating. It's like Mike Washington had another. Yeah.
miraculous run where he was just completely bottled up, but he kept the feet chugging. He's really good at football. Uh-oh. Uh-oh. Yeah, I don't. Here's what I don't think Clint Kubiak can do. I don't think he can keep. Oh, thank you, Brooks. Mike Washington running, rookie running back for the Raiders. Yeah. I mean, you should know him by now because you've got two weeks where the highlights. But Clint Kubiak's not going to keep an electric player off the field just because of some.
stupid loyalty. He doesn't keep an electric player on the field sometimes. So, I mean, to me, it's like Mike Washington is probably not a humongous threat to Gentie, but you should put that guy on the field if he has the potential for those kind of big plays. It's kind of a, you know, a bit of a thunder lightning aspect to it where I think Mike Washington in select plays can go out there and try to give them a, you know, a Travion-esque long run. It's been impressive in the preseason. Real quick on the Woody Mark's point.
We want to make David Montgomery a three-down back, and some of the logic behind that. We? Well, some of the logic behind it for some. We? Is that, well, these guys that have success but aren't high draft capital picks like Woody Marks, they just fade away. Well, they don't, like the other side of it is this guy performed well for them when he was on the field last year. The coaching staff is the same. Why would they?
pull them off the field. If they think it can be a good compliment, not to mention you bring in Montgomery, but Montgomery's been a committee back for the last several years. So if you want to argue in the pro-Witty Marks side, it's like, well, Montgomery functions very well as a committee back, let Woody Marks have some snaps. They do have a different skill set. You know, it could be a threat to kind of like the value of David Montgomery. Yeah, how did David Montgomery do in that preseason game?
He was zero for zero. Yes. That is to me, it's like it's good that Woody Marks did well. And obviously that in order for it to be a committee and to have anyone encroach on Montgomery, they've got to be playing well. And so a little yellow flag there. But the fact that they didn't play David Montgomery to me says, oh yeah, that's our dude. Woody Marks go out and, you know. But you have to have.
people play the game. Yeah, but I mean, people rest more than one player as well. You know, you've got teams out there where, you know, all the starting wide receivers or whatever are rested and we see the backup. So that's my only counter argument. I would say some things that stuck out to me. Oh, a strip club. Well, I mean, the strip club is, is, it's open, early, open late. Dejan stribling. He's rookie wide receiver for San Francisco. I mean, so far.
Through two games, he is targeted a whole lot really early. It's the highest, like, target share and use of a rookie wide receiver through two preseason games, like, of all time. Yeah. Like, I mean, like any of the greats that we've seen didn't get this much work with the ones. It's really, really nice to.
see confirmation of buzz in camp. You know, when you hear and you hear and you hear, oh, this guy's showing out, oh, this guy's been the best in camp, and then you get the chance to see it and it's like, okay, well, he doesn't show up. It's hard to know was this just fluff because beat reporters have to write about something. But when you hear that drumbeat and then all of a sudden the game starts and it's just like he's highly targeted, he looks great, he's making tough catches. You don't know what the problem is though? Yeah.
before these preseason games, there was like no cover charge to go to the strip club. But now the prices are going on. I don't think the price of his ADP is going to be able to rise fast enough, late enough. I mean, in some sharp leagues, you'll have someone that will draft him. You're going to have crazy people. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You'll have people that'll grab them, you know, four or five rounds ahead of ADP because that's probably where he should be. I think it's going to go. I think it's going to be a trouble, especially after next week.
If he, yeah, I mean, if he has a, no, like next Wednesday. Kyle would like to remind people of, do you remember Marquez Calloway of the New Orleans Saints? Yes. Who was getting buzzed. Uh-huh. Couple big plays in preseason and then bang, this dude's like a seventh round pick. That did definitely happen. And then he was not very good. No. Um, Arronday Gadsden. Oh, no.
