Matt calls the mock-draft tool a beta product for alphas, prompting the hosts to crown the Falcon as the Deucers' sigma male before telling him to mute his microphone.
A Cam Skattebo answer from Jason and Mike becomes rare breaking news; when millions see it without initial credit, Mike takes the omission personally and the hosts repeatedly return to sourcing etiquette.
Al posts his own pool backflip to Slack, the studio displays it for YouTube and scores it, and the hosts later ask him to close the episode with another backflip.
After Jason invokes Gino Smith's recent seasons, the others say his love for Gino knows no bounds, call Gino his dude, and frame the allegiance as burning down with the Jets.
During a live long-run count, Kyle deletes his original four and changes the answer to five, immediately provoking a joke that this is the moment he would not want attached to his name.
The episode opens with the normal three hosts but quickly becomes useful crew canon. Matt's phrase 'beta product for alphas' earns him both Falcon recognition and the one-off title 'sigma male of the Deucers.' Jason and Mike's Cam Skattebo interview produces a rare bit of breaking news; when outside reporting initially omits credit, Mike takes it personally, invents the Madam Schmmester reporter character, and later celebrates the correction while insisting the show cites its own sources. Al answers the backflip story by posting his own pool backflip in Slack; the video goes onto the studio back wall, earns high scores, and becomes the proposed YouTube sign-off. Later, Jason's long-running defense of Gino Smith is described as love that knows no bounds and a willingness to burn down with the Jets. Kyle also supplies a tiny live-production gag by deleting a four-run statistic and replacing it with five while the hosts are discussing whether he wants to be sourced.
[music] Welcome to the Fantasy Footballers podcast with your hosts Andy Holloway, Jason Moore, and Mike [music] Wright. [music] Oh, welcome in. Tuesday, July 21st. >> The Fantasy Footballers back with you. >> Hey guys. >> Hey. >> I First time I'm seeing you in a while. >> Yeah. Yeah. I mean, if if you uh if you've been listening, we've not missed any shows, but we did pre-record last
week >> for yourself. [laughter] >> Well, yeah, I guess you you missed shows. >> Yeah, you guys are handling my guys. I was handling my ties >> out in [snorts] uh out in Hawaii. How was your 20th anniversary? You guys still married? >> We are. >> Yeah. You made it through the the >> Yeah. You know, was you know, it was kind of depressing. We were at a uh we went to Kawaii, >> which we' never been to. >> Okay. very remote island was where they filmed >> all islands are very remote. >> Okay, >> that's why you >> That's fine.
>> Yeah, that's not the word I even meant. I [laughter] meant more rural. I meant more rural, but you're right. Yeah, thank you, Mike. >> It's more more lush is what >> it's the garden aisle and and uh it's where they film Jurassic Park. >> Yeah. Um which which is uh you know >> RIP >> former best picture winner, I'm sure. Um >> where was I going? >> I don't know. You were talking about you were depressed and you were going to leave your wife. No, here's the thing. No, we had a great time. Uh 20 years. That's not what I said. Oh,
>> but uh we're like at the resort. We're at these restaurants and we're like talking to the servers and the people that work there and they're like we said I made some joke about like you know we had an anniversary and I tell them it's 20 years and then I'm like yep we don't hate each other after 20 years. And then they just start talking about all the people that they see. >> Oh. That hate each other. >> That hate each other that go to these resorts for these vacations. And these bummer. I was like, that's so sad. >> But anyways, I we had a great time. And
I wasn't lying about the mice. So, >> we had a great time in New York City. >> You guys were in New York. >> New York City. >> Dude, I'm still tired, which seriously I'm still tired. >> Yeah. J Jason and Mike went to Fan Fanatics Fest and did a ton of uh press and media and got to attend that event. Did not attend the World Cup that was also there, but it probably did your flights on the way home. >> We did watch. >> Um but you guys had the chance to sit down with Jackson Dart and Cam Scatter.
>> Oh, we're going to talk. We got to we got to get further on in the show before. >> Oh, we're not talking about that. No, >> because you guys broke news >> because that was Yes. >> Okay. that belongs in the news section, not the entertainment section of the show. >> But we have a um >> what do we have? We have the NFC South breakdown on today's show. >> We also forgot to do our AFC West divisional predictions. So, we'll do that along with the NFC South today. Um you guys had a couple of shows when I wasn't here. You guys talked through the
NFC North. >> Yes. >> Yeah. Did you guys decide during that show, I'm sure it was hotly debated, how good Jir Gibbs is and that he's going to be really good for what team? >> We actually when we were covering the Lions, we did say that he was going to be good for fantasy football. >> That's good. I did see somebody say that you never mentioned Aman Ross St. Brown on on the show. >> We also did not talk much Jir Gibbs. I mean, when >> that Well, I was bringing it up because it's kind of like the nature of these
shows is not to tell you that the top ranked best players that you're going to pick really high in your draft are going to be good. It's more to discuss like the newness of of offensive systems and coaches and players and changes to the team and >> the nuances of the more difficult situations. Maybe not the elite players, but the ones where it's like, what is the team? So, that's why today's episode's going to be fantastic. We don't have to worry about a lot of elites, you know what I mean? >> Is that a That's a shot at the 8 and N 8
and NFC South. >> Yeah. It's actually a fun division because of that because like the competition is so level. It it could really go any any direction, but it's not a good division. I think most people It's not like >> Well, it's not it's a medium. It's just kind of like there. >> It's one of the worst. >> There's no Yeah. I don't know. It's the worst. >> There's no juggernauts. Like I mean you look at the NFC West which we've yet to have our breakdown of but here's a here's a hint uh there are three really scary dragons and then there's one
>> and then there's Dunice there's one not so good um but yeah I would say that nobody the fact that you can't say hey this team's going to come in and dominate the division or this team's going to be a like if any of them can finish fourth then >> that tells you that the the level of the division is still subject to >> the odds are >> change >> pretty tight >> between like division winning odds. Well, get Do you have them in front of you? >> Yeah. >> I mean, we can just >> Well, I mean, we're going to because we
pick winners, but do you want to Okay, so right now the Bucks are plus 164. >> Oh, yeah. >> The Saints are plus 265. The Panthers at 310, the Falcons are plus 425. Just for some uh some context of when a team is bad, like the AFC West, which we are making up, we forgot to give our division winners for that. So, we we'll get into that. The Raiders are plus 2,000 to win that division. >> Yep. And the last place uh worst in that in the South is plus 400. >> Yeah. Plus 425. And in NFC North, the Vikings are last at plus 510.
>> And Andy, you've got to wrap your head around three divi. You've got to give us three divisions. >> Oh, wait. I need to pick the uh the other one. That's right. Oh, you didn't >> the makeup, the miss, and today's. >> Okay. That's a lot of pressure to nail it, but I will. >> Good luck. >> Um, someone give me a M tie. Um, the Ultimate DraftKit available right now at ultimate draftkit.com. Before we jump into the news and talk about those discussions you guys had with the uh current and former Giants, >> you can jump into the UDK. The mockdraft
tool is available now on the uh not just the iOS, >> correct >> app, but on Android as well. We've gotten all of your feedback. Continue to send that in. There are lots of features being added to it and upgraded and changed and we we are going to continue to make that you know that tool everything it's supposed to be as a mockdraft tool but it's a new feature for the UDK and those of you that already have it or a part of the ultimate footclan. Please uh try it out, test it out and uh enjoy. The draft analyzer also available in the UDK Plus
right now and integrated with the mockdraft tool. So if you go do a mock draft the I see smirks back there in Deuces Alley and that's cuz you were that was your computer going on back there. >> Was that your computer? >> That was my computer. That's not what I was smirking at. But yes, that was my I was reminding you that that that product is still a beta product and Matt pointed out that it's a beta product for alphas and it it made me chuck. >> That's what he said. [laughter] >> Oh my gosh, man. Falcon. >> Yeah. Well, so he hasn't changed since
>> the sigma male of the deucers. >> [laughter] >> the Falcon >> beta product for alphas. Um, but also like mute yourself back there. >> I just did. Thank you. >> You know, you always say you give us >> I'm so good at reminding you guys. >> You give us the reminders, but it's like >> we we follow you. >> I mean, I tell my kid to brush his teeth, too. >> Oh [laughter] gosh. >> Oh, more Rachel. Um, all right. Let's jump into the news. news and notes from around the league. >> I I am particularly enjoying the first
bullet point in our news section today because [laughter] >> because it's part it Do you know why I'm laughing? It it says during an interview by the fantasy footballers in parenthesis Jason and Mike. Yes. >> Don't get confused. I was not there >> at Fanatics Fest on Saturday. You guys got a chance to talk to a couple of uh a couple of knuckleheads. >> Yep. >> But also like maybe the most entertaining tandem >> on a team we're really excited about. Jackson Dark Cam Scataboo. >> We did. And we >> Everybody saw the video. >> The timing of the interview was well
placed for us because as I'm sure if you're listening to this show, you were on social media and you saw the Cam Scataboo backflip fail. >> That was a Yeah, it was a failure. He did not stick the landing and it was like, "Holy crap, we're talking to him about this tomorrow." >> When I saw the video and we're Arizona guys, like he he went to ASU. We watched him every week. He was basically the entire team when we made a run into the college football playoff. But like when I saw that video, I'm like, "No." [laughter] Like please no.
Because the the the what's the reward? the it's >> because the risk if you Oh my gosh, if you do that, just think about it. It's not impossible that you reinjure your knee with a backflip. That is not impossible. >> No, it's not. >> If I tried to backflip, I would injure my knee. >> Sure, it would having listening to his answer, which if you didn't catch the clip going uh around, he talk he's like, I've been doing back flips since the age of four. It's And honestly, I think when when you know when you are athletic and you know how to backflip, it's not a
problem. and he was on a like a like a WWE type of mat which has some bounce, has some give, you know, more like a uh more like a like a gym mat, a gymnastics mat. So, he >> flipped he over flipped. >> Yeah, he over rotated. >> And it's honestly like on any ground if you're going to do the backflip, I kind of understand it. Look, I'm I'm still on the side of you probably shouldn't be doing those things right now. >> Will you do a back flip real quick? >> Do a back flip. No. So we can see what
under rotating is. >> I would definitely under rotate. >> Uh >> but no, I won't. >> But he said he was okay. And we're really bringing this up because it started to make national news and go to my camp. >> Oh no. Mike. Really? >> Yes. >> Yeah. >> Adam Sher. >> Oh no. >> Broke football talk. >> You guys, >> we saw it. We saw your your news. You're break the news that you broke that went to millions of people that had no credit >> to the provider of said information in the news business. That's a big no no.
[laughter] >> I'm a chef here at Pro Football Talk. >> You made the list. [laughter] >> Guess who won't get any more credit >> from reports on this show from me. Madam Schmmester reporting >> from source. >> Okay. You're taking a >> Yeah. >> Or maybe I won't even just say source. I'll just say I heard this. >> I did. Yeah. >> I have this breaking news from me. >> I mean, I saw all the news and I had no clue where it came from. >> Oh, Brooksie says, "Pro Football Talk." All right. Pro Football Talk updated. Retracted. Really? >> Retracted.
>> Okay. >> Still, you're back on the Christmas list. >> You versus Adam Sheper right now. Is that what that is? Hey, when you come at the king, don't miss. Wait, which one's the king? Me. [laughter] I feel like it's I am I am so Mike [laughter] is taking >> I hate to break it to you. >> We don't break a lot of news and I think Mike took it personally. >> I did like uh >> is our one moment. >> Yeah. And then he's just like, "Oh, well, >> Scataboo said, >> look at my reporting." Scataboo said to the fantasy footballers, not Andy, that
he's perfectly fine and promised to not hurt himself before the season. Again, I appreciate that and I appreciate that he's perfectly fine. I also would not appreciate it if I was the Giants and I would not appreciate it if I had that contract. Look, if you've been doing it your whole life, you stop once the contract gets signed and you resume when it's over with. But, >> right. Um, if he said, "What if he said like, "Man, I've been downhill skiing my whole life." >> You know what I mean? Yeah. No. >> Oh, I've been riding a motorcycle since I was 16.
>> There is no [laughter] There's just no way there's not there wasn't a conversation of like, "Bro, you're our running back. Please be careful." >> Also, Owl just shared a video of himself in our Slack doing a backflip into a a pool. And I apologize, Al. I was not familiar with your game. He did the back flip. >> It's a great backflip. It's a really good back. That's a good back flip. >> It went to our slack, but it didn't go to the back wall. >> Well, that's a little more difficult. >> Is that what you're saying? >> We're moving on. I just I put it on
here. I apologize. >> I will say this, like the the the >> the reality of of Cam Scataboo, the caricature versus the the player. like even at ASU like there were there are things that he did on the field like he always had the headshake >> and people thought this was like a you know something's wrong or he got a concussion and this is just like a a kind of a tick habit thing that he had done because the helmet feels uncomfortable on his head and >> and he he talked about the beginning of the game or before games and stuff of
like you know where he's like oh he's hitting his head on the wall he's like that's not what I'm doing he said I'm >> that is what you're doing >> yes but I'm saying he's he like his He's like, I'm adjusting my helmet down. >> But what's insane? >> He's not trying to pump himself up. >> That dude is so uncomfortable in a helmet. >> That's what I'm saying is like, okay, he's shaking his head cuz the helmet doesn't fit, right? He's banging his head on the wall cuz the helmet doesn't like >> What's wrong with your helmet? Get a new
Get a helmet that fits. >> But, uh, he did say, "I'm going to keep being me." They want to say, "I'm brain dead." >> There's the flip. Enjoy, YouTube. >> All right, let's see. >> It's a good It's a good back flip. >> I missed it. >> Okay, we got a back flip. >> Look at that tuck. I mean, that was actually perfect. That was minimal splash. I'm giving that Hold on. [laughter] >> Do we have cards? >> I don't have a way to give that an Olympic grade anymore, but that's that's like an eight. >> Thank you. >> Wow.
>> Oh, Jason's >> Jason gave it a nine. >> Makes for great audio. Um, Bucky Irving said he would be good to go for training camp. >> Oh, man. >> I mean, Bucky Irving is on today's show, and we'll leave it there, and we'll talk about him extensively. Mai Lemon said he will be 100% ready to go for the start of training camp. He had been dealing with a hamstring injury at OTAAS. So yeah, I mean Mai Lemon again another interesting. We haven't broken down the the NFC East yet, right? So that'll be another discussion. Where do we see Lemon and do Goddard and Dvonte Smith
and all of that? So it's nice to hear they'll be ready for camp. Anytime you are uh a rookie and you you miss any reps in time, that's a negative, right? >> Yeah. >> We haven't seen Eli Sters with any headlines about making an impact. So >> Stowers by all reports are crickets. >> Yeah. Well, no. I mean, I >> Did you finally get a good one? >> No. I'm saying crickets would be better >> because we we've had negative reports. We've had reports that it's, you know, that he's >> not making Yeah. It hasn't been going very well for him, but um you know, I I
think it'll go well. >> A raw prospect who was like new to the tight end position, so you kind of knew it was going to take time, but you still don't want to hear that. >> You don't want to hear it, but you you certainly don't want to overreact to it either. I mean, not to put him in any way, shape, or form in the same caliber or tier. But never forget Jamar Chase was a complete bust during his rookie, you know, training camp. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Like it was like he can't catch the football. tight ends, though. I need tight end reports for
