And it's going to be a great one. Oh, it's going to be a doozy. Jason's here. Having a good morning? I am having a very good morning. I'm enjoying the ramp up to this fantasy season and all of our plans here at the fantasy footballers, all the work we're doing. I am legitimately looking forward to hearing this show. Ooh. Yeah.

3:37 ↗

Not just for my talking parts, but I'm looking forward to listening to YouTube gentlemen. You do have a lot of lines in this episode. Oh, good. Good. I've memorized them. Yeah. I think part of what you're alluding to is we have the never not working segment on today's show where we're taking a deep dive as fantasy players. We want to be never not working. We want to try to get as many advantages as we can over our league mates. And we're heading into the draft. So today's.

4:05 ↗

Never Not Working segment is going to deep dive kind of the safety perceptions of different positions in fantasy football. So we'll talk about that. Mike is here. We've got sleep, sorry, we've got values and busts on today's show as well. I was waiting for you to announce me. Thank you. You don't have as many lines today. No. You're more of a bit part. I'm sorry. Did you know this? Did your agent tell you? I love it. Mom's the word.

4:32 ↗

That kind of is your, you're more like, what, quality over quantity. Yeah, I'm the little John of this show. I just, I have thought that many times. I just jump in every once in a while, try and get people hyped up. Yeah. Got the best music. Is Lil John the Kool-Aid man of the hip-hop world? Ooh. He just popped it and he goes, oh yeah. If he.

5:00 ↗

I don't know if little John has ever dropped a no, yeah. He's, he's an okay and a what guy. That's fair. And yeah. But you're the okay and what guy for the show. Yeah. So let's get right into it. First, I just want to make an announcement. We are above 8,500 people now in the Megalibol. So that is. More mega. We're really close to that. I want to hit 10,000. Just because that's a significant number.

5:30 ↗

We already know it's the world record. By the way, did you realize this? We were made aware quickly after the episode released, the Guinness Book of World Records, and then my joke about Guinness Beer Company. Yes. They are indeed the exact same company. That blew my mind. I had no idea, despite them having the exact same name. But, yeah, the Guinness Book of World Records, once we pass 10,000 players in the Megalobole League, will, I'm sure, be reaching out.

6:00 ↗

We expect them to reach out, not us. And we heard about the Meglabel. We got to get you in the book. We do have, Brooks is back in studio today and he will be sitting by our megaphone. And when they call, he will pick it up and confirm that, yes, we do want to be included in the Guinness Book of World Records. Would the megaphone be a big shark phone or a seashell phone? It is unfortunately an awkwardly shaped shark phone.

6:28 ↗

It is not comfortable to talk up. Do you talk into the mouth or the anus? No, my gosh. You're talking to the tail. Yeah. I mean, yeah, that's the anus. You're talking into the tail. We all know what you're talking into. Right. We don't say it. At least say Adam Gase. I mean, come on. Oh, my goodness. You listen through the, through the mouth and the teeth. Number two. You're talking to the number two. Either you're talking to it or you're listening to it.

6:57 ↗

It's a loose situation. I feel like a house of cards right now. I didn't know sharks had. You didn't know. Everyone poops. Megalibol.com to join and play along with us. I know I'm going to be in one of those leagues in the winner of the Megalibol gets in next year's listener league. Yes, megalobol.com to join and we're looking forward to it. And what an accomplishment it will be to have won a league with 10,000 people.

I had just posted a little background to the show. People want to know how this thing got started more than, what, about seven years ago. So you can get some of that background on there. You can find us on Instagram, Instagram.com slash fantasy footballers and the website's the fantasy footballers. Never not working. Presented by Head and Shoulders, Scamp Shield Technology, available at Walmart. All right. Today we are going to look at.

the wide receiver position and the perceived safety of wide receivers in fantasy drafts. Recently, on the tips and tricks episode, I mentioned the fact that, you know, when we were making the argument for drafting quarterbacks later, it was built around the reality that sometimes people think you can draft a quarterback early because you know what you're getting. But the reality was since 2017, only three quarterbacks.

8:51 ↗

drafted as top five quarterbacks, maintain that draft position, and 17 of them finished an average of six spots lower. So you weren't really getting a guarantee at quarterback, right? And last year, look, it was painful if you invested an early pick on Christian McCaffrey and Saquan Barkley because you were shooting for perceived safety at the running back position. And, you know, nobody can control injuries.

9:21 ↗

But that was painful. So maybe the gut reaction of the fantasy player is to swing the pendulum, which is always dangerous. I mean, it's a very heavy pendulum. Oh, extremely. You don't want to get hit with that. No. And maybe you think, well, wide receivers are safer. So I'll bypass an early running back. We'll go for the safety of the wide receiver position. So we wanted to dig in deep and look at the last five years of wide receivers by average draft position.

9:51 ↗

And just see how it's turned out. I mean, what has happened to the top 10 wide receivers in terms of where you drafted them and how did they finish? And so here's kind of the overarching number for you. Since 2016, which is the last five years, 44% of the wide receivers drafted in the top 10 by ADP have fallen 15 or more spots.

10:17 ↗

Okay. Say that one more time for me. Yeah. So since 2016, the last five years, 44% of the wide receivers drafted inside the top 10 have fallen 15 or more spots. And when I say fallen 15 or more spots. Thank you, little. Okay. I have to do it when you hit a real big stat. What? There you go. Yeah, that's more like us. But.

10:46 ↗

When I say they fall in 15 of more spots, that's comparing where they were drafted to where they finished, their fantasy finished. So another way to think of that is wide receivers drafted in the first three rounds, 44% of them become a sixth rounder or worse. So I thought that was an interesting way to look at it. Last year was actually one of the better years. You had Devante Adams, Tyreek, Hopkins. They all held their top in value.

11:15 ↗

The disappointments last year, Michael Thomas, well, he was injured, right? His fantasy finish. That's what they all were on this list. Right. Julio banged up, Godwin, injured. And then Kenny Gallaudet missed the majority of the year. So those were the four last year that really disappointed you. But the year prior, it wasn't pretty. The year prior, it was only three of the top 10 that were even close to where they were drafted.

11:42 ↗

Hopkins lost four spots, and then Julio and Michael Thomas were the only two that were like net positive in value gained, where Devante Adams, Juju, Tyreek, Beckham, Antonio Brown, and Adam Thielen, they were not good. So really, wide receivers are very volatile as well. So this is kind of to give you a lay of the land.

12:05 ↗

perception-wise. Yeah, and this is why, you know, we could do this with every position and find out that the guys at the top at all positions don't always hit. And this is why a show like The Sleeper Show that we just finished or today's values show is important because so much of our draft is focused on these first three or four rounds. Like, what am I going to do with my first few picks? Those are fun. Those are the guys that we talk a lot about. But the reality is you're going to lose some.

12:35 ↗

You are, and so is every other player in every single draft. This is a violent game, fantasy football. And so who you pick later in the draft and having your values and your sleepers and your eighth rounder and your 12th rounder, having some of those guys hit matter. And I will just add to that. Not only does the drafting of that matter, but...

12:58 ↗

The attitude of when you lose a player to injury or when a player does not pan out, stick with it. It does not matter. It's been a couple of years. I don't even know if I have the roster to share when I won the listener league like four years ago. And you look at who I drafted and the draft turned out, it was like I had one player.

13:25 ↗

from that draft on my championship roster. Everything else was just injuries or bad performance. And as the season goes on, waivers, trades, start sit decisions. And so don't get down when you draft these guys and they don't pan out. Stay the course. Yeah. And really, this is why I always draft running backs early. There's volatility across multiple positions. But if you go wide receiver heavy early, which can work in a PPR league and it can work in general.

13:54 ↗

if you hit on late round running backs. But hitting on later round running backs is very difficult. Whereas you do find values later in the draft at wide receiver more easily just by the nature of how many there are and the way the NFL distributes the ball in the passing game. So anything to add there, Mike? No. What? Thank you. No, is you.
