to the fantasy footballers podcast. Coming to you from the Playdraft Studios with your host, Andy Holloway, Jason Moore, and Mike Wright. Oh, yes indeed. We're back once more. Pork shop sandwiches. As you say, it's going to be a good show if it starts with a long list of meat. That's how you know. Welcome in. It's Wednesday, December 6th.
2017, Andy Mike and Jason. The fantasy football is back again. The judge himself back behind the magic curtain running things for us. How are you doing today, Brooks? Terrific, Andy. That's good. He is doing terrific. That bad.
An inflection of positivity that I unmatched this month. The most power and energy I've ever witnessed was just right then from the judge. Yes, well done. We've got a great show. Pump the brakes on the show today. Some news and notes, a preview of the Thursday night football game. And we'll get into the mailbag and answer some footclan questions. That's what we do here. We are all about equipping you to win your fantasy football league from January through December. Get that hashtag.
Foot Clan title. We take a little break from the end of December to the beginning of January. And then we go again for the whole year. Mm-hmm. All right. It is Wednesday, which means, oh, oh, O'Reilly. O'Reilly. Auto parts. Ow! All right, pump the brakes. Jason, you were a little late there. I was a little late, but I came in strong. Pump the brakes with O'Reilly Auto Parts.
We each pick a Pump the Brakes candidate last week. I threw out Big Ben Rothesberger. Got him. Got him good. And who was your Pump the Brakes last week, Jay? Last week my Pump the Brakes was Tevin Coleman. Okay. After his big monster two weeks in a row did not fare well against Minnesota.
We're going to start with mics because I didn't see. Oh. I didn't see what he wrote down here. So who do you got on here? Ladies and gentlemen, you're pumped the brakes. It pains me a little bit. I don't like it. Do you still want the drop? Yes, of course we get the drop. Despite the jubilation that that music brings to my soul, I got to pump the brakes on Devin S. scrumptious. That's Devin Funches for the uninitiated wide receiver for the Carolina, Carolina Panthers.
The roads are closed. Xavier Rhodes. And look, I know that the guys like Marvin Jones had some success against Xavier Rhodes, had himself a monster game on Thanksgiving. I don't believe that Cam Newton is a good enough quarterback to get that done this week against Minnesota. Last week it took garbage time to get Devin Funches his points. I like...
Devin Funches moving forward. And this is a pump to brakes. This is not a I am automatically benching Devin Funches. I'm just saying I'm lowering what I expect the output for Devin Funches to be. I'm talking a lower end wide receiver two instead of that stud that he has been since Kelvin Benjamin left town. The nice thing about Devin Funches is he's humongous. So one play can still save your week with a touchdown. But I like.
The pump. Minnesota is a tough defense. They don't give up the big play. That's what we know about them. Jason, who are you pumping the brakes on this week? I am pumping the brakes on Derek Henry running back for, I should say, backup running back for the Tennessee Titans. And you might be saying, but. But Jason, are you, you vo-boing yourself? Don't at me, bro. But Jason.
Didn't Derek Henry get 11 carries for 109 yards in a touchdown last week? Why, yes, voice of public opinion, he did. And he did it the same way he did it earlier in the season in a ridiculous fashion, which is this. For the second time this year, Derek Henry has had the opportunity where the game is over. It's basically you're wanting to kneel the ball down, right, and put the game away. All you need is one first down.
And you're super far away from the other goal line. And as soon as you get that first down and the game is basically over, you could just slide on your butt and the game is over. The defense folds because they know the game is over. And he goes for a 75-yard touchdown. That's twice this year this has happened with Derek Henry. So look, it's a habit. I'll say this. If the Tennessee Titans are up.
On the Arizona Cardinals in Arizona this week, and they need to run the clock out, and they are far away from their own goal line. He's your guy? That's my guy. I think he's going to be a good start. But against Arizona, in Arizona, who's eighth best against the run this year, he has clearly been the backup. I don't think you can confidently start. I mean, if you have to plug him in there, you always have the chance of a big play. But if I can bench Derek Henry, I would prefer to.
All right, I'm going to pump the brakes on Charles Clay. For those of you out there waiting for the return of the first half, Charles Clay. I'm going to put a kibosh on that. Look, he's not Cameron Bray. We saw Cameron Bray come back with Winston, and he got it back together last week. But four games now since he's returned from injury, he's not the same player he was at the beginning of the year. We don't know if Tyrod Taylor's going to play. And so I'm going to put the unlike...
Mike who said it's a downgrade for Devin scrumptious. I'm putting the don't start marker on Charles Clay. I think you have more exciting options with Stephen Anderson and Houston with Tyler Croft and Cincinnati with Ricky Seals Jones. The fact that all you have to do is point at Jason. I didn't even know where he was going. And he knows that you're talking about Ricky Seals Jones. He knows he needs to bark like a seal. Jason's new favorite NFL player. So good.
What a season. What a season it is. That was. Pump the brakes with O'Reilly Auto Parts, better parts, better prices every day. Look, from time to time, we like to give a little shout out to you guys, to the Foot Clan. We got a lot going on these days as the season comes to an end. And we really appreciate everybody's reviews, everybody's support over on iTunes and wherever you're listening. And so we're going to read one right now. Well, Jason is.
Review Asaurus Rags. This one comes in from The Dust Pan. Five stars, a real testimonial. That's the title of it, a real testimony. That is correct. Okay. This is my first season as commissioner, and I'm in 12th place of 12. Uh-oh. The reason this season is so competitive is because as the commission, I asked that the competitors listen to this podcast, especially new members.
Two of the new guys are in a dead lock for first place, and I couldn't be more proud. These guys legitimately have made this season fun for everyone. It's water cooler and break talk. The fantasy footballers help make a league competitive and fun, a must for leagues lacking these things. Well, thank you, the dustpan. I mean, that's how unselfish and just humble and noble a person. The dustpan is sharing this podcast with their entire league.
It is more fun to win a league that is competitive than it is to roll over in half inactive uncompetitive. Yes, it is. And before we get into the news and notes, oh, this is huge. Ladies and gentlemen, this is, this is very important. You know that we only use the horn of Gondor when things are very necessary. Head over to clan of symbol. Thank you. I missed that part.
Footclanvote.com. This is what is happening, Footclan. The FSTA. W.A. No. This is the FSTA. Jason. Get out of here with that nonsense. I'll leave. I'll show myself out. We love both. But the FSTA is putting on a vote for an award. This is for the best social media. And you know what this really is. This is really for you. This is really a who has the best fans, the most active fan base. And we know it's the foot clan. We know this.
But we need the rest of the industry to know this as well as we stand triumphant holding this award with you hand in hand. We will chip off little pieces of this award and mail it to everyone because it is your award. Okay. All right. That is not in writing. Jason will. Jason will do that. But we would appreciate it. Yes, we would. Go to footclan vote.com and footclan assemble. It's just, it's one.
It's literally one second. We'll take you one second. This is only a one vote. Just click a button. Just make sure it's ours. Yeah. Double check that it's the fantasy footballers you're voting for. And we thank you. Yes. Footclanvote.com. Let's get into the news. News and notes from around the league. Wouldn't you know it? Juju Smith-Schuster and Bengals Safety Joy Jayaoka. Both suspended for one game and Juju's suspension was he appealed it.
and lost the appeal. So Juju Smith-Schuster is out this week, as is Rob Gronkowski, whose appeal was denied appropriately. And so no Rob Gronkowski and no Juju. What are the implications fantasy-wise for those two teams? For Juju, I'll say the team, it's okay. Martavis has actually looked far more in sync with Big Ben these past couple weeks.
Antonio Brown, he's going to play through the toe. So I think they're fine. And for fantasy purposes, Juju was kind of a, he was a cool whip, right? On top of your delicious cupcake. He wasn't the meat. He wasn't the meat. That's what I was wondering. He wasn't the cake. He wasn't the cake. What kind of cupcakes are you eating there? Are these Omaha steak? Do you put cool whip on your steak?
No, but I might have to now. You know, sometimes you call the foundation the meat. It's like not right after you reference cupcakes. That's, I, we get that. I'm thinking of like a coconut. Wait, what? Oh, no, okay. The coconut, they do refer to that as meat. That's what I'm just saying, you know, the thick part. Why were you thinking of a coconut? Now we're thinking of three things.
Look, it's like a peanut butter jelly sandwich. You guys want to join me in this hole. Eventually, it will go all the way through. No, you're alone with your cool hip. And I'll be back. But Juju is not a foundational piece to your fantasy football team. However, Rob Gronkowski is that sucks if you have Grunk and you did not get a first round by. Yeah, and the truth is, Big Ben is at home, so you might be tempted to start. But without Juju and against Baltimore.
which is a division game. Great defense. Yeah, no thanks. I'm staying away. All right. Big news for me. Bruce Ellington and C.J. Fedorowitz are both now on injured reserve for Houston. I'm going to stress this. I think that Stephen Anderson is a must start tight end. Wow. He is a pass catching tight end. Bruce Ellington represented the second best pass catching option on that team.
