to the fantasy footballers podcast coming to you from the fantasy jocks.com studios with your host, Andy Holloway, Jason Moore, and Mike Wright. There we go again. Welcome to the fantasy footballers podcast, where Mike leads off and Andy is still M-I-A. Check your trunks. And not your swimming trunks, I mean your car trunk because Andy could be in your trunk.
I have not told anyone which trunk I have put him in, but I'm not letting him out quite yet. Andy is down again with the sickness, but we welcome you into the show anyways. He wanted to do the show, but it's very difficult. This show is very difficult to do without a voice. We made a coach's decision. The player wanted in. He insisted he was healthy. Sit down. And we heard him speak. And we go.
Did you hear yesterday's show? It was incredible. Dude, you know, sometimes the team gets, you know, addition by subtraction, right? Boom! Andy's here. Andy's smiling. He's waving. Welcome to the show. I am Mike Wright. You can follow me on Twitter at FFF. Hitman. I'm joined by my esteemed colleague. Your esteemed verified. Verified colleague. Jason Moore. You follow him at Jason FFL. And if you want to follow.
the charades of the missing man at Andy Holloway. And, of course, the show is at the FF Ballers. It's Thursday. That means we're breaking down some matchups. That means we're giving you a little boom boom in your life. Oh, it's a good one today. Boom, boom. It's a lot. You got a good one for us? Locked and loaded. My boom boom, boom kicker of the week is a virtual guarantee. Check out the fantasy footballers.com. As always, where there's articles going up.
daily quarterback one primer the matchups will be there are starts of the week which will also be involved in the show but i'm going to start it with this quick question of the day i thought we had talked about this yesterday but apparently i skipped i skipped a few things yesterday as the listeners you're not usually the host the listeners uh tweeted at us they say uh i think i'm somehow i missed the thursday night preview everyone missed it
They just couldn't find it. There was a weird lapse in the recording that just cut all of that out. Yeah, nothing else. Yeah, that's what happened. But we'll cover that today, give you a little shorter notice. But anyway, so the quick question, apparently the Ravens have suggested a rule change because the Ravens have player safety in their hearts. On the kickoffs, they have said, if you are able to kick it through the uprights on the kickoff,
you get a bonus points. Wow. This coming from the, I believe the only team in the league that has a kicker who could do it with a consistent basis. Justin Tucker, who is the all-time boom-boom kicker of the year as of right now. Tucker said he could do it 20% of the time. Yeah, I mean, you've got him and maybe Brandon McManus that can boot that out, especially with the cold weather up in Denver. That's a weird rule. It's ridiculous.
It's ridiculous. If it came into effect, the game would be more fun. I'm going to say that. I actually believe it is ridiculous. Thinking about it, my initial reaction is you can't do that. That just, that changes the game a little bit too much. However, if it were done, if they said no, whatever, you know, we don't need to be loyalist to the past, we're going to put it in. Watching the game would be more fun. Every kickoff.
I would actually care and watch to see if they can score a point. You could score nine points in a possession. Exactly. So now you've got a long- So a nine-point game. That's a one-score game. Yeah. It always adds to parity and adds to things like that because, you know, you've got games closer in hand. And just think about watching the Red Zone channel. They never show kickoffs. They switch away. But, oh, now that's a scoring opportunity. I said to Jason, the first thing I thought of was, this is rock and jock.
The old MTV show. Which was so great. Yeah, because it was ridiculous. I want that 30 point shot. So I think it's silly. Go ahead and you can sound off to us at the FF ballers. Let us know what you think about it. Let's move on to the news. News and notes from around the league. Vikings coach Mike Zimmer will undergo emergency eye surgery today. He's questionable for tonight's game. That's interesting.
to call a coach questionable. He's actually had a few surgeries on his eye. So we will see if he is able to be there at the game, if that affects the game at all. Yeah, I mean, I feel like I would mark him D. I would say he's doubtful tonight. We don't have any more news on this. And I do think that it actually does affect the game. It affects the game a little bit less with Zimmer because he is a defensive.
Coach, he's not out there calling offensive plays. So for fantasy purposes, we've seen sometimes when you have an offensive coach and they miss the game, that offense doesn't run the same. They don't click. They don't have that mastermind calling the plays. That's not Zimmer. So I don't think this affects the game too too much. You know what I do think, though, a little preview hint? I think the defense without Zimmer, they're going to give up a little bit more yards, but they'll lock down near that goal line.
they'll lock down when it when they get uh bend don't break bend don't break which might just uh be good for a boom oh oh i see what you i had no idea where that ship was going yeah all right andrew luck
is still in the concussion protocol, but he's a full participant in Wednesday's practice. We saw this last week with Mark Engroom. When they're back at practice and they're able to practice in full, he's going to be able to be there for the Monday night game. I have zero worries of him being able to play. As do I. And speaking of quarterbacks, Trevor Simeon is in a walking boot. He missed practice yesterday. He's considered day to day. But as coobs. I mentioned to you yesterday. I said, uh,
You know, I was like, oh, Trevor Simeon missed practice because that was, it's rare for a quarterback to this practice. It's very common for other positions. And you go, oh, the shoulder? And it was like, no, it's a foot. Nobody knew he had a foot problem. Look, I think Trevor Simeon, he had a good week last week. That is not going to be the norm going forward, in my opinion. You add in this foot scares me a little bit for, say, Demarius Thomas. I've lowered him a little bit in my rankings, not necessarily because of the foot.
Just the whole kit and caboodle there of how I expect Denver's offense to be this week. But we'll keep monitoring Trevor Simeon. I don't think much changes if it goes to Lynch. Sammy Watkins felt soreness in his foot and he did not practice on Wednesday. Come on me. Uh-oh. I mean, this is another week you have to hold him. I don't think I've gotten a lot of questions where it's, you know, here's five guys. I need three of them.
And Sammy Watkins is in that group, and he's almost always one of the guys I'm choosing to sit this week. I think that it's okay. He missed Wednesday. That's pretty par for the course for guys dealing with injury. Julian Adelman had, I believe, has not practiced a single Wednesday. Fair? This season, he's still playing. So I still expect Sammy Watkins to play. Shane Vareen returned to practice yesterday. Really only matters in the deepest of leagues if you are in those 16, 18 team leagues. And you're.
just scrounge him for a running back who might come back off the IR. Yeah, I was going to say he's not off the IR. Not yet. It doesn't affect anything currently. I guess in a few weeks, maybe it could ding Rashad Jennings a little. Very, very inconsequential, I think. Then ESPN Falcons reported, Von McClure. He was on Next Level. That's Mike Clay's new radio show. I actually heard this interview when he was talking about Tevin Coleman.
and that the coaching staff says his step is back. They think Tevin Coleman is ready to go. I thought this was an important note because they take on the chiefs. Think back to the Falcons going up against the Denver Broncos where everyone was very concerned. You thought, wow, this is a spectacular defense. How can the Falcons possibly beat the Broncos? You know what they did? They threw to their running backs. Yeah, the passing game. So.
If Tevin Coleman has that burst back, I mean, the guy is lightning fast and you have Devante Freeman, we could see a similar situation. Does that hurt Devante Freeman's fantasy outlook for you? It may be that humongous ceiling, but Devante Freeman was still spectacular in those games. Him and Coleman were weekly starts. They both were able to be weekly starts. I have moved Freeman down a little bit to, I mean, down to number 12.
So he's still an RB1, but I don't see him having the same exact type of upside that he had when he's the clear guy now that Kevin Coleman is back. So it's worth keeping in mind. And we'll have our in-and-out section tomorrow, but just keeping you up to date, some guys that missed practice. Brady, who, he had that knee, we have the Patriots giving so much misinformation. And you had Tom Brady missing practice. You thought, well, there's nothing here. But if you watch Brady play, he was.
There was clearly something wrong with his knee. And he's missing practice again. He'll play. Grunk, miss practice. He's questionable. Pay attention to him. Reed is still dealing with the shoulder. He'll deal with that for the rest of the season. The last update I read is he had about 30% range of motion. I expect him to miss. And people are saying, well, okay, Vernon Davis. Should I throw him in here? I think Vernon Davis is a great handcuff in general for Jordan Reed, but not this week. The Cardinals are allowing.
right around 25 yards per game to the tight end. It's not good for fantasy. So I would find a different option. So like I said, we'll get into more of these guys, whether or not they're going to play tomorrow. So let's move into, uh, let's, let's talk to some, some matchups here. Let's do it. Fantasy forecast Thursday night football. Here it is. Oh, here it is forklane. Just in time.
You got the Cowboys traveling to Minnesota in the dome. This is a 44 point over under, and the Cowboys are road favorites by three and a half points. Do not blame the wise guys for making these kinds of decisions. Prescott Bradford. I'll take Prescott? Was that the question? It was more a, do you even consider?
streaming Bradford after what we watched Captain Kirk do? No, I don't think you do. I mean, Bradford has, when you look at the average depth of target and where Bradford is throwing the ball, it's like 90 plus percent of his passes don't travel more than 10 yards in the air. For fantasy purposes, that's never going to get it done. You look at Captain Kirk. Captain Kirk's, you know, yards per attempt are great.
They're up near the higher end in the league. So against this Cowboys defense, I don't like much from the Minnesota Vikings. I personally, if we're talking about the offensive side of the Vikings, Kyle Rudolph can get it done. The Cowboys defense has been pretty good, but they have definitely had some big games against them at the tight end position. So I'd be willing to roll him out, certainly. I know you have some thoughts on. Yeah, I'll say there is a stat here.
That makes me like Stefan Diggs. The Cowboys defense are allowing nearly 28 receptions per game. That's 31st in the league. So a lot of, a lot of catches are happening. Right. Against the Dallas Cowboys. Stefan Diggs is catching 7.4. He's catching a lot of passes. Look, since that offense, I'm actually, I'm going to talk, because I'm going on a ledge here, a very rickety ledge, very much like a tree limb that could snap at any moment because.
