Fantasy Football - Week 12 Studs & Duds + Jason’s Trade Regrets - Podcast for 11/24

So we've got a new kind of offensive system happening here in New York. And it's wonderful because usually what they do with Wondale Robinson, it was not a tackle breaker, but it's very good at getting open. So they have them get open behind the line of scrimmage, throw him the ball, and then get tackled. It's like use him down the field. And they did 14 targets, 9 for 156 and 1. James was just. There are two games this year where he's a top five receiver, Wondale, and both of them, 17 plus yards per catch. You've got to remember the previous four weeks, 9, 11, and 11 targets. So you're like, awesome. Wide receiver 32, 3248. So this was a big difference. Obviously, this is a James Winston game, so hopefully they can see some of this. There was also, Darius Slayton came out, caught the first pass, tweaked his hamstring, was out for a lot of the game. He did come back later in the game.

We were so confused. Yeah, it was really, it was like, why? Slayton missed most of the game, so that was somewhat helpful. I mean, do you buy into Wondale next week, Jackson Dart back? Are you plugging them in your lineup like the same way that, you know? I mean, I think Wondell's definitely, he's in the same tier as like starting in Alec Pierce. Which is not bad. You're going to have, I mean, the targets are crazy. So if you can give me a guaranteed nine targets, which seems like you'll get. You should usually start that player. Alman Ross St. Brown was awesome. George Pickens, incredible. He's tied with Puka for number two. Fancy points per game. Yeah. It's wild. He is on pace for a bag of cash. I projected him out over the season, and it was a bag of cash. He has over a thousand yards already. Wide receiver, filthy rich. On the year. On the year. On pace for 1,600 yards, 12 touchdowns, and.

unlike his usual, like, you know, that's on 79 catches, on pace for 103 receptions. Just because he totally can do that. Just mannimal place, too. It's on a regular basis. It's great. Here he is. A.J. Brown, 10 targets, 8 for 1, 10 and 1. Had another one that he couldn't get the foot down. It would have been a second touchdown. There you are. There you are, Peter. DJ Moore, Devante Adams, Rashi Rice, all big weeks. And let's shout out Michael Wilson while we can. 15 more targets, 10 for 118. What? Yeah, again, we talked about it. And then Parker, Washington, 5 for 71 and 1. Another great game from here. We are in year three of Michael Wilson. And they've never once tried to do this. If Michael Wilson's dad was as loud as Marvin Harrison.

Maybe we would have heard from him. So this is pretty wild, guys. So last year, 2004, Michael Wilson finished the year with 71 targets for 47 receptions, 548 yards. This year currently has 71 targets, 47 receptions for 534 yards. That's wild. How did you wrap it up? How does this possibly happen? Jacobi percent and Marvin Harrison being gone. And I wouldn't really. fully sit him down just because Harrison comes back. No, I think he's going to be in contention for some, some of these matchups for a flex play. He very well might be, but he's not, he will move to the third target, because obviously McBride and Harrison will be one and two. All right, we have top five tight-in scores of the week. All the first opportunities were Henderson. Henderson didn't get in. Then they're like, okay, let's try Remandre. Remandre doesn't get in. Okay, let's try Jennings. Why can't we beat the faggles on? We watched Lamar Jackson this weekend. 13 for 23 for 153. Second straight week with what, like 10, 11 yards rushing. But they had like 80 yards against the Jets in the first half or so. They were down to the Jets for a long time. But we were talking about it. Lamar does not look the same. He's been on the injury report, missing practices. He's hurt. There are so many plays where you watch him and you're like, oh, that's a Lamar play. Why didn't he take it? Why didn't he?

Why didn't he run? Why didn't he go? Why didn't he take the outside? There was one specific we were watching where he had the first down on the outside and he cut it up for no reason. It was clear to me he didn't think he had the speed to get to the outside. The last four weeks rushing five for 14, nine for 36, four for 10, seven for 11. That directly translates to his quarterback 15, 29, and 23 finishes. He has one passing touchdown in the last three weeks. He has not surpassed 200 yards. And now you get. I mean, you got Cincinnati this Thursday, then you get Pittsburgh, then you get Cincinnati again, and then you finish your fantasy playoffs with New England and Green Bay. That seems a little bit frightening. You're just going, I mean, the truth is, you better get healthy, Lamar. You're going to end up riding Lamar, and he's either going to get healthy or you're going to be bounced, right? Yeah. There's no alternative.

I would not move on. I mean, I can't imagine. So Jacobi Brissette is the name. I saw that question. Multiple weeks that question. Yeah. The Jacoby Brissette is the name where maybe with Lamar's injuries, you picked someone else up. Maybe if it was, you know, a couple weeks ago, maybe you got Jackson Dart and you're rolling those two guys on a roster. You know, some weeks you're going to, but you just said, I mean, two of the next three weeks you play Cincinnati. You're not going to not play Lamar in either of those games. So I really do think in the end, it's.

It's like you're just holding your breath and you're hoping he gets healthy and gets back to doing Lamar things. For the first time in his career, no touchdowns of any kind in back-to-back weeks for Lamar. That's crazy. And the Ravens have won five in a row. So there you go. Josh Allen, you know, we saw it. Houston seems to be his kryptonite. Jordan Love. I think Houston's everybody's kryptonite. They haven't given up a QB1 performance all year. Yeah, that's wild. Jordan Love, 14 for 21 against Minnesota for just 139 yards. That's not good. And we're hoping that we get Jaden Reed back because his practice window opened up. I don't know if we reported that here on the show. Jaden Reed's practice window. He is out there practicing. Oh, boy. Oh. Hey. One good quarter. J.J. McCarthy. 12 for 19 for 87 passing yards.

Guys, I'm getting concerned. I think you were getting concerned when you traded JJ away last week. Yeah. Not McCarthy, Justin Jefferson. I mean. I think he's bad. I mean, you want to. Everyone, everyone, the devil's advocate is going to be six games. Yes. Yes. You want to give quarterbacks especially more than six games before you make a final definitive decision on. Does that guy have it? Can he be a franchise quarterback? Can he be a starter? But as of right now, this is tragically, this, this, it's not just, wow, man, it's not going well. This is tragically bad. Uh, yeah, and you don't want to see the comparisons. Oh, man. Tell the Jamarcus Russell comparison. First six career games.

You want me to go line by line? Well, or do you want me to talk about him being? Jamarcus Russell has more yards. Yeah, Anthony Amico tweeted. Fewer interceptions, better completion percentage, a much better passer rate, took fewer sacks. Pretty much across the board is better than J.J. McCarthy's first 60. I mean, McCarthy's thrown three times the interceptions of Jamarcus Russell. McCarthy now ranks 851 out of 852 in EPA per dropback among passers. Only Jamarcus is worse. You need to, again, it's six games, and this is Green Bay. And that'll be the excuse because Jalen Hertz looked terrible against Green Bay. But, ooh, I mean, this is unacceptably bad. Anthony Richardson last year threw for 57% completion percentage. And that was like so bad. You just can't do that in the NFL and be an NFL quarterback. That's so much better than what J.J. McCarthy is throwing for so far. It's compounded. And again, last week it was, I'm sorry, Raiders fans.

And you all got on board and agreed. This week it's going to be, I'm sorry, Vikings fans, because you're at the basement of your division. You're going to stay there for now. I mean, a huge win by Chicago. Detroit's great. Green Bay is better than you. They proved it. But the problem is that it's compounded by letting Daniel Jones and Sam Darnold walk out of your locker room. And it also just validates, like there was a panic attack happening. And I feel like it permeated from... some beat reporters and people in Minnesota through a game, through two games. It was like, uh-oh. Like is Max Brosmer going to get opportunities? Two games into your career, you wondered. McCarthy didn't come back quickly from injury. Remember? It was like, oh, it had a little Trey Lance feel to it. It's like, oh, let's put a literally broken Carson Wentz onto the field and not a healthy McCarthy because we've got to work on the footwork and we got to get things going before we get him out there.

a guy who has an NFL caliber arm. Like if he was just in a backyard and he's throwing a football, he'd be like, oh, okay, that guy's, that guy, he must be an NFL quarterback. But then he gets in the pocket and they take the snap and he has no idea what to do. If you were to hire one coach to fix him, it would be Kevin O'Connell and he's not fixing him. Kevin O'Connell has gotten workable performances from guys like Josh Dobbs, Nick Mullins. Yep. There's more. There's a laundry list. There's more of quarterbacks where you're just like that guys who. Not Kell and Mond, but. Yeah. And it, I mean, we got to change this guy's number. This is. I completely agree. He can't be nine anymore. You have to forcibly remove his number. Double zero. That's fine. I think that's probably bad mental. Give him 11, 11 or something. The problem is that McCarthy in his own right, that's the whole discussion. And then.

for our show and for the fantasy community. I mean, I saw all the Addison and the JJ. I mean, like, Justin Jefferson's been deleted from the earth. We have seen this with Hall of Fame wide receivers in the past. Larry Fitzgerald. Larry Fitzgerald went into quarterback purgatory in Arizona. Remind me. What was his stinking name? Skelton? John Skelton? There was Skelton and then... Anderson, the guy from Cleveland. Yep. Yeah. Yeah, I mean, you can delete a player. Last year, going into the season, I was down. I was down on Justin Jefferson because of we have seen this many times in the past. Even first ballot Hall of Famers, when they don't have a quarterback, they can't be a top five fantasy wide receiver. It wasn't like Larry forgot how to play. Obviously, later in his career, he got a better quarterback in Carson Palmer or in Kurt Warner.

Fantastic. It turns out, it turns out that the issue is still quarterback and Sam Donald was actually good. Yeah. It wasn't that he overcame Sam Donald last year or lifted Sam Donald up completely by himself. Sam Donald's a pretty good quarterback. Calvin Johnson in 2009 was held to like 900 yards and five touchdowns. He had Orlovsky and Drew Stanton at quarterback. We've seen this happen before. We had sub-thousand-yard years from Andre Johnson because he had Ryan Mallet in Case Keenham at quarterback. We talked about Larry Fitzgerald. We've had that. Hopkins, too. Remember Hopkins had that one year where it was like, oh, is DeAndre Hopkins not good? Steve Smith, Hall of Famer, 550 yards with Jimmy Clausen. That's where you're at right now. Yeah. So are you afraid for Dynasty? I mean, we were putting the Dynasty wide receivers in order yesterday.

And we're going, okay, yeah, Jamar Chase, I think he belongs at the tippy top. But how? J.S.N. J.S.N. J.S.N. J.J. J.J. One of them's got a quarterback. Oh, I would take JASN over Jefferson for sure. Yeah. And then do you, Amun Ra? Yeah. I mean, I don't know. I would take Alman Ra over Jefferson. The Vikings will have a chance to do something, but. I mean, your options are going to be very, very limited. Letting Darnold go is wild. This is going to be so disgusting. But at the same time, not letting Darnold go after the complete collapse at the end of the year. If you had held on to him, people would have lost their minds too. I'm going to be so stinking upset when Kyler is a Viking next year and is great. I'm going to be like, why? This is what happens, though, when you spend the draft capital that you did.

on J.J. McCarthy because you felt handcuffed. Okay. If McCarthy doesn't exist, Daniel Jones is the starter of this team. Yes, you let you let, you let Donald go if you're mad about the playoffs, even though they were 14 or 2 in the regular season or whatever, 14 and 3. Then Daniel Jones is your next man up because he goes and he's the starter in Indianapolis, but you can't do that because you can't pay him because you've got the, oh my gosh, the cheap rookie contract for McCarthy. Yeah, I believe Jones chose to leave. Like I think the. If I remember because you, of course you chose to leave because you were getting a backup contract to play behind McCarthy. It was where do you think you can end up being the starter? Yeah. He chose he chose wisely, although he would have also chosen wisely. Right? I mean, yes. He would. It was Richardson or McCarthy. If he were, if Daniel Jones were the backup, he would have been starting. Oh, as soon as McCarthy got hurt, Daniel Jones would have had the job. And he never would have given it back. Correct. Yeah. His runs were two, negative one, two, seven, two, one, five, one, two. Maybe Dallas's front seven is what they're trying to build. Kenny Clark and Quinn and Williams next to each other, it's stopping the run. That's what they wanted to do. Look.

I would never give Jerry Jones any credit other than for looking ancient. But their defense is better. Like we kind of talked about it last week. I thought about playing them against the Raiders. It was a bad start to the game, but then they got it together. They literally, the defense won the game for him. When you get down 21-0 and you don't give up another point. And Quinnon did, because he got banged up. It sounds like he's saying he will play. Yeah, he got a, he took a pretty big shot to the ribs, I believe. That was Sequin. Yeah. What's going on with the Bears? is they are taking their youth and putting them forward more and more. I mean, this was a week where they- Yeah, with Burden and Loveland. Burden, Loveland, and Monongai all kind of usurped their previous roles while starters are healthy and it worked and they won. Yeah, so Kees and Kemet and Swift. Yeah. Not so much. So I'm very like binoculars on the bears right now next week to see does this continue? Does this, you know, is this going to-

I will not allow you to be upset at that because if you want to, the answer of why he got those carries is because Henderson didn't get in the end zone when he got the opportunity. Henderson was one carry inside the five. And he got three yards. I think some of them might have got called back because he, he was down there. Some of them were ahead. Some of them were innings. No, Trevion and Henderson had the one carry I was talking about where I thought he scored.

Push two guys out of the way, almost scores, gets three yards. And we're giving Ramandre two carries for nothingness. It's just so dumb. He's bigger. Yeah. Yeah. And that always works. Uh, wide receivers. These are, these are bad, bad, bad conversations. I mean, these are not small names. Justin Jefferson, Emeka, Abuka, Roma, Dunseh, Jameson, Jameson. Oh, man. Hello darkness. What? Hello darkness, my old friend. Everything about that game against the Giants told me that Jameson Williams was going to be involved. They were down. And then suddenly in the middle of the game, I turned to Jason. I was like, do they trust him for a comeback? Because they trusted Amun Ra a whole lot. Yeah, no. And Abuka, what is he going to be the rest of the year if we missed some weeks with Baker? Not great. I mean, the Rams are awesome. Teddy went to him, but it really is a matter of. I think Teddy will be fine and Abuka will be fine.

in light matchups, but against the Rams, that was just too much for for Teddy Two Gloves. Emeka Abuka has no weeks between wide receiver 8 and 24. He's either top seven. Your first or you're last. Or you are like a disappearing act. What's crazy is you look at his last five games and four of five have been duds, and yet he hasn't had fewer than eight targets in any of them. No, and he's still leading all rookies in yards and in touchdowns. And despite the struggles, and now Godwin's back. I really am. He has more yards than Tet. He did as of the pre.
