NFC North Breakdown + Surprise Team Picks - Fantasy Football Podcast for 7/20

You're going to have rookie numbers, and I think they're going to be prolific rookie numbers. I think Caleb Williams is going to have one of the better rookie wide receiver seasons, a rookie quarterback seasons of all time. But even that is not. I think that's like, sorry to derail the conversation, but that's like, that's it. Caleb Williams is being drafted as the QB 11, which is like, that's not the worst thing in the world. Like he's not being steamed up to being, you know, like a top eight guy. I like that phrase. Being steamed up. Yeah, we never used that before. He is being drafted in, like, what, the eighth round? And the price is, it's palatable. Jason. But what does prolific look like to you? That's what I'm asking. I'm going to put you on the spot. Jason Moore, Caleb Williams over under 4,108 passing yards. I would take the under based on history.

touchdowns over under 23 passing touchdown. Oh, I've got him exactly at 23. That's my projection for him. This game has not been fun. Prolific, my butt. No, no, no. That's what I think that is prolific. I just gave you CJ Stroud's two numbers. So if he doesn't, Stroud was the quarterback 11 with 4,100 yards and 23 touchdowns. If you throw 4,000 yards and 23 touchdowns for an NFL quarterback for fantasy purposes, that sucks. For a rookie quarterback that is. prolific that those are you're in the top 10 of both of those numbers like that that's that is an unbelievable rookie season so that's where let's say he throws 4,325 that's one that's one of the best not necessarily fantasy because the best fantasy rookies are our mobile running quarterbacks but as far as you know a guy that's going to just put up a ton through the air

That's as good as it ever gets. And then you split that up three ways. Yeah, I don't know if you split it up three ways, man. Well, that's the question is what's the packing order of the wide receiver? Yeah, and that would also make them the best quarterback, the bears have ever had statistically by a wide margin. I do think that's possible. You know, 17-game season, amazing peripherals, like the defense, the coaching, the receivers. I think Caleb Williams could go do that for sure. But, you know, who becomes his favorite? Right? Like, is Keenan Allen a long, have a long play? I mean, you have, um, you have to pay up for DJ more compared to the other guys. Roma Dunezay, you're a rookie. There's a lot of question marks about whether you're going to, I mean, you're not, you're not out snapping DJ Moore and Keenan Allen in this offense. So three wide. That's your situation, right? And you do have. What's there 12 personnel numbers?

I probably have that. It's hard to say because you've got Shane Waldron coming over from who has been the Seattle offensive coordinator. And if you look at what Seattle did last year, they had three similar players, right? You had a speedster in Tyler Lockett. Don't say that. That's kind of like DJ Moore. You had your really great slot route runner in JSN that's Keenan Allen. And you had your big bodied guy like DK Metcalf. And so if they're implementing a similar offensive system to what we saw in Seattle, Keenan scares the crap out of me because the amount of... Who catches the ball 40 yards behind the line of scrimmings? Yes, exactly. His average depth of target's going to be zero. They were 11th and 12 personnel last year, by the way. Seattle was with Walden. That's a compelling argument because I was just about to say, I think Keenan's the one I'm going to take. I don't want to pay up for DJ Moore and I don't want to do the... Well, I'll just take the last one because...

I'm not going to bet on the rookie. I definitely have softened on DJ Moore from where I was in February, March, and looking forward to the season, or maybe not February March, but a couple months ago. Because of just the fact that you have three talented players, you've got a really talented tight-in. You've got a pass-catching wide receiver running back. And then you have a cap on rookie production historically where we've never seen a double-digit touchdown year. So it's not like I can say, okay, he spreads it around, but DJ Moore puts up 10 or 11. That's really, really unlikely.

But this could be a really, really good team where they win a lot of games and they're more disappointing for fantasy. I think that's what's going to happen. I think they're going to be a very exciting team. I also believe that there will be massive games, you know, where Caleb Williams does go out and throw 350 and four in a single week and you're thrilled and excited, but it's probably going to be a little bit of a learning curve here. It's time. It's time for, well, no, it's not. I'll wait a second. I want to hear about DeAndre Swift real quick because we don't.

We don't talk about him enough or a lot. Sixth round pick right now. I think we're all a little lower than ADP on him. Why is that? Because 47% of his yards came before contact last year behind the Philadelphia Eagles offensive line. He had, I mean, you saw those cameras, those Madden angle cameras from behind the quarterback where it's like, dude, I could have got one yard through that line. Because, you know, it was like. five yards to the left, five yards to the right, the holes he was running through. Now, this isn't a bad offensive line, and obviously you're not going to be stacking the box against the running game with all these wide receivers. I think DeAndre Swift is going to be okay. They went after him immediately in free agency. He fit the scheme perfectly. This was clearly a desire. So I think they have a plan for him. He'll be involved. You know, he's being drafted as the running back 21, which doesn't feel too bad. If you want to take a shot on him, everything I said about...

rookie quarterbacks being bad for wide receivers, but good for the floor of a running back applies here to D'Andre Swift. I just don't. Is Mike forgiven him? Are you ready to jump back in? I was going to ask the question of what do you make about a player? I know the money is there, but it's his third team in three years, right? Like, yeah, the Brandon Cooks of the running back position. Like people, they tire of it. It has happened. Like that is, and maybe it was just a situation of Philadelphia would have loved to get him back, but he played his way into a contract and they were able to get Sequin Barclay. So maybe that is literally the entirety of the explanation, but it's hard, man. I mean, Detroit did that. We know who he is. We know who DeAndre Swift is. He's a good running back who can help a team in trunks. He's not going to be great. He's not going to be a top fantasy. Here's his four seasons. Here's his four seasons is his fantasy finish. Running back 18, running back 19, running back 22.

Running back 23. He's been drafted as a running back 21. Sounds about right. Well, that's the Terry McCoran of the running back. I think that he's actually positionally not a good running back. I think that he is an extremely talented. Fast. Human being an athlete and a competent football player. But just not the way that like Jemir Gibbs couldn't get on the field because he was doing. boneheaded things that we can't necessarily see. I'm guessing that has an influence on it. All right. I'm going to be boring. Are you? Yeah, Detroit, Green Bay, Chicago, Minnesota. Okay. I am going to be less boring. I'm going Packers, Lions, Bears, Vikings. I'm so happy to hear you say that, Jason, because if you both had the lions at the top, I'm like, someone's got to be, someone has to have the courage to put the Packers first.
