Happy Monday, everybody. Well, not everybody. Is it really? This is the fantasy footballers podcast. I'm Andy Holloway, joined by Mike, the fantasy hitman Wright. Good morning, Foot Clan. And a man formerly known as Jason, who currently has a deeper voice than usual. Yeah, I'm both sick in my physical body and sick in my heart and soul. Hey, Mike, you've seen Winnie the Pooh before, haven't you?
The cartoon? Yeah. Yeah. What character does he remind you of this morning? If I had to suggest a character from Winnie the Pooh, I would go with Eeyore. I can assure you that Eeyore has way more optimism. And not just because he's double stuffed. I think Eeyore's stuffed, isn't he? Yeah, they're all stuffed himself. Well, he has a lot more optimism and life than I do this morning. It's just great that your voice is recovering from this illness and is this deep because you just sound as sad as you look. Oh, man.
So the reason Jason is so depressed, I have to give some context for this. Has nothing to do with my sickness. No. Well, yeah, you're right. It doesn't. Fred Jackson was released this morning. Okay. That's the beginning of the tale. Breaking news. That is the beginning of the story. First of all, before we go into the story, that's ridiculous. Let me just say that. It is ridiculous. Your entire roster is dead of running backs.
And I said this. Yeah, but he didn't do anything in preseason, Jason. Well, until, you know, he first touched the ball and ran for a 40-yard touchdown and then got called back. Oh, it's not a touchdown. Well, let's give him the ball again. Have him leap over 100 guys in the air like Superman and score touchdown. He's really good. And he's no longer a Buffalo Bill. And the rest of the story is that we had our big league draft.
yesterday. This is the major league that we play in and that we've been in for 10 years and we all bring banners of our teams and hoot and holler and mock everybody and it's the big deal. And Jason drafted LaShawn McCoy in the first round. Okay, that's the beginning of the story. The end of a tier. He also drafted Fred Jackson in the fourth round. No, no, I didn't. 35, 34? That was Vincent Jackson. Oh, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. He drafted Vincent Jackson in the fourth round.
And he got to around the seventh round when Mike had drafted Fred Jackson. And it hits him that he really should ensure this LaShawn McCoy pick. Or give the context. Yeah. So we were, I've got a co-owner as well. And we were targeting Fred Jackson the whole time. We knew he'd be there at that next pick. And we knew we had to have him. LaShawn McCoy being popped.
possibly not even there for week one, and Fred Jackson being talented, we knew we had to have him. So we were targeting him hardcore, and of course, Mike, the fantasy hitman, right, took me out, and grabs Fred Jackson. And so our hearts crush and sink. But later in the draft, we see a perfect opportunity, a perfect opportunity, because even though I'm not super high on Tori Smith, this is late in the draft, like eight, nine, ninth round, and we're a keeper league, so it was really like three rounds after that. And Tori Smith,
was still on the board who I don't have ranked too far behind Vincent Jackson. So we decide, hey, hey, I got a good deal for both of us because it's a great deal for you, Mike. I'm going to trade Vincent Jackson from the fourth round for Fred Jackson from later. And what happens, but I go home. And then I study the Bills game and watch how amazing Fred Jackson is. My heart soars.
My voice could sing. I was so happy with the trade. And then I wake up. And I have a string of ha ha ha ha ha ha ha on slack because Fred Jackson has been cut. Unbelievable. And so I lost Vincent Jackson and Fred Jackson in one fell swoop. I was driving my son to school today. And...
I saw that news come across the other world, and I just laughed as loud as the day is long. I just laughed forever. So that's why we have a double-stuffed Eeyore this morning. I didn't really understand the sad music. I thought it should have been happy music. Of course you did. You traded nobody for Vincent Jackson. Unbelievable. All right, we got a good show for you.
It's fun. It's draft season. We've got some news and notes. We're going to talk preseason week three, and we're going to mix in some mailbag today. So it'll be a fun one. We have some more stories from our draft that we'll share with you that were entertaining, a little bit scary. In some context of these are tips of a live draft of mistakes that each of us felt like we made.
Which mine are zero mistakes. But the other guys made a few. We discussed mine. Yeah, and Mike was wearing these sunglasses that just made them insufferable during the entire draft. Hate blockers. Hate blockers. Hate blockers.

You can see I'm growing a... Your beard? That's a depression beard. No, actually, this beard, this is a beard that I will be growing on my neck in a disgusting fashion until every ultimate draft report is done. Oh. There are many of them. Yes, we should say that. If you've ordered an ultimate draft report, we're working on them. Oh, yeah, we're working hard. We're working through, we've got through a bunch of them, but...
They're coming in hot and heavy now that it's draft weekend. So stay tuned. I put a thing on there. It might take a couple days, but we'll get them to you. And I thought you were going to say you're not going to shave until Fred Jackson finds a new home. That's what I thought he was going to say. Either way, I'll have some celebration. All right. Let's get into the news. News and notes from around the league. Well, little bookkeeping note here at the top. Kevin White is officially on reserve PUP. So put him in that IR slot if you're in a dynasty. Otherwise, cut him.
Rams coach Jeff Fisher said that Trey Mason is questionable for week one. This is kind of just too bad, I think, because we've been touting Mason as a good Lev Bell replacement for that first and second week, but obviously if he goes and pulls his hamstring, he's not going to do you any good. So monitor this with Mason and Gurley. Otherwise, we could be on Benny Cunningham watch. Yeah, honestly, for week one and two, that's a good name to remember. Out of Packers Camp, a big old sigh.
of relief because we've already lost Jordy Nelson and then kind of the headline news right when the preseason week three games began was oh no oh no Randall Cobbs down Randall Cobbs going to the locker room I saw a picture of Aaron Rogers with a big with the logo from straight out of Compton it just said it said straight out of wide receivers and I was like yeah and pretty much Devante Adams my goodness but Randall Cobb's MRI came back
It was negative. No broken bones, no broken collar bone, which was the first fear. Only a sprained AC joint in his shoulder. So no guarantee that he's playing week one. You should keep that in mind, but he is going to be okay, which is really good news for their playoff hopes. Out of Brown's camp, Brown's coach Mike Petten confirmed Sunday night that Duke Johnson was concussed. So here's why I wanted to talk about this. With the Duke Johnson.
Flyer hype has been building. And I'm also thinking this is a possibility. They don't seem to really like Crowell or Terrence West up in Cleveland. So maybe it's Duke Johnson. The problem here is Duke Johnson was always nicked up in college games, ticketing out, missing plays here and there. The durability, the size is a question. First game, concussion. So this is just, I'm not.
completely jumping off board of the fly because it's still a late round flyer type guy, but that's a big concern. Yeah, our good friend Adam Azer, he always said that in the offseason. He said he's so talented and he does great, but he's just always injured and you see it so far, you know, in the NFL. And if you know anything from fantasy football, if you've played more than one season, certain guys are just prone to injury at times. So you just have to be aware of that. And in that situation, you have to own so many backfield guys to even...
It's not like one handcuff is going to save you if Duke Johnson's not on the field. Falcons have signed Julio Jones to a five-year, five-year 71 million-dollar extension. Just a teeny bit more than Des and Demarius? Yeah, how happy is he? I guess he's pretty happy. 71 million dollars happy. And then breaking kind of this morning was news out of Redskins camp, which I think is better for the Redskins, that Kirk Cousins is starting week one.
It's the right move to make. I mean, you watch the team. I'm going to keep my eyes on the news now because I don't know if RG3 is long for that team. I'm setting phasers to stun. Oh, his cousin's back. Captain Kirk is not yet. But he's, Captain Kirk is, if he's in a good matchup, he's a good streamer. I do have some. Oh, my. Breaking news. Tyrod Taylor officially named the starting quarterback for the Buffalo Bills. Oh, do you know who that's great for? I've been late, Fred Jackson.
Everything comes back to Fred. That's all I'm going to contribute this entire show. The good news is he is, at the end of the year, he's eligible for Social Security. So Tyrod Taylor, to me, instantly becomes an interesting quarterback, too. For sure. Well, he can move. If you watch him, he can move with those legs, but he likes to stay in the pocket, and he's been very accurate, 12 for 13 or something last game. And it is good for LaShawn McCoy as well when he comes back.
And if you're looking who the starting kicker is for the Steelers, I should mention this. This week. Sweeacham went out and then Hartley went out and now Josh Scobie's the starting. This week's Pittsburgh kicker. Yeah, yeah. We should have a segment drop. This week's Pittsburgh kicker. I can record our segment drops this week while I'm sick. That's true. Do we want to talk preseason week three? Are you guys ready to talk? Let's do it. Let me hit you with a quick.
Three questions. Three quick questions. Okay. You guys, I'm going to save the team. You tell me who the running back is. Oh, no. I'm going to go through three teams that are kind of fighting. So pretend the situation is this. You have to start this guy when you save the name. Okay. That's the guy you have to start from this team. Atlanta Falcons. Fred Jackson. No. No, all right. Devante Freeman. Freeman. The Dallas Cowboys. Fred Jackson. Actually, there was a news that just broke that said they're not interested in Fred Jackson. Oh.
