This episode is brought to you by State Farm. Every football fan is different. Some won't wash their lucky mustard-stained jersey until the season's over. Some insist they can't sit down on third downs and some pick their favorite team because, I don't know, just like football fandom, nobody's life is exactly the same. And that's why State Farm gets to know you, not as a policy number, but as an actual person.

of Craftsman today at Lowe's.com slash footballers. That's Lowe's.com slash footballers. The Fantasy Footballers podcast. Coming to you from Draft.com Studios with your host, Andy Holloway, Jason Moore, and Mike Wright. Oh, welcome. I wish I was corrosion resistance. Oh, that'd be great. Right? Yeah. Can we corrode?
You can't leave me out in the rain. That's true. I feel like my shins are corroding. Your shins? These things hurt all the time, man. You still get the shin pain? Yeah. See, I remember when we played flag football, that was your biggest ailment. Well, I was so fast that my shins just fall apart. You should see one of those foot doctors, right? Dr. Schmachter, that's what I say. Yeah, he's a good one. I like him. What, uh, Dr. Smokter? Dr. Schultz? No, Dr. Smokter. Oh.
Imagine if you were a doctor and your last name was Schmachter. I don't think anyone's last name. There has to be at least one, Dr. Schmacher. In the infinite universe, somebody has named Dr. Schmachter. Yeah, that's true. Like the dentist named Crenthus. Yeah. Oh. But you don't go into the office and say, hey, dentist. But you say, hey, Doc. Dr. Schmachter. I'm sorry, Dr. Schmachter is out today. Are you willing to see one of his PAs?
Um, good luck getting credibility. Dr. Schmacher. At what point does the irony and you lean into it? You're like, yeah, I will be a doctor. How did you choose to become a lawyer, Mr. Schmachter? Do you think like Pete Schmacher had that in his yearbook? He was most likely to be a doctor. Yeah. What is this? Welcome to the fantasy footballers podcast. We reached that point in that story there where Jason.
He's just tuned out. Jason Moore. I'm Googling Dr. Schmocter. He is in it. Is there some Dr. Schmocter? Something about the Super Smash Brothers. But let's talk fantasy football. Wednesday, October 24th, we have Pump the Break, some news, some trade talk, Thursday night preview, and some Foot Clan mailbag on the show today. It's going to be a great one. We're going to help you get ready for the upcoming week. Week 8. Whoa. It's exciting.
This is go time. I mean, we have one league where we are actually inching towards our trade deadline, which is this week. And that's a little bit early for most leagues because we're a keeper league and we don't like to let people, you know, sell out too late. You don't want to let people buy a championship in week 13. Right. And say, oh, I'm going to make the playoffs cool. I'm going to go buy all the best players. You've got to make a choice in the middle of the season.
And they can do that in our league because you can trade draft picks. Right. Just to, you can't normally just buy them. Which we recommend. If you're in a league that is a keeper league and you have, you know, year over year value, open up trading draft picks. It's a lot of fun. All right. Well, rankings, there will be on the site a little bit later today. Week 8 rankings, probably by the time you're listening to this, we'll have our initial week eight rankings up there on the website.
You can find us on YouTube.com slash the fantasy footballers, Twitter at theFF ballers, the websites, the fantasy footballers.com. And what I encourage you to do. Oh, yeah. That's not what I was going to say. Too bad. We're jumping in here. Hijacked. Foot Clan assemble. I was going to give them a break. It's only day two, man. I'll give them a break in a little bit. But Foot Clan, we need your help. I'll make it brief. How about that? Okay. Footclanvote.com.

The Foot Clan in these votes, they're undefeated. Yeah. This is the highest profile one. Yes. What I was going to say originally was that if you're interested in a sign Saquan, Barclay, Jersey, we're giving one away at footclan giveaway.com. So it is Wednesday, which means.
Oh, oh, oh, O'Reilly. O'Reilly. Auto parts. Ow! It has pumped the brakes with O'Reilly Auto Parts every Wednesday. We pump the brakes right here right now. Jason, who are you pumping the brakes on for week eight? Well, first and foremost, it doesn't need to be said, but I just, you know, when you look at who you're pumping the brakes on, you look at matchups, you look at who did well last week, and all of a sudden you go, oh, man.
The Denver Broncos had, like, the greatest defense of all time last week. Depending on your scoring, I heard people saying, like, they put up 40 points as a defense. They play Kansas City. Please do not do that. Do not rely on them. That is not my pump. The brakes. That is the brakes. That's just a PSA. That's just a PSA. My pump the brakes is going to be. Whoa. It's a single pump.
It's a one week pump. This is not a hingle McRingleberry three pump. Get the flag situation. This is a watch out for Cam Newton, booty scooting, Cam Newton. I don't think. Not enough booty scooting this week? There's not going to be enough booty scooting. The Baltimore Ravens defense is legit. And I know, you know, if you watch the game last week against an equally legit Philadelphia Eagles.
You were really close to having a Cam Newton implosion fantasy week. It's kind of what he can do that, though. Absolutely, absolutely. So this could blow up in my face because Cam Newton could, you know, rush two touchdowns in, no problemo. But historically speaking, when Cam Newton finishes the year as the number three quarterback, it comes with a lot of booms.
And a lot of busts. And we haven't really seen the busts that much this year. He's been super solid. And this week, I've just got that feeling the bad matchup, a lower scoring game. If you get a lousy start this week out of Cam Newton, I'm not going to be surprised. There's probably going to be a lot of players that I'm willing to start over Cam Newton this week. So tap, tap, push the brakes, pump them, Cam Newton. Fair enough. All right, I'll jump in here.
uh he he's been one of my man crushes this year but i'm going to pump the brakes on baker mayfield slash jarvis landry last week it was jarvis landry week or it was they were against tampa bay they're just allowing free fantasy points to everyone and it even took an overtime performance to get jarvis where we needed him for fancy purposes he got there and you were very happy playing him but this week cleveland takes on
The Pittsburgh Steelers who, that's why I'm pumping the brakes. Earlier on in the season, this looked like this was going to be extremely juicy. Joe Hayden has really helped this secondary, at least when it comes to top wide receivers. Checking out pro football focus, they have the numbers for when Joe Hayden was shadowing Julio Jones, limited him to 5 for 62. AJ Green ended up having a good day. But when he was covered, 66% of the time by Joe Hayden.
Three receptions for 31 yards. You're hoping that there's a play where Joe Hayden is not on Jarvis Landry and he breaks one. On top of the overall inefficiencies of the targets will be there. But you got to pull back the expectations on Jarvis Landry and Baker may have moved from that. I'm looking like I'm going to stream him to going hands off. But what about the fact that the Browns are probably going to get another five quarters? Because they get overtime every week. They get overtime. It's not fair.
It's amazing how competitive they've been on their way to two, four and one. Yes. Right? Yeah, it really is. But the browns end up brownsing very often. All right. Soon. The time is soon. I'm pumping the brakes on all New York Jets offensive players. Whoa. A global. A global pump. Mostly because I want to include Jermaine curse in the equation. But the truth is this. When you've glanced the Jets way this year,
It hasn't really worked out very often. Isaiah Crowell has had a couple of big games, but they were hard to predict, right, the ping pong ball. We just got word that Bilal Powell's been put on injured reserve. Yeah, it could be a lot of volume for Crowell. It could be, but it also hurts the offense. We've all acknowledged Bilal Powell's ability to help the offense. And every time you've glanced the way of a wide receiver, you've wanted to believe in Robbie Anderson. You've wanted to believe in Quincy and Nunwa with the injury, Terrell Pryor, now injured.
You wanted to believe in Jermaine Curse. You know, 10 targets the week before. This past week is 10 targets to Robbie Anderson, still equated to no fantasy value. And they face the Bears in Chicago this week. Oh! So I am saying this because I also, the volume could be there for Isaiah Crowell. But you also have Elijah McGuire returning to practice. He'll be back soon. You have Trenton Cannon. Who knows?
what the game script's going to entail. I don't think New York's going to be up and able to give the ball to Isaiah Crowell all game long. And he was a little banged up, too. So I'm pumping the brakes on all Jets' offensive players. And the catalyst of that is really the inconsistency of rookie quarterback play. Because there are games when Sam Donald's been okay, but he's thrown a pick in every game except for one, multiple picks in the last few games, fumbles.
You know, it's just kind of a gross situation there, and it's too hard to predict. And that team doesn't have a clear bona fide, you know, guarantee on it. So I'm pumping the brakes on all jets. That was. Pump the brakes with the Riley Auto Parts. Better parts, better prices every day. Let's talk news. News and notes from around the league. So, yeah, Blah, pal. Engine reserved with a neck injury. Blah, plow, plow. Blum, plow. Yeah. Elijah McGuire is worth.
discussing here because as you said, he returned to practice. He's a guy that now they need. And I think there is a, you know, he will almost certainly be taken off. The IR be the eligible to return player. He'll be back in a couple weeks. We've seen that role be valuable. Going into the season, if you, if it's so funny how quick we forget, but early.
Coming into the season, we thought Belal Powell was going to be cut. Wasn't even going to be on the roster because they liked Elijah McGuire. That's who they wanted to get more touches. And then McGuire got injured. Powell was a lock. Powell's been valuable. And so, you know, especially if you're a league that has an IR slot, just pick him up, put him in your IR. Yeah, week nine is when I would look at him being available. Yeah.
So next week, not this week, but... Correct. Yeah. There have been multiple sources indicating that Dalvin Cook with the hamstring injury will be out through the week 10 by. Now, that is all outside of the team. So nobody on the team has said this is the case. So I want to preface by saying, look, we could be surprised. But all indications are pointing towards keeping Dalvin Cook out. And this is something we're seeing. You know, when you strike out...
