An extra AC-turbine sound leads to a story about Jason spending most of his life running hot and once sprinting shirtless through 40-degree Nashville weather while steam came off his chest.
The control room cannot find the Emeka Egbuka drop, plays an incorrect version, then admits the producer accidentally hit button 55 and lost the segment.
The episode contributes character and production lore rather than fantasy-news canon: Jason is famously heat-sensitive, Al gets an extra AC-turbine cue, and the producer hits button 55 while searching for the correct Emeka Egbuka drop.
The Fantasy Footballers Studio is sponsored by Walmart. Welcome to the Fantasy Footballers Podcast with your hosts, Andy Holloway, Jason Moore, and Mike Wright. Welcome in. It's football time! Yeah! Sounding a little bit like the snap of a whip. Yeah. Welcome in Thursday, October 9th. Somehow. October 9th. And we have a great show for you today. Andy, Mike, and Jason, the Fantasy Footballers Podcast.
Back with you. Big show starts of the week today. The forecast. We'll get into it. All the matchups and news to talk about. And yeah, it's go time. Week six. Any upset predictions for the evening? Nope. How about the Baltimore Ravens? Oh. I think they're going to struggle. Oh, you're not going to pick them again? You're not going to drop a huge... Lessons have been learned? Bankroll on them? No. I think that they're not going to have a good time without Lamar Jackson. No. And Lamar Jackson unlikely to play before the bye week, which seems smart. Except the part where you're one and four.
That's the part that makes it very, very complicated. Like the Commanders were without Jaden Daniels for two weeks, right? Yes. And they managed to grab a win with Mariota in the first one. And they had a nice record. It's much easier that way. But we want to remind you here at the top, check out the website, thefantasyfootballers.com. Weekly rankings. Our start-sit tool. News and notes from around the league. Presented by Progressive Insurance. Al wants me to thank the Foot Clan or the Foot Clan to thank me for an extra AC turbine sound in today's show. In the last six months, occasionally, I've been menopausal. It's pretty wild. Yeah, you got that perimenopause right now, my man. We had to... Jason spent most of his career as a human. Is that what they call it?
Your life career? Yeah, my life career. Just always hot. Yeah. And I guess it was correlated slightly... He's carrying a lot of extra weight. ...with the extra weight. Because you famously ran through the streets of... Oh, Nashville. I think it was Nashville. Nashville. In 40-degree weather. I... Perhaps without a top. I had the uncontrollable jaw of shivering. Where your teeth are clacking because you're so cold. Yeah, yeah. And you can't stop it no matter what. And Jason's just rolling Cisco. Oh, yeah. He opened the shirt. He had the button up. Steam coming off the chest. It was amazing. So that was the way it used to be.
And Mike and I were normal people. And you ran hot. Now you are the one turning the AC up. Dude, you are... You're out of control. Occasionally, I'm running a little warmer. Al, would you agree that... Occasionally. Yeah. How cold is it back there for you guys? It's 67. Okay. Not cold enough. All right. End of the news. Thursday Night Football. Tyrone Tracy is back. He is in. Darius Slayton is out. It'll be interesting. How much do you care about the Tracy... I mean, I care about it a little bit. I said this before. I am not going to not start Cam Scadaboo until...
You know, like if tonight Tracy comes and is 60% of the carries. And all of a sudden, Cam Scadaboo ends up with 12 total opportunities. Then I'll adjust. I don't expect that to happen. And I'm not going to preempt that happening. Like he... What are your odds of being really bummed tonight because of the matchup with Phillies D and the Tracy return for Scadaboo though? You want to get off to a good start? Do you think that there's a chance you get, you know, sub eight points? Yeah. I think there's a chance. But my only hope here is about opportunities.
How many times does he touch the ball? And how involved is he in the passing game? Because I think that's really for fantasy purposes on this version of the Giants where you're not really going after touchdowns. So if you don't have touchdowns, you want the games with seven, eight targets. He's the better player. Yeah. He's the better running back. He's probably the better pass catcher. He's the better blocker. Oh, the number two search on the site right now, start, sit tool, is Cam Scadaboo or Bill Krosky Merritt. Well, if it was that, I like Bill. I would go Bill. I have Bill ahead.
Now I will definitely go Bill. All right, Chris Godwin. Washington's like in on that now. They are embracing the Bill. We were here first. Do you remember when he retweeted? Oh, yeah. Yes. And then he pulled it because he's like, oh, crap. I don't know what I'm doing. Yeah. I had like a million views in a couple hours. You know who would have been the bell cow of Washington sooner? A little bit sooner. Had he not deleted that tweet? Yeah, that was on you, JCM. Yeah. All right. Chris Godwin, Mike Evans, did not participate in Wednesday practice. Godwin, I had seen it reported as a fibula.
So, I mean, maybe that's correlated to the ankle because that was the break. There was a quote that he came out of the game with soreness. So, he's not been himself yet. It's not. No, not yet. A surprise. But we'll see if he gets there. I've watched so much tape of the Buccaneers Seattle game because it's delightful tape to watch. I mean, on both sides. Both teams played so well. They're wearing those sick jerseys. Yeah. They were beautiful. Just make those full-time jerseys. Dude, I posted that because it's like that generation. I love most of the jerseys then. The creamsicle on the Bucke side.
And then I don't know what they call that beautiful blue. Well, Kelly Green should come back for Philly. And then the blue for Seattle should come back. And we should probably renovate a lot of them. But the response I got. Also, grunge music. Oh, you want grunge music back? I mean, if we're just talking about like 90s stuff that we want to come back. Okay. Landlines. Here we are. No, but I posted that thinking I would get kind of. Blockbuster video. Blockbuster is back, baby. We're opening the first Blockbuster. Most people did not respond that way. No. People our age.
I guess the Tampa Bay jerseys were like unanimously hated. But now they're beloved. But like that's why they changed. Brook C said both of those Bucke wide receivers have not yet been spotted at practice this morning. It's a Bucke versus the world, baby. I mentioned Kate Autton. Yeah, I was going to say Kate Autton is a good pickup. I said a Bucke. A Bucke. Who's that? I don't have the drop in here. What? Goodness gracious producers. Oh, here it is. Emika Ekbegbo. What was that? Someone got that wrong. Let me try that again. Emika Ekbegbo. Why did it play 55?
What? Because I accidentally hit 55. Okay, okay. I was trying to find it and hit the wrong button. Well, we lost ourselves there. Kate Autton was the mention on the backup options. But if Godwin were to miss, he would be in prime position. He's far more interesting. To get some touches. Alvin Kamara day-to-day. Ankle injury. The report was it happened on Wednesday is what I saw. Yes, the actual injury. Yeah. And day-to-day, this is one of those, well, we need more information. But of course, the conspiracies are going to come out of like, oh, is Alvin Kamara hurt right now?
Right. Or is Alvin Kamara about to be traded? Making sure he's not going to get hurt. Correct. Either way, Kendra Miller should be picked up if he's not in your league. He's one of those guys that I think is not rostered enough for the way that he's performing on the field. He's earning more and more play time. Yeah. Snap counts have gone on. And you have that whispering from the bushes that maybe Kamara gets traded. There's another name being rumored, by the way. Oh. In the trade world? In the trade world at running back. Let's hear it. And I'm curious how you react to trade rumors for the players themselves.
Because I don't know if it can get better for Alvin Kamara leaving. And I don't know if it can get better for this guy leaving. Yeah. I agree. It's Brees Hall. Brees Hall trade rumors. He is not under contract for next season. He's a rental. The team is, I mean, of all the players, I think he's more likely to be traded than, it's a preemptive strike, right? A team can trade for him and then potentially extend him. He would cost more, but he would cost more, but you'd have a younger player. You'd have a future at the running back. The trading for veterans is insane.
It's like, Brees Hall, who we love in the fantasy world, if he gets traded, it's probably like, I don't know, a four, six swap. The cost for these guys is so low. The teams rumored around Brees Hall, Chargers, Chiefs, Texans. Man, that would suck if the Chargers. The Chargers would be the. That would be terrible. That would be devastating for two players. Yeah, exactly. That's like, I know. Unless Hampton's injury was somehow more long-term. Yeah, you would end up in a worse spot than you had when it was Hampton and Najee. I don't think it's amazing. It's not amazing to go to the Chiefs.
You're going to have a committee situation there. Yeah, you will. And the Texans, you're also going to have a committee situation there. I don't know for sure that you would have a committee situation of the Texans, but you've got an offense that's struggling, a bad offensive line. You know, if Joe Mixon was there. I mean, Chubb is going to get work still. I think if Joe Mixon was healthy, we would never see Chubb. We would never see Woody Marks. There's rumors about Mixon coming back, too. Yeah. The ankle making progress was reported. Brock Bowers didn't practice on Wednesday. Michael Mayer practiced in full.
He should be their starter. Bowers will probably miss another week, but we don't know. We'll see. It's just Wednesday. Matthew Betts did basically say that this is an injury he's playing through that he can actually aggravate it, make it worse. So he expects a multi-week absence for Brock Bowers. Alman Ross St. Brown didn't practice on Wednesday. They play Sunday night football. I'm not super worried yet. No. And Terry McLaurin, it was first reported. Was that the one where the arrow is pointing up? No, no. That was Tomlin saying that the arrow pointed up for Jalen Warren. Oh, I'm sorry. Whatever the arrow was doing for McLaurin, it is flipped to the not looking good category.
Yeah. Because I thought there was a report by Dan Quinn that he was optimistic about Terry McLaurin playing. It's a Monday night football game. You can basically just cross Terry McLaurin off your list this week because I don't think you've got a great Monday night pivot option for the commanders at wide receiver that you can pick up. And it's looking like you don't want to play a Monday night football game with a guy that might not play. Yeah. You'll probably, what you're saying is Sunday, you're going to need to start someone else before you know. There is, we have two Monday night games, right?
Correct. So I can't recall who the second one is. Let me look it up real quick. I'm just nervous about McLaurin. I mean, it's not like he was playing well for fantasy. I'd be nervous around him anyways. So it's Bears commanders and Bills falcons. So you could pick up a key on Coleman. Loser burden. Or I mean, yeah, Darnell Mooney, who I get, I think Darnell Mooney was not at practice. No, he's not. So. You could pick up one of the 75 Bills wide receivers is what you're saying? Sure. Juwan Jennings did not practice. And the team is not counting on Ricky Pearsall.
So. I mean, we, we, we miss him. He was leading the league in receiving yardage before the injury. Brock Purdy didn't practice on Wednesday with the turf toe, working to get back, but wants to get back at full strength, which maybe Mac Jones gets another opportunity, but he was also limited on Wednesday. But John Lynch said he should be okay. I feel like Mac Jones is going to start again. I think, I think he is. And it's a really good matchup against Tampa Bay right now. Yeah. The, you know, Baker is scoring. And while the Tampa Bay Buccaneers don't have a bad defense, they have been beat.
I mean, Darnold had a great game last week and right now, Mac Jones in his three starts two times has been a top 10 fantasy quarterback, which is the San Francisco system. Weird. It gives us fantasy goodness. Joe Flacco has been announced as the team's starting quarterback. That would be the Bengals starting quarterback for week six. Joe Flacco is famous for being very fast to pick up an offense, play calls, play designs. I think that's what motivated Cincinnati to make the switch to him instead of maybe James Winston or, or, uh, Russell Wilson. It's just Flacco is very quick. If you brought James in and had him start, you would take the playbook and you would light
it on fire and you'd say, okay, just figure it out. You guys go out and run. Like James, it's a screen pass to the running back screen pass running back. Go deep. Got it. It, Joe Flacco is as fast at processing offenses as he is slow in an offense physically. Uh, that was good luck, Joe. Yeah. Good luck. That was today's news. They don't play the Packers or anything, do they? No, don't worry about it. Okay. That was today's news and notes sponsored by progressive insurance quote today at progressive.com progressive casualty insurance company affiliates and third-party insurers not available in all
states or situations coverage of policy terms, limits, and conditions. Let's get into it. Starts of the week presented by us bank. All right. These are our confidence plays our confidence picks for the week. Looking for those great matchups and opportunities starting at the quarterback position. Mike, kick it off. Uh, my quarterback start of the week. I'm going with Jordan love. We're going against the Cincinnati Bengals. They're allowing 4.2 points above expectation for quarterbacks talking about the Bengals. That's fourth. So as in it's the fourth best matchup right now for quarterbacks, Josh Jacobs and crew, they're going to get theirs, but I think that they're going to end up throwing it.
They will still throw and get some points. Jordan loves averaging 250 and two and he's given you, you know, I am a tiny little bit of rushing. I'm starting him over Patrick Mahomes. Okay. So I made that call in one of my leagues earlier yesterday, actually, but it's, it's a good matchup. I agree with it. Jason. Uh, I'm going to go with Drake May. Drake May has been playing really, really good football. I know last week he didn't have a good fantasy day, but he was outstanding. You saw this earlier in the year with games like from Dak Prescott where he was playing
great. You watch the film. You're like that. That's he's, he's playing good ball. Now he was the quarterback 29. And, but if you just know someone's playing good, the touchdowns will come. And then this matchup, um, is fantastic. The, you know, the saints have literally only held one of their opponents below their average. And that was Jackson dart who doesn't really have an average, right? You know, it's like that. So you can't even say whether he was above or below, uh, you're getting digs healthy. You have three weeks right now already inside the top 10, uh, for fantasy finishes for Drake
May. He's on pace for almost 400 rushing yards. I think he's a really good play, um, in a dome against the saints. And I am going to go with the adjusted expectations. I now have for Matthew Stafford. Yeah. Taking on the Baltimore Ravens. He already has the best wide receiver in football this year in Pukunukua. We knew how powerful that was, but it's time to just admit the fact that Devante Adams is a big upgrade over Cooper cup and what Cooper cup was doing at this juncture of his career. He's got two plus passing touchdowns in four straight games. He's been a top five fantasy quarterback in two straight weeks.
Not something you usually say about Matthew Stafford. And you can't just say, Hey, it's just lucky touchdown games. Cause he's leading the NFL in yardage. So Matthew Stafford is actually cooking right now. So let's not underestimate these two wide receivers and the power that they have in the offense. Oh, and they played the Baltimore defense. Yeah. Who's beat up and forgotten how to play defense. They're giving up 262 yards a game to opposing quarterbacks on average, which is the second worst in the league. Matthew Stafford is a great start. My running back star of the week. Bill, Bill, Bill, Bill, Bill, Bill.
Bill Kroski. Oh, I like it. I like it. Jason. I like it. He has not built a new list. I haven't built a new list. You might have your start of the week. You didn't come in with one. No, I actually expected it from you too. My, come on. You're the, you're the guy. Um, all right. Okay. Well, now that all the steam is gone, uh, Bill Kroski takes on Chicago. Last week we hit a 47% of the offensive snaps, but his workhorse usage in that time was a 31%. So 31% of the carries, the targets ends up with a big breakout running back four on the
