The Bengals have so much cap space. Yeah. And so that's kind of, that's your chance to do it. Yes. What were some of the public comments on the new name? I think publicly, you know, the public is pretty disappointed, which, of course, it would be impossible to not be disappointed after a two-year hiatus. Personally, I think it's pretty meh. Very disappointing. Now, there was the... What's their nickname? The commanders. No, I know, I know. But you, you know, the cards.

The Pats. The Niders. What do you call on the commander? The manders. The manders. They needed, and some people would say they needed benign. They needed to be boring. They needed a boring name. Mike, did you hate it too?

Yeah. Naming a team. Names are weird. Names are just a strange thing. All right. Here's some coaching hires. We will have a breakdown episode for the implications of all the new head coaches in time. But right now, quick hit opinions. Doug Peterson was hired as the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars, former Eagles head coach, brought Nick Foles to a Super Bowl, was instrumental in moving Carson Wins from being a rookie to an MVP candidate.

A lot of people in Philly I learned this week when this was being discussed, don't blame Doug Peterson, feel like it really was never his fault. So did you guys like this hire? Do you like it for Trevor Lawrence? Do you like it for some optimism? Originally I didn't like the hire because I know one of the criticisms for Doug Peterson was that he didn't develop the younger people behind the team that he inherited. But the truth is the Jaguars are going to go.

as Trevor Lawrence goes. That's it. If Trevor Lawrence is great, the Jaguars will be fine. If Trevor Lawrence is a bum, the Jaguars will suck. It doesn't matter who the head coach is other than the development of Trevor Lawrence. And, you know, when Carson Wentz was a rookie, Doug Peterson was the coach, and he took him from a rookie to an MVP candidate, like you said. So I think it is a fine hire. Did he do it or did Reich do it?

I mean, the team, right? Like, I'm sure it wasn't just any one person. It could have been other players on the roster. It could have been, you know, it's right. It takes a village, Mike. But Doug Peterson was a franchise quarterback. That's what they say. But Doug Peterson was the main man. I have done some thinking about the whole like, we're just so hyper-focused on this coach is good. This coach is bad. And then you look at a situation like Cincinnati.

and Zach Taylor. Okay, you can like him, you cannot like him. Look, Zach Taylor or any other person was never going to make Andy Dalton slash five backups stars. And they had two years there of failure, right? Yeah. And guess what? You get a quarterback. You're the best coach. Quarterbacks make the coach. Yeah, it really helps. Even early career stuff with some of the greats, the great coaches of all time, helps to have Tom Brady.

Kevin O'Connell, head coach of the Minnesota Vikings. He's the OC for the Rams coming over, bringing that perfume of McVeigh. Yes. It still smells very sweet to teams out there. Well, of course it does. You've got the Super Bowl. Yeah, both coaches in the Super Bowl. No, I'm not saying McVeigh is great, but I'm saying the.

Or you aim for youth, which the dolphins hired Mike McDaniel, 38 years old, is their next head coach, kind of a surprise, former 49ers offensive coordinator. He's been with Shanahan a long time, so he should bring that offense over there. I know if I had Jalen Waddle on my Dino Squad,

I'm super pumped right now. I think I'd be encouraged in general for all offensive pieces there that you'll get another shot at developing and building that offense with Tua. Callum Moore is expected to return to the Cowboys' offensive coordinator. I would have bet on him getting a job before Mike McDaniel, just based on the buzz. But he's going to go back. And that's good for some offensive stability for DAC. Lovie Smith, the new head coach of the Texans. Yep.

Going defense. So weird to me. Yeah, and he was their defensive coordinator. Did a great job with really limited personnel, but kind of came in late to the coaching carousel of interviews here, where Brian Flores, you also had Josh McCown. So then all of a sudden, Lovie Smith's your head coach again where he hasn't been a head coach in a while. Yeah, he's a good coach. It just is surprising to me.

that they let their one-year head coach go, who was part of this team. And then maybe there was other stuff behind the seas. It just seems weird to me that they would let him go. But Lovie Smith is a good head coach. Hopefully he works out well for the Texans. And the Bears hired head coach Matt Eberfluse. I think that's his name. Yeah. Over a week ago, we hadn't talked about it on the show yet, but that's another hire.

New head coaching changes all over the place. And beginning of March, we'll have a coaching changes episode with all the fallout and all the rest of the coordinator hires and things of that nature.
