Fantasy Football - Week 6 Matchups + SKATTEBOOOOM! - Podcast for 10/10

Okay. We're going to play this one. We have to. Schedule says. If you want to argue that somebody's been worse than Cam Ward this year, the argument's on the other side of the field. Yeah. Nine interceptions for Geno Smith. And taking sacks like crazy. He looks just washed. It is mind-blowing to me what has happened to Geno. Yeah. I mean, Geno Smith was a – I mean, his passer rating the last five preceding years, 94, 103, 100, 92, 93, 75 now. Which is the second lowest of his entire career going all the way back to how bad he was in New York.

That's what I mean. You didn't have to agree with me and be like, I think Geno's very good. He's played extremely well in Seattle. You could just be like, oh, he's fine. To go from that to what we are seeing is a catastrophic fallout. The question to me, like obviously he doesn't have Brock Bowers, and maybe he just gets better. This is a five-game sample. And one of those games, he – well, he was still bad. He threw three touchdowns to Trey Tucker in kind of garbage time, but he wasn't great playing in that game. But maybe he turns it around.

I mean, if he's going to, this is a great chance to do it. My worry – he's 35 years old. My worry is it's just over. I mean, Peyton Manning, you know, he went from being as great as you could be, you know, first ballot Hall of Famer in the conversation for best quarterback. And then all of a sudden when it was over – He had nerve damage. I was going to say, there's no athletic thing that I think is impacting Geno Smith. Yeah, it's his processing. Unless you're saying that he's got a brain deterioration situation. I mean, we all get older and stupider, you know.

Yeah. But the interceptions are out of control. So this offense is also starting to run more and more through Gentie. Tennessee, Tennessee's allowing the third most rushing yards per game this year. You always play Gentie right now. And then, you know, I don't really have the confidence in Jacoby Myers that I thought I was going to have with no Brock Bowers. Michael Mayer will be back. Trey Tucker gets a lot of targets. The offense, like I said, they throw the ball to Gentie a lot. I mean – Someone will have fantasy value, but you can't really dart throw. And you don't expect the fantasy value to be an incredible performance.

So this is Ashton Gentie, which is a great play. I mean, you said it. They're the third worst team against running backs. Last year, they were the worst. So this is just what we should expect is that Gentie will be able to run on the Titans. He's a must start. But I don't think I'm playing a single other Raider. Calvin Ridley had a big week last week. 15.6 fantasy points without a score. Are you buying back into Ridley after what he did against the Cardinals? Not yet. Okay. And Tony Pollard? You can still play him. The matchup says it's all right.

The work has been there. But the season low of snaps and percentage of carries, the moment that Tajay Spears was back, not that Spears was getting a ton of work. He played a quarter of the snaps, got four opportunities. But he, I think I'd rather watch and see what's going to happen to really, to the running backs, how it's going to shake out. Michael Carter, you'd play over Tony Pollard then? Every week, Tony Pollard's phrase on the show is, you can play him. Yeah. It's never like you get to. Tony Pollard feels like basically you're going to get 10 fantasy points.

And there's a place for that. There's a place like, hey, I'll plug 10 points in on my flex and you'll be fine. This isn't the scariest matchup against the Raiders. They're going to need him. They're going to use him. So I think he's a flex option. You can play him. Yeah. Exactly. Cincinnati and Joe Flacco, two and three. They travel to Lambeau. What a nice treat for Joe Flacco. Just get off the plane. Here's the playbook. Figure it out and go to Green Bay. Get back on a plane. Yeah. Green Bay's two, one and one. And the line is Green Bay minus 14.

Hmm. Now, two weeks ago, we saw Flacco play against Green Bay. Don't care. Get through for 142 yards. Yeah. Different defense, different offensive line. And 142 yards. Wow. The over-under is 44 and a half, which means that Green Bay has an implied point total. It's got to be the highest on the week. 29.3. Seems so. And Cincinnati's at 15 points. He's like Joe Flacco. Let's just really quickly reprise what we said at the beginning of the week. He's been statuesque and turnover prone so far. It's really going to be hard to expect him to come in here and be productive from a yardage perspective against this pass rush with a brand new offense.

I would expect him to try to protect him a little bit in his first game, which means maybe a lot of inefficient opportunities for Chase Brown. And Jamar Chase. I think there's going to be a lot of screens in this game trying to get the ball out quick and into a playmaker's hand and do something. It does let me have hope for Chase Brown's future, that maybe the screen game work that he will get will be a little bit more efficient. Better timed on the passes, better placement on the ball, allowing him to do something. Do you like gross questions?

I love them. No. Oh, Mike does. Okay, Mike. If you had to lock in Chase Brown or Ramondre Stevenson into your lineup. For this week? Nope. For the rest of the season. Oh, that's unfair. I told you it was gross. One team you like a lot, right? New England, you kind of like the direction. Which one would you do? They are. Are they back to back in your rest of the season rankings? In my rest of the season rankings, Chase Brown's at one spot ahead of Ramondre Stevenson. And what spots are those? 32 and 33. Okay. Well, then maybe the question is irrelevant.

They are back to back in mine. No, what? They are 32 and 33. However, I have Ramondre one spot ahead. Interesting. So, you're going to Ramondre. You're a big Ramondre guy. Huge, obviously. Yeah. Ramondre is huge, obviously. Okay. Jamar Chase, you talked about it. Are we waiting and watching on T. Higgins right now? He's been unstartable. Yeah. I mean, I prefer to. Against the Packers defense with... You play Jacoby Myers. You'd play Matthew Golden. You'd play Romeo Dobbs. Those three ahead of him? The... I think I've... I'm open to it. The guys... This is just... This is the matchup you want players.

It won't work out for all of them, but you got to... You got to get some tickets to this game of 24th against quarterbacks, 32nd against running backs, 20th against wide receivers, 32nd against tight ends. This is like... You're saying the Packers side you'd like... Yeah, yeah, yes. You'd like a ticket on that side. Yes, this is where multiple guys for the Green Bay Packers will go off this week. They're implied for 30 points. They might smash that. This is literally the team where you take a shot on anyone. Obviously, Jacobs is in. Could be good for Golden. Yep, exactly.

Got a bye week. You're coming out of a bye week. Golden, Dobbs. If you are a big underdog and you've dealt with injuries, just go get Dontavian Wicks off of waivers and be like, I'll throw him out there and see if he can catch a bomb touchdown. I mean, Tucker Kraft... Played 77% of snaps before the bye, Dontavian Wicks. Yeah, so I think Mike's right. This is... The big one to notice and pay attention to is Rams at Baltimore. We have current models are projecting a decent amount of rain and then wind. Where with like 15 and gusts to 25 and 30. That's the bigger issue. Now, we talked about Stafford. He's the start of the week.

You got to pay attention to it. Yeah. You can pivot. Yeah. You might need to pivot. And Mike on Sunday Live will give you the latest breakdown. Like the rain, I don't really care. That's fine. Go out and play in the rain. But if you have rain plus gusts up to 25 miles an hour, that's sketchy. Yeah. But statistically speaking, when wind crosses 15 miles an hour, that's like if it's windy and it's 12 miles an hour... It's fine. ...the passing game doesn't usually take a noticeable hit. When it's over 15 miles an hour, you start running the ball more, having...

You know, the actual statistics that we care about in fantasy football, they start taking a massive hit to the passing game. And I'm not going to say like you have to pivot right this moment because weather patterns change. Which I'm seeing sub-15 mile an hour winds on my model over here, but it's close and it's... Just be prepared. Yes. Have somebody on the roster. Even if you don't pick them up now, just look at the waivers and say, okay, I'm going to pivot to this guy if the weather looks awful that morning. Like pivot to Mack Jones and the 49ers who are 4-1 traveling to Tampa to take on the Buccaneers.

Tampa minus three over under 47 and a half. Baker Mayfield. He's been a top 12 quarterback in four of five weeks. It's... It's wild. He is... He's not on the, you know, insane touchdown pace of last year. Like he's been a tremendously great quarterback, but his touchdown pace is 34. I think he was at 40 plus... 41, 42 last year. So... 41. 41? Yeah. So like, I mean, it's nice. He's giving you like... Like last week was a great one, obviously. He was the quarterback three on the week. But I don't know. There's still some ceiling for him when he gets more weapons back.

I don't know if that'll be this week in particular, but it's been a really impressive season. A lot of injuries. No Bucky Irving. No Mike Evans. No Chris Godwin. We've talked a lot about this already. You play Emeka Abuka and you play him with confidence. I think he is my number four wide receiver on the week. With a smile in your heart. Yeah. It's just getting better. Like we... When a rookie has tremendous success early, you still... Like if they're not having success, we come on the show and we say, well, it takes them a while to get going. Mm-hmm.

Stay patient. And that implies you learn more. Right? You see opposing defenses. You see things you've never seen. I mean, Jackson Dart, they asked him yesterday, you know, what's the process? He's like, I'm learning every day. I see defensive coverages that change every day. The players that are already playing well now, they can continue to learn and get better and learn about, you know, that rapport he's building with his quarterback is five games in. It's going to be great for him. Rashad White, tons of opportunities. He's in your lineup. What about, you know, we talked about Otten. Is there anybody else in this lineup?

Not from Tampa Bay? Yes. No. And then on the other side... I mean, like, if you want to get super nasty, it would be Sterling Shepard. But I am... Super nasty. It's super nasty. Yeah. So far on the season, the 49ers have been pretty good against wide receivers. So I think, yeah, Rashad White, Bucky, Ibuka, Otten, that's enough to fill your belly. I'd be playing Juwan Jennings or Kendrick Bourne over someone like Shepard. Yeah, I would too. And unfortunately, we might not get a lot from either one if they play together. And we have Demarcus Robinson still out there. Jake Tonjes, they're on the road here.

Mack Jones, he is banged up. He should be their starter. Christian McCaffrey feels very safe this week. Oh, man. Every week? Well, Tonjes feels like, you know, he's pretty safe in terms of some targets. For McCaffrey, the Bucs have allowed the third most receiving yards per game to running backs. Oh. Uh-oh. Hmm. It's wild because McCaffrey – Over, under, nine and a half receptions for Christian McCaffrey. If you told me they were the best team in the league against running backs who catched the ball, I would not care. But this one is just like extra tasty. Yeah, it is extra tasty.

Is Mack Jones a viable streamer? I mean, 27th against quarterbacks. The Buccaneers have given up a lot of points. Viable, yeah. Mack Jones has been good in his starts. It's really tough because you've got two top ten performances out of his three current starts, and the matchup says yes. But I do worry about the injury. I was watching both of these players practice this week, and we still got, you know, several days to go, and obviously, Mack Jones. I mean, what a man. After that game, most quarterbacks would have gone on IR. For sure. But that is my worry here with Mack Jones, is simply just like, I've got the injury worry.

Yep. I think he could be a – I don't know what the game times are. Let me see. Sunday, 425 Eastern. When's the Baltimore game? Do we have that one? When you think about pivot options in a league where a lot of quarterbacks are rostered, maybe he would be one for Stafford. For the Stafford? If Stafford's weather was terrible. Let's see. Where is the – I can – B-A-L for Baltimore. Ravens are 1 p.m. Eastern. Thank you. So you'll know the weather there. Yeah. You could use Mack Jones as a pivot. Detroit, 4-1 Sunday night football going to Kansas City to take on the Chiefs.

Oh, my. That is awesome. The Chiefs are favored. Two-and-a-half point home favorites in this game. Over-under is 52.5. We've – Woo-hoo. Is there a – Oh, yeah. Hit it. Wait. What do you want me to hit? Oh, I thought you – I was looking for something to talk about the 52.5 point. I thought you were going to almost upset it. Oh. Oh, no. No, no, no. I already did that. Okay. I was just looking for a boom shakalaka or something. No, I can't find it. 52.5 point over-under, though. Boom shakalaka. Yeah. There it is. I'm surprised we can get a 55 there.

Oh, you mean because Al's yesterday? Yeah. All right. The Lions and Chiefs. Here we go. Mahomes has been very good for fantasy. He's got – the question mark was Avery Worthy, but Taequann Thornton, Hollywood Brown, Travis Kelsey. Maybe it's better not to say the names he's throwing to and just take the rushing yardage from Patrick Mahomes these days. Yeah. I mean, Patrick Mahomes is a good start. You know in a high-over-under game where he's going to have to make something happen and he doesn't have the weapons to throw to, it's probably going to be him on the ground that is making up the fantasy value.

Taequann Thornton is a legitimate startable player. You know, we would talk about, you know, the Kendrick Bournes or Juwan Jennings. I feel like Taequann Thornton is right there. You've got games with five targets, five targets, and nine targets. If Xavier Worthy is out – Yeah, that's the big one. Yeah, and this is assuming that Worthy is not going to play. He might suit up and then he's more of a dart throw. But if Worthy is out, Taequann Thornton becomes really just a legitimate flex option. Yeah, the Lions are missing a couple of top cornerbacks, and you always have a touchdown chance.

Thornton has been a touchdown or 90 yards and four straight. Amon Ra, lock him in. If you – where are you with Jameson Williams in this matchup? In the fetal position. Yeah. Weeping? Crying. In a closet. He's had a – That's a bad thing, right? Yeah, I mean it's been – Because how do you – 52.5 point over under, they're road dogs. They're going to have to throw. If you want him to get a season roll and just bench him. That's about how it feels with Jameson Williams. Man, two weeks ago, eight targets. And they were – the ADOT was just so crazy.

It seemed like he could have had eight touchdowns in that game. I had none. It's so crazy because I feel fine starting Taequann Thornton, but scared starting Jameson Williams. Jameson Williams is the better player. Well, I think that basically I feel the same about them, and that's terrifying for me with Jameson Williams, which is basically you feel like you need a big play from one of those guys. You need a touchdown. You're not going to get – like Taequann Thornton's not going to PPR his way to success. So Jameson feels like the same category for right now, so maybe you'd take a break if you need it.

But the high over under, you like pieces in a game like that. Yes, you do. You certainly can start Jameson Williams. Process says that Jameson Williams is a fine start. It's just difficult emotionally when he has been bad in four or five games. Gibbs and Monty in your lineup. Sam Laporta, how are we feeling about Laporta body? Still fine. Yeah, last week was – There's no reason not to play Laporta right now. Five for 92 and a touchdown last week. There's where Jameson Williams' activity went. Yeah, it's not a very good matchup. Like tight ends are – you know, that might give you more confidence in Jameson Williams

knowing that Jameson Williams and Sam Laporta, these are these guys that honestly, if they were needed, if they were like, I have to get this guy the ball seven, eight times a game, and they could. And I think both would succeed. Sam Laporta's great. They just don't always need him, and I think matchups don't always dictate that. This is a matchup where you're still starting Sam Laporta, but it's not somewhere where you're bullish that they're going to really rely on Laporta here. So maybe it does go Jameson's way. The Chiefs are number one in the NFL in pass rate over expectation.
