It's obvious. I'm not going to pretend like somebody's going to compete with you. Joe Burroughs, same story. Here you have Jalen Hertz. Why not just tell Jalen Hertz he's the guy? Maybe that's old-fashioned coaching. It is. It's real, it's old school NFL head coach stuff of making them earn it. And look, maybe a quarterback falls in the draft to their position. That would be bad to say Jalen Hertz today and then a quarterback falls. But it wouldn't.

Because you could say Jalen Hertz is a starting quarterback. And then if you draft someone with the reporters, you told us that Jalen Hertz was going to be your start. You're like, yeah, he was. And now this guy's going to start for us. What is, I don't get these types of motivational tactics. I much prefer the, yes, Jalen Hertz is our guy. Does that happen more with brand new head coaches? Apparently. They come into a new team and they just don't want to declare anything.

They want to let everybody know that you're all, you know, I'm the new guy. I've never seen film before. I want to see it on the field. You know, Nick Seriani was the one that is going around and is interviewing these college players. Do you hear what he's doing with him? He's playing paper rock scissors. That was him too? That was him too because he wants to see how competitive there. They're a competitive spirit. So we're going to paper rocks. I mean, he is next level, guys. Can you imagine being like.

Going through that process, it's already scary enough. Remember when you were that old and you're interviewing for the, you're taking the most important job interviews of your life. And then someone says, hey, let's play paper rock scissors. Are you really going to like go all out and show your competitive spirit at that moment? My chance is here. Only if you want to be a Philadelphia Eagle. Come on, man. Maybe Joe Flacco is really competitive.

Pour one out for another great fantasy football player who, unfortunately, we didn't really get to see the ceiling from Jordan Reed was going. He was on track to just be an absolute stud. Mike Tomlin, three-year contract extension. He, I believe, is beginning his 15th season. I love this. I absolutely. I absolutely.

I love any team that keeps their coach more than about three years. Yes, 100%. And the writing is on the wall that Pittsburgh's going to have a hard time coming up. They have the oldest Big Ben they've ever had who played poorly last year. They have the worst offensive line they ever had in recent history. I think they're, you know, third place in this division.

And they go and they say, hey, we're going to extend him three years now because they know what the media is going to be like. I mean, we know every single year. It's like, oh, Mike Tomlin didn't win a Super Bowl. We should fire him. Mediocre signing of the wig. Was that for Tomlin? No. Oh, I was like, that's so rude. The 49ers have signed former Giants running back, Wayne Galman. That's better. Wayne Galman, now San Francisco 49er, part of that backfield.

With Rahim Mostert and company. I honestly think Galman's a fine player. He's a fine replacement. Is he better or worse than Kevin Coleman? Better. Okay. One more bit of news. I guess we have to bring up. Alabama wide receiver. Heisman winner. Devanta Smith. Official weigh in. Six foot 166. 166. That sounds like my junior year of high school. Yeah. Did you?

But I was probably 155. In the NFL. No, I didn't. But Deshaun Jackson did and Marvin Harrison did. End of list. So is his official comp those inflatables at the, at car dealerships? He can move so fast. He's swift like the wind and he weighs 160. And if you're not careful, the wind might take him away.

Yeah, I mean, this is, we already knew that he was a light, skinny, framed wide receiver. That's been the offseason narrative of whether you believe in Devante Smith or you don't. I mean, that's literally it. Yes. It's it. You don't believe in Devonza Smith. You have one reason. And it's he's too thin to succeed in the NFL. Our show, each one of us individually do not believe that.

Correct. And I firmly don't believe that because I've just never seen a better. He's so perfect as a wide receiver on the field. He knows how to get off of press. He finds the zone. His football IQ is through the roof. He's outstanding. So this is really going to be telling to me if he fails. I just don't. It doesn't bother me one bit what he weighs in it. This is like if we all sat down and we watched Jason just destroy a triple cheeseburger and then after the fact, we're like, you know what, Jason's.

Too full to have eaten that cheeseburger. No, you just ate it. Devanta Smith just dominated his senior season with numbers nobody's put up for 20 years, 23 touchdowns, 1,800-plus yards. If you don't think that the SEC is competitive, I don't know what you're watching. Like, somebody's going to pass on him because of this. That will happen. Yep. I hope he makes them regret it. And I hope that that triple cheeseburger goes his way.

because he's going to need to put some weight on. Marvin Harrison, I bring him up only because when he was leaving college and he weighed in and he was coming into the NFL, he was about 6 feet 170. His playing weight was 180, 185. Similar criticism to Hollywood Brown. Deshaun Jackson was underweight. I know you don't have a laundry list of superstars at that weight class, but I trust eyeballs and skill and ability. And so I'm not going to get with BMI Twitter on this one.

I agree. Unless, you know, I'm wrong. And then later on, I'll... I mean, this is, this will be a lesson to be learned if we're wrong here. But I believe he is a true outlier and I'm sticking with the talent. Yeah. You know, before we move on here, this, this... What else you're sticking with, Jason? Oh, I'm sticking with the meat.

All right, early wide receiver rankings part two. Yesterday, or I'm sorry, on Tuesday, we had part one, Devante Adams, Tyree Kills, Stefan Diggs, DeAndre Hopkins, A.J. Brown, Calvin Ridley, Michael Thomas, Justin Jefferson, Julio Jones, and D.K. Metcalfe. We're the top 10 as of right now. Number 11, Keenan Allen of the Los Angeles Chargers.

I have him at 12 on my rankings right now. Jason at 14. Mike at 9. Last year played 14 games, 147 targets, 100 receptions on the dot, 992 yards and 8. He kind of played 14. Well, Mike was paying close attention to a certain game that he... There was an incident. He warmed up. Mike was in on him. Oh, no, he was in on him. That's right. Yeah, Keenan, now, Keenan, uh... Don't sit me. Don't sit me.

Sit him. You should have sat him. He's been a top 14 fantasy-wide receiver in each of the past four seasons. Elite route runner. We know Keenan Allen, the player, is one of the best in football. I think that that's been established. It's been proven. He had the fifth highest target share, so you know he's going to be targeted a lot. Justin Herbert, upcoming young quarterback. New head coach this year, new offensive coordinator. I honestly think the biggest question, especially with where he ranks on our consensus.

be okay with him as my wide receiver one he's the archetype that i prefer a guy that's going to get for my wide receiver one a guy that's going to get a ton of targets and receptions um you know he he might not be the touchdown machine have the great monstrous days to just completely win you the week but i i do like the hyper targeted guys uh we don't know what's going to happen with their weapons yet but obviously they have

firmly lost Hunter Henry. And the offensive line is improved. I'm on record here of saying I think that the upgrade on defense from just being healthy is going to be significant to lowering the passing game output. And I think that's kind of what's seeping into my negative ranking on Keenan Allen. But this is nothing against the player. He's awesome. The quarterback's great. And I think I would be fine with him.
