tight end. He has been an excellent run blocker. Ladarius, on the other hand, was signed immediately for a big contract when the news was coming out to that team that Martavis was being suspended. They wanted him to come in and be an offensive weapon. We've seen Jesse James as a successful fantasy tight in. He's got three touchdowns on the season.

144 passagesSo, you know, they want to use that position. And the truth is green is a far better pass catching, big, strong athletic guy over Jesse James. So, yeah, I think green is worth a stash right now. All right. So we've got the, we got the fantasy forecast coming up in the starts of the week. And like I said, I'm going to talk a little bit about Jamal Charles later on. I agree. He's a huge question mark because I've, you know, there are decisions you make in fantasy football every year. And people who make.
make them and they get them right, they can define and change your own season. If you can go buy Jamal Charles and he's going to be Jamal Charles, you might win your season because you're going to trade less than what, you know, you'd pay for a premium running back right now. So I'm looking forward to talking about that. We just had another draft yesterday. We certainly did. Because we do this every week. Now, I want to get an actual vote on Twitter for this because... That's not fair.
Well, because you're to you guys. All right. It's not fair to you guys. I clearly got the best team. Every single week, we play draft. Now, draft is a, it's an app for your phone. You can download it. It's free. And what's nice is, you know, we spend months talking about the draft season. I mean, literally months talking about drafting. Everybody loves the draft. It's the best night of the year. Yeah. So what's nice is we get to every week have another draft against each other. We do a league where it's like 1 v1.
So me versus Mike versus Jason. And you draft five players. And it's kind of a quick hitting draft inside the app. And so we drafted ours yesterday like we normally do for this Sunday. I want to vote. I want to know who the listeners think has the best team. Here's my team. Cam Newton, Shady McCoy, David Johnson, AJ Green, Amari Cooper for this one. All right. Let me tell them the winning team. Okay. The winning team is Drew Brees at home with.
Levy on Bell, DeMarco Murray with his juicy matchup. I love it. Kelvin Benjamin, I did that because you have Cam, and so I'm playing against you. When he throws all his touchdowns to Cam, he's throwing him to Cam. He's throwing him to Cam. That's good. Good insight. Kelvin. And then Odell Beckham, because I still believe. Those teams are fine. That's his dad, though, right? Those teams are fine, but the winning team. Look, my team. I'm going with the Carson Palmer John Brown stack.
I'm going with Lamar Miller and C.J. Anderson. I have some bold proclamations for Lamar Miller coming up a little bit later. And, of course, Antonio Brown, the best was fantasy wide receiver in the game. I can see a strong narrative for either, for any of these teams. I will admit, seeing Love Bell and DeMarco Murray on Jason's roster does not make me. I'm not happy about it. It does not make me happy. But I don't know. I think Cam, I think Cam can come out, blow it up.
So we'll see who wins this week. I assume we're in water betting again. Oh, yeah. That's what's fun about winner take all. Like the draft versus, you know, say salary cap is like, I drafted Kelvin Benjamin because you had camp. You know, there's that draft strategy that's enjoyable preseason. So yeah. So if you're playing with us, it's been fun so far this year. If not, just grab the app. It's completely free. Put in ballers when you sign up, though, because it'll auto add you to our leagues.
with us and all the other listeners so it's kind of nice we had them build that in for us so it's nice and easy grab the draft we say hey draft that's ios and android chop chop so or hook it up playdraft dot com slash ballers oh yeah yeah so all right um we're going to talk fantasy forecast now sound good yes get into these guys fantasy forecast before we get into the forecast just a quick bye week reminder
Minnesota and Tampa Bay are not playing this week. Next week, Carolina and Dallas are on by. And then week eight and week nine, prepare your body. The biopocalypse is coming. Because it is happening. Week eight, Baltimore, the Rams, Dolphins, Giants, Steelers, San Francisco are up by. Week nine, Cardinals, Bears, Bengals, Texans, Patriots.
Washington. Week 9 has been the week in all my teams. It just so happens that the guys I drafted, I looked at my team two weeks ago, and I had two of my starting guys were available for me to play in week nine. Do you think the NFL has ever just thought about the fact that, like, you just take one week off in the middle of the year for all the teams? You know, you play eight. No way would they do that. You play eight, you take a week off, you play eight more? No. What if they could get an extra game in the regular season that way?
Maybe. Because there is an aspect of like, you can't take a week off. There's an aspect of fairness, though, is to win teams get to take their week. I agree with you. I think the current buy system is just stupid. Like, why do you have some teams getting a buy week in week 13, which is ridiculous and some in week four? That's what I mean. And they've rumored, like, if they were to add a game or two of the regular season, they've talked about two buys. Yes. So that makes sense.
But I'm just saying, I've had a lot of people, you know, hey, I'm going to trade away my depth for this player. And that's good. If you had, upgrade your starting roster. But make sure you're looking at week eight and week nine that you can actually fill a starting lineup. If you had two buys, you'd start to have to think about that a lot for your teams. Like if that ever came to fruition. So any quick updates for tonight's game before we get into the rest of the matchups? We talked about the Cardinals. I'm sorry, not the Cardinals. We talked about the Chargers.
And Denver on yesterday's show. We mentioned Virgil Green will play tonight. And all accounts have Trevor Simeon playing tonight. No, no huge news. I do think Emmanuel Sanders has a very good game. His home road splits for touchdowns are incredibly different. So I think he's got a good chance getting in the end zone tonight.
All right, let's move on. The 49ers traveled to Buffalo to take on the bills. Colin Kaepernick is back behind center for San Francisco. Carlos Hyde has been very consistent for fantasy owners this year because he just has such a workload. And he's been good. He gets into the end zone. They do enough on offense. But I think you can kind of throw an aspect of what you've seen from San Francisco into the win now. Because, you know, Jeremy Curley, much talked about number one receiver. Is he still with Colin Kaepernick?
Do they run read option with Colin Kaepernick and let him take off with the ball? Does that help Carlos High? You know, these are the questions that are coming to mind for me. The bills are right now, their defense is on fire. You know, they're 13th against the run, 17th against the past on the year, but they've won three straight games, right? Three straight. Including a shutout in that mix. They're at home. The 49ers have to go completely across the country. Right.
Yeah, I mean, Buffalo is at home on a winning street. Great defense. I know a couple of us have Buffalo is the highest ranked defense this week. Oh, yeah. I mean, it's been a while since the bills have been favored by eight points. And, you know, I think they're going to cover. I think I would take the over on their line. Very interesting. I get a lot of the questions of Colin Kaepernick, is he an upgrade, a downgrade for Carlos Hyde? What do you guys think?
I don't think he's a downgrade. I don't necessarily think he's an upgrade, though, either. I think, you know, you have to take the pressure off of Kaepernick if he struggles. I think Hyde's going to get the ball. It's not like Gabbard. I mean, Gabbro was putting up pretty terrible numbers. I mean, I don't think it's a downgrade, but I also think that there are certain things that happen, and we can talk all about all the potential, but what's the actionable fantasy football reality here? You're not benching Carlos Hyde.
You're not changing what you're doing with Hyde, and you're not playing anybody else on that team. I was going to say, I think the actionable thing is the question of do I stay in the flames with Jeremy Curley? The answer right now should be no. He might be great, but he could be completely unused because there's a new quarterback. So on the other side of the ball, we talked about Charles Clay. I think he's a great, great play this week. Could have been my start of the week this week. The San Francisco 49ers are atrocious against the tight-in. That's good for...
Tyrod Taylor in this game. I think LaShawn McCoy is going to... He's going to eat a full honeybaked ham. He's going to swim upstream like the slippery fish he is. Slippery salmon? Yeah. Go right through the 49ers. So for me, I even like Robert Woods in this game. I'm starting bills in this game. I'm only starting Carlos. I will say this for Jeremy Curley. I don't have the confidence to start him this week. But the way I've seen Colin Kaepernick play quarterback in the past, assuming he keeps the job.
he makes one read. Yeah. If Jeremy Curley is the first read, the predominant amount of the time, that Jeremy Curley is still going to be great for PPR and Flexless. I want to see, though, if that's going to be Vance McDonald or Garrett-Sellick. Here's all you do know, and it's a sad truth. Tori Smith isn't going to catch a lot of passes. That's what you've learned from his time in San Francisco. So do you guys have other thoughts on this game? Nope. No. All right. Before we grab.
We're going to jump into Jaguars Bears. I do want to thank today's sponsor. Seat Geek, look, it is the literal first place we go for tickets for a game or for a concert.
This past week, Brooks, our production coordinator, grabbed some Red Wing tickets on Sea Geek. It was his first time using the app. They give you $20 back if you use it your first time. We used it last night. Well, I was going to say yesterday. Promote, you got to put your promo code in footballers. Right, right. But yesterday, Mike and I said, hey, let's go to the Monday night game. Yeah. And then, like, two minutes later, we had awesome tickets at a great price.
on Seekkeek. And so that's no lie. That's the first place that we go to look for tickets. We've got it on the phone. We use it all of the time. And tons of our listeners have used it and loved it as well because they make it so easy. So to get your $20 rebate, like we said before, on tickets, go to your app store, download the free Seat Geek app, go to the Settings tab, click the add a promo code. That's what you got to do. And then you put the promo code in footballers, and they'll send you $20 back. So for instance, yesterday.
I think we can just say we bought some, what, middle, upper deck tickets, $49 a piece to see the Cardinals and the Jets on Monday Night Football, and Mike's going to get $20 back because he hadn't used it on your account. I always buy him through the company. This time you used your own account. And you're going to get $20 back on that. So download the free Seek app. Enter the promo code Footballers today. And let's talk about Jaguars and the Bears. Let's do it.
Do we expect this to be a game that, now the Bears last week was the first week. I think they gave up 300 yards to Andrew Luck. It was kind of a high-flying, high yardage total type of game. The over under Vegas has for this one this week is 47, but it's in Chicago. Do the Bears keep Bordles under 300? Hmm. I think that they do. I would agree. I would agree. I mean, I know you have Jacksonville coming off of the buy week, but.
You have confidence in my friend Gus Bradley after a week of extra preparation? I don't. I don't know if he's taking a week of preparation. I think he might just be taking a week off. Yeah. Well, he's going to have a lot more weeks off if he doesn't start winning ballgame. This is a really interesting game because you have Vegas with a pretty high line in this game. 47 points total is what they're expecting to be scored as the over-under.
But you have two teams here in the Bears and the Jaguars that have both given up so few yards through the air that it's really surprising. Last week coming in, we talked about the Bears hadn't given up 250 through the air so far on the season. Well, neither have the Jags. That kind of blows me away. But two bottom-dwelling teams when they play each other, it's not too uncommon for them to kind of just go back and forth scoring.
So this is a game hard, hard to read. You certainly have plenty of options, right? I'm saying despite the Jaguars, they're not allowing a bunch of yards. They are allowing a lot of passing touchdowns. So I still have confidence to roll out Hoyer. He was Jason's stream of the week. I like him. Well, Hoyer's my start of the week. I'll just tell you that right now. Oh, spoiler. Yeah. Because look, we're talking about this game. Hoyer's got three straight weeks of 300 yards and two touchdowns. And.
He's doing it without turning the ball over. One turnover in three games on a fumble, no interceptions. The question I have for you guys is what do people do with Alshan Jeffrey, Eddie Royal, and Cam Meredith? Because Meredith last week came out, had his first full-time gig, so to speak, opposite of Alshan. We looked at the numbers on Alshan in the three weeks that Hoyer was quarterback. I believe he was third and fourth in targets on the team. This is a guy in Hoyer that takes the sure thing.
