Fantasy Football Podcast 2016 - Week 6 Matchups, Daily Dose, In-or-Out

I was going to ask you guys, like, who do you think has a better game here, fantasy-wise, between Forte and Blow Powell? And then I thought, I wonder who I have. I went and looked, and I was surprised. I actually have Powell in PPR formats ahead of Matt Forte in this game. That's good, because he's outscored Forte in the past three games in PPR formats. Yeah, I mean, it's one of those things that.

You know, owners need to be aware of. I think Powell is a startable player in a PPR this week. You can beat the Arizona Cardinals in that screen game while they're so blitz happy. Before we get into the daily dose, I have a few bits of not necessarily breaking news, but updates on what we said earlier, because we're recording this on Friday morning. Steve Smith did miss practice again. I'm sure he's going to be out. Theoretic missed again on Friday.

And so that is not, you know, he could play without practice, but that's not a good sign. And then Jason Garrett came out and said he is not so sure that Des Bryant will play in week six against the Packers. And so very questionable, Des Bryant. So I don't know if we actually answered this question. If Des Bryant plays, are you taking that risk in starting him? I probably am. No, I don't think, I think if you're a team right now that is.

that needs a wide receiver that's okay but i think you've probably made arrangements on your roster since des has been out for most of the season that i probably give him another week i mean if he's active yeah i probably don't do it i'd prefer to give him the other week but i would flex him for sure uh duane washington by the way for the lions did return to practice and so um you would expect at dwayne washington justin for set timeshare

in that backfield this weekend if Theo Riddick is off the field and if Riddick is, you know, even if he's limited, you're probably going to see all three of those guys on the field. You know, not too excited, but, you know, you can take a waiver wire shot in the dark on one of them. Sure. We're going to go ahead and get into the Daily Dose, talk some DFS, some fan duels, some guys that you can start this week, maybe some good values. Absolutely. A Daily Dose.

The fantasy footballers are very excited to bring back Chris Meaney fresh from his vacation, tearing it up there for the Fantasy Sports Network. How are you doing today, Chris? Good, guys. Thanks for having me. Not a good time to take vacation here like week five of the season. But I'm back. I'm ready to rock. Well, I hope you're refreshed. I hope your football brain is firing on all cylinders because we're going to talk some fan dual picks. Let's start at the top. Let's start with the quarterback. You paying up. Are you cheaping out? What are you doing?

Well, last week I paid up for Brady, but it was a bit of a discount. He was under $8,000. This week he's the most expensive quarterback, but I have no problems rolling him out there. You're just going to have to find some value elsewhere. I'm sure we'll talk about a couple guys. Brady at the top $9,000. I know Big Ben struggles a little bit away from home. I know they only put up three points, I believe in Philadelphia, that one road game, but I have no problem with Big Ben. When those three guys, the triple Bs, Ben, Bell and Brown, the last three years when all three of them are playing.

Pittsburgh, they just roll. There are 11 games over 500 compared to only one over 500, and one of them is missing. So I have no problem with Big Ben. Down the list, you can save some money, though. Drew Brees is $8,500, the sixth most expensive quarterback. Carolina can't stop anybody. Russell Wilson coming out off the buy at home against Atlanta. That's not bad. I think that could be a sneaky play, too, where not a lot of people would play him, so it's not a bad tournament play.

And then Bortles down the list, $7,800 against Chicago. This seems like a good match. If I know he struggles away from home on the road, I believe he only has like one win in the last year or so on the road. But I do like him that spot. And then Carson Wentz is not bad at $7,500 too in Washington. I don't mind those plays. You can cheap out a little bit at the quarterback position, but certainly Brady, he deserves to be right at the top. Love it. Let's move over to the running back position. How are you handling yourself when it comes to running backs?

Well, Bell, Murray, McCoy, they just all seem just so safe. Every week I just roll out Murray and I just, I get exactly what I've gotten from them from week one. It's just consistency.

He's second league and touches. He just gets it done every single week. I like this matchup a lot. Elliot's got a bit of a tough one against Green Bay. They're only allowing 2.0 yards per carry. That's the best in football. So it's interesting to see how he's going to turn out. This has to be a Lamar Miller week, doesn't it, guys? I mean, he hasn't scored yet. I mean, let's see it from Lamar Miller against the Colts. He's still getting a lot of touches and opportunity, and he's still getting fantasy points, double digits every time out.

But let's see him get in the end zone. I think this is finally the week, $7,900. Jamal Charles says he's 110% training camp. The training wheels are off of him. He's ready to go against Oakland. I don't think he's going to get a lot of carries, but I do expect like seven to eight targets from this guy. And a lot of people could shy away from him. I think he's a good tournament play. Ingram back-to-back games now with a touchdown. What I like about Ingram, just coming off, I know they're coming off a buy, but in the last game.

He had a receiving touchdown. He's got 10 receptions, 13 targets in his last two games. I mean, Carolina, they're just having issues stopping anybody. Sticking with maybe just sneaky plays that not a lot of people are going to play in tournaments. Ryan Matthews, $6,500 against Washington. I know he had a fumble. This is a really good matchup for him, though. And James White, $5,700 against Sinci, 10.9 Fandul points last week, six targets, four catches. That's what you're going to get from White as long as Dionne Lewis is not around. He's going to be involved in that passing game. That's what you want on Fandul.

Love it. Moving over to the wide receivers. Are you crazy enough to start Julio Jones? Are you going to pay up for that stud this week against Seattle? No, absolutely not. I'm not going to do it.

I know he's dinged up a little bit. We saw what Denver was able to do, just take him away. I expect the same thing. Seattle, I believe they've only given up one touchdown through the year. And this is not a good matchup for Julio and the Falcons. But I'm going to pay up even higher than him, $8,600 compared to $85. Alan Robinson, I like this a lot. I like Bortles and Robinson against Chicago. I'm willing to pay up there. And then Calvin Benjamin, been a bit quiet lately.

But Cam Newton expected to come back. $7,800. The Saints just continue to pick on this team. They're not very good. And Baldwin, same thing with Atlanta. Secondary, a little bit shaky. They're giving up a lot of points of quarterbacks and wide receivers. I like to put Doug Baldwin in there. And just sticking with that New Orleans and Carolina game, Cooks, a little bit more expensive than Sneed. You're going to save $500 if you want to go Sneed. Michael Thomas is the guy who leads that team and catches. $5,400. You're going to save some money there. Again, just continuing down the list.

I think some sneaky plays in tournaments. Funches hasn't been, he's been invisible, really. He's got one touchdown, but he hasn't got a whole lot of looks. Him, check if coach is going to play. Big Ben is taking deep shots all the time with this guy. He's basically like Martavis Brian 2.0 in terms of just taking shots. He's very speedy. I know he drops half those balls, but the other ones he's reeling him in for touchdowns. Hogan, much of the same thing. Brady is just taking deep shots. And then this could be a Kamara Aiken week, guys. Yeah, finally.

We've been waiting to see Khmer Aiken. I mean, he's only got a handful of targets, six catches. So the Giants have just had issues covering everybody in the slot. We saw Randall Cobb finally have a week last week. I think Aiken could step into this role. I know Wallace is still practicing with a non-contact jersey. Steve Smith, probably not going to suit up in this game. So it could be Aiken, $5,200 in the flip side. I'm going to roll out paramed in tournaments as well. $4,900. I think it's worth a shot.

all right for the tight end let me give you one name i want to see if you have the madness if you're willing to start this guy into tournament let's say jordan reed is out are you going niles paul in that situation

I don't know. I don't think in a tournament play, why not? I mean, you can certainly do that. No read, absolutely. But in a cash game, you want to be a little bit more safer. Of course, you're sitting there. Greg Olson sitting at the top, averaging 16.4 fantasy points per game on Fandle, $8,100 against the Saints. That just seems too easy. But I mean, down the list a little bit, Colby Fleener, 56, Pitta, he's really cheap against the Giants. I mentioned just covering in the slot. Zach Ertz, there's something there with Zach Ertz in Washington.

and I know Chip Kelly was the coach there for the past couple years, but his last three games against the Redskins, 38 targets and 30 receptions for Zach Ertz. That's crazy. And one of those games was only three receptions. So there might be something there. Philadelphia has seen something with Zach Ertz and against that Redskins secondary. I know it's a little bit different, some changes there. But even Norman is not that healthy, and he won't be covering a lot of Zachert. So I think there's something there. But I think you're on something as well. I mean, if there's no read.

Why not save up at the tight end position has been pretty mediocre this season, and that's the bare minimum, $4,500. All right, we do not have the auto start. That is the Minnesota Vikings here on defense. You got a couple quick plays. How good have the Vikings been, guys? Outrageous.

Yeah, that defense is ferocious. It's so nice. But, I mean, up at the top, I mean, the Steelers, 4,800 against Miami. That's not bad. You're going to save a little bit more. I know Buffalo is the same price against San Fran, 4,800. Tennessee, $4,700. I think you just have to spend up at D. I mean, people getting too cute, but you've been rolling out the Vikings week in and week out. And if you've been rolling them out, you're most likely been successful in all your lineup. So continue to spend up. I don't mind Philly, $4,500 against Washington.

I know Kirk Cousins is a lot better at home, but that defense has been pretty good in Philadelphia. I think they'll continue that as well. There you have it.
