Fantasy Football Podcast 2016 - Week 6 Matchups, Daily Dose, In-or-Out

Who would you start if you could only start one, Alshan, Jeffrey, or Julio Jones? That is a tough question. The answer for me is Julio Jones. Yeah. See, and the answer for me was Alshan. So that was the form of a roster where I decided to sit Julio because that was their worst of the, you know, they had other great wide receivers. That's brutal, man. Yeah, I mean, it's tough. You got to make those decisions. All right.

Devonta Freeman, Tevin Coleman, Mike. I heard you on the radio yesterday. The question being asked was, are both of these guys fantasy start-worthy rest of season? Is there a world where that exists? Yes. The answer is yes for me. Freeman is the better of the two. But Coleman just continues to get it done. Let me ask you something quick. Is it better to think about Freeman and Coleman like you would, I don't know, Lacey and Cobb in the sense that like,

Treat Coleman in your mind less like a running back, more like a slot receiver. Because what happens is people, they look at the workload of Freeman and Coleman and they say you can't have value because they're both sharing a position. But are they really? Yeah. And that's what I was going to say is they're such a key cog to this offense. The reason they were able to just beat the crap out of Denver is because they have fast running backs and they knew that.

That was the weakness they could attack the linebackers for Denver. Use the speed of the running backs. It wouldn't shock me if they try to go with an almost identical game plan against the Seahawks. I'm not sure if it will work as well. But when a team has to be worried about Julio Jones and running backs that are great runners and great pass catchers, it's almost unstoppable. And now because Freeman has Coleman, Freeman can stay.

very fresh. We don't have to see him get worn down like he did last year. He can stay, you know, 100% during the game. And so I like both of them. Coleman getting the pass plays and the fact that he's the goal line running back. The opportunities are going to be there. So while I said Freeman's the better start for me, Coleman is still a in every week consideration. So are you saying this week against Seattle in Seattle?

that the backup running back, Tevin Coleman, who's had a couple monster breakaway receptions that have made him fantasy relevant, that you are starting him this week? I am. I'm on record opposed. We've got another something's got to give situation for Matt Ryan, too. I mean, he's got the best pass rating in the league of 121.6, and the Seahawks defense has allowed a pass rating of just 65.6. So, you know, I, again, this is that situation where I, do you think,

I said I doubted Ryan last week against Denver. Was I right or wrong? Wrong. Yeah. And the reason is the running backs. Yeah, I was going to say the reason is Kevin Coleman got 132 yards. Maybe a lot of times we have running backs that are past catchers and you say that gives them that baseline. If he can dump the ball to these running backs, that gives Matt Ryan more the baseline. You know, and I will say this, I completely agree. If, if.

Tavin Coleman can produce 132 yards in a touchdown on four receptions again, then yeah, you can go ahead and trust Matt Ryan. I think Mike is just saying, hey, it's time to jump into the flames regardless of the matchup.

On the other side of the ball, we have a lot of these starts of the week here. Mike had Kristen Michael as the start of the week at running back. Jimmy Graham was Jason start of the week? Correct. At the tight-in position. And then Mike, I notice you have Doug Baldwin as your number two overall. He's actually gone very down since there. Very down? He compared to number two. Okay. Yeah. So where is Doug Baldwin in your guy's mind? Coming off the by, Russell Wilson, they said he's completely healthy now. At home. In a half point.

I have bumped him down to 16. I did not factor in the, or I said completely factor in Truffant. I don't know what that cornerback situation is going to be since Doug Baldwin, you know, he's more of a slot guy. Will Truffant actually be covering him? But I just, I pulled him down a little bit. Plus, you have the weather concerns. Also a factor now. All right. We're moving on Sunday night football, the Colts, the Texans, and my. Oh, ho ho ho.

Andy's Almost Upset of the week. The Texans are favored by three points. I think they lose this game or almost lose this game. I really do. Which one is it, Andy? I really believe it. Okay, I was gone. I heard somebody give me credit for last week. You're welcome. Every time that my almost upset is actually won, it's been by one point. And that's not an almost upset. It is just fine, Mike. It is just fine. You guys are crazy. All right, so the Colts, the Texans.

Let's talk about this game. We have Brock Osweiler that looks like he is struggling and it is hurting DeAndre Hopkins. What do you do with DeAndre Hopkins rest of season? Rest of season, I think he's still a fine play. But knowing when there's going to be upside, it's going to be based on the matchup. Fortunately for DeAndre Hopkins, the Indianapolis Colts are the 28th.

A ranked 28th in past defense, they have been just getting destroyed all over the place. Texans at home, Osweiler at home. I like Hopkins a lot this week. Yeah, if you want to cure what ails your offense, you play one of those teams that consistently gives up passing yards, running yards, touchdowns. You take the schedule, you alter it up.

Yeah, there you go. And so playing the Colts at home, I agree. Vegas has this as one of the higher over-under games this week at 48 points. I think there's going to be a lot of fantasy production. I am fine with Hopkins this week. I think rest of season, I am not convinced that Hopkins is a wide receiver one. I think he is more of a high-end wide receiver two, or if he's a wide receiver one, he's not a top five guy. I just don't think Brock Osweiler can get it done and the emergence of Will Fuller.

kind of eats into Hopkins being just that monster percentage of targets. I think we talked about Justin, not Justin Forsett, Philip Dorset earlier in the week and the fact that, look, I'm off of Dorset as any type of streamworthy guy. The reception quantity isn't there. You're basically just waiting to see if.

Andrew Luck can get the ball over the talk to him one time in a game. And I'm not willing to deal with that, especially against the Texans past the at home. That's number one in the league. I think Andrew Luck is fine to start this week. He's an every week start at the quarterback position, one of the few. Yeah, I would agree with that. I mean, it is a tougher matchup for sure. But the thing that's nice about for Andrew Luck is that T.Y. Hilton, over the course of his career, has been a Texans.

destroyer. He just, he seems to get up and play consistently very well in these particular matchups. We'll see if that continues this week. I would say that it does. Start or sit Will Fuller in this game? Start. Okay. The Colts are very bad against the past and it's in Houston. I think this is a week where Fuller can get back on track. 48 point over under in this game. That's a lot of points. Yeah. So what if? What if at the end of this game?

Lamar Miller has 48 yards and puts up a stinker against the Indianapolis Colts. Another goes in the touchdown category. You go six games, no touchdowns. And this game is one of those, let's cure the ailments. Right now he's 3.6 a carry on the year. If he comes out and stinks in this game, then I will actually be concerned. But much like my Alshon Jeffrey proclamation, he's going to score, Lamar Miller will score this week.

You know, I'm putting it out there into the universe. I think that, you know, I ask the question because I'm a Lamar Miller owner. It stinks right now that he hasn't done more with his opportunity. But I'm realizing that if he comes out and stinks, I'm still going to believe. I don't think there's anything that can happen barring injury that's going to get me off of it. So either I'm incorrectly biased or I just believe the volume trumps. It's like, it's like Melvin Gordon. Melvin Gordon.

I tweeted out last night after the big run. I saw that. Melvin Gordon, getting what's blocked since 2015, because that's what he gets. He should have scored on that 48-yarder. He couldn't cut back on one player. Do you know the numbers? Here's the numbers for Melvin Gordon. One rush for 48 yards or 26 rushes for 46 yards. And that huge run was the Denver defense completely screwed up. But my point is just Melvin is still safe because the volume is there. He had 27 carries. Yeah.

Wow. Because there's nobody else there. And that's the same thing for Lamar Miller. At every week, the volume will be there. Throw the Minnesota game out. That's the outlier of the season. Let me ask you this, Mike. Lamar Miller or CJ Anderson rest of season after what you said about CJ earlier today. I still like Anderson, but it's Miller. It's for me. Okay. Monday night football game, Mike and I will be there on hand. Now, I need to take a minute here.

and I'm going to explain something that I hate about what happened yesterday. I've got a matchup in our League of Record. Big one. A big matchup. It gets a good team. And this other team had Matthew Stafford at quarterback. I have Derek Carr. And yesterday morning, these two hooligans across from me allowed him to sign Carson Palmer. Yes, I'm blaming you. You could have picked him up. I know. So look in the mirror, my friend. But look, now I have to go to Monday Night Football.

My home team is the Cardinals, and my opponent has not only the Cardinals' starting quarterback, but the Cardinals' defense. What the crap am I supposed to do? You take you lost like a man, and you cheer for the Cardinals. I know. I have to, but man, that stinks, man. I need to go trade the farm for Palmer to sit on my bench so I can enjoy this game more. I didn't realize he had the defense, too. Yeah, it's ridiculous. And the Cardinals' defense has been great. And I think this is a great...

matchup for the Cardinals defense. You've got Ryan Pitts Patrick. Look, with Eric Decker gone and Brandon Marshall having the Patrick Peterson effect, I don't see the Jets being able to get a lot going this week against the Arizona Cardinals. They're going to be force feeding that ball to Brandon Marshall. I see at least one slip pick in that game. One slip pick? Yeah, where Brandon Marshall's been sliding all over this year. He's just been slipping a lot.

Okay. And I'm saying he falls down. He falls down Patrick Peterson. He should wear a cleats. I've never heard of fantasy. You slip pick projection before. That's what we bring me here on the fantasy footballer. Breaking news. So here's a question. Do you think it's worth a cursory ad of Austin Safarian Jenkins this week? Yes. Yes. Decker now on IRR. Would you rather take a chance with ASJ or Ladarius Green coming off of?

You know, I are in a week. I would go green in that situation. I would as well. Good, because that's what I did this morning. Both are worth looking at and holding on to because while we're in this game, ASJ has been involved, right? Brandon Marshall's taking them under the wing. There's never, ever been a question of Austin Saffarian Jenkins' pass catching ability. He was drafted to be a pass catching tight end. It was his attitude and his practice and things like that that got him the boot.

from Tampa Bay. Insulting people's moms on Twitter. Yeah. I mean, he is a doofus. Not recommended. But with Eric Decker down, I think that Austin's Ferry and Jenkins will be involved. He'll be involved almost more like a wide receiver. About time they had a tight in that could catch the ball there and actually run route. What does that say about Jason Maro? It means I'll see you tomorrow. It means he's no good.

All right, here's the thing about the Jets. The defense has been terrible against the past. 31st against the past. They give up 12.9 yards per completion. This is why Mike loves John Brown. I love the problem with John Brown stack this week. Love it. All right. You're starting forte. Yeah, it's not excited. The thing about the running backs is it's a bad matcher for both of them. David Johnson is going up against, this could be the toughest run defense he's faced.

But why David Johnson becomes so safe is because he's not in for two downs and can get game scripted out if they can't run the ball. He stays in. He gets everything because he's a great pass catcher. This is why David Johnson is an every week start and has no matchup that is too large for him. Yeah. Yeah, I think you, I mean, David Johnson is a must start. So you just have to see if he can overcome that run D with his passing numbers. So for the Jets running backs, Forte, if you got him, you start him.

But things are trending. You just need to adjust what you expect from Matt Forte. Hopefully he can catch a couple passes for you. Blah Powell is flashing again. Wow. We said the mark of the beast, right? Because the straight three games of six receptions. So was that wow for something? Yeah, I wanted to check. I was curious. I was.
