Do you think if his name was Johnny Touchdown instead of Blake Bortles that he would be owned in more leagues? It's very possible. Wasn't this the discussion that led to Bort? Yeah, you're right. I just remembered that too. We've talked about this. Hey, let me tell you something. In case you're curious, I'm not sitting Big Ben against Denver. So you're, wait, can I ask you a question? Would you rather start Big Ben against Denver or Matthew Stafford against New Orleans?

122 passagesBig Ben against Denver. That's ridiculous. Let me read you a number. 280 yards, three touchdowns. 33 and a half fantasy points against Denver. Is that Derek Carr? No. Tom Brady. Brady. It's Tom Brady. I'm not sitting Big Ben in my playoff match. Okay. Yeah, I'm with Andy for that. But there are... It's a tempting... I mean, if you had to choose things from the stars that you wanted to tempt me with, Stafford against the New Orleans defense is a good one. But I'm not going to do it.
I'm just throwing it out there in case there's somebody else who wants to be, you know, strong with Big Ben, I want you to know you've got an advocate in me because I'm not going to sit down Big Ben in the playoffs. He has the weapons to beat him. Exactly. When I started looking at the playoff matchups and saw that juicy matchup, the one thing I thought as a football fan was, oh, I want to watch that game. I want to watch. I want to see the, I mean, just I want to see Big Ben in those weapons against that defense to see what happens. I thought you were going to say you wanted to see Fitzgerald Tucson.
So, okay, well, let's stay on Denver for just a second. You're week 14, you're a Derek car owner. Are you going to play Derek Carr against Denver? No. No. He had $2.50 and a touchdown. No. Of course not. Okay. Week 16. Let's look even further ahead. Andy Dalton. Are you going to play Andy Dalton in Denver? No. Against the Broncos. Nope. I'm putting Brady.
And Big Ben in a separate category due to the offense and their players. So those are great questions. And so if you're those owners, you need to plan ahead. So let's talk, guys. So we had Bortles and Staff who they're probably owned. Guys that are probably not owned in your league, Brian Hoyer. I love, love Brian Hoyer as a waiver pickup for the playoffs. Love him. His schedule this week a little bit tougher against New England. However, after that, the Colts?
and the Titans. Great matchups for Hoyer, who a Hoyer has really been getting it done all year. Three touchdowns again last week. He just, he's got DeAndre Hopkins, his running game. Nine receivers. He threw it to nine different receivers last year. Wow. Yeah. That's very impressive by Brian Hoyer. Yes. And a great stat nugget. I did not realize that. But Hoyer is, he's a great, he's a great streaming option. In a six, in a six touchdown league,
Do you want to know how many games he's – when he's played, obviously, the whole game, not just gone out with concussion. How many games in a row has been over 20 fantasy points? All of them? Yeah. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven. Basically all of them since he came back from that injury early. So he's got a safe baseline, and he's had several games – he's had a couple of games to over 30. So definitely a good option in the right matchup, and his schedule's great. And then you got the rookie, the rookie sensation, who's – he's –
rising up the crowds of Tampa Bay. James Winston, who this week plays the New Orleans Saints, then he gets the Rams, and then he gets the Bears. All three are plus matchups. Yeah, it's weird because of how the Rams started the year to look at that St. Louis schedule and say, that's a plus matchup. But weirdly enough, it is a plus matchup for fantasy quarterbacks. And how about this guy? Tyrod Taylor.
This week he gets the Eagles. Then he gets Washington and then Dallas. Yeah, I would have no problem. He's been on fire too. Two straight, great weeks, and then this matchup, he should have another great week. So there are guys available on your wire who you can pick up. I will also include Jay Cutler, who was granted very disappointing last week and has been a bit of a slump fantasy-wise.
But those were against some tougher matchups like Denver. But coming up, weeks 14 through 16, Washington, Minnesota, who we need to evaluate them because they were just destroyed. Where were they be? I'm not sure. But Washington, Minnesota, and Tampa Bay, three pretty good matchups for a fantasy quarterback. All right, before we get into the full stream ahead section and give you our favorite streaming quarterback for this week, let's talk about defense. Yes.
So this week, defenses that you need to have. Who's at the top of that list? I know the lions for me are at the top in a couple of my playoff leagues. The lions are the top streaming defense for me this week. I'm with you because they take on the Rams. And you could tell me, hey, Mike, what if Case Keenham is the quarterback for the Rams? I will say good. Start the lion. I will start the lions. I will start the lions.
happily against either Keenham or Nick Fools. Okay. Who else do we like, Jay? You know, another team that has a great matchup this week. You've got the Bears against Washington. Washington, we saw how wonderful their offense was last night. And the truth is, the Bears are a good defense. They started the year terrible for a couple of weeks and kind of got a bad rap. But over the last...
you know, section of the year, the last probably half of the football season, they've been a really good defense against the pass, against the run, they've done enough to win, and they turned around from what looked like a team playing for the first pick to a team trying to make the playoffs. So, in the Washington, the secret was revealed last night. You just line up two linebackers in the A-gaps, and the Washington offense was just shut down. They're wildered. There's nothing they can do. Yeah.
Which is ridiculous. Let's just run this. It's like playing Madden. When you find that one play that works, Blitz your linebackers up the A gap against Washington, you get success. Yep. Anybody else you want to talk about defensively? The Giants take on the dolphins. Tanna Hill's been a turnover machine. The Jets take on Tennessee. And then in the off chance that the chiefs are available, they play.
San Diego and Philip Rivers is amongst the leaders of throwing a pick six. Oh, we can only hope for that this week. Can we, Mike? You're a smelly face. I may or may not have the Chiefs defense. Full stream ahead. All right, let's start this streaming quarterback segment with a little quiz. Oh. And here's how it goes, because I'm going to give you my guy. Which quarterback will Mike not have on his team?
This week against me. Uh, who is? Who is T-Mobile? Tyra. Tyra Taylor. There's no chance on this earth that I'm allowing Mike the fantasy hitman right to use his zero dollar fab money and take away Tyra Taylor. Yeah, that's a good play. Yeah. Because he's near the top of my list. Well, he should be. Near the top. He's my stream of the week. He's 45% owned still and plays the Eagles. And I underline the Eagles.
In our scoring format of six points per touchdown, the Eagles have given up 40 plus to three straight quarterbacks. And Tyred Taylor has been playing well. He's taken more deep shots. Mike likes Sammy Watkins for a reason because they know they can win by getting the ball to their best offensive weapon. He's got a rush, I think he had a rushing TD last week. And I think he's just a bona fide stud this week. Okay, so I can do one better than the Eagles.
The Eagles who have given up 40 in our scoring system three weeks in a row. This team has given up more than 40 in four of five matchups, but two of those were more than 50. And that's the New Orleans Saints who get the rookie James Winston, who is my stream of the week. He has not.
had a single-digit fantasy game all year. His baseline is fine. He can run the touchdown in if need be. He's been throwing touchdowns. He hasn't been throwing picks like he did in the beginning of the year, and I don't expect him to implode against the New Orleans 32nd ranked defense. He's a great streaming candidate. For me, I feel like he's a guy that if you're streaming, you've got this really solid team, and you just need a quarterback that's not going to...
completely poop the bed. You're okay with Winston. Don't crap the team. Don't crap the team. You're okay with Winston, but I think he's got the potential to have one of those three or four touchdown games. I could see this. Are you okay? Jason's, if you've been following the show this week, he's at a tough time. Here's the type of game that I expect it to be a little bit higher scoring. I expect him to throw touchdowns and interceptions. I think it's going to be one of those games where he could have four touchdowns and two picks. Here's what's nice.
in the playoff position right now, right? Tampa Bay, yes. They are playing better. They have a full complement of offensive weapons for the first time for James Winston of Vincent Jackson, Mike Evans, Austin Saffarian Jenkins, Charles Sims, and Doug Martin. Yeah, it's beautiful. So this is a team ascending going against the defense that belongs in collegian football. And you, yes, and you had said, remind me the exact stat if you can remember, but before the buy,
James Winston. I do remember the stat. He was in the bottom six of QBR as a quarterback before the buy. Since the buy, he's in the top six of QBR. That's the kind of ascension he's made. We all thought Marioita after that first week where he had like five touchdowns and Winston threw like 74 pick sixes that it was trending Mario's way. And Mario's had these boom games. Winston's been the better quarterback. And his team is winning. Yeah. For my stream, I'm going to stay in the flames.
with a man who gets no respect in the fantasy football game. No respect. No. Yeah. Oh, I tell you. I get no respect. He gets respect on this show almost weekly. Yeah, he was my stream of the week. He's been, I think he's been our highest streamed quarterback. He probably has to be. Half of the weeks, he's our streamed. I streamed him twice. He didn't do nothing for me. Oh, he's blown up for me every time I've streamed him. So he gives no respect. Yeah, so I'm going with Ryan Fitzpatrick.
He's at home. He takes on Tennessee. Ryan Fitzpatrick, the last couple weeks. All he's done is thrown for over 600 yards and six touchdowns. And he is going to take on Tennessee, who I lost my spot. This is what Tennessee has done the last two weeks. They've given up over 600 yards and eight touchdowns. Blake Borough's five touchdowns last week. And Derek Carr, three the week before. So Tennessee, yeah, they...
Give up points, and Ryan Fitzpatrick is playing fantastic with his weapons of Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker. It's hard to beat those guys, and Ryan Fitzpatrick only owned in 42% of ESPN leagues. Unbelievable. Unbelievable. Yeah, he's performed hugely. I like players on teams that are competing for playoff spots, especially with good coaches, and the Jets are right in the thick of things trying to fight for a playoff spot. Huge win last week. They're at home. They've got to get it done. Yeah, Todd Bowles is great. Yeah.
All righty. That is it for today's show. I, you know, nothing else to say. There you go. So we are going to be back with our sits of the week tomorrow. We're going to have our waivers, or I mean our mailbag show and answer a bunch of playoff questions. Do our best to get you a victory this week. We want to see a ton of tweets, pictures of you with your trophy. That's the goal.
That's what we set out to do 150 shows ago. Yeah, and if you're listening and you didn't make the playoffs, good for you are about to make the playoffs next year. Because one of the mistakes that people make when they don't make the playoffs is they stop following.
the fantasy news at the end of the season, and that hurts them going into the next season more than they realize. So keep listening. Well, we'll be here. You might as well hang out with us. Yep. All year round. All year round. So Mike, any parting words? We need friends. Oh, okay. Well, there you go. I'm going to hit the button now. Thanks, Mike. I agree with you. We'll catch you tomorrow. Everybody. Our friends are football. Yeah, our friends are football. Thank you. Goodbye. Good grammar.
