The hosts frame the rookie-preview episode as a show they have been anticipating for a long time.
The episode opens by declaring that the hosts have been looking forward to the rookie previews for a long time. That annual anticipation gives the segment the feel of a recurring event and supports a ceremonial visual treatment.
And I think he's a player that could land on a team and contribute from day one. Not as the guy, but as a compliment, as a pass catcher. And, you know, I have him at six right now. You guys have them at seven. Is there another name you really like? Yeah, there's a guy I like. And to speak on Will Shipley, I mean, he, I think he's very well-rounded. He came into college as, I mean, there's different high school scouting reports, but some had him as the number one. running back recruit in the nation. So he's not out of nowhere. Pay attention to him. But for me, Ray Davis, he's older, which I don't like. I really, you know, I don't like older running backs. 24.4. Yeah, I mean, that is, that's a very old. Wow, man. But he is extremely well-rounded. He can catch the ball well. He's got breakaway speed. I liked the tape a lot. And from a fantasy perspective, I really liked.
that he seems like he can do everything. And I value that in a running back. Mike, did you have anybody else? Do you want to bring up? Estimate out of Notre Dame. And it's, I just wanted. You have him the highest. Yeah, I think he's in, I like what I saw. And the, the, the buzz, you know, with mock drafts is showing. He could be one of those guys that ends up as a third rounder. He's fun because Jason and I have a pretty strong difference of opinion. on him. He is a thicker boy. He's thick. Yeah. He's thick. I think Jason and I have the same opinion. So you're on an estimate island. That's which that's, that's fine. But he's, it's a big island. And it's a big player, a big running back who can catch. And I've just, I have a real soft spot when there is, when you can give me that kind of combination. He was, uh, he's still running his 40.
The official combine was 471. Oh, why even do it? I know. Well, he improved it at the pro day, right? I don't, I don't recall. 470? At the pro day? So slow, straight line, but, like, his other... I think it was 458 or something. 458, yeah. Oh, okay, so add on the 0.055 and you're still slow. You're still slow. But, like, his explosiveness and the vert, like, the short area speed. He tested very well at that. And I kind of had the notes. Oh, is he your next AJ Dylan? Uh, maybe. I don't know. I thought his footwork was pretty good for a good guy or for a big guy. And the problem I have is the start and stopping. I don't know if you're going to be able to get away with that when you go to the pros. It was working for him in college. But he's a guy I have my eye on just, just in case his draft name gets called on day two.
All right, kind of a unique different year for running backs, really, for the, you know, so much attention on the wide receiver position, which we will be covering on Thursday with more highbrow jokes from yours truly and then more of kind of like the on the street stuff from Jason. Yeah, come to the streets, join me. All right, that'll do it. Again, you can deep dive in the Dynasty Pass, Ultimate draft kit.com, back with another show on Thursday. Take care. Goodbye.
