Fantasy Football Podcast 2017 - Valentine's Day Picks, Free Agency Preview

Garsohn. I mean, Garcon is going to get, you know, he represents that Anquan Bolden-esque type of player. I was just going to say Garsohn is Bolden to me. He's the most similar to Encombolden of anybody in the NFL. You know, that's what you do, I think, in Cincinnati. To me, Jeffrey going to Philly makes the most sense in the world from a fantasy perspective. Carson wins needs a frontline guy. Nobody on that team has taken the reins over the past two years whatsoever. So Jeffrey instantly becomes that weapon.

We know what he can do even with a mediocre quarterback situation and double coverage. He's humongous. He's not, this is not, who am I thinking of? Marvin Jones. This is not Marvin Jones moving teams. Right. This is a much better player than Marvin Jones. This is somebody who has proven that he can be more than just a red zone talent. So Philly's my number one hope for Jeffrey from a fantasy perspective.

or staying in Chicago. I don't think that Chicago is going to keep him. Yeah. So, I mean, Chicago is going to have to do something because a lot of their guys are currently free agents. I'll throw out one other spot that I think would be good for him to land. I'm looking at teams that can afford him that have the cap space and need that number one. You're right. Philly's a great destination. By the way, real quick, Al Sean Jeffrey, last off season. Do you know how much money they offered him that he turned down?

Per season? How much? Twelve million. Yeah, that... Twelve million a year turned down by Jeffrey last offseason. He's not going to get... Well, that makes sense. I mean, Garsohn's expected to get nine million. But the Tennessee Titans, if they don't want to spend one of those high, you know, draft picks that they have on a wide receiver, they need... I love Richard Matthews. I think he's a better player than most people think. But he's not a...

an absolute one to pair with Marks Mariotta. They could really use a guy like Alshon Jeffrey. I don't hate it. They have the cap space to do it. They've got plenty of capital this year to make moves. Yeah, you've been talking about Tennessee getting a wide receiver for a while. Because they need one. You think so? Yes, I very much. I mean, Kendall Wright is, he's going to be gone. Oh, sure. I don't, I'd have put him in the conversation. But Delaney Walker, who is basically served as a wide receiver for that team, he's old.

I mean, his elite playing days are going to come to a crashing end very soon. They believe, I think Matthews and Tajay Sharpe, they believe in Tajay Sharpe. Yeah. And I believe in Tajay Sharpe. I mean, you had a rookie come in. He still made an impact. But I probably agree with the fact he's, you know, he doesn't project to be a one. They don't have a one. And they have a quarterback that needs one. They have a fantasy one maybe, but not a. Yeah. I mean, Richard Matthews last year. Oh, yeah, yeah. Second half.

But, I mean, if you look, the year prior as well with most of the same wide receivers that they've got around, they didn't have a top 50 wide receiver for fantasy. No, you're, you've convinced me. Adam Thielen is a free agent. Ha! Yeah, a lot of the guys on Minnesota, Chicago is a problem. So does Minnesota. Thielen, Charles Johnson, Corderell Patterson. There's going to be an extreme makeover edition of the Vikings wide receiver core.

You know, there was a pretty good rookie drafted there. If only they went and took a top flight rookie last year. They did draft a pretty good player. Treadwell could certainly still become that, but wow. I just think it was almost a redshirt year for Treadwell. It wasn't like he failed with his opportunity. I mean, he didn't get opportunity. Treadwell digs and Thielen make it for a gray wide receiving core for that team. Yeah. If they were to bring Thielen back.

Still young, 26 years old, very impressive to me. I was impressed with Thielen's skills. Let's talk about Terrell Pryor. You think he's back in Cleveland? He wants to be back in Cleveland. Now, some of the people that are around Cleveland seem like player-wise, people don't seem to love Terrell Pryor. No, they do not. But I do expect him to be back in Cleveland. They have the most cap available of any team. He's already there. He proved last year he was a centerpiece of their offense when they had.

Any combination of quarterbacks that could throw the ball to a wide receiver, which was rare. Okay. He looked like a beast, and I expect that he will sign there, considering he wants to be there, and they have the cap space to sign him. Yeah, prior and Coleman, that's not a bad wide receiving foundation for a new quarterback to come in there, have an opportunity. You still got Barnage there, too. Josh Gordon will be gone.

Deshawn Jackson. Deshawn Jackson, possible destinations. He says he'd like to resign, but money talks and Deshaun walks for money. So, you know, he doesn't want to move. Yeah. According to his words. He wants Washington to pay them a lot of money. And I don't think Washington is going to pay him the money that he can get on the free agent open market. I would agree with that. If D. Jackson, Garson, leave, though. You're putting, I mean.

You have Josh Doxon coming off an injury. Yeah. You have Jordan Reed at the tight-in position. You have James and Crowder. Crowder. That's a draft. I mean, they will need a piece. You know what that is to me? That would be more of a free agent pickup. They could be a team that goes out and signs of Robert Woods. I was just going to say Robert. Man, we are in sync today. We are in sync with these destinations. How in the world is Robert Woods only 24 years old? Yeah. I have all. I see him as like, he should be 28. Let me say this.

Robert Woods has always passed the eye test to me. You taught two seasons ago, Quincy and Noon, right? He passed the eye test to me. Robert Woods has always passed the eye test to me. You talk about a guy to go to Cincinnati and be a perfect compliment, a guy that is super, he's got consistent hands. To me, Robert Woods, I can't believe he's only 24 years old. That's shocking to me.

I didn't realize that. I think he may be one of the better wide receiver bargains. Now you're not talking about a guy that can be a number one. And from a fantasy perspective, you know.

Maybe not relevant, but a guy that's 600 yards 80 plus catches in three or four years in 74 last year? Yeah, here's how he's very relevant. He's not a relevant player that you need to draft and start, but he is very relevant for the quarterback that plays. I agree. If he goes to Cincinnati, that bumps up Andy Dalton to me. He's going to help the whole offense and be one of those important pieces. He entered the NFL at 20. Wow. That's why he feels like he's older than he is. Who else do we want to talk about a wide receiver?

You know, Kenny Britt, love him or hate him, and I love him. He's a talented wide receiver. He had his first thousand yard season last year, and it seems like for some strange reason, the Rams don't want to resign him. I know he's, you know, he was a Jeff Fisher guy, and he's maybe not the sharpest tool in the shed from what we saw. He's enormous. That's his biggest attribute.

Yeah. He's huge. He's a pretty good receiver. Yeah. I'd like to see him go to some team that can air it out. Only 28 years old. He could be another bargain. He, you know, I think he made $4 million last year. You have some under the table names, you know, some Ted Gins and Kamar Akins and Brandon Lafels are free agents this year. Very interesting when those, you know, Terrence Williams. He's a free agent. I'm saying it more from, you know, who steps into the role. Butler.

Bryce Butler? He's a free agent, too. They are, but they're not going to resign. I expect that they'll resign Butler and let Williams go. They're both 27. Isn't that funny? Don't you think of Williams is older? They're both 27 years. I think a Butler is way younger than 27. I know. Kenny Stills is only 24 years old. Mike's favorite player. I'm surprised he's not your Valentine, each and every day. Like you wake up in the morning and you roll over and you say, hey, Kenny. He's very good. Carmar Aiken is a free agent. Yeah.

Yeah, I'm not excited about tomorrow. Michael Floyd. Oh, yeah, we don't even talk about him. Oh, hum. I think his days have come and gone. And he'll know. He will go to a team, but he's not. Ancillary piece. He's not, he will never live up to that he's a top 15 pick. No, no, he won't. He's a perfect replacement. If he wants to go to Cincinnati to replace Brandon Lafell, he can get down the field, he can drop some passes. I mean, that's, that's what Michael Floyd is, is.

Brandon LaFelle. Is there one team that you are extremely excited about the possibility of them picking up a front line wide receiver? Is there one team that you say it's a plug and play? This is Ezekieli being drafted by the Cowboys last year, but instead it is, it is Alshan Jeffrey landing? Oh, man. Is there some team that you're just, let's say trial prior leaves. Is there somebody you want to see go to Cleveland and dominate?

That is a good one. Oh, sorry. Sorry, Cleveland. I guess Tennessee really is with how Mariotas played. They're a team that comes to mind for sure. Philly, you know, we talked about Philly. I mean, it's going to be as good as the quarterback is. St. Louis. Well, they don't have a football team. That is true. Have you ever been there, though? I have, actually. The golden arches, yeah. No, no, no. I'm sorry, Jay. That's McDonald's.

Oh, you've been there. This is a team where I'll throw this out. They're not considered in this list that we've been talking about because they have wide receivers. Yet I don't think that they have a true number one dynamic wide receiver that they need. That's the Carolina Panthers. Sure. I mean, they have funches, bunches of funches and there's, and now I can't know, Kelvin Benjamin. But I don't think those guys are elite.

Let me tell you something that's going to happen to break your heart, okay? Okay. Alshan's going to leave Chicago. You're going to have this little love affair for the summer, just a fling, running through the meadows with Cameron Meredith in tow, maybe for a couple weeks. They're going to sign somebody, and it's not going to be front line, top of the line to Sean Jackson, but they're going to sign somebody that's going to nerf Cameron Meredith's value next year. That's my prediction. It's very possible. They're going to go out and they'll spend the money on...

I don't know, somebody like, hypothetically like a prior or a Floyd or a Brit, and then we're going to all go, oh, man, who's going to catch the ball in Chicago? Well, let me tell you a similar story that I think is going to happen, and you guys will very much disagree with. I think that there's another team with a lot of cap space that needs a wide receiver, and the love affair this offseason is going to be too high with a wide receiver that I already know is, in my opinion, too high. Not that I don't like him, but we're talking he's up with the big three now.

And that's Mike Evans. But the Buccaneers with James Winston, they need another good wide receiver. They have the capital to do it. Vincent Jackson is... He's gone. Oh, come on. I just mean for the NFL. He's done for the NFL. He's gone. He is... Rest in peace. NFL career. Gene Hackman where he's not actually... Oh, I'm so happy that Gene Hackman lives.

He lived. What do you mean he passed away? What? No, he didn't. All right. Good. I'm happy again. But I do think the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are one of those destinations you throw out where it's where is a great destination to land. I want a quarterback that's going to air out the ball who can get a good down the field pass. And they've got a big opening there because last year it was the perfect, you know.

event of Vincent Jackson going down and a changeover at tight end. And, you know, they tested other pieces. And they clearly said, we need another big wide receiver from that testing. All right. Um, Jack Doyle is expected to, uh, hit the free agent pool. Jared Cook's a free agent. Martellas Bennett is a free agent. Could get paid.

Could. By a team that is in need of a tight end. Vernon Davis is a free agent. Julius Thomas? Well, it sounds like there could be. I was going to say he's not a free agent, right? Yeah. Last I heard they're going to keep him. I think that's all right. And then Larry Dinell just got cut by the... No, he's expected to be cut. I think the most important tight-in on that list is Jared Cook.

and that he resigns. I believe, you know, he missed so much of this past season, but you could see in the playoffs in the last stretch of the year how important he was to Aaron Rogers. I think that the Packers will resign him, and I think that he will be a fantasy relevant tight end in 2017. Who will be? Jared Cook.

Uh, maybe. Well, for the first time in his career? Yeah. Yes, correct. I think for the first time in his career, he'll be a fantasy relevant for the whole season. He'll have his off games because it's Jared Cook. Hmm. He'll disappear a couple times, but he'll be all right. All right. Well, that does it for today's show. What do we got going on next week?
