Fantasy Football 2017 - Keep/Trade/Cut, Pump the Brakes + Matt Forte Joins the Ballers

Remember, that's a Thursday night game this year. All right. Frank Reich thinks Wendell Smallwood. There's no doubt, Windows Smallwood will be in for an increased role. Yeah. Because Sproles is gone. Aaron Sprouls is gone.

And those touches have to go somewhere. Another potential streaming running back option for you. I think that he's, I talked about him on the waiver. So I think he's a great pickup and see what happens. All right. Cairo Santos injured reserve kicker for the chiefs. You're going to have to find another kicker if he was yours. And then a lot of people have been asking about Josh Gordon. They want an update on Josh Gordon's situation. I told the guys in the studio yesterday it feels a lot like a boy who cried wolf situation now because we've been optimistic and hopeful.

wishful thinking with Josh Gordon. So you're kind of saying, but here's the deal. He returned to rehab in June to try to show the NFL. He was worthy of reinstatement. And that treatment ends on September 21st or ended. And that's basically what we know. He has the opportunity to ask for reinstatement. Yep.

He hasn't played in a game since December 21st, 2014 and been suspended for 43 of the past 48 games. If Josh Gordon is on your dynasty team you've been holding on, don't cut him. But I am adding him in zero of my redraft leaks. Yeah, redraft. I wouldn't add him until something happens. It's not worth of speculation. Mike, you of all people know that just because you have the opportunity to apply for something.

I see where you're going with this. When Twitter doesn't want to verify you, they will reject you. And so Josh Gordon can apply for reinstatement. Well, here's the thing. At least Josh Gordon gets like his official rejection. Twitter doesn't always tell me. They just. So it's like, eh, whatever. The Josh Gordon thing, it's two giant battles. There's battle one.

Just getting reinstated. And in battle two, being fantasy relevant in any way, shape, or form with the Sean Kaiser and the Browns and not playing for two years. People forget that the final year that he played, he wasn't that good. Right. Because the year before, he was a monster, but he still played in, I think, like, six games, four or six games that year before he got the boot. And he wasn't good at all. He had, I think, week one, he was great. And then he was terrible for a couple games. All right. That is it for the news. Let's move it on.

Keep Trade Cut. All right. Keep Trade Cut. Very excited to get into this segment. Would you forget how we played it? How did we play this last year? We go down through each guy and we say whether you should keep him, whether you should trade him, or whether you should cut him. That is very true. This segment has been in high demand and maybe it hasn't been there because I forgot how we played it. Well, we're back. It's pretty simple.

The name kind of tells the story. The name are the instructions. Keep trade cut. Got it. You got it. All right. Who's the first candidate? Cameron Newton. Love Michael Keene. I am cutting Cam Newton. So he's got the Patriots. He's got two road games coming up, Patriots, Lions, then the Eagles. Cam Newton is, it's, he's not well.

I'll put it this way. Last night, I actually ironically traded for Cam Newton. It wasn't for him. He was just in a package sending Drew Breeze away. And I'm looking to the waiver. Like I, you know, waivers are going to run for us here in a couple minutes. And there's quarterbacks in that list because I would rather play several of the quarterbacks that are available in our league's waivers than Cam Newton this week. Yeah, I think you try to trade them on the name if you can. And then I would say you cut them if you can't. You're going to, you're not just going to.

Do a speculation hold here for Cam Newton? New England is a great team to play right now if you're a quarterback. So are the Saints. Yeah, that's true. Which was not good. Yeah. I would probably, I would cut Cam as well. Derek Carr? Keep trade cut. I'm going to hold. Man.

You're going to keep a trade. You just said you'd trade him. He's got to be your trade. Oh, yes. Trade. Yes. Did you forget how to play the game? No, no, I was. He did literally just say I would trade Derek Carr. No, what happened there. I'm thinking whether or not I would cut him. That's where my brain was like. We were talking about cutting, do you cut Cam Newton? No, and that's what I was saying. You don't cut him, but you do trade him. Isaiah Crowell. Gets the Bengals. He's a keep for me still. Gets the Jets. Gets. Gets Houston.

I think he has to be a keep because the only way you're trading him is on the cheap. And there's no value there. You're just losing a running back. I'm in high alert for Crowell. I mean, I don't think it's going to happen. He was a maker. I thought about pumping the brakes on Duke Johnson, but that didn't go my way with Chris Johnson or Chris Thompson last week with the kind of passing down back. Look, Crowell, it's all game script. The Browns have not led at any point in any game this entire season.

They're the only team to have been in a deficit at all times when they're not tied zero, which should not shock people. Well, that's true. But you would expect them to be leading in some game at some point in time in which case. By accident. Even, yeah, some defensive play. The Jets won a game. That's a very fair point. So he's a keep, though, because he's a running bat. You don't have another choice right now to keep him. Let's move to Washington.

No, literally. Let's just let's go right now. No, Terrell Pryor, Jameson Crowder, keep trade cut. Tough decisions on both of those guys. And you have, so they have the Chiefs tough match. It's generally a tough matchup on the road. The Chief's passing defense has been allowing some things to happen. But then they have a buy week right after that. And then San Francisco, which is very juicy, especially at home. I would. Oof.

I think I would hold. I would keep both of them. I would look to trade these guys. Both of them? Yeah, I think they still have a big enough name where people still believe him by Interrell Pryor. That's funny. I have the opposite opinion. My point with Pryor was going to be your pot committed on your draft capital, so I'd probably keep him to see if he can do anything. I don't think anybody wants him. Yeah, I would actually. What name does he have? I mean, he's never done anything in Washington. I would consider. Didn't you just trade him like yesterday? I did. I had to include draft picks to even.

to even move him. And I would consider trading for Terrell Pryor. I would try and get him cheap just because it's not going to get worse than this. Yeah. I mean, the upside is there. If Andy had not traded Terrell Pryor in our league, I was I was fixing to try and buy him low. That's interesting. Well, I guess you combine everything that's been going on with what you said. Kansas City at Arrowhead by week. I'm going to trade for him in a couple weeks.

That's fair. Just remember, we're past the first two weeks, and it's this really strange things where Kurt Cousins is just, he's been bad, week one and two. It just takes him a while to get going. For fantasy. Yes, for fantasy. Yeah, got you. All right, Dante Moncrief. Keep trade cut. You can cut him. I went to cut him in our league. I was on the drop page, and I thought, no, I got to try to get a trade, and I traded him for pennies on the dollar, but I got something out of him. Yeah, and one.

thing that Jason did that was strategic and smart about that was he sent him away for a late round draft big to the Andrew Luck owner. So the stack is attractive to players. So if you, that's another thing for even the Trell Pryor situation. You want to trade trial prior? Maybe that stack is attractive to the Kirk Cousins owner. Who knows? Martellus Bennett. Keep trade cut? I think you keep them. Titans have been rough. Yes, tight ends have been very rough. But I would trade Martellus Bennett.

There are other options available. I mean, you saw Lance Kendricks catch a couple balls. It's never really been a tight end friendly scheme. I know we've talked about the merits of when Jermichael Finley was there and everything. But talking very recent history, the tight end has not been someone you want to play. Especially while they have three other good receivers. Right. Those are going to get the targets. And three tight ends. Richard Rogers is still there. Lance Kendricks. I would trade Martell as Bennett.

Try and get some value. Yeah. Bennett's in a situation where you're basically saying to get in the red zone, he chooses to go Bennett's way and you have that touchdown that makes him relevant, just like Ryan Griffin last week. I would much rather have Ryan Griffin. There you go. Because there's actual volume there. All right, quick pause on the key trade cut. All right, I want to throw a few more names out there. And this segment's great because it lets us address the situation tons of fantasy owners have with these players on your team. So Amir Abdullah, keep trade cut. To me, that is an absolute keep. Even though he hasn't scored, he's been getting you kind of 10-point baselines every week. Yeah, it's unfortunate that Amir Abdullah, at least at this point, does not look like he will translate into a high-end starter. But he's getting running back to volume. And he's involved in the passing game.

He, he's a safe play. It seems like his, like Andy said, his floor is, his floor is fine, but his ceiling is also right near that floor, but you still need those guys on your team. Yeah, you would have hoped to see more big plays from him over his career after the way his career started. Tyro Williams, keep trade cut. For me, he's a cut. Yeah, he's, he's part of the wide receiver waiver fodder. Travis Benjamin has been the wide receiver too.

And that's a little scary for me because I've got Tyrell Williams in a couple places. They paid Benjamin to be that guy. You need to just keep your eyes on it to see if there's consistency. Obviously right now, there hasn't been consistency with that offense. Is Hunter Henry involved? Yes, no, yes, no. And then same with Benjamin and Tyrell. It might just be that way the whole year. I would say Tyrell, you can cut. All right, let's talk about Lamar Miller. What is he for you guys? Keep trade cut. For me, he's a trade. For me, he's an absolute keep because, I mean, Amir Abdullah. Yep.

is, you know, we're saying you keep him because he's a running back who gets enough volume to be that running back two or three. And that's what Lamar Miller is. I'm not afraid of Deontiforman. Deontiforman's the better running back there. And he will get work and he'll be valuable. But he might just end up helping Lamar Miller's fantasy value because they'll continue to move the ball, have more offense, have more production. And Alfred Blue, when he was there, he had 100 carries last year. You know, so it's not like.

Lamar Miller is going to, they run the ball so much that there's enough volume for both guys. Yeah, I think the difference between a keep and a trade on that is what you believe about the next six to eight weeks and Deontoforman's involvement versus Lamar Miller. I definitely see if you don't buy into Yante Foreman really hurting Miller, there's no reason to trade him. Yeah, I would keep Lamar Miller. J.J. Nelson, he had a goose egg after a 22-point week.
