Cardinals fandom buries San Francisco on the rooting list
Everyone in the studio ranks the remaining championship teams. Detroit leads through underdog appeal, while San Francisco sits last for almost or possibly everyone because the desk identifies itself as Cardinals fans; Kansas City also suffers from dynasty boredom.
moment
Andy's rookie-pick cupboard stays empty for three years
A preview of the Dynasty podcast becomes a roast of Andy having zero rookie picks in the league's draft. When he realizes what is being said, the desk clarifies that his pick shortage also covers the next three years and concludes that everyone does things differently.
moment
Cologne Day McVeigh spritzes Atlanta
The Falcons' attempt to pair a defensive head coach with Rams-derived offense becomes 'Cologne Day McVeigh,' which has allegedly been spritzed yet again from the McVay coaching tree.
moment
Jason's Canales take freezes while the contract is signed
Jason acknowledges that he had just said Dave Canales would not become a head coach. The Carolina hiring arrives virtually simultaneously, leading the desk to say Canales was signing papers while Jason condemned the possibility and to classify the reversal as an immediate frozen hot take, comparable only to an earlier Courtland Sutton instant-signing moment.
moment
Prehab reaches Hocktober ahead of schedule
Matthew Betz's pre-surgery work is credited as prehab. A nine-month Hockenson timeline points to October and becomes Hocktober; seconds later the hosts fake breaking news that he is already ahead of schedule because he woke from surgery faster than expected, then say everyone eventually receives that recovery label.
moment
The running-back Truth enters the courtroom
After the news break, the second running-back Truth episode formally opens through the recurring courtroom exchange from 'You want answers?' to 'Can't handle the truth.'
moment
Latavius Murray thanks James Cook for his service
James Cook is imagined gashing the defense between the twenties and then being dismissed at the goal line by a formal voice saying his service is no longer required. The desk identifies the voice as Latavius Murray and describes that same red-zone replacement pattern as all of them.
moment
Big Wet Bust becomes a hashtag nobody may search
Tony Pollard's season first inspires 'Huge wet bust,' which another host tries to redirect toward wet fart. Twenty minutes later Austin Ekeler's dirty-cake disappointment revives the phrase as Big Wet Bust; the desk pretends it is a classic cliche everyone should use, bans it at the office, and creates a hashtag that may be posted but never searched or viewed.
moment
Kyle supplies two running-back research gems
Kyle receives explicit credit for pulling Nick Chubb's sophomore goal-line line—16 inside-the-five carries, three touchdowns, and negative nine rushing yards—and later for finding that Zach Charbonnet's rookie PPR rate topped only Bishop Sankey among the selected decade-long sample.
moment
James Conner breaks tackles and body parts
The hosts say James Conner's running style is terrible for his body, then mutate 'breaks too many tackles' into 'breaks too many tackles and body parts.'
moment
Jason roots for Arthur Smith because content wins
Jason says he has pledged not to speak about Najee Harris, but Arthur Smith's possible Pittsburgh coordinator job draws him back in. The desk calls it Revenge of the Sith and the only offense Smith could improve; when asked why he is rooting for Arthur, Jason says it would be good for the show and good for content.
moment
Jason takes the Ekeler van off the cliff
Jason doubts whether Austin Ekeler will play again and is told he has gone through the collapse hand in hand with Ekeler, driving the van off a cliff and then assuming Ekeler cannot walk because Jason cannot. The later discussion narrows the obituary to the old all-opportunity fantasy version of Ekeler, which the desk says is dead.
moment
Only an anonymous two-thirds of the Ducers answer the close
The produced opening card credits Brooks, Jeremy, and Kyle under Judge Giamatti, Owl Borland, and The Borgogon. At the close, the hosts thank the Ducers in Ducers Alley but specify that only two-thirds are there and say the members know who they are; the video stays on the main desk, so the absent third cannot be identified.
summary
Episode notes
The studio's Cardinals fandom puts San Francisco last on its championship rooting list, and Andy is teased for having no rookie picks now or for the next three years. A Rams coaching-tree joke becomes Cologne Day McVeigh before Jason's claim that Dave Canales would not become a head coach is replayed against the virtually simultaneous Carolina hiring; the desk calls it an immediate frozen hot take and compares it with an earlier Courtland Sutton instant reversal. Matthew Betz receives credit for the term prehab, an October return becomes Hocktober, and the hosts instantly declare T.J. Hockenson ahead of schedule while joking that every recovery eventually receives that label. The running-back Truth opens through its familiar courtroom dialogue. James Cook's red-zone replacement becomes a Latavius Murray service-dismissal voice, while James Conner's broken tackles become broken body parts. Kyle supplies two statistical gems from the production side. Tony Pollard inspires 'Huge wet bust' and a wet-fart correction; the phrase returns for Austin Ekeler as Big Wet Bust, is declared a normal cliche, becomes a hashtag nobody should search, and remains wholly dialogue rather than an on-screen graphic. Jason, who pledged not to discuss Najee Harris, roots for Arthur Smith in Pittsburgh because it would be good for the show and content. His Ekeler pessimism is framed as going hand in hand over a cliff in a van; the hosts later say the old all-opportunity version of Ekeler is dead. The published video shows Andy, Jason, and Mike at the desk throughout. Its opening credit card names Brooks/Judge Giamatti, Jeremy/Owl Borland, and Kyle/The Borgogon, but the closing thanks only an anonymous two-thirds of the Ducers and never cuts to the booth, so no individual crew attendance is inferred.
And he's a free agent. Yeah, we don't know where he's going to go. Brian Robinson, we'll see what Washington does. We'll see if they, you know, do they bring in an offensive mind now that they can actually interview him from Detroit, Mr. Ben Johnson. Antonio Gibson will be a free agent. I think Brian Robinson is a, Brian Robinson is a competent guy. If he's put in the right situation, it could be a lot better for him. And I think he will still be drafted later. But so the truth, weeks one through 11, technically the running back four in fantasy helped by that week two performance against Denver. And I mean, he actually got more involved as a pass catcher. You know, the quarterback rating when targeting him was actually the highest in the NFL.
1.68 yards per route run. That was the fifth best amongst running backs. So I think there is, there should be some hope for Brian Robinson heading into next year. Austin Eccler finished to 28. Consistency of 39 in the second half, 29 on the year. The running back two. Oh, cool. Fundamentally the biggest bust in fantasy. 43% bust games, 36% good, 7% great. Missed time due to injury just as the icing on the. dirty, nasty cake. Big Wet Bust, if I've ever heard of one. Yeah, I've heard of that. Just a classic phrase, everybody says it's not from me. I didn't make it up. It's a normal cliche. I've heard it a couple times now. Yeah, Big Wet Bust. If you've heard it several times. Yeah. Now it's just a thing that you should incorporate into your lives. Not at the office. No, no, no, no. Hashtag big wet bust. I don't know.
But don't search for the hashtag. Just don't click on the hashtag. Use the hashtag. Don't search. No, you don't want to participate in viewing. Okay. This is bad. This is not good. All right. Not good. But Ackler was one of base. I don't know if he plays football again. If he plays football again, it will be for a franchise that's trying to bring in a name. Absolutely play football. Really? Yes. Well, so we're, you are living in a place. Of utter, you have, you have been through it with him, hand in hand. You went off the cliff in the van with Austin Echler. Yes, I did. And you're like, I don't know if he'll walk again because you're not, because you're not able to walk. For Jason's side, I think Echler was talking about it. It was, you know, a video I saw a couple weeks ago at least. And if he plays, I think it will be up to Echler. Like, will he.
take the lower money because he's not going to get offered. My point is he's come out and already talked about how catastrophic the injury situation was over the second half of the year. He is not looking at his production with the sun setting approach. He's looking at it. Now, yes, there may be a disconnect between money and expectation. That's all I'm talking about. But he will get a deal. He's not going to get a big bag of money from anybody. He will not get a big bag of money from any team. Nobody's going to come and pay him. superstar top five running back money. That would blow my mind. But he may get more than you think. That would be something I could see a team with cap space that needs some solidification in the backfield just deciding. I mean, Dalvin freaking Cook got to check this off season. Well, Dalvin Cook was coming off a good year. Delvin Cook was great last year and younger. Dalvin Cook was not in demand of any sort. Exactly. And we all knew that he was.
done right so i guess it's just maybe there's similar situations but his role will change i just don't believe that he like he has been a workhorse he's been involved in the passing game involved in the running game a goal line guy everything you want in fantasy he has had all the opportunity that version of his opportunity is gone yeah he's dead yeah yards per carry 52nd out of 61 yards after contact per rush 47th of 50 qualifying running backs. And he has a life outside of football too. Yeah. Well, he could become a fullback. Jonathan Taylor at 33 worth mentioning because his consistency was sixth. 33 is not respective of anything. 33 was because he didn't play that much. His consistency in the second half of the year was three. So Jonathan Taylor. He's awesome. Jonathan Taylor is going to be a first round draft pick.
As he should be, I love this offense, their pace of play. And when you get Anthony Richardson in there, I'm maybe even more excited about it with the sole exception of vulturing goalline touchdowns. Ramandre, big bust. Yeah, he was. RB 11 in drafts, 30th inconsistency, bad in the first and second half inconsistency, injured, zero. percent great games, 42 percent busts. Do you guys see the little blurb that the Patriots are not planning on picking up Mac Jones' fifth year option? No. Shocking. I know. It's not shocking seeing what happened throughout the year of he got bench, but it's shocking of, man. Yeah, you Drake may not want to pick up that option. Yes. Also, Romandre, he's under contract for 2024 already.
That's the final year of his rookie deal. So he'll be there. Yeah, and depending on how far he drops, he may be a target. He could with a new head coach and a new quarterback. Aaron Jones at 37, consistency of 28. Aaron Jones was a lost season that, you know, his season got started in week 15. And so you got about three weeks of top 24 play. And yeah, I mean, this was a huge bust. I mean, you drafted him at RB15 and he helped you zero pretty much. It sucks because he still looked good. You know what I mean? Like week one, he was the running back one, then he got injured and sucked until the end of the year when he got back from injury and looked good again. And then in the playoffs, it was like, oh, this is a really good player. But he did not help you for fantasy, completely lost season. The question now is just with this Packers offense looking better and better and Aaron Jones showing quality film, should he be, you know, a top fantasy option next year? Top, no.
Top 24? Maybe. Yeah. If he's back in Green Bay. Yeah. And he will be, I think. Boy, did we see kind of a change of expectations in that back field beyond him? I mean, the depth chart changed over the back part of the year. Yeah, AJ Dillon will be not on that team. Yeah. Chilling like unemployed. Yeah. So Aaron Jones contract, 17 mil cap. The dead cap is not great. What's the dead cap? Well, it's the 12.3, but it's like the, I think there is a way for them to drop it down to 4.6 if it's, I can't tell. If it's pre or post June 1st, you know, all those magic things that they do with the cap. Yeah. All right, that is going to do it for today's show. Thursday is going to be the top 10 wide receiver truth episode. Any NFL news we need to talk about there.
