Fantasy Football - NFL Draft Recap: AFC Winners & Losers, Darn Tootin’ - Podcast for 4/29

So in his press conference, he was talking about how they were looking at Gentie. And they were, you know, they really like Gentie, but they were like, you know, that's unrealistic. He's not going to be there. So they're looking at all these running backs because they knew they needed a back and which back were they going to fall in love with at different parts of the draft. And they could have taken Henderson or Amarian Hampton. Or Judkins. Yeah. Like they were all there and they, this was their target. This was the guy that they were saying, I want him later in the draft. And they picked them ahead of where.

I think most people expected him to go. I really, really liked his tape before the NFL draft. He reminded me of... Do you like the 22 touchdowns and 1,600 yards on the ground last year? Yeah, I mean, he's great. He could catch the ball. Honestly, he's probably the biggest riser in fantasy... In fantasy drafts from pre-draft to post-draft, this is the name to know. RJ Harvey... I like it. Don't go by ADP. He's not a big boy. He's very undersized and I will not be surprised. Probably has brittle old bones. Yeah, I mean, this team, yeah, because of his age. Yeah. Yeah, the first time we've done a brand new rookie who's never played in the elderly home. How old is Giovante Williams? He's got to be like 25. I'm going to go 20. Probably 25. Yeah, he's one year older. Wow. But look, it's going to be a committee there. That's the thing. There will be a committee backfield. It's not going to be R.J. Harvey. There's going to be.

Other backs involved. Last year you saw it a ton. Lots of different backs getting involved. We had a bidet involved. Okay? Yeah. And so it's just about how much of the responsibilities that matter to Sean Payton can this young man handle? Can he pass protect? That's going to be a big storyline for Bo Nix. They also spent a third round pick on Pat Bryant out of Illinois, 6-2-204 wide receiver. It's another one like the Kyle Williams. draft where this guy's name wasn't necessarily heavy on the radar for people but the the production of his final season is it's really strong you're talking to a 43% dominator rating which means he accounted for

43% of his teams receiving yards and receiving touchdown. Yeah, he had 17 touchdowns over the last two seasons, a really good player whose name you probably didn't know before the NFL draft because it wasn't talked about a lot. Both of these guys, R.J. Harvey and Pat Bryant are massive, to me, above where they were ADP guys post-NFL draft. Yeah, I would expect in the backfield, Audric Estime, who they did draft last year, will be heavily involved. And then Julea McLaughlin takes a big owl. with the addition of Roger Harvey. I think if you're talking about a committee, Harvey seems like the guy that takes McLaughlin snaps. That's exactly right. I agree. Bo Nix, get him a couple weapons, helps him out. Moving to the Chargers. Oh, baby. Pick 22. Omari in Hampton, who was outside of Genti, my favorite running back, I believe Jason's as well. Yep, for sure. And goes to a situation here where Naji's on a one-year deal.

I think I said this on the live stream. I'm so pleased that I can dislike nausea for fantasy again because it was a little brief little window here from the end of the season to now right to acknowledge his upside. I'm hoping to discourage his upside. I am old enough to remember a couple months ago when Mike the fantasy hitman right. Yeah. Said should the chargers draft someone on day two that's a quality back? You think that by the end of the season, he will have the starting job over Najee Harris. I do, yeah. And they drafted an awesome back. And they did it in the first round. So I know a lot that there are legitimate concerns of year one, what is this going to look like with Najee Harris on the roster? But I do. I'm barely concerned. I think by the end of the year, you're going to have an Omari and Hampton takeover. And then for dynasty purposes going forward.

with Giro and Harbaugh's offense and the three-back quality, they drafted a guy who is supposed to be on the field every play. Like, that is what they went after. So I don't think they're looking to have this be a, you know, bring another back in to share time with him next year. I think this will be Hampton show. Was it Michael Carter, Breeze Hall that we enjoyed in year one? Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, Najee's a good player. Najee's going to have a role in the goal line and that could, that could hurt. Hampton a little bit from a fantasy production standpoint. But this is not a long-term plan. Harris is not a long-term plan for the Chargers. And we spent all the last offseason with Gus Edwards as the lead man and J.K. Dobbins behind him. I love Hampton. If I didn't believe in the talent, maybe, you know, I'd be more worried. My only question for him long-term, and he's my 102. I'm not going to fight against the landing spot is great in the first-run draft capital versus the other guys.

The question for him long term to me is, will the touchdowns flow enough to account for pass catching? Or do they change the Greg Roman system up and we get some actual targets here? Because looking at the breakdown of last year, like J.K. Dobbins and 13 games. So when he was actually playing, he saw 8% of targets. And 8% target share is that won't turn you into an elite. player unless you're compensating by you're getting 12 plus rushing touchdown. It won't turn you into an elite player, but it is certainly not a lack of targets that stops you from being a top 10 type of running back. Yeah, I'm talking like, Ken Hampton. People love Hampton. They're like, this is, he will be with Gentie. He will be a top five type of a dynasty running back. And I'm saying, does the offense allow him to do that? Dobbin's last year missed four games and was the,

running back 23. So, you know, he missed some time. I think the system is just too good. Yeah. And, you know, you have seen obviously a completely different system, but you've seen Austin Echler with Justin Herbert get 100 targets. And Hampton is a great pass blocker and a great pass catcher. So I do think you're going to have Justin Herbert utilize him in all facets of the game. And I, you know, this is to me pretty much a top five. Dynasty running back right now. They also spent a second round pick on Malik Neighbors High School quarterback, also known as wide receiver, Trey Harris. My man, it was a good, it was a good second round for us Dynasty Pod Bros. Because you've been, you've been loving Besh. I've been loving Trey Harris. Last year I loved Troy Franklin, and he fell to the fourth. It was like, okay, well, you're dead to me. This year, it was Trey Harris, and he got picked. Oh.

Oh, baby. He got picked at pick to Justin Herbert on a team that needs an alpha one on the outside. Like, I love Ladd McConkey. But Ladd McConkey is not the number one. You know, he's not your classic X receiver. Right. Yeah, right now they have Quentin Johnson. They have added Mike Williams. Mike Williams back to the roster. They have Trey Harrison the second round. They spent a fourth round pick on Lambert Smith out of Auburn. They're trying to solidify the weapons. I did think that this was a team that might take a shot at one of the big tight ends. That didn't happen. So, you know, we do have the, Disley's still there, right? Yes. So, I mean, talk about big winners for the draft. Oh, big winners is Big Montana. Will Dishley. Wow. He's a winner. Yeah, baby. I mean, they have Kyle's reminding us they have Conklin guys. Shut up, Kyle.

You know, the nice thing about Disney is he doesn't ever care who he's on the roster with. Yeah. He just somehow does stuff. But Justin Herbert, a big winner, adding, you know, a great running back. I mean, they're offseason. Adding Hampton and Harris helps so much. Another second round pick at the wide receiver position. Signing Mike Williams. This is a team that's, they're set up. Yeah. You know, you can like Las Vegas all you want, but getting by the Chiefs and getting by the Chargers, getting by the Broncos. That's going to be a tough, tough ask. One more team. It's a good division. The Chiefs. Well, fourth round wide receiver. Jalen Royals in the fourth, it, I obviously, we want to like the location of the Chiefs. We need them to actually get back to being the high-powered Kansas City Chiefs. But I will still.

error on the side of this is a good landing spot because you have a great quarterback and jalen royals is a is a good wide receiver like his his behind these scene metrics are strong it's just where can he get on the field like with rice and worthy in hollywood in front of him he'll be a he'll be a depth piece for them but should a Should the bat signal go off for Jalen Royals, I think that he'll be able to come through. Isn't juju back in Kansas City? Oh, no. Is he seriously? I don't know. I don't remember that, but he is. I'm pretty sure he's better. Yeah, Kyle just. My juju notifications are off. They feel to me, this is we didn't spend.

A pick until the fourth round and an offensive player, so you're running back room and your wide receiver room we feel okay with. Yeah, Isaiah Pacheco is a winner. Now, I don't think he has set up the way he was last year, right? They already brought in Elijah Missal and they have a hunt who they basically had usurp him last season. So Isaiah Pacheco is not just set up for success, but he is definitely a big winner from this draft. There were a lot of talk. A lot of mocks had if Trayvion Henderson fell to the chiefs. I thought the chiefs might take him. They had the chance and they bypassed. So he comes out unscathed with an opportunity to reclaim what he went into last year having. So yeah, that's it.
