Fantasy Football Podcast 2016 - Week 8 Waivers, Streams of the Week, Goodbye Arian

You'll see it. You always say that, but you come from a perspective of we're in leagues where everybody's listening to the show and they're in it. There's a lot of leagues out there where people are, they're going to see 200 yards a week, back-to-back week. Very fair. O.J. Simpson was one. Ricky Williams was one, and I'm trying to remember the other one. Was it Gail Sayer? No, it wasn't Sayers.

It was another Hall of Famer. Yeah, I forget who it was. But you mix that with the news of Arian Foster, and ignorant owners are just going to be like, oh, Ajai is going to be the guy forever. Ajai the guy. So other, excuse me, we're going into other running backs. Jekwiz Rogers. Yes. Is he 34% owned? Is that real? That is correct. Okay. So Jekiz Rogers needs to be owned 26 for 154 this past week. He's probably the number one waiver claim.

Yeah, because Ajay is not available in most leagues. Right, correct. Yeah, and he looked, as long as Doug Martin is out, Jaquiz is going to be a beast. I talked about him in the Rising Star section. Earl Campbell. There we go. There we go. We're good. Look, his schedule, this is Jaquois's upcoming schedule. Oakland, Atlanta, Chicago, right? I mean, you have three great games, and that's assuming that he's the starter with Doug Martin out, which.

I think it's a pretty safe assumption that you can say at least the next two weeks that Jaguiz Rogers is going to be the starter. And if something is even further wrong with Doug Martin, which he's been known to have that happen with two of his four years, then you got an RB1 that you just grabbed off the waiver wire. Give me some other running back names that you like this week. Matt Ozziata, I think is a really good name. He's going up against Chicago.

They have not been, you know, great against the run. They've had a really good passing defense. And you had McKinnon last week deal with two different injuries during the game, kind of go in, kind of go out. So Aziata, I mean, when I'm looking at this week, right, and this is important to realize with all the bye weeks, I'm looking at who's going to be good this week, and not only for my team, but I'm going out and I'm looking at my opponent, and I'm saying, oh, my goodness.

They need a running back this week. They don't have one to start unless they start, you know, some slub backup off their bench. So I'm going to grab a guy who might be able to put up, you know, 10 plus points. And so he would be a good example. Ozziata. Who else would be a good spot start this week? I'll give you Devante Booker. I know you two guys were riding high on him yesterday. And even though I still felt like C.J. Anderson was the guy. Booker got the...

the more snaps yesterday. I don't know if Booker is as fast as I think he has, or if it's just in comparison. Compared to the tortoise? Yeah. I mean, C.J. Anderson, he's not a speed demon. I mean, he's just steady. He's just steady. He's amazing. He's a great running. But if they're going to work both in, I mean, maybe you're looking at Devante Freeman and Kevin Coleman, the Broncos version of that, and they get to take on San Diego. I think that Booker, if you are in a...

by apocalypse situation. Booker is a fine. Would you ever, would you play both against San Diego? Because you're not sitting. If you're, if you're telling me Booker's good. I would not mind it. I would absolutely be fine playing both. I mean, hopefully you have one. 190 yard yesterday. Hopefully you have one stud, you know, that you don't have to play both these guys. But very similar to good matchups with Devons Freeman and Tavon Coleman. You can get away with that. How about Chris Thompson? Love it. Chris Thompson has actually put up surprisingly good weeks.

recently he had seven catches. Yeah, seven catches for 40 yards and 73 yards on the ground, which was surprising. You had Matt Jones fumble the ball twice. Twice. And the coach comes out and says, yeah, we might need to take some carries away because obviously. Yeah, and watching that game, you think, okay, well, here comes the Rob Kelly experience, but it turned into Chris Thompson's workload just going way up. So I think that he is a great.

grab. He takes on the Bengals. I don't know if I, if you're in a PPR league, I mean, fire him up. If you're in a standard league, I don't know if I'm going to throw him in this week. I would just sit him on the bench as a nice stash. And look, if you play on ESPN, I mean, that's where we play. I think that's where a lot of people do. A lot, if not most people are everywhere, but, uh, we should throw out the name tie freaking Montgomery. We had got to the wide receiver. Well, I'm not talking about a wide receiver.

That's why I specified ESPN because he is now eligible for running back. And this coming week, look, last week I made Kevin Coleman my start of the week because the matchup dictated that the running backs who can catch the ball have destroyed them. How about a running back who's a wide receiver? I mean, I can tell you right now, Ty Montgomery is my start of the week. Yeah, I love it. Call it. A couple other names just to throw out that you might want to pick up. James White, still available in 33% of leagues.

and Mike Gillisley is only owned in 6% of leagues. You have the McCoy situation. Buffalo Bills have come out and said it will be a lot like last week, which means they'll probably screw it up and they'll play McCoy and he'll get eight carries for 10 yards again. But maybe they do the right thing and Mike Gillisley becomes the guy. And also, just a reminder to if you got the space and you want to stash a guy, Derek Henry, available in 50% of leagues and Alfred Morris.

is widely, widely available. These are some handcuffs that if something happens to the starter, you have... They're big boy handcuffs. Yes. They're handcuffs. Thank you. You have a great option moving forward. Look, Ty Montgomery, he can take both of these positions. So we'll, you know, we brought him up. He's the perfect transition to wide receivers.

And so Montgomery takes the cake at the wide receiver pickups as well. But let's talk about Cole Beasley only owned in 52% of leagues. Has the Sunday night game. Dak Press got taken on the Eagles. Beasley seems to be that guy that's just reliable. They used them a lot in the red zone this past week with just some misdirection plays. Beasley, 50% of leagues might be available in your league. Now the number two wide receiver for Dallas might be back this week.

Talking about Des Bryant. Yeah, he's talking about the number one who will be back. Cole Beasley has been the number one because Des Bryant has been gone. Cole Beasley was the number one when Des Bryant was playing. I think week two and week three beg to differ on that. I'm going to vet that. Okay, vet that. All right, Jason's start of the week, Tyrell Williams.

is not owned in, well, he's owned in 67% of leagues. I'm not picking up Tyrell Williams. No way. I'm trying to trade him. Right now he's got Denver coming up at Denver. You're going to see him on your last week's score list and be tempted. So I wouldn't pick him up. Yes, exactly. I think he's a guy that you avoid if he's out there. I mean, he's okay if you don't need a start and you just want to stash, but he's not going to have a good week this week against Denver. So his trade value is going to be low and wide receivers are dime a dozen. So I agree. Here's a guy I would pick up.

He's available in over half of leagues, and that's Dante Moncrief, expected back to practice Wednesday. I don't know whether or not he will start this week, but if he's back to practice, he's going to get picked up in every league. Half of the leagues he's available, pick him up immediately. Look, we saw Doyle rule because there were no other targets. Dante Moncrief was gone. Phil Dorset was gone. Kwan Bray was gone. Who? And so you've got Dante Moncrief, one of our favorite guys coming into the year, who's back, pick him up.

Pick him up. Here's a guy owned in 10% of leagues. Currently the 23rd ranked wide receiver, averaging almost 11 points a game in half point leagues. Brandon LaFelle. Yeah. Love him this week. He has scored in three straight games, four touchdowns in that span, and now takes on Washington before his buy. He also has what I would consider to be a potentially good playoff matchup if you, you know, Cleveland?

Yeah, he just did pretty good against Cleveland. It's just an interesting guy that has performed. He's never had over 100 yards this year. But, you know, eight catches three weeks ago for this past week. I think he's worth a – I wouldn't spend fab on him, but I'd put a waiver claimant on him. That's how I feel. Unless you're desperate. You know, all these buys are here. You said you like him this week. Yeah, I do like him this week. I mean, look, you've got Washington right now. We don't know if Norman is going to be –

He would be on AJ Green anyways. Right. And that's the point. We don't know if he's going to be there, but even if he's there, he's going to be guarding AJ Green. And I don't think they've got, you know, the real team to lock down multiple guys. If he's gone, yeah, Brandon Lafell should be a good play this week. He's playing in London. I'm okay starting him. My favorite pickup might be Michael Thomas. He is emerged as, I think, the safest receiver on the Saints. Yeah, but he plays Seattle this week. I mean, I'm...

For me, this is the time of the year. This week and next week. Is it on the road or at home? No, it's at home. It's at home. I am really looking personally at weekly matchups. I'm not so much right now concerned with wait and see guys. So like one guy that I've been telling you for a while, there would be a good and he's still out there in. Cory Coleman. Oh. Corey Coleman. You know, look, I think he's okay if you don't need to start.

Or if your opponent isn't looking for a wide receiver to start because I expect he's got a good rest of season. But I'm more interested right now in, you know, Brian LaFelle. Than Michael Thomas? No, then Cory Coleman. Oh, yeah. I mean, Michael Thomas is somebody who I like a lot more than Cory Coleman. Yeah. Michael Thomas actually put up an 18-point week without scoring this past week. Ten catches against Kansas City. And we talked about, you know, this is on the road. And you have, so you have Seattle this week.

Maybe your team is solid this week, but you know that next week, week nine, there is another monster by apocalypse. Lo and behold, Michael Thomas and the Saints will be taking on San Francisco. Yeah, that is really nice. We also know they have Tampa Bay twice in their playoff matchups. So, yeah, I think he's a very good pick up. Now, we've kind of buried the lead here. We haven't talked about Devante Adams.

Oh, man. Devante Adams had 13 for 132 and 2. We waited a little while to get to him, but he's got a great match it this week. Great match. He seemed to be the fit that Aaron Rogers needed to move the offense. I mean, I would spend a decent amount of money on Devante Adams on the chance. I would as well. On the chance that you are buying yourself a, you know, this year's Randall Cobb. Yeah, I mean, this week should be great. So whether this is to play keep away for an opponent or have him.

in Atlanta. The reason that I picked Tyrell Williams last week is because you have Truffant as a great defender, but I really, really, really seriously doubt the Truffant is going to be guarding Devante Adams. You know, he's probably going on Jordan Nelson. They usually just don't guard him. Right. Because they know the... Yeah, you've never needed to before. So... He set a precedent. Yeah, the second and third wide receivers against Falcons have done very well.

This is a perfect game for Devante Adams. All right. Any other names you want to throw out there real quick at the wide receiver position before we jump to tight ends. And then our quarterback streams. You know, because of the matchup, I think if you need a weekly play, Mohamed Sunu might be worth throwing out there. Really? Well, I mean, I don't love him, but he's against Green Bay. If that ends up being a higher scoring game and you need a start, I think it's okay. I would throw James and Crowder, especially if Jordan Reed is out. Crowder has been very involved.

All right. I think the main tight end worth mentioning, Jack Doyle, 15% owned, big week this past week, could have another one. Tyler Eifford as well. You know, Marvel Lewis expects his role to expand in week eight. He was just fresh back off of the long-term injury there. So I think Eifert's going to see his involvement in that offense improve, especially, you know, when you're coming down into the red zone.

I think he's worth a stash, but he's owned in a lot of leagues. So I think Jack Doyle's kind of the pickup there. Do you guys have any other names? I mean, I just if you want to pick up Lederius Green of the hope. I mean, he's on the buy week, so you might not have to do it. And another, if Jordan Reed is out, Vernon Davis, he's going to be a tight end one until Jordan Reed returns. Doyle or Kelsey? Doyle. Okay. Give me actual upside. Okay. Fair enough. He's really come on this year.

Defensively, you're looking at the Jets versus the Browns. Do we agree that's the crem de la Crem? Yeah, I don't agree completely. Where do you go then? Where's your number one defensive pickup? Sounds like the Jets. No, it is the Jets. But I'm just, it's the Jets with a tinge of if McCown's back and the Browns performed last week on the ground and they got enough done to where they put up some numbers.

I'm just saying if McCown's back and the Jets secondary is so bad, it's not a shoe in, right? It's still the best pickup. Say the Jets did just shut down the Ravens running game, which was looking very strong for the last couple weeks. Bears' defense against the Vikings. Vikings looked pretty inept this past week. McKinnon might be out. I really like the Titans D this week. Blake Bortles has just... He has looked... Sorry, that was atrocious.
