Pump the Brakes, Stash or Trash, Riding Zebras

can certainly see pumping the brakes on. He's not going to repeat last week's performance by any stretch. Well, it's just a, yeah, who would you start over it? But I am, I am certainly a believer in Mahomes, and I think he's going to be a, I mean, in a 52 point over under, if the Steelers are able to go and score on the Chiefs, which they should be able to do at home, then I think Mahomes will end up having fantasy value, but you are.

Apparently the Mahomes whisper, you called your shot and played him last week. I think he'll be okay, but I think you're talking more about 250 and 2, which is great. If that's better than what you're expecting from your other options, start Patrick Mahomes. Sure. But don't expect four touchdowns. Don't expect him to light them on fire when you go into an intimidating environment, a team that just had a tie with Cleveland, not a badge of honor for most teams. So that's my pump the brakes this week.

Go see who your leaguemates have dropped. The tilt is real, people. Yes, week one tilt is happening. It's such a good tip. I mean, everyone's making the waiver claims. And look, people will make stupid decisions on how much they spend, but they will make stupider decisions on who they drop. That's why after the waiver wires, you know, segment yesterday, we gave you some examples of people to drop.

And we're going to give you a couple examples that have already hit my timeline on Twitter. Because I know there's a lot of people out there. There's a lot of listeners. Maybe you're in a really astute league. And you think this would never happen. But we're talking to a lot of people. Probably has me in it. It's astute. Probably. It's stupido. Oh, astute. There are, the tilt is real. I saw a drop. A screenshot. So they sent it in. Somebody picked up.

Uncle Will. Fine. Fine. Will Disney. Montana is strong. Yeah, the tight end from Seattle. You know who they dropped for him? They dropped the tight end who they had drafted. Oh, no, Evan Ingraham. Zach Ertz. No, they did not. They did. Come on. People, I swear, people are dropping Rex Burkhead. People are dropping Kerry on Johnson. Derek Henry, you pumped, but they're dropping. You don't drop Derek Henry. I completely agree with that. So.

Drop it like it's hot. Go check it out. Maybe this, maybe I'm not speaking directly to you, but there are a lot of people out there who need to go check the waiver wires. Got a question this morning. Carry on Johnson was dropped. What percentage of your fab would you spend on Carrie on Johnson? Whof. 50%? No. No, I wouldn't. 30%. I would say, you know, that's 15 to 25%. I would be, I would be aggressive, but I'm not going to.

I'm not going to blow up the budget right now to get carry on. Panthers tied in Greg Olson plans to rest his fractured foot a few weeks and then play the rest of the season. He's optimistic he can wait until after the season for surgery, a pain management issue. Are you guys stashing Greg Olson? I guess. I am not. I'm not taking. Tight ends are rough, man. Yeah, I agree. Tight ends are rough. But I feel like what you're doing is you're taking, let's say, a month where you are now.

lighting one of your bench spots on fire for the hope that when he comes back, it's not going to get re-injured and that he's going to be better than he was in the vast majority of games last year before he got injured. You're not necessarily lighting it on fire, though. If he's declared out for the week, he goes into your IRS spot. I'm talking about teams that don't have IR capability. Oh. You're sitting on your bench. I probably move on. Yeah, I'm with Jason on that. Yeah, if you can throw him in your IR, definitely don't drop him.

All right, Deshawn Jackson is dealing with a shoulder injury on top of the concussion. Unfortunate. Light up your Chris Godwin this week? Yes. Even against Philly? Yes. Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said Big Ben has a minor elbow injury, could limit him in practice. We expect him to play. Martavis Bryant, re-signed to a one-year deal. Raiders. This feels like a tilt move by the Raiders. Stop. Like, it was Jared Cook and no one else. And then John Gruden came out yesterday and said,

You know, we need to get Amari Cooper going easier said than done. What I don't understand about this. That's not an endorsement. I assume you two gentlemen, no more. I thought he was suspended. It has not happened. No, it's just the fear of a suspension. And then there was a lack of performance by Martavis Bryant in camp.

When he was originally cut, John Gruden came out and said, look, we expected more from Martavis. Yeah. He doesn't understand the playbook. He's not offering us much on the field. But it's more than Amari Cooper come back. And that's what I mean. I think it's more of an indictment on the existing receiving core. Look, you can't blame as a coach, Derek Carr, in a way, right? You can't blame him so much that you, I just think mentally you're probably put everything into Derek Carr, for better or for worse. I can blame Derek Carr for a lot. We can.

But as a head coach, you need to put the onus on other people to give confidence to your quarterback. So it's like, in part, like mentally you're just saying, hey, let's go get another weapon for him. Let Mark Davis run in a straight line until he's suspended. That's what it is. Right. I mean, that's just, just if he suspended mid-rout, just run out of the stadium. Just run straight out. Josh Allen is going to start. Hooray. I believe you can start. Kelvin Benjamin is a flex this week. We'll talk about Kelvin in a little bit. Yep.

Um, where am I? Nick Foles is going to start. Yeah. So Carson Wentz is out yet again. And, uh, Tampa might win this game. Yeah. And the Tampa Bay defense. How what's your confidence level in streaming the Tampa Bay defense against Nick Fultz? I'm okay with it. I'm, I'm not, I'm not super thrilled about it. I honestly, when I look at it, the game's in Tampa, low over under, I'd do it.

When I look at it, I actually consider whether or not Nick Foles is a streamable option against that defense. We've seen, here's the thing with Nick Foles. We've seen so many times where he just outright sucks. But we've seen plenty of times where he lights it up for fantasy. Yeah. Multi-touchdown, no interception, huge yardage games. Now, the one thing against him right now is no Alshan and the wide receiver court is kind of a little banged up. He has not flashed anything positive.

preseason, in season yet. Truth. I'm super ready for Nelson Aguilor's 10 receptions for 42 yards. That's aiming high, Mike. It's going to be great. It might be under 40 with that many receptions. Lev Bell continued his holdout. Did not report. Cool. Do you guys agree that it's looking like week 10? Yes. I'm not going to jump to that conclusion yet. It's not looking like week two right now. And let me ask you this question. Is he losing money?

Yeah, $800,000 at a time. I know that, but is he losing real money? Yes, he is 100%. Like if he weighs to week 10, is somebody going to go pay him what he wants? No. The only way that he is not losing money as if, and we could never know this, is if he were to have gotten injured due to extra games. I mean, he is losing money that it's not like someone's going to overpay an extra $10 million next year on a contract because he missed.

These first 10 weeks, he's just straight losing money. Chris Carson, according to Pete Carroll, quote, really took the lead at the position. And Rashad Penny looked a little rusty. Do you buy it? And do you start Chris Carson? Chris Carson is a startable player for sure. But I still firmly believe that similar to Caryon Johnson. I think the backups here will win out over the course of the season. Yeah, a rusty Rashad Penny still received a lot of work. A rusty Penny?

Rusty penny, yeah. A rusty old penny. Cam Meredith was a healthy scratch in week one because he had missed so much training camp and practice time, which means he may be active in the future, but it's going to be a road to relevance for Cameron Meredith. Josh Allen behind center will be much better than Nathan Peterman. In fact, he put one right on the belly of Calvin Benjamin in this past week. Did he catch it? No, he didn't. But I would prefer the ball thrown to my wide receiver in the end zone. That's a fair point. And I personally think that he is a stash. What do you guys say? He is a hesitant stash. I mean, there are plenty of wide receivers.

that I would rather pick up. I would rather have Ted Ginn right now than I would Kelvin Benjamin. But he is, you know, because of the change of quarterback, I mean, maybe you hold him another week. The problem with him is this opening schedule, you know, not just this coming week, but then even next week. It's like when are, how long do you hold before you can play a guy who when you play him is pretty much a flex type of option? I mean, do you see, what is his ceiling with Josh Allen, Andy?

Or Mike's both of you? He's a 15 target guy. He could have 15 targets with Josh Allen easily. This is a team that's going to get disintegrated weekly. Garbage time. 15 targets, a touchdown. I think that there is upside to Kelvin Benjamin. Now, you don't have to believe me. You can trash him. You can go trade him in for Brandon Marshall or something like that. But you're still the number one on a team with a guy that has, I think, top five NFL arm talent.

He's the guy he's going to throw it to. You're not going to throw it to Jeremy Curley. Sure. The problem with Kelvin Benjamin, even with the optimism of the new quarterback, I agree completely with Jason. Let's say you stash him for the Charger game, and he shows a little bit. He gets you 50 yards. You go, oh, okay. Then he goes on the road to Minnesota and the road to Lambo. You're not playing him in those contests. I am not. I'm not even considering playing him against Xavier Rhodes. I might play him in Lambo.

But that's still three weeks from now. So why I'm saying my belief in the Green Bay secondary, I think they're a very strong unit. And I just. Calvin Benjamin's bigger than all those guys. Right. But he's not better. No, part of it. But I don't have the same kind of like granular hesitancy about that. But he's the number one on an NFL offense. Right. That's it. That's the only reason I'm stashing him. Part of when I went back and watched the Baltimore Ravens Buffalo Bills game. Yeah.
